It had been ages since I last came to this shop. The last time when I came was back to 2009 which I did blog bout it before when I just started blogging (click here). As today I went for my first medical check up, thought of revisit this shop and Just got to know that they have change their name of the shop, from restaurant Living Food to MKP Lam Mee or Uptown Lam Mee (wondering is it the same) which I thought should be as the whole shop setting still the same.

The only difference in this shop is the crowd as I remember few years back, to get a spot in this shop is quite hard, as it was one of a famous Lam Mee shop in Uptown or among the neighborhood as my friend recommend to me.

Well, I still stick to their traditional signature ‘Lam Mee’ whereby the difference compare to Penang we call this ‘Loh Mee’ as our Lam Mee is in clear soup version. You get to choose their thick noodle or thin noodle as I still remember they are famous for their thick noodle. The soup base is still thick and a bit starchy yet still the same taste as I previously ate before the only difference is the texture of the thick noodle had change. Find it a bit sticky not so nice to chew compare to last time and I prefer mine to add on with their 2 small plate of sambal to make it extra kick! If next round I would order, I would go for their thin noodle. I think it would be better.

Only difference between the thing is the noodle and of course price had increase. A plate of Lam Mee, 2 pieces of ‘Fried Sui Kaw’ and 1 chinese tea cost RM10.10.

-= KA CHING =-

Food rating 6/10 , Okay Lah~ -Stamped-

-WARNING –This is based on my individual taste. Try it at your own risk-

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, which I could not believe myself too. Next weekend, all of us will be heading back for Reunion dinner. Nevertheless, alot of restaurants and hotels now do offer great food for reunion dinner as many families had opted to eat out instead of cooking at home because on ambiance and convenience.

As for this round, we head to Checkers Cafe located inside Dorsett Regency Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Checkers cafe offers a great soothing ambiance which is perfect for family gathering as the whole place is comfortable, can be separate out with other diners also indulge with a very simple decoration to stir up the mood of CNY.

Once we were seated, we were greated by this huge Pineapple as a special welcome drink called Prosperity Splash Drink (Mixtured of Pineapple, Mandarin orange, Dragon Fruit juice and hint of honey) indeed its a thirst quencher drink that you will never had enough.

What we are having for the night is a 8 course dinner that prepared by a great Chinese chef.

Of course like any other celebrations during Chinese New Year and before dinner or everything starts, we will always starts with ‘Lou Sang’ which is only a tradition that available in a few countries around South East Asia. The thick sauce is specially made with chef’s own recipe to enhance on the taste of the ‘lou sang’. Their unique of Yee Sang is that ‘Salmon Yee Sang with crispy Salmon skin’.

Fresh Salmon ‘Yee Sang’ for the night . . . .

As preparation, you mix everything what is next to the plate on sauce and other ingredients.

Pictures credit to: www.everydayfoodilove.com

In the process of Yee Sang, by using a chopstick and stick inside the Yee Sang then you say out loud your ”auspicious wishes” for the year, every toss say one wish whereby mostly is high salary, good business, good health and many more. The higher you toss,

This is usually the aftermath of lou sang and this consider not that bad, as for me and my friend, it did fly to someone’s hair before and the whole portion left half as another half is on the table.

A very delicious, savory with a bit sweet, sour, crispy salmon skin that kick a perfect start before dinner. One of a good Yee Sang that I have come across so far. . .

Pan-fried Lamb Rack with Chef Special Sauce

This is the super star of the night as one piece would not be enough. I think I do not mind to have at least 5 pieces of this that it is well marinated till the sauce got into the meat, well quoted with the sauce that make it very juicy and not only that, the meat is so soft till it nearly melts, no lamb gammy taste which is a perfect dish for every one. Highly Recommended!

Braised Shark’s Fin with Assorted Seafood

During Chinese new Year, Shark Fin will mostly fill onto the table as they are quite generous with the ingredient. I can eat chunks of crab meat, fish maw and assorted seafood every spoonful of it.

Followed by Steamed Chicken with Herbs.

Juicy and soft meat with the herb sauce soak onto the meat and make every bite delicious.

