Burger & Lobster got many foodie in Malaysia excited. Regard to many of them as one of a must dining place when at Sky Avenue.

[update: Aug: The taste is not consistent as compare to previously I had, this round the taste is more bland.]

Burger and Lobster (3)

About Burger and Lobster:

The first in Asia 3,500 sq ft space, Burger & Lobster will debut both the stripped menu and design ethic of the British chain, unveiling of the gargantuan Sky Avenue project and its 600,000 sq ft gross floor area. Sky Avenue promises to elevate the simple pursuits of shopping, eating and sightseeing to an art form. This is one of the reasons the management of Resorts World Genting strove to find exciting new F&B experiences with which to thrill its guests.

Burger & Lobster specialises in premium 650-700g fresh lobsters from Nova Scotia, Canada, which are delivered weekly to the hilltop via KLIA. Due to the volumes the group buys on a weekly basis, they become very affordable and saleable.

Burger and Lobster (3.1)

This is what they have to offer as the menu is pretty straight forward. From Burgers to classic lobster and Lobster Roll.

Burger and Lobster (4)

The Giant Tank that keeps the Premium Giant Lobster (base on season as the lobster is about 30-40 years old)

so we tried 3 of the offered item .

Burger and Lobster (16)

Original Lobster @ RM 148 Member/RM 153 Non Member

Original would be more ideal as you can taste the freshness of the lobster and also the cream sauce will give you the enhancement of flavour.

Burger and Lobster (17)

Chili Lobster  serve in a claypot and you are prodived with a clipper to crush the shell and also a pair of gloves to prevent your hand from getting dirty. In the end you will use your hand as the plastic gloves is very slippery. Is a dish that is quite messy. Sauce is decent where give you sourish taste and mild chili flavour. Taste similiar to our local seafood provider of sweet and sourish crab. @ RM 168 Member/RM173 Non Member

Burger and Lobster (18)

Original Lobster Rolls @ RM138 Member/RM153 Non Member. One of the easiest food to eat as the bread is filled with lobster meat.

If you are in Burger & Lobster for the first time, I think my I would recommend Lobster Original and Lobster Roll Seven Spices. Taste will be at your own discretion as I find it decent only.

Keen to try some new places and Bonfire Restaurant & Bar was one of the latest place we hit on. One of the reason choosing this restaurant is also they cook using wood fire which is something quite interesting.

Bon Fire (2)

Bon Fire (3)

Read from some where, that  it is run by Damansara Uptown’s Lou Shang Bar.

Bon Fire (4)

Bon Fire (5)

Menu is only a 2 pager thing.

Bon Fire (6)

Bon Fire (7)

While you are waiting for your mains, you will be serve with their hot bread and special home made butter. Indeed their home made butter is awesome. To refill cost you RM 3.

Bon Fire (8)

Bon Fire (9)

Since there are two of us and instead of ordering ala carte, we chose their set – Bon Fire Platter with a choice of 2 meats  @ RM 120. First the promotion do not make sense at all as it is as good as ordering ala carte. On certain combo you do not save money yet you are short change. Best of all, I wanted to order waygu steak and fish, was told that they do not have stock and changing it to sirloin. Too my dissapointment, we just hit for that as it was my friend’s birthday too.

Bon Fire (10)

Whole Red Snapper grilled over wood fire with sweet basil and coconut Beurre blanc @ RM 58. Read a good review on this dish and no doubt that it is pretty good. Fragrant and fresh fish as it is with a little hint of the aroma of salt little dried orange and spread of their sesasoning. Coconut beurre blanc do enhance the taste of the fish with a little milky end. Interesting indeed.

Bon Fire (11)

Next with no pricing is this sirloin that was cook to medium (we ask for medium rare – they do not have it as only medium and above option was available), then we are not too sure how the chef work then. Meat was rather disappointing where it is dry, lack of seasoning and the green beans dressing on the plate was a let down. We only ate half and the mood was not there anymore. This is the first time we did not finish a steak!

Bon Fire (12)

Bon Fire (13)

Coffee was decent.

Food wise, they have alot to improve on. I am not too sure about others.

Every year month of October, it will be another exciting month where certain eateries and bars will be celebrating OKTOBERFEST!!

Brozeit (1)

This gives no exception for Brotzeit – a German Bier Bar which is also one of my favorite German restaurant that serve decent consistent German food.

Brozeit (2)

Brozeit (3)

Brozeit (4)

Among the 4 beers, I love Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest-Märzen. Love the sweet sweet malty flavour and hinted with faint bitter aftertaste. It is also one of the beer that I have not tested before among those bottles.

