Bubble tea fever is high! If you travel to certain countries in Asia, you will get to see bubble tea street. However over the months. Bubble tea industry is taking over Malaysia by storm. Now we do have our own famous bubble tea street in SS15. Interesting enough, some of my friend call it the new Zoo Negara. (just check out the brand logo)

There are alot of brands just fighting over a space in that area and I believe thanks to The Alley who started their first outlet over there and with their succession, they have created a massive competition within 9 months. A space where fill with students where they have a luxury of time yet queuing for your favourite boba is a common thing now.

Whats your favourite brand?

I certainly believe that there will be more coming into the area. What other Bubble Tea brands do let me know.

Not too sure how many decent Taiwan food we have in Klang Valley. One of my frequent visit outlet over past 2 years is Taipei Taipei. One of a restaurant that been serving quite consistent Taiwanese food.

Taipei Taipei (1)

This outlet is certainly classic as the interior resembles all the way back in 80’s.

Taipei Taipei (2)

Taipei Taipei (3)

Taipei Taipei (4)

Taipei Taipei (5)

Taipei Taipei (6)

Most of the classic street Taiwanese food is available in this menu. Of course price is slightly more expensive however the size is decent.

Taipei Taipei (7)

This is one of my favourite milk tea as I will always ended up two glass. Brown Sugar Tapioca Milk Tea @ RM 8.90. Love the creaminess and fragrant of tea in it. Pearl is pretty classic that is chewy to my liking.

Taipei Taipei (8)

Taipei Taipei (9)

One of their signature dish is this Taiwanese Style Marinated Pork Chop with rice @ RM 15.90.  A type of mix bowl Taiwanese rice that is filled with pork chop, tofu, egg and mix fermented sour veggie. Dip with their special soy sauce and mix it all around is flavourful! Portion is pretty decent too as the pork is thick and juicy.

Taipei Taipei (10)

Taipei Taipei (11)

Taipei Taipei (12)

Another of my classic favorite is their Spicy Sour Noodle with Pork/Chicken @ RM 14.90. It seems that the noodle is more like hand pulled noodle which is smooth and silky yet did not overcook it. Sourish spicy spice and chili added on top is nice and fragrant that gives you a nice push of spicy in your taste bud.

Who would have thought the next latest crazy hype is a simple homemade old-fashion egg sponge cake from Taiwan known as Original Cake had landed at Sunway Velocity, Cheras. Origin from Tamshui, Taiwan (臺灣淡水) that started since 2011. The hype for this shop is simply amazing that have created a huge buzz among all my friends and even week days, you have to queue 2-3 hours to get one. If I am not mistaken, I was told each person can only purchase 1.

Original Cake (2)

I was lucky that my friend help me to make a take away. Love their packaging.

Original Cake (3)

As I open the box, the cake sure do look a simple classic cake that we have locally and easily could get in our pasar malam too. Currently they have 2 flavours as the one my friend got for me is Classic @ RM 18 and another flavour that alot of my friends is aiming at is their Cheese @ RM 25 – that do have a melted slice cheese cheddar.

Other flavours to launch in the future will be :Spurted Chocolate, Healthy Dried Longan, Banana Milk, Cranberry, and Almond and Nuts

Original Cake (4)

As I pick it up, believe the cake texture have dense up as I do expect soft and fluffy sponge cake. As you can see, the base is also quite thick.

Original Cake (5)

Original Cake (6)

After a bite, only release that it is a pretty normal cake. However, the light and airy taste comes after that. The taste of mild fragrant egg with is there and mild milk sweetness that pairs quite well at the very end of the bite. The base that is quite thick, gives you the bitterness of mild burnt taste, also believe that the separation of ingredient is quite prominent where the top half is softer and the bottom half is more dense. The taste is very straight forward and I believe we can get such cake in our Pasar Malam. In the box, mention that it can store maximum of 3 days in refrigerator.

I believe that, the texture will be different if you eat it fresh. However, I will go again after 3 months as to queue for a cake for 2-3 hours, I will settle with some at Pasar Malam first as my friend told me you can get quite similiar to this in Taman Connought Night Market. Another reason for such a long time will be similiar to when Uncle Tetsu started, baking time per oven.