Deep Fried Cod Fish with Superior Soya Sauce

This is also another favourite dish for the night, as the fish being deep fried on the outer layer till its crispy then shower along with superior soy sauce. Always love the texture of cod fish which is soft and moist. - Recommended

Deep Fried Prawns with Seafood Sauce

Fresh prawn that indicates by the solid meat texture and the seafood sauce pairs it very well.

Braised Fish Maw, Sea Cucumber, Dried Oyster and Black Mushroom with seasonal vegetable

Fried Rice with ginger and salted egg

Fried hot from the wok with ‘wok hei’ a bit salty and I still add in some soy sauce to further bring up the taste. Its simple and good to further fill my stomach.

Steamed Nian Gao which is prepared by the chef himself as its a bit softer compare to those I have eaten so far and I love Nian Gao alot as get to eat once a year. I love it to well coated with lots of coconut.

Golden Sesame Ball with Red Bean paste

For the first time I am trying Sweetened Red Bean Paste, as I mean the red bean had been blend into a very thick to make this desert out. Usually I eat this in watery base filled with Red Bean chunks.

This is the Sous Chef Lai behind the wok that had created this great range or Perfect Dinner menu that have all what a Reunion dinner needs. In this menu many chinese believe in every dinner must have Prawns, Fish, Chicken, dried oyster and nian gao. All have their own meaning in a Chinese New Year Dinner.

I certainly would recommend for their CNY Chinese Menu if you wanted to go for reunion dinner at this hotel. Great food ~

We were also given cup cakes with Dragon Icon and gold. The cake is moist and nice!

If you do not like their Chinese NEw Year menu you can opt for their buffet that have a good range too.

Sometimes, when you want to hunt for food, every state also got their own popular food. As for last round long weekend holiday, some friend brought me to his hometown to eat some great food which is nearby Ipoh called Pusing (click here). After that, we head back to Ipoh town to hit on some great food recommended by them.

There is this one particular little stall hidden under this huge tree. Some called it Under the tree Chee Cheong Fun. Its so famous that in a day he do only a few hours business. Not because he is lansi, just that alot people hunt for his food.

This uncle a humble and cheerful guy had been running this little stall for more than 10 years and it had gain popularity among the locals.

One of the different style compare to Penang is, he have created his own special sauce.

And there are 2 types of chee cheong fun, one which is plain and one which is with mince meat if I am not mistaken.

So its pair up with another family run little coffee shop and both of them make the whole place packed up within minutes.

This is what is so different from Penang style as Penang we use ‘heh koh’ (prawn paste).

But in Ipoh, this uncle had created his own special gravy that shower upon the chee chong fun and according to my friend the gravy is made of pork bones and other great ingredients that make it so rich and sweet in taste. Add on with spicy green chili, brown sauce and some chili sauce just makes it perfect for afternoon tea time. RM2.50 per plate

Some people like my friend will need to have 2 plates at least to satisfy their crave. I would say, if you have not given it a try, it is certainly worth to try, consider this is one of the most famous Chee Cheong Fun in Ipoh.

Remark: you might like it or don like it. More like a love – hate relationship.

Operating hours: 2.30pm till finish (means while stock last)

Also I notice alot people order White Coffee here, find out that its a bit strong, foamy on the top and just nice to go for afternoon tea. RM2 if I am not mistaken.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Next is we have to go for what Ipoh is famous for where how white coffee started. Of course I was introduce by one of the best white coffee in Ipoh is located inside this coffee shop, Kedai Kopi Sun Yuan Foong.

A normal coffee shop that is packed with many people that usually comes here for breakfast, besides that, the Chee Cheong Fun I mention above, he will operate in this kopitiam in the morning from 8.30am till finish. (where usually finish around 11am)

Usually my friend will come here for breakfast and this coffee shop was recommended by 2 of my Ipoh friend already. Guess that it should be good!

This is the super star of all White Coffee, as it is in robust coffee that many of our locals will love, a bit thick in texture and for many coffee lovers, you will fall in love with this white coffee. I certainly would love to have 2 glass of this, but surely will hang over later as in yawn and fall asleep. – Recommneded!!!!!

This is what my friend will have for breakfast, hot white coffee and with this half boil egg with toast. .

