Best Korean BBQ – Sae Ma Gul BBQ @ Solaris, Mont Kiara, KL

Korean food. How many of you are a fan of Korean Food? It had been quite a while since I discover this place where I rate one of my top Korean BBQ to visit. Operate by Korean couple, and their crowd is mostly Korean’s before slowly locals discover this place.

[close down since Aug 2018]

Love the vibe of this place where it makes me feel like I am eating in Korea where most of the crowd are speaking in Koreans.

This place is constantly full, they do not take reservation as per my understanding.

On the wall, it teaches you on what are the tricks to make good Korean BBQ.

Menu are pretty straight forward . .

Like any other Korean restaurant/BBq they are pretty generous with the sides. One of their signature here is their special chilli and onion sauce. Lettuce, green chillies and garlic are to add on flavours in bbq and wrap long with meat.

The usual dish we would order is this Kimchi Jigye (Kimchi Stew) @ RM 13. Mild spicy with sour end, just to my liking.

Haemul Pa Jeon (Korean Pancake) @ RM 20 is abit inconsistancy as sometimes its cook to perfection and sometimes its still abit raw.

Not too miss out my fav item which is their Jjuggumi Sutbul Galbi (Baby Octopus) @ RM 23 , Mok Sal (Pork Shoulder) @ RM 20  & Gochujang Sam Gyeop Sal (Spicy Pork Belly) @ RM 23

Lets Grill and eat as I love their marination and quality of meat that being served.

Another signature of theirs which is pretty well known to many are Choirutan Jumoekbab (Spicy Rice Ball) @ RM 20 as you this portion is pretty huge. Comes with a pair of plastic gloves.

What we need to do is wear the gloves, mix all the ingredients in there. . .

Then roll it in circle motion till it had become rice ball. It can be depending on the size that you have created and can roll into about 5-10 rice balls.

Love the pungent taste, with hint of kimchi, pretty spicy and taste of seaweed is good. You can either eat it raw like that or you can put it to grill . After grill it makes it like our clay-pot chicken rice with slightly burnt end and it pulls the fragrant of kimchi and seaweed stronger. We love it to be grilled.

Remember, the best way to enjoy the BBQ here is by taking the grill meat, wrap with lettuce, a mini grill slice of garlic with their onion and chilli sauce.

Best advise to go along with their special mix by ordering a bottle of soju and a bottle of Tiger beer then mix a shot of soju and filled the rest up with Tiger Beer.. I never miss the combo whenever I am here. That’s how Korean’s enjoy their BBQ. 🙂

Recommended as one of my top 3 Korean BBQ shop.

  • Can you recommend a Korean barbecue restaurant in kuala Lumpur which would have halal beef and chicken? I know all Korean restaurants serve pork but if the beef and chicken are obtained from suppliers with halal meat, i am sute even Muslims can enioy koram bbq. :)

    • Hey Ay,

There are a few actually as below:

      1) Bugolgi brothers (http://www.taufulou.com/korean_burgers/)
      2) SweetTree at Ampang which my colleague loves it
      3) Jung Won- Jalan Ampang Hilir, apparently my colleague told me they use halal meat.
      3) or Seoul Garden which is the most common of all.
