Coffee Place

I have been hangning out alot in Solaris KL recently, and its turning into more like a little Korean Village that alot of Korean eatery popping out in most of the corner around this area and also coffee place. Quite a number that you can hunt too such as LewisGene (that I didnt blog about it) which is one of my favourite. Now there is one new coffee joint that open in a very hidden corner yet there are many people know about it even though its been in business for less than 2 weeks. Impressive.

moc (1)

Ministry of Coffee is another new coffee joint that to be added into the area and its starting to gain its popularity among many coffee lovers.

moc (2)

I think by far this is one of the biggest coffee place that I have come across with mezzanine floor and little garage style concept + dining area on the back end. This is my third time here for less than 2 weeks. .

One of the route that I used quite often when heading to Kota Damansara to avoid those crazy jam in The Curve area, I always tend to cut through from BU housing area with a corner junction turning into Tropinaca area. Surely I have seen this J&D Espresso countless time and its a place I have always wanted to go yet there is no action from my end till recently that coffee hunter Eric Yong invite for coffee.

j&D (1)

If you are coming from Sprint turning into BU housing area and heading to Tropicana Golf Club, you would not miss this corner shoplot with this J&D sitting at the corner and some other furniture shop shape around them.

j&D (2)

j&D (3)

Its a very cozy place to come for coffee as the place is build in modern contemporary style.

j&D (4)

Menu are pretty decent as they do have all day breakfast as after I read comment from 4square and some blogs, I decided to skip on their food and only grab their coffee.

j&D (5)

I love their indoor seating, especially with their 3 monkey design on the wall . .

j&D (6)

If you wish to have more little private section of 2, just head to the little section here which is well light up and comfortable enough to spill your thoughts and feelings.

j&D (7)

 I have here is Latte. . .

j&D (8)

 Flat White

j&D (9)

Iced mocha

Overall, this would not be the type of coffee taste I prefer as I find the taste of milk overpower the coffee which is too mild, yet could not bring up the fragrant of the coffee. No doubt its one of a nice place to hang out for meetings and a good private chat in this hidden corner yet I guess they have to improve on their food too .. 🙂

Last weekend, Eric Yong invited for coffee and this guy is seriously a coffeeholic, of course my normal question is where to for coffee? Then he mention, lets head over to Section 13 for coffee and I was stunned for a while? There got coffee and he said yes, the Artisan Roast HQ is there and of course without hesitation, I change and head over as I heard so much about this place.

artisan (1)

At first I drive thru this area pretty fast that miss out the location as its being block by a few tress then I think I was blind to miss out the sign COFFEE that place at the barrel there.

artisan (2)

Upon entering this outlet, I was so in love with their design as its more like a retouch of a abandoned factory, and I always love this kind of coffee concept.

artisan (3)

artisan (4)

Dessert for you to go along with your coffee which is mostly chocolate base. It would not go wrong with coffee.

artisan (5)

for Sunday and at this factory location, I must say the its impressive how they manage to filled up the whole place as nowdays people just hunt for coffee.

artisan (6)

If you do not like to be seated downstairs, then head up on their mezzanine floor.

artisan (7)

My Usual will always to have a Latte to go on first as one of the drink that I am really used to. The taste is a bit a bitter end as I prefer a lighter taste of taste. Well, for coffee lover like Eric, he just loves it as its kick enough.

If you are looking for chill weekend to hang out, out from busy area, then this place would be ideal.

Another newly open cafe in old Hartamas area which is next to Petronas is this place known as Podgy and The Bankers. Love their name as its pretty catchy.

Not only that, their signage is also pretty cool as it instantly connect me to that movie The Great Gatsby.

podgy and banker (1)

One great thing about them opening in this location is that, its easy to find parking and I am pretty sure that they do have their strong follower, if not a coffee place would not open in this neighborhood as its pretty dead.

podgy and banker (2)

podgy and banker (3)

Read from other bloggers, this place is actually open by the boys who previously work in Butter & Beans in Section 17. .  Well, don really know who they are yet they seems pretty well known among the crowds.