I was craving for steamboat and knowing Kepong Bandar Menjalara do have a steamboat street but I was looking for something different till saw a post from VKeong mentioning this hidden place in Plaza Menjalara that house Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (台风台式火锅). Indeed it is a hidden place as this place are located at the back of a shoplot.

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (1)

Taifeng do look legit and love how the built up their interior. Resemblance of Taiwan outskirt family run restaurant.

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (2)

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (4)

Many ingredients are homemade.

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (5)

Sausces area. .

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (6)

Sauces is not much as the waiter will bring you a mix of their house special sauce which consist of peanut butter, special in house chili flakes and fried dry shrimp. Before mixing in, put a scoop of soup base into it and mix. The sauce is just awesome! I had 4 of it after that.

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (7)

Being very attentive as the put up a caution note for you where the soup in it will burst in your mouth. Try out their Mix Ball Special @ RM 8.70 with 2each. (double layer pork ball, pork ball with chinese sausage and fu zhou fish ball)

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (8)

Homemade special pork at RM 17.50

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (9)

When the soup is at boiling point, the waiter will come by to prepare this bowl and put it into the soup for you.

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (12)

My chosen soup base for that night is Fermented sour Veggie soup base @ RM 26.50 . Love it, as it is pack with flavour, sourish to my liking yet flavour is not too heavy.

Taifeng Taiwanese Hotpot (11)

Ingredient here is nicely done up and I am totally impress with their service. Very attentive crew!

Will certainly come back again as the pricing is consider very reasonable.

Two Pesos. A brand that I heard a huge hype over it. There are mix reaction where some of my friend do not like it, and some say they like it. So me and my friend decided to drop by to check them out as Two Pesos is originated from Taiwan, a mini steamboat that every one get one hot pot by yourself. For me I still like my big pot of steamboat to be shared as the more ingredient I added in, the soup gets better.

Two Pesos (1)

I reach at 8.15pm and I only got my table at 9.30pm. One thing I realise while waiting is that they did not maximise all the tables where each couple are occupying a table of four, where they easily can filled the table up for table sharing that will cut the waiting time by half. Maybe that is their policy of running a business. With the impression of it is going to be a great hot pot.

Two Pesos (2)

Two Pesos (3)

Their price is definitely on the winning side along with 12 different types of soup base to choose from.

Two Pesos (4)

Two Pesos (5)

Unlimited sauce for you to enjoy.

Two Pesos (6)

Drinks are so so for both winter melon and ice tea.

Two Pesos (8)

My friend ordered Beef Italian Tomato @ RM 16 comes with 1 prawn and 1 fish meat. I guess their Italian tomato is other version where no tomato taste are visible. Soup base is quite bland although it is nicely presented.

Two Pesos (9)

Two Pesos (11)

If I got a chance to order with bbq set, then this would be my preference. I ordered Two Pesos BBQ Pork @ RM 19..50. I can only say the higlight of this BBQ is their sauce. Great in taste.

Two Pesos (12)

Two Pesos (13)

Mongolian Herbs was another order @ RM 15.50. Ingredients do look alot as all only come in one pieces or a slice where bottom is a mountain of Chinese cabbage to push all the ingredient up and make it looks like well worth it. Soup base is more outstanding compare to the rest with its unique herb taste.

Two Pesos (10)

Two Pesos (14)

Meat are decent. . .

Two Pesos (15)

Overall, I guess I would not be the right fit of Two Pesos where after reach home, all of us were thirsty for water. With such pricing that they have, we do not mind to pay slightly more to enjoy our favorite hot pot. I would go back for my favourite Taiwanese Steamboat – 神来一鍋 – God’s Delicious Pot at Kota Damansara.

It was quite a let down in terms of quality but they wins in presentation and price (to many peoples perception). It is for you to judge as they have customers who like and they have customers who do not like yet they do enjoy long queue every day.

Head over to their new branch at Kota Damansara as they do not have any queue there yet if you are keen to try.

