Little did I know that Marrybrown is actually a local homegrown chain. Visited one of their latest Marrybrown outlet at Taman Melawati Mall which is quite impressive for a local chain.

Marry Brown (2)

Being a local Malaysian brand, for this special menu, Marrybrown is bringing us back the kampung taste by introducing 2 new item into their menu. Marrybrown Rendang Ayam series, We can also get it on Marrybrown delivery by food delivery service in Kuala Lumpur too.

Marry Brown (8)

Rendang had made its mark worldwide for its umami taste and being featured in many cook shows or reality cook shows. A dish known worldwide, rich with history and cultural significance which brings the community together as one.

Currently one of their best seller is Rendang Ayam combo. A classic recipe seasoned with herbs and spices that will gives you the familiar as it is cook with a similar traditional cooking method into the preparation of the dish to remain its authentically rich and flavourful taste.

Marry Brown (3)

For a fast food chain, I am really impress with their Ayam Rendang as the spices are spot on. Not the usual typical extra spicy flavour but the mixture is well balance with fragrance of herbs and spicy is just nice. Indeed a classic dish. Chicken is soft and juicy too.

Marry Brown (9)
Marry Brown (10)

Next, they have added on Burger Ayam Rendang @ RM 12.50. A set that comes with a drink and pack of fries.

Marry Brown (6)

Quite like the chicken and the rendang sauce added ontop gives a unique taste. Instead of liking the rice, now I prefer the burger more (as in individual preference).

Marry Brown (4)

A set which is just nice to my liking. Currently the special seasonal set is only available from 19 September 2019 till 3 November 2019 at selected Marrybrown outlets across Malaysia.

Fried chicken is a favourite food among Malaysians and we will never get bored of it. So it’s great news for all of us that, in conjunction with Merdeka Day, Texas Chicken Malaysia is going to pamper all of us with a special treat!

Texas Chicken (2)

Texas Chicken Malaysia’s Merdeka Deal is happening this 31 August 2019 and you can get 2 pieces of chicken and 1 refillable drink for only RM 6.90 (normal RM14.90). For such a price, how can we not top up their sides especially one of my personal favourites, their famous Honey-Butter Biscuit for only RM 1.60. You can choose others in the list too, such as Mashed Potatoes, Coleslaw or Flavoured Rice.

Texas Chicken (3)

Best of all, is that this awesome deal is happening in every outlet of Texas Chicken Malaysia.

There are tons of Nasi Kandar in KL, but which one do you like. One of my favourite is Mohd Yaseem Penang Nasi Kandar at Chow Kit. One of a truely great authentic taste from Penang. I was first introduce by my friend 10 years ago when I first came down to KL and recently tried it back again. Still pretty good as it is.

Mohd Yaseem (1)

Like many nasi kandar in kl, the offerings are pretty much the same. From vegetable, fish meat, mutton, beef, seafood. Prices certainly comes in a bomb if you touch any of the seafood.

Mohd Yaseem (2)

Mohd Yaseem (3)

It was after work last week and decided to ‘tapau’ this back as just sit right behind the office tower where I am working. My usual order are, cabbage, beef and chicken, it comes with a total of RM 12. Price is pretty decent. Of course you must have flood gravy in your rice to make it punch with flavour.

Mohd Yaseem (4)

Love the multiple burst of flavour in your mouth, from spicy, sour, herbs fragrant, sweet and it is indeed a good mix. Love it. One of the best nasi kandar in KL.

This place is definitely top in my list if you compare to my usual Kayu or Pelita or even easily beats Line Clear KL for its taste. The set back is only parking around the area. If you come after 9pm just park in front the shop at the road side.

If you guys do have your fav nasi kandar that is da bomb, do leave a comment below. Will try to check it out.

I am pretty sure that most of you have known this brand, The Chicken Rice Shop by now. A brand that is no stranger to most of us whenever it comes to a chicken rice chain shop. They are located in nearly every mall in the country. To mark their milestone in achieving 100 outlets, The Chicken Rice Shop will be running their Jom Sama-Sama Makan 100 Outlets Celebration to reward their customers that have been with them all these years.

It’s a good thing that I decided to come early that day to avoid the busy crowd because it’s usually packed all day long!

The Chicken Rice Shop (32)

On 1st July 2019, the first 100 tables will receive a FREE TCRS Single Combo Meal Voucher, TCRS Cooler Bag and TCRS Special 100 Outlets T-Shirt. This free giveaway starts from 12.30pm while stocks last.

Followed by their RM10 For 2 Single Combo Meal Set from 2 – 5 July 2019, starting from 12.30pm-1.30pm with a minimum dine-in of 2 pax. That’s right! You and your friend can enjoy 2 Single Combo Meal Sets as the picture above for only RM10!

The Chicken Rice Shop (1)

The Chicken Rice shop is indeed no stranger to me as I have been dining in at their restaurant since my college days, which is about 15 years ago. Also, whenever my Malay friends ask for chicken rice recommendations, this is one of the shops that I always recommend. The consistency of their product has always been there which always impresses me.

The Chicken Rice Shop (2)

The Chicken Rice Shop (35)

Over the years, their menu has expanded and they now serve a variety of chicken aside from their Roasted or Steamed Chicken.