Soft break like using the (bakery head brand) where you can find in pasar malam, toast to perfection and topple with this 2 half boil egg.

-= Ka Ching =-

Food Rating 10/10, Highly Recommended for its white coffee~

-Stamped—Warning– This is based on my individual taste. Try it at your own risk-

Besides all those white coffee, Ipoh also famous for its Ipoh Chicken Rice, as this is my very first shop I have visited when I first came to Ipoh is Restaurant Onn Kee. One of the reason last time my friend introduce me this shop was because many celebrities came by to this outlet to eat and that’s how I ended up here.

This is not only the restaurant avail as in this stretch of street there are 3 giant players in the area and this restaurant is one of it. Every one prefer different outlet and it really depends on your taste.

The crowd pour in non stop and the chef just non stop chopping on the chicken.

This is how busy the shop can be during long weekend. All shops are super crowded.

You will never want to miss the bean sprout in Ipoh as they are grown differently. According to my friend they are grown by using mineral water, therefore the bean spout in Ipoh is fat and juicy.

This is the Ipoh White Chicken (cantonese – Ipoh Nga Choi Kai).

Silky smooth koay teow .. . .

Among 3 restaurant available in the area, this shop is my last choice, as the chicken texture and koay teow I do not really like it, but my friend prefer this shop.

Well, it depends on your individual taste as I prefer the one next to this shop. After your Chicken Rice, please do not miss one of the best Soya Bean (Funny Mountain Soya Bean – click here) which is just on the next street which is about 3 minutes walk. Total Damage was around RM 40 if I am not mistaken for a pax of 4

-= Ka Ching =-

Food Rating 5/10, i find it so so only . .nothing to boast about~

Last 2 weekend when got a bit long weekend holiday, my friend tag me along to a mini makan trip as they are on they way for their business trip and for me, its just more on pure eating~

One of the business partner, introduce me to his small little hometown where by a few streets away is his grandmother’s place. This small little town is call Pusing, which is located about 20 minutes drive from Ipoh town towards north. If you ask me where the hell am I at the moment, the only answer I can provide you is, I do not know!

Its on Monday and the streets here are pretty quiet, a very peaceful town that every one is very friendly. Actually this town is a little Hakka town that according to my friend 90% of them are Hakka. So for hakka speaking people, this will be your chance to shine~

If you are talking about to stay in the town, this is the only hotel available which is Pusing Hotel and by far the biggest too, with only 4 rooms available. If you do plan to stay here, book early! :p

Then he brought me to this shop that sells one of the local specialty that have no signboard like Ah Seng Kopitiam or watsoever, the only thing for you to recognize is this Blue Zink corner shop with fruit stall right at the front.

or directly opposite you can see this gate . . .

This is the noodle that he is very keen on introducing me, as we are very far from heavy breakfast this morning or I would say a while ago, Its hard for me to finish this bowl by myself. If you guys know what is written in Mandarin, please help me translate.!

I ask the store owner what is their signature noodle, and they told me curry soup base is their best among neigbourhood. Well, give it a try then . .

Love the curry as its, very mild and light in flavor, right after taste is a bit spicy at the end whereby the coconut milk is not too milky yet the soup is aromatic with a bit pandan taste. Its totally different type of curry flavour I have tried so far and the best thing is according to my friend that the noodle is homemade by themselves that the texture taste a bit like laksa noodle and spaghetti, its very unique.

The best part does not only stop on the noodle, GUESS how much is this bowl of noodle? RM1.50 . . ( I was like haaaaaa ??!!! RM 1.50 where the hell can we get a meal in that kind of price.)

You will be surprise how cheap the food in this town is. Yet most of the stalls operate in this kopitiam are homecook style!

Another stall that the guy called Ah Chong highly recommend is his favourite Nyonya kuih stall.

There are 3 kuih stalls operate side by side that sells different type’s of kuih~

This uncle that sells a bit of nyonya kuih style which is highly recommended by my friend.

We bought everything in the stalls 2 pieces each that comes out in a 2 big bag and it cost us RM8.70 which our jaw drop again. This uncle made his kuih fresh daily and alot of his business are more on neighbourhood business.

