Category

About a month ago when I was at Pavilion KL, then saw this long queue in this new Taiwanese bubble milk tea shop Chicha San Chen which apparently from Taiwan. this is like a cafe, as you walk towards near the shop, you will smell strong scent of fresh brew tea.

Looking at the queue and the smell is good, we decided to give it a try too. Start queuing. It seems the que is long because alot people in the line like me. We are not sure what to order as everything seems unique. You can even customize your own tea drink too.

As good as the tea gets, could this be perhaps one of the best bubble milk tea shop in KL? I presume this is quite expensive and although I love the strong tea taste but it seems for me will be one time off.

黑鲸 The Black Whale is actually one of my favourite bubble milk tea in KL. Could they be one of the best boba milk tea in KL? They are definitely in my top 3. However is the trend still going strong? I only felt that these of my top 4 brands that I like still standing strong!

The sequence goes like this:

  1. the Black Whale
  2. Koi
  3. The Alley
  4. Tealive

The Black whale (2)

I have tried a few of their outlets and consistancy is the hardest in F&B. Only 2 outlet which I constantly visit and their consistancy is there which are:

  1. The Black Whale Kepong
  2. The Black Whale Sunway Pyramid

The rest of the outlets are down the drain. Either too sweet or too bland.

Just saw I have some pictures over this and I tried Xing Fu Tang for the first time when they open their outlet in Kepong. One of the reason did not hit to SS15 is because of the crazy queue. Xing Fu Tang finally in Malaysia had make its famous mark of boba milk tea in overseas.

Xing Fu Tang (1)

Xing Fu Tang in Kepong was one of the first few outlets expansion in Klang Valley. Queue every where was crazy and their menu is very simple. Just a few SKU and with their signature as below.

Xing Fu Tang (2)

Brown Sugar boba is cooked fresh and stir right infront of you. A lot of friends told me that it us so unhealthy when they put the hot brown sugar n boba into the cup. It to me a while to come into realization that izint what we have our take away food in “bungkus version” and noodles are hot?

Xing Fu Tang (3)

Xing Fu Tang (4)

Their signature drink is rather simple. A coated brown sugar around the cup, filled with milk, top with another layer of sugar then burnt it to melt to create a crips layer for you.

Xing Fu Tang (5)

Xing Fu Tang (6)

While waiting for your drink, try your wish luck from this massive stick. See which of the stick stick out compare to the rest, take the stick out and see what is the number then match back on the little pockets on the wall. that will be the luck of what you wish for.

Xing Fu Tang (10)

Brown Sugar Boba Milk  @ RM 12.50

Xing Fu Tang (11)

Well, I have tried a few outlet of Xing Fu Tang even all the way for Xing Fu Tang in Penang. Conclusion is different outlet different taste but this branch in Kepong is pretty good.

Love the brown sugar taste which is slightly quite strong, the little biting crips from the burnt sugar and fresh milk is prominent. the flavors blend well.

Xing Fu Tang (12)

If you ask me what is my fav brand right now, I would say The Black Whale (a local brand- that I have yet blog). Xing Fu Tang remains top 3 in my list for their signature series.

The Whale Tea (6)

Outlet looks quite decent. Not too sure where is this brand from.

The Whale Tea (1)

By Recommendations, the cashier recommend their avocado as their must order item but we were quite full. So decided to try the classic one.

The Whale Tea (2)

The Whale Tea (3)

Menu looks quite standard but the unique one is their siganture is Avocado

The Whale Tea (4)

The Whale Tea (7)

We just order their signature Flaming Brown Sugar Bubble Whale Tea @ RM 12.90. By the look itself do look quite dull and plain. Guess what? after a few sips, I never finish and got just chuck it it off.

The Whale Tea (5)

Among the crazy hype of bubble milk tea in KL, this is standing the last spot in my chart.

As I was trying out Kepong outlet and why there is a huge different till only realise there is a different after my 3rd visit to the outlet and currently I am blogging this.

IS The Black Whale and The Whale Tea the same? They have quite similiar interior design.