Brozeit (5)

Brotzeit Fladen Kassler – Smoked Pork Loin Pizza -Tomato sauce, mozzarella, thin slices of smoked pork loin topped with olives and freshly grated horseradish. Every slices is filled with decent slice of loin and olive with its thin crust pizza. Do go along with their beer to pair it up.

Brozeit (6)

Bermerwürstl – Pigs in blankets @ RM 39 Three smoked pork cheese sausages wrapped with bacon and served with fries.

Brozeit (7)

The festival is celebrated in big scale, from food to beer and Oktoberfest PlatterRM 288 nett introduce you all their signature item. A platter that can easily feed 4-6 pax, served with Brotzeit Signature Knuckle, Pork Garlic Sausages, Gypsy Belly Bacon, Lumber Jack Steaks, Nürnberger Pork Sausages & Spicy Chicken Sausages served with Sauerkraut and potato salad. Their pork kunckle is da bomb, where every cut of it gives you the cracking sound from the skin.

Brozeit (8)

Still love their classic brown sauce to pair with most of my meat.

Brozeit (9)

Brozeit (10)

For dessert, WeiBer LavakuchenRM 25 is my favourite. Chocolate Lava Cake is also a twist of Chef’s version of molten lava cake with white chocolate. Cutting through the thin layer of crust gives you the crack and where white chocolate just flood out. Great replacement of white chocolate and pairs well with chef special sauce at the side.

Brozeit (11)

Apfelküchle @ RM 26 for 4 pcs. Slices of cinnamon-sugar dusted apple fritters served with homemade vanilla sauce.

Dining could not be more pleasant when you can find a comfortable place with great food and ambiance. I would say, Cedar on 15 that open its door few months back after its refurbishment would be a hidden gem around KLCC area with its quality of food and price tag certainly worth to pay a visit.

DSC_0940

Upon arriving, you will be greeted with their friendly staff and being usher to your table if you do have a reservation. It is indeed a spacious place with comfortable seating, nice background music and a perfect place for a great date.

DSC_0949

Their open concept kitchen with its grill section is certainly inviting.

DSC_0955

there are indoor and outdoor seating as I find the bar area is very comfortable too with natural chilling wind. They play live soccer match too.

DSC_0957

DSC_0958

DSC_0961

Its a 2 page menu and most of the item are pretty straight forward. If you are unsure what to choose, chose the one on their recommended list which is with a little umbrella icon as I can assure you wont disappoint.

DSC_0966

After placing order for your food, you will be serve their pippin hot bun that is homemade from their chef. I love their plan bun the most as its just that simple that I like to dip with their olive oil with vinegar.

DSC_0970
DSC_0980

First recommended dish is Fresh Burrata Cheese @ RM45 – air flown from Italy with roma tomatoes with extra virgin oil, Burrata is a very young mozzarella cheese wrap with balsamic gelee – Served with Basil Olive Oil. Nicely platted, as the flavour is very unique to my liking.

DSC_0987

DSC_0998

Follow by one of their signature known as Cream of Topinambour @ RM38 – a Jurusalem artichoke soup serve with Truffle Oil. When it was pour right infront of you, the aroma of the soup is just great and looking at the creamy texture is very inviting..

DSC_1010

Taste is pretty clear and not that distinctive as was taught to add in their little trick is to add in a few drops of truffle oil to bring up the taste. Indeed there is a clear different with and without.

DSC_1011

Do not put too much drop of truffle as its pretty strong and might cover the clear taste of the soup.

DSC_1012

DSC_1017

It is hard for me to resist Porcini Mushroom Soup – with creme fraiche and chervil serve with Porcini Oil @ RM 42 It is pretty straight forward with its aromatic fresh mushroom taste and with its little bites, just how I love my soup. I must say the portion is huge too as upon finishing the soup, I am half way done in my stomach.

DSC_1032

Those who love some simple straight forward food, then Fjord Salmon from Norway – 180g – would the be perfect choice as its perfumed with lemon basil oil, creamed spinach and fondant potato serve with Lemon Olive Oil @ RM 58. Cook to perfection that the outer layer is slightly grilled with a little crips and inside is soft and juicy. Eat along with its fresh veggies just bring the light taste and freshness of the fish.

DSC_1036

For fish then I must say their signature is their Pumpkin Seed Crusted Black Cod @ RM78 –  mushroom tomato chutney, fennel mousse and sugar snap peas, serve with Organic Hazelnut Oil. Love how the whole dish is presented that look pretty cool with a crispy arch, and a perfectly cook fish on a bed of fresh greens.

Fish is fresh, and to enhance the flavour, organic hazelnut oil bring the flour on the skin and fish meat with a slight nutty hazelnut end with a few drops is just nice for me.