I am definitely coming back for this uncle again as the kuih is good, aromatic and nice!

another stalls that selling other types of kuih~

Okay, now that’s the question . .. . HOW to come here right? I have no freaking idea but then if you can find PUSING Police Station then you can find this place easily as its just about a row of shop houses away~

If you are asking me, if you want some cheap nice food, PUSING town is one of the place to hunt for. I will sure be back for their food again if there is a chance and will ta pau a whole big bag of Kuih back to Penang or KL.

-= Ka Ching =-

Food Rating 8/10, pretty good and recommended~ -Stamped-

–Warning– This is based on my individual taste. Try it at your own risk-

Road trip for food is definitely fun, especially when you go with a bunch of all hungry eaters that are responsible to eat and pay only, as on the way up north to Penang, we decided to do a little food hunt in Ipoh for early breakfast, and I have dine before at Ming Court Dim Sum which is quite disappointing . .This round, we all agree to try out the famous Foh San Dim Sum which I heard so much over other bloggers or they rate it as best dim sum in Ipoh.

We reach around 11am and there are still strong crowd inside the restaurant, with many people waiting for tables, as I have heard that strong crowd will pour into this outlet as early as 7am-9am which is the most peak. .

They used to operate in a smaller building as their business boom that had attracted many people from near and far, this is the new restaurant outlook which had expanded to 2 times bigger compare to their old outlet according to my friend.

Modern tea house with nice floor titles, wooden chairs and marble and wooden tables are all well place around the restaurant. Now in order to get tables for pax of 10 person, all of us spread out equally into 4 sections, 2 at the bottom left and right and upper floor left and right. It really depends on your observation and luck to get a table, as you have to monitor your table closely with other public customer around too. . .

If you come at 11am, quite a number of items are sold out, which is some of their signature item . . will come back again for next round . .

MIGF (The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2011) had kick off early this month and for many reason, all the best participating restaurant and hotels will showcase best of their craftsmanship in food to ensure most customers will enjoy their special menu which will last for 1 month only, 1st OCT to 31st OCT.

For this round, me and some friends went to Chynna which they do have MIGF menu too, also is one of the top Chinese restaurant in our list for us to dine and recommend, that so far their food had always maintain in top quality, which we rarely come upon any disappointing or below par or I would say it is very hard for me to say NO when comes to Chynna. The superman behind the kitchen is Chef Lam.

The restaurant is decorated with more like Shanghai feel with Chinese painted pictures on the plate and big red lantern and classic Chinese herb shop drawer on the wall . .

Then you will be greeted with the traditional chinese pouring tea onto your cup. The taste from this pouring process is very unique and will end up give you some bubble foam on top of the tea.

Chilled alaska king crab leg, chili paste seafood skewer & brine momotaro tomato (阿拉斯加帝王蟹配海鲜桃太郎番茄)

Start of with their first dish, that it look rather simple, yet it taste delicious, was first ask to try out the king crab first, which is sweet, a bit chill and the meat is very fresh, just eat it like that is good enough, follow by the tomato – seriously I don take tomato like that, but was persuaded by the chef I have to try, that he did a special way to this tomato. Once bite inside my mouth, the juice really burst inside and so much juice in it. I have never taste so juicy tomato before and I sure do not mind to have another 3 more. Chili paste skewer is just simple and nice.

Follow by Double boiled snakehead nourishing tonic soup with fresh milk and shark’s fin (滋补生鱼水奶炖翅)

Clear in taste, very mild in milk taste, and it is so appetizing that I just finish this bowl within seconds, and it was a slab of shark fin in it that I just slowly enjoy every bite of it.

Stewed Short Ribs with Charcoal garlic & Roasted onion potato (壮士琵琶骨)

Among the list, this was the star of the night, just by the look and slight gravy that flow down from the meat makes me swallow my sliver before eating it. I just cut into small pieces and enjoy bit by bits, that it is so soft that nearly melt in my mouth. Really one of the best short ribs that I have come across. The fried onion rings do taste like indian herbs a bit on muruku taste. I just enjoy my pairing of roasted onion potato and the short ribs. Just perfect!