I am a big fan of steamboat and was introduce to this shop by one of my best friend which recently became one of her favourite steamboat shop. Hail all the way from Taiwan, a few Taiwanese fell in love with Malaysia and decided to resides here by forming their passion of Taiwanese Steamboat (HotPot) to be introduce to our local community. 神来一鍋 (God’s Delicious Pot) open its door to public since July 2015 and already have high demand for their food.

神来一鍋

The cozy restaurant surely do resembles those famous little Taiwanese neighborhood steamboat  with its wall are being written by their guest along with their photo. Interior are being design by a Taiwanese and nearly 90% of all the items that you can feel and see in this outlet are all made and ship from Taiwan.

神来一鍋 (2)

神来一鍋 (3)

神来一鍋 (4)

神来一鍋 (6)

神来一鍋 (8)

I enjoy seating at the bar area and also the concept of this Taiwanese Steamboat is by ordering individual pot. If you feels that you do not want, you are able to share the same pot and on the sides there are ala carte menu for you to order extra. There are 8 soup base for you to choose from : Pork Bone, TomYum, Milk, Konbu, KimChi, Shacha, Herbal & Taiwan Mala

BOKA0076

Price wise you might find it slightly steep for you for a individual pot but I think it is still worth it.

神来一鍋 (7)

Their special Taiwanese Dip with another 6 more ingredients.

神来一鍋 (10)

I am in love with their winter melon ice crush. Not too sweet yet it is very refreshing and flavourful.

神来一鍋 (11)

The base of the sauce is imported from Taiwan where it is a must for all Taiwanese Steamboat and they have tweak the sauce abit. If you do order any meat, this is the sauce that you would not want to miss dipping.

神来一鍋 (12)

In their set, you get to choose to have noodle or their famous Mince Pork Rice serve with appetizer.

神来一鍋 (13)

We ordered two pot,  one with Herbal Soup base (clear soup and mild herbal taste which is like Taiwan as they are not filled with heavy taste bud) and mine with yin yeong where half is Taiwan Ma Lat (level 1 out of 3 levels) and another half is the bbq pit that serve with a pretty decent size of pork oil.

Love the taste of Taiwanese Ma Lat where the spicy level do not burn your thought and make it numb as they mix with herbal soup and you will feel an instant burning of spicy and will be gone after that. I think level 2 will be good enough for me. *Do not get yourself chocked with the spiciness as you will feel a burning sensation in your throat as I got chocked myself with the soup. 😀

神来一鍋 (14)

神来一鍋 (15)

Most of the ingredients that they serve are fresh and I ordered beef and lamb (those of you who do not like the lamb strong taste, you might have to give this a pass.)

神来一鍋 (16)

神来一鍋 (17)

Serve along with a pot of vegetable.

神来一鍋 (18)

each of you will be serve with their special powder from Kimchi, spicy, pepper and others. The purpose of it you can add in by tweaking the taste of the meat that you plan to eat by either adding it into the soup or while during bbq your meat.

神来一鍋 (19)

Lets eat!

神来一鍋 (20)

Purple bottle is good for bbq beef that enhance the taste of it. Add in at your own level.

神来一鍋 (21)

For the noodle, we where thought by the restaurant Manager Kelvin where his favourite way of cooking this is by cooking it into the soup base till the noodle is nearly soft, then move it to the bbq pit and fried it for another 3-4 minutes depending by adding kim chi powder (yellow bottle) also a scoop or two of soup base on each 2 minutes.

Noodle is springy and fragrant. A great way to end the meal.

神来一鍋 (22)

神来一鍋 (23)

Eating Steamboat to me must always paired with beer and best of all they serve Taiwanese Long Chuan Beer which is similiar to Tiger Beer.

神来一鍋 (24)

For dessert, you get to choose puddings as I chose Mango and Cappuccino.

My bills total up at RM 110 for 2 pax and a can of Taiwanese Beer which I find it very decent for the quality that they are serving and it is pretty good to me. This place have also climb into my top 3 places for steamboat.

If you visit this place on weekend, I would advise you too make a reservation (with only 10 minutes holding time), if you miss the boat, average waiting time as what mention by my friend is 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Weekdays is still pretty decent.

Remark: Best part is if you do bring BYO, there is no corkage charges. Especially those bring wine, they do not provide any wineglass. best if you bring yourself. they only have normal glass.