DSC_1037

DSC_1038

I Love how my Wagyu Ribeye (marbling 7) – 200 g – serve with rosemary olive oil @ RM 53 per 100g on how it is being presented. It is serve along with a thick block of sea salt rock after grilling with a thin slice of green to prevent it from being salty. Then they waiter will let you know usually after being serve, the meat is left there for 3 minutes to soak the saltiniess of the sea salt into the meat and if you love your meat to be saltier, it is advise maximum 5 minutes. Anything more than 7 minutes will be too salty.

DSC_1039

I played with 3 minutes and 5 minutes and I love my meat in 5 minutes time frame which is just salty enough to my liking and it is cool perfectly medium rare to my liking along with its playful seasalt end taste. Indeed a great steak!

DSC_1046

Would it be great for such a meal to end with great dessert. Their current best seller is Chocolate Moltan Cake with fresh raspberry and homemade marzipan ice cream serve with Strawberry Lime Liquor @ RM 35

DSC_1053

I am all over the moon when I see how it is presented. It is so pretty and so Australian version dessert that I have recently came across. I was taught to sqeeze the lime liquor in it then squzee another half portion of strawberry lime liquor to enhance the taste.

DSC_1054

Upon cutting it, with chooclate oozing out with a combination of the liquour smell is just amazing. I can finish up this portion myself even though I am so full.

Highly recommended to end your meal with.

DSC_1056

Those on romantic date then can move yourself to their outdoor bar area to enjoy their great view, or your dinner can be all the way here.

DSC_1057DSC_1058

Indeed, its a great satisfying meal for such price tag and quality of it. For a great date and celebration, its a place worth to pay a visit.

When comes to Spanish dining, where would you recommend. Did read some review on this place, Ohla Tapas & Cocktail which had been in KL for past 2 years and apparently its well known for their tapas and drinks. The outlet is located in the heart of the city which is in a building known as Intermark.

Oh La (1)

I am not too sure is Chef Toni still around in this outlet as I do read that he is from Barcelona and do have several Michelin Star under his belt.

Oh La (2)

Its not a large restaurant but certainly comfy cool enough to host estimated 20 pax. If for weekend, I think its best to do a reservation as I am here on weekdays. Upon setting inside the restaurant I love their high bar dining area especially in front of the cooking area which I have recently develop this habit of sitting

Oh La (3)

Girls with skirts might find it uncomfortable to be seated on such high stool and they do have another option for you which is at the side, a pretty nicely done up fine dine concept for your dining pleasure.

Oh La (4)

Oh La (5)

Menu are very straight forward, as the choices are only two pages long.

Oh La (6)

I was there earlier and the waiter did observe that I might be waiting for quite a while then he introduce me one of their signature beer Ambar 1900 and without hesitation I place an order. Love the taste of the beer as it has sweet end, light flowery barley taste and a complimentary mini tapas for it.

Oh La (7)

Oh La (8)

Oh La (9)

I did read before this brand and I recommended my friend to order Castellblanch Gold 24 Cava Brut, is a sparkling wine and most of you girls would love it. Fruity end, less bubly and easily to pair with entrée

Oh La (10)

Right before our first dish, we were given Marinated Olives with Aromatised Extra Virgin Olive. It is like they have prepare a bottle each for dinners and comes with different types of olive.

Oh La (11)

Boquerones with Garlic and Parsley Oil  – Boquerones con Ajo y Aceite Verde @ RM 17 is a unique dish that I first come across. Love this kind of presentation as it reminds me some movie that they prepare sardins in this version, this is actually an anchoivies. Not too salty as my perception are but its is beautifully done. Smooth in texture, super mild garlic taste. I eat along by placing a slice of anchovies on the top with some parsley and one full bite into my mouth. Just perfect with Cava.

Oh La (12)

Oh La (13)

Upon serving this Bellota Iberico Ham @ RM 45, the chef explain to us how should we eat this by following steps. First take a slice of bread, then take the tomato squeeze it slightly and spread it evenly onto the read, follow by pressing the garlic and spread the juice around, end with slight punch of extra virgin olive oil and top with Iberico Ham.

Oh La (14)

I love the taste of Iberico ham which is not too strong in flavour, slightly chewy in texture to my liking as compare to others and I did play around without following the chef steps. Taste do turn out different as I think following full steps, it taste much better.

Oh La (15)

Oh La (16)

Pumpking Soup with orange beetroot @ RM 18 is nicely presented, creamy end and nothing to shout about.