Salted plum Lime Sorbet (话梅青柠雪葩)

A simple and chill appetizer that I just enjoy, cuz its lime sorbet smooth and soft.

Duet Deep Sea Grouper – Olive oil blended green spinach sauce & Dragon Fruits sauce (红绿鸳鸯深海星斑)

in dragon fruit sauce is pretty unique as its a bit sweet sour taste and the fish meat is so soft indicate that its fresh.

Thick Gruel Japanese Rice with Fresh peeled crab meet in lobster reduction (鲜蟹龙皇汁泡日本饭)

by the time reach this dish, I was pretty filled up already and saw this portion its pretty big. Told myself that I am going to have a few spoon then leave it aside. After the first spoon into my mouth, I just finish the whole plate in the end broth is so sweet and tasty that cook along with the Japanese rice which cook to perfection.

Black Chocolate Partait with five nuts & sweet potato Chba Cha mousse Yam Ice Cream (五仁黑巧克力蛋糕配摸遮厘)

comes to the choco parfait, I get to bite on some chuncky nuts and the choco itself is thick enough to pair well with the nut.

and the pudding, I wish I have a bigger scoop of the yam ice-cream as it taste soo nice where I kinda miss the taste of it.

At the end of the meal by paying RM178++ I would say its a value worth for the set. Again, Chynna did not disappoint us. . Recommended MIGF menu by me.

Hurry, as the limited time menu will end on 31st Oct

Sometimes, when you crave for Bak Kut Teh, you need not drive all the way to Klang for your favorite stall, sometimes, some where nearby or some where in a commercial area will have a nice BKT shop that was until recently, we found new love for our BKT outing stall which is this Xingang Bak Kut Teh, that located a street away from Leisure Mall, Cheras.

We were told that this restaurant serve authentic Klang homecook recipe Bak Kut Teh and immediately we arrange to drop by.

It was Sunday late lunch, and there are quite a number of crowds here too. As we sat down, the crowd start pouring in till near full house.

Normal menu they have here, and one thing that caught our eyes was their pricing. I would say a bit cheaper compare to those places like Jalan Ipoh or KL area.

One unique thing in this shop is that, you can choose how your Bak Kut Teh to be served, can be either in Claypot or in glass bowl like those in Klang, pricing definitely will be slightly different as for me, I always prefer mine in Claypot.

We ordered, Dry Pork Ribs mix with Trotter pot to start off with and its quite a surprise to me that they add in ladies finger in it. It was cook till quite dry, that the think soy sauce able to coat with the meat, and you have to stir it fast to prevent the meat from sticking at the side or base of the pot. Will be a very good companion to eat along with rice, as it is not too salty that just nice.

Claypot Ribs @ RM 9 that served, just enough for me, if I am eating by myself, and by this time, I just cant wait to taste on their soup. The soup that definately comes to my liking, its a bit more strong in herbs taste that I have always like, and the soup is not too watery. Can just taste out that they use alot of pork ribs to cook along as the soup taste sweet too.

Best of all, the soup can be refill, and I had 4 bowls of the soup~

One of my favourite that I would not really miss is pig’s spare part. ‘Intestine and Stomach’ @ RM 8 as I find it cheaply price with the generous amount of spare part that they gave me. I love the intestine, as its been stuff into multi layer style, just nice to chew and its wash till clean that do not have those weird taste.

Claypot Big Bone @ RM 18, cook till the meat is soft and dip into my garlic chili with thick soy sauce is just perfect.

Vegetable in Garlic Sauce @ RM 7

Besides serving Bak Kut teh, they do have something special in da house with some of their dish are own creation and we try out their Apple Chicken which is something that I have never tried out before, deep fried first then shower with their own homemade apple sauce. Taste pretty unique, that have the sweetness of apple and crispy on the outer layer. I would say, worth to try~

I am just so jealous of you that work nearby the area, as they do have set lunch for their Bak Kut Teh just for RM 9 that served along with Rice + Bak Kut Teh + Vege + Chinese Tea. Where to find this kind of promo wor, where usually I eat myself also easily cost RM13-RM16.