The Chicken Rice Shop (3)

This is also their latest outlook for their outlet.

The Chicken Rice Shop (4)

from left to right: Berrylicious, Lime Mint Supreme, Soya Rainbow, Lychee Tealicious, Berry Jelly Fizz, Famous Kuching 3 Layer Tea and Cendolcino.

The Chicken Rice Shop (16)

If you come with a big group or team, their Family Fiesta Set for 5-6 pax @ RM 119.55 is indeed more than enough. I feel that it is possible to feed 7-8 pax instead. It comes with a huge range of dishes that packs your table like you are having a buffet spread.

The Chicken Rice Shop (17)

The Chicken Rice Shop (18)

I am not a fan of ladies’ fingers but I do like how they made their Spicy Savoury Ladies’ Fingers. It is nicely cooked and topped with their chili and soy sauce which is just perfect. The Kerabu Mango also has its own unique taste as the mango slices are thin and sour enough. Among these 2, I enjoy the Spicy Savoury Ladies’ Fingers more.

The Chicken Rice Shop (25)

The Chicken Rice Shop (19)

Hong Kong Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce

The Chicken Rice Shop (20)

Their Roast Chicken is soft and juicy. What’s important to me is the soy sauce base. Steamed Chicken is done well too.

The Chicken Rice Shop (21)

The Chicken Rice Shop (22)

Tofu with Oyster Sauce

The Chicken Rice Shop (23)

Famous Stuffed Fish Ball is pretty good too. Soft and slightly bouncy, it comes with juicy minced chicken filling too.

The Chicken Rice Shop (24)

One of my favourites is their Nyonya Pai Tee with its crispy cup crust and filling! Remember to drench it with their chili sauce. The quality has very much maintained since many years back.

The Chicken Rice Shop (9)

The taste of the Nyonya Assam Fish is like Asam Pedas which is sour and mild spicy end. If you love BBQ Chicken, this is indeed a good one as the bbq sauce is good.

One of the main item that you shall not miss on your table is their sauce. Chili and ginger sauce is a must have to eat along with the chicken. Dark soy sauce will be depending on your own taste preference.

The Chicken Rice Shop (36)

Lastly, Penang Cendol as a closure?

The Chicken Rice Shop is indeed one of my favourite HALAL Chicken Rice shop in the mall. Did my last Buka Puasa with my team in this place too.

Bubble tea fever is high! If you travel to certain countries in Asia, you will get to see bubble tea street. However over the months. Bubble tea industry is taking over Malaysia by storm. Now we do have our own famous bubble tea street in SS15. Interesting enough, some of my friend call it the new Zoo Negara. (just check out the brand logo)

There are alot of brands just fighting over a space in that area and I believe thanks to The Alley who started their first outlet over there and with their succession, they have created a massive competition within 9 months. A space where fill with students where they have a luxury of time yet queuing for your favourite boba is a common thing now.

Whats your favourite brand?

I certainly believe that there will be more coming into the area. What other Bubble Tea brands do let me know.

Last week, my friend send me a FB link that there is one Penang Mee Sotong that had been operating in SS14 Subang. So went to check him out. Seeni Special Mee Sotong indeed originated from Penang. He used to operate in Asia Cafe at Ayer Itam, Penang. He had been cooking his version of mee sotong for more than 10 years. So for regular folks in Penang that is looking for his Mee Goreng, now you have to drive all the way to KL to look for him as he no longer operates in Asia Cafe.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (4)

He had been moving locations since he was in KL over the past year. Currently, this is his latest location.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (5)

Cooked fresh sotong by batches daily with his special curry mix.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (6)

Fried individual plate per order. So do take some time to come up with your order.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (7)

Before serving, topped with a spoonful of squid and its special sauce to drench the fried noodle .

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (10)

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (9)

Before eating, remember to squeeze the lime given to give some hint of sourness in it. That is to open up a slight aroma from the squid.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (11)

Bon Apetite. as I order mine Mee Goreng Special @ RM 8. I have no idea what is the difference between the normal mee sotong @ RM 7. Will try again next round.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (12)

Do note that there are variety version of Penang Mee Sotong. This version is slightly dryer but is still one of the style.

Mee is slightly dyer compare to others, but topped with sotong, brings up the flavour if you mix everything well. I order mine extra spicy and the taste is just right to my liking. Comparing with the normal spicy, mine taste much better.

I would want to add extra sotong for my next visit. Slightly chewy and soft, curry spices is just right fragrant.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (2)

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (1)

Is this the best Penang mee gorong in KL? I believe so at the moment. If compare to local KL mee gorong, this flair slightly better, as I have not eaten any nice mee goreng yet. Perhaps some of you can recommend me then I could go check it out.

Seeni Special Mee Sotong (13)

After finish here, hapilly walk across to enjoy my nasi lemak fried chicken. This is 2 different stall. Chicken from the economy rice, the mutton curry and veggie is from the stall used to be Lim’s fried chicken. I am not too sure is it still the same stall but taste still the same which I believe it is the same. Still one of the place for best food in Subang in my list.

So yah, Penang folks now can have some joy as this stall gives you the slight Penang taste. The choices which is better when “no choice punya choice”