Latte @ RM 10
Cappucino @ RM 10
Orange Cake @ RM 7 – love the orange cake is its simple and nice yet pairs well with my coffee.

According to some source, the coffee beans that they are actually using Kuda Mas, a single origin Mandheling variety with dark, well-rounded notes complemented by hints of cocoa.

Not a bad place to hang out, if you need some quiet place yet little more attentive, this would be the place to be.

Last round when I was in Penang, after much disappointment from dinner at Patio Bar De Tapas, we decided to go for second round for coffee. Then I was introduce to this hip chic place by my best friend, De Yard Cafe.

the Yard (1)

From the outlet it looks like a normal shop with not much interesting as at their living area only one table. The trick is you have to head up stairs then you will be surprise.

the Yard (2)

De Yard exudes an almost industrial, rustic-like feel. If you’re into quirky things, this place will certainly appeal. Of late, the café has removed their Phoenix Darts machine, making room for a music performance corner.

the Yard (3)

Its a place for quick bites and get together for lively chats, more like a place for you to express yourself or when you are stress, its great to find a friend to tell them here.

the Yard (4)

the Yard (5)

Along the staircase, its very well decorated with wooden items and wall painting with words. Its like you are entering a new dimension.

the Yard (6)

the Yard (7)

Once you reach up here, there are 2 rooms available as I love this area, that give syou the feeling of so secretive and mysterious with only 2 back light from behind and some tables are lit up with candles. That is why I said its a great place to express yourself. 😀 Besides that, from time to time, they have late nights of indie acoustics, open mic evenings and poetry night sessions. If think you have some talent to show, please do not feel shy as you are able to take over the stage by letting the owner Adelyn know. .

the Yard (8)

Since that room is pretty dim, we decided to conqeer the next area. A place that is filled with wooden tables and chairs with different design and wall are filled with alot of signatures and quote from many people that visit this place.

the Yard (9)

the Yard (10)

Menu are rather straight forward as they are filled with bites as mention and if you need some food to filled in more space, they have something prepare for you.

the Yard (11)

the Yard (12)

Since they are doing Budweiser promotion, we decided to order 2 bucket for 3 of us guys to drinks . ..

the Yard (13)

The girls got themselves coffee and some even order food. Food was not so impressive so I forgo not to take on it. . 😀

the Yard (14)

This are all the siau pohs and siau kia’s that every time accompany me when I am back .. 😀

Would be a great hangout place also hidden place. Do discover yourself.

Coffee joints, there have tons of it and I will start publishing it one by one after I have visited quite a few. Starting off with Coffee Societe, as this outlet had been a huge buzz by alot of social media user and also some oversea magazine rate this place one of the best coffee outlet around the area.

To me, its a mix reaction as when I first discover this outlet early last year after I visited one of the offices up there and decided to make a take away coffee to give it a try. It gave me disappointment as I do notice that they are some coffee place that try to do similar to Melbourne. . Then months later where the buzz came in thru instagram and FB then decided to give it a try another round. Its different story then.

coffee (1)

This coffee joint is operate by young group of owners if I am not mistaken and they are implicating the same similiar coffee culture in Melbourne where its a big thing there. No doubt that till date they have done it well.

coffee (2)

For coffee lovers, they have make this as one of the favourite joint as they use their own house blend.

coffee (3)

not only that, their coffee is pretty good, and also they have Chai Latte, which is something that you dont really get in many coffee outlets and its a big hit in Melbourne too.

coffee (4)

Their outlet cleverly play with alot of wood to make the whole ambiance pretty comfy for a coffee break.

coffee (5)

 Water are self service.

coffee (6)

coffee (7)

coffee (8)

Price here are pretty reasonable . .

coffee (9)

Cafe Mocha @ RM 8.90

coffee (11)

A glass of mocha here is done prefect. The froth is smooth, coffee is serve warm and the coffee aroma is pretty well balance off. Not so acidic and a nice coffee for a great start.

coffee (10)

Picolo Latte @ RM 6.90

This place had turn out to be a regular joints for many people and also as one of my top list coffee place to recommend if you love coffee.