Well, this shop also do have steam fish, that I accidentally deleted that picture in my camera, which comes in 4 flavours, I did try out their garlic ginger steam fish, that I like how they did their own mixture and strong in garlic taste and ginger taste.

This place had add into my list of bak kut teh hunting place, and I would say, worth recommending to try out if you love those kind of soup base, a bit stronger in herbal taste, soup is also a bit thicker. Recommended place~

Remark: The dish have 3 sizes to choose from, pricing above is base on our order as some is medium, some is small.

A place that I used to come often when I was a kid with my grandparents, that I cant event remember when was the last time I been here. At this field at the end of the corner, there is one place that host many food. One of the reason, most people are here during lunch to tea time is for Lok Lok. This food court that have 2 different sessions that on the left side as where you see now is selling lok lok, char koey teow, and a few other stuff and during night, you will see another different version at CKLam’s Blog. (click here)

This place is no longer famous to only local crowds, whereby now it had attracted alot of people from other states and for so many havent been here, decided to take my KL friends to visit this place. I am quite surprise that its super pack that so many people are hunting for tables. Of course when you are talking about, holiday in Penang, most of the hawker center will be packed with people.

Types of lok lok that you can choose from, frozen food, to fresh meats and of course this were not only the option as the full option can filled up the whole table, as we ask the auntie remove those that we are not interested, and when we wanted, we can just head to their stalls and grab back to our table.

In this area, there are about 3-6 lok lok stalls and I guess their difference is their satay sauce. Usually I mix all in, as the smaller bowl is to add in more spicy, that I can even sweat after having a few sticks.

Of course one of the reason that many people are here is that, Padang Brown Lok Lok are consider one of the cheapest rate, whereby my KL friends also got shock on their pricing.

Next I was hunting for other food beside Lok Lok then I saw this stall located at the very far corner are packed with people, is this little Yong Tau Fu stall. Of course when you mention that Yong Tau Fu, mostly will relate back to Ampang, but Penang version of Yong Tau Fu is very much different compare to the KL version.

So I decide to join the crowd and wanted to test how nice is this stall since its packed with elderly also, and I guess its something healthy? :p Price is very reasonable as its stated up in the board.

and I can tell you that, all those ‘kiasu’ uncle and auntie is like rushing in clipping the choices of food they want, whereby its like a closing down sale!

So you queue up in one end, take a bowl and chopsticks, then with all the choices available on the table like pig intestine, pork ball, taiwan sausages, homemade fish ball, bean curd, that many more to offer, then you just pass your bowl to the owner and let him cut.

After 25 minutes in the queue, finally, this is my super big bowl of Yong Tau Fu filled with lots of ingredient, that I bring over to the table, the rest of the 4 of them their jaw dropped and ask me why so big bowl! Cuz I find it cheap and only cost me RM17 for this whole bowl.

Once I put down, they whole bowl starting to get drained out, the soup taste so good and sweet, that they keep drinking on the soup till the last drop and, homemade fish ball is superb, bouncy and soft, their own homemade items, I guess its a must take item that all make it very nice!

No wonder the queue is so long as this is one of a nice Yong Tau Fu stall that I have miss those kind of taste~

Its a highly Recommended stall if you do drop by at this area!

*NON-HALAL

-= Ka Ching =-

Food Rating 8/10, good place to hunt for food!~Recommended~ ~-Stamped-

–Warning– This is based on my individual taste. Try it at your own risk-

The funny thing is that, when May Ling ask me to join her for dinner and told me the name of the restaurant I was like hah? again and again. .. as the restaurant name is called Ricetaurant which is located in Bangsar Village 2 which I cant even remember when is the last time that I came here.

The changes here is quite alot that now host quite a number of nice cafe’s and restaurant in this building.

Get to know one of the reason that why the restaurant is name like that because of Asian’s culture that most of us need to have rice on most of our meals.

Ricetaurant offers best of dishes around the region that makes it a bit fusion style.

I like the restaurant design in such a way that, it looks like a small little hidden cafe in some ally when I was in Melbourne, with tree trunk and very classic kitchen utensils to be party of the design.

The place is not big, but good enough to provide us a very comfy dining space, with paintings on the wall and open space kitchen right in the corner.