Oh La (17)

Oh La (18)

Oh La (19)

Asked the chef to introduce one of their signature so, turns out to be their Mediterranean Seafood Black Rice, as upon placement the waiter did caution us is a salty base end they do cook their own lobster broth base for it to cook along..

Love the texture of the rice, as its al dante and they are using imported Spanish Rice – Aaroz Bomba. Baked to perfection and indeed it have salty end but I finish it all, as aromatic with seafood taste. Mix with some of their special sauce to balance it up. Sad point is that their mini lobster is not f

Oh La (20)

Next is Spanish Suckling Lamb with Milk @ RM 39.50. Moist and juicy, certainly suits many peoples taste bud as it is cook to perfection that do not have the smell/taste of lamb. Cripsy skin on the outside and the sauce have slightly mild sweet sour end to compliments it.

Oh La (22)

Oh La (23)

Oh La (24)

Caramelised Banana with Brandy @ RM 20.50. It did mention Brandy howevery I did not taste any hint of brandy however we do like the icecream that top on top.

Oh La (25)

AT the end of our meal, since we are in Spanish restaurant might as well order Sangria @ RM 38 which I think is pretty expensive for a glass of it. Very unique in taste, compare to other sangria that I have tried and I certainly like this more. Balance enough that I can taste some of the fruit being added even with the orange skin taste. Well balance and light to my liking.

Oh La (26)

I certainly love this restaurant services, as they are friendly and attentive and no doubt that their professionalism of serving food is there, with each of the dish being serve, we were being introduce, brief, and explain how we can enjoy the taste. Certainly its more like a Michellin star grade service.

Oh well, I have tried some Spanish restaurant and I would sayI did come across one very good Spanish restaurant which however is not located in KL. The restaurant is known as El Faro which located at Penang and till date still remains one of a better Spanish food that I have tried.

Total bill comes about RM 311.90.

Outback Steakhouse is a restaurant name that rings in my head quite often, and I guess some other people like me do have the confusion that is the one at Jalan Ampang, is it the same? Well the other brand is San Francisco Steak House which is totally different.

I also often bump into this brand when I travel to places like Australia/Indonesia as they do have branches there and my friend often say lets try something else as its very common for them.

outback (1)

First time entering to this outlet only realise that this is their second outlet which located at the Main Entrance opposite Brickfields and third which is coming soon. They orginally started at Bukit Bintang Park in 2001 which is next to Lowyat or Sungei Wang Plaza.

outback (2)

After sitting in there, I am slightly confuse and ask a question which is “is this Australian francise or US”? Then here goes the story as the owner were inspired by the hit movie Crocodile Dundee, Outback Steakhouse was conceptualized as an American outlet with an Australian theme.

outback (3)

Design in a simple and cozy which is a perfect place for gathering, family and friends.

outback (4)

outback (5)

Price range is very similar to their competitors. .

outback (6)

outback (9)

As we kick of with their first appetizer and I am in love with it. Served with the huge portion of tortilla chips accompanied by Spinach Artichoke Dip (a creamy blend of spinach, artichokes, Monterey Jack and Parmesan cheeses, baked until bubbly). @ RM27.95

I just cant stop till it is finish and their spinach dip artichoke is a bomb! If this is available to bring into movie is just perfect.

outback (10)

outback (11)

Crispy Fried Mushroom goes well with beer, as its simple and easy to eat. Their dip is good! @ RM24.95

outback (15)

Heading to the mains – Grilled Salmon @ RM39.95, that is perfectly seasoned and grilled. Serve along with healthy seasonal veggies and a bed of rice pilaf. Love the way how they grilled the salmon, which is slightly cook on the outside and inside is soft and juicy.

outback (14)

outback (16)

Alice Springs Chicken is a interesting dish @ RM35.95. Combination of flamed-grilled chicken breast topped with sautéed mushrooms, crispy beef bacon, melted Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese and finished with honey mustard sauce. Impress that the breast is still moist and bacon is juicy.

outback (18)

outback (17)

Rack of Lamb Chops @ RM49.95. The lamb chops served with homemade sauce and your choice of two freshly made sides.

outback (20)

If you love some combination : then I would recommend – Outback Steak and Seafood Mixed Grill @ RM59.95. Good balance of 6oz sirloin paired with freshly seared shrimps and quite a decent size of succulent scallops on a bed of diced mango salsa. – Recommended~

outback (21)

Ribeye – (8oz) @ RM56.95 – Seasoned and seared with the secret 17 seasoning blend or char-grilled over an open flame. It is well-marbled, comes to my liking when its cooked medium rare.

outback (22)

outback (23)

If you are a meat lover then this would be a good choice as it is served in thick meat for Outback Special 8 oz @ RM49.95