I like their menu, it reminds me when I was in primary school on maths homework exercise book. Price wise is pretty decent which is not too over price with their portion being served.

1) Apple, Elderflower and Lychee – just a perfect drink that blend till just perfect that I can taste the apple skin and very tiny small cubes of lychee – Recommended

2) Hainanese Tea

3) Pineapple, Orange and Mint

Chinese Olives & Seafood Fried Rice smells good, that already know enough ‘wok hei’. The rice were fried till perfect dry, very fragrant in taste and just find that the black pepper taste slightly over power the overall taste. If they reduce a bit, it would be perfect.

One of my favourite of the night is Teriyaki Chicken, which had been marinated very well, then cook along that the chicken is soft and every piece that I bite, the chicken is well coat with the sauce. Recommended

A plain simple fried rice, that lean towards very simple chinese style is Chicken and Long Bean Fried Rice. Very mild in taste yet fragrant in wok hei and if you eat along with some curry dishes, just good enough to be satisfied for me.

Another star of the night is Claypot Chicken, Yam and Dried Prawns in Nam Yue Sauce. Cook so well that the gravy is just thick enough, and some yam that just melts along with it, with cubes of chicken is soft and perfect to eat along with rice. – Recommended

Sweet and Sour Fish

If I am not mistaken this is Belacan Fried Chicken which is out of my expectation, fried crisply and by dipping with the sauce adds a bit kick but I still think eat it plain is much better and along with any of the fried rice.

If you love cuisine from east, then this is another must order dish - Ayam Percik with Nasi Ulam

The trick is, you must mix everything up Oxtail Asam Pedas, Sambal Belacan, Salted Egg, Ulam-ulam, Salted Fish and then eat along. Taste is pretty authentic with the ones I have tried before.

After we are so full, I still decide to try out their Black Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk. Sticky enough, as the black stick rice cook till its soft and its a suprise that they add in lychee that makes it natural sweet on fruits, as I have always like mine to mix along with coconut milk which makes it perfect. Not many places I get to enjoy this and certainly this is one of the recommended desert for me.

After the whole meal, we are just satisfied and surely we are going to return for more, as most of the dish here are quite authentic and nice.

It was used to be an old uncle that scoop and prepare this and I believe now had been taken over by his son.

This is what is called Penang famous Cendul, its filled with shaved ice, green grass jelly, red bean and coconut milk ontop, lastly just topped with some gula melaka. Undoubtly, this little bowl sure will satisfy your crave and cools you down under this hot weather.

Like some of my KL friends did, they are satisfied and enjoying every sip of it.

Next destination is this place where no doubt that recently Penang Laksa had been in the list of world top 10 food that must eat which I am surely proud off and many of my friends that come Penang the first thing they mention is they want to eat Asam Laksa.

I was recently introduce to this stall by my friend that this is another new joint that I found that served good laksa as I find that the one at Ayer Itam Market is very commercialise and I do not really like the taste of it. I find that this taste much better.

This few hawker stalls is located at the round about of Ayer Itam Junction and now it had attracted many other local tourist as when I was there, alot people speak cantonese in the area.

This is one fine bowl of laksa that comes with a lot of mixture of vegetable such as finely sliced vegetables including onions, cucumber, red chillis, pineapple, lettuce, mint and pink bunga kantan then shower a few rounds with sour and and a bit spicy soup base, also a spoonfull of ‘Heh Koh’ (prawn paste). RM3.50

The noodle is silky smooth and slurp it all the way into my mouth, texture of it a bit chewy that comes to my liking. Soup base is one of my prefered choice as it cook along with fish meat that had been smash and every sip I can bite some of the fish meat. It is sour and spicy enough that can satisfy my crave.

Next stall that is quite famous among there is this Duck Meat Koey Teow Soup that the soup is very aromatic with its well cook soup base with duck bone, pork bone and a few other ingredients that make it sweet, served along with duck meat and some pork lard to make it superb in taste. RM 3.50

Penang Rojak is also another dish that you must have which is a mixture of fruits and mix with prawn paste. This is not the best stall and find that the prawn paste is quite salty and its expensive as for this small portion its RM4.
