While waiting for next appointment and not sure where to go, he randomly try out Nanyang Cafe in Eko Cheras Mall. While I was writing this, only know that they are actually quite famous among this neighbourhood for a Hong Kong Cafe in KL after Kim Garry.

Eko Cheras

Simple modern interior that reflects much more on the Hong Kong Cha Chan Teng.

Polo Pau

What attracted me to try this outlet is because of their Hong Kong Polo Bun that make fresh in the kitchen, that looks pretty decent.

Hong Kong Cafe

Nanyang Cafe (4)

Menu is quite direct with noodles, cheese rice, toast where it should be. Pork Burger with their french style bun.

Nanyang Cafe (5)

I must say that their drinks are very impressive. All their drink series are very solid or strong in taste. Those with weaker heart might not stand their Coffee. Smooth and strong in taste.

I tried 3:

  1. Hong Kong Coffee
  2. Hong Kong Milk Tea
  3. HOng Kong Yin Yeong

I personally like their coffee if were for breakfast. then their milk tea taste better too.

Nanyang Cafe (6)

wan tan noodle is alright. Noodle is springy and the wanton sui know is pretty decent in size. A prawn sui know.

Nanyang Cafe (7)

Polo bun

This is the main star that caught me into the outlet. Hong Kong Polo Bao with New Zealand Butter @ RM 4.80. It is not too bad for a bun. Fresh soft bun, flaky crusty top and with a slice of butter and a glass of coffee its a great combination.

Came across this brand since last year and went to give it a try for this 蜀香楼成都火锅 Shu Xiang Lou at The Linc, KL. A hotpot person that have been exploring China Sichuan hotpot and I find this place is more for entry-level diners.

mala hotpot kl

Menu is quite direct.

Shu Xiang Lou (3)

The ambiance of this outlet is pretty spot on, by transporting you back to the ancient China dynasty.

Shu Xiang Lou (4)

at the condiments counter, there is a chart that shows you how to mix on their special sauce.

Shu Xiang Lou (5)

Tried their Mala and Pork bone soup. Both are on average. The beginner spiciness is really for those who are not into Sichuan style hotpot. Not too spicy yet numb also.

Shu Xiang Lou (6)

As it was after Christmas party last year and most of us are hangover and we did not try much. only came by to have something soupy and wanted to try the taste one of a Sichuan Hotpot in KL.

End of the day, I still think Xiao Long Kan still pretty good as they have improved over the months and another shop in Kuchai.

If you are not so hardcore like me, you guys can give it a try.  Pricing average per head is about RM 40 – RM 80 (depending what you order)

Healthy eating? What comes into your mind? Modern will say poke bowl. Older generation will say vegetarian. Well, both is also healthy for me. Another will be this Purple Cane Tea Cuisine in the Gardens, Mid Valley, which is one of my favourite restaurants. a restaurant cooking is infused with Tea. Not only that, trying to cater to a bigger market, it is Pork Free restaurant that they do not sell pork and beef.

With the festive season of Mid Autumn is just around the corner, celebrating this The Big, Bright and Beautiful Moon 《圓月溜溜》 Delivering a Plate Filled with the Gift of Fullness and Serenity.

one of their moving item is also their HALAL mooncake which is love by many races. Prominents tea flavour which is not sweet yet flavourful.

When you order a pot of tea, 2 pot will be served. This is how the way they filter their tea. First pour of tea water into the pot. Then let it sit for a while before pouring out. According to them, this is the best way to get the aroma out from the tea.

Exactly like how I was thought when I visited China.

Purple Cane (10)

Purple Cane (8)

One of my all time favourite is their Double Boil Soup. Yup! Double boil soup serve in a tea pot. It is punch with flavour, easy to drink as I like it. I do not mind to have 3 tea pot of double boil soup. Recommended!

Purple Cane (7)

What is in the teapot? as below. The amount of ingredient in it for such a small pot!

Purple Cane (11)

I define this, a place where offer a kind of Taiwanese classic ambience with tea infusion food. Their mid autumn festival menu starts from RM 88 that can easily feed 4 pax. But there were 6 of us and I think it is just nice. 1 guy 5 girls.

Purple Cane (12)

Simmered Chicken with Yam in Jasmine Tea Sauce.

the chicken is soft and the winning part is the creamy sauce. Fragrant and just syrup ontop of your rice is a perfect combination.
Purple Cane (13)

Purple Cane (14)

One of the signature for the restaurant is this Black Tea Curry Lions Mane Mushrooms. The curry is not too thick, yet you would easily need to bowl of rice for this. So easy to eat, super mild spicy with mild creamy. Instead of santan the replace it with Almond milk.

Purple Cane (15)

Purple Cane (16)

Sweet and sour Sliced Grouper with Lychee Black Tea. Fried to perfection as it is crispy and a layer of fragrant which is just right.

The Hub in SS2 seems to be the new flock of F&B joint with tons of cafe are now fully operating in this new area that creating a long beelines among your favourite cafe. I have read quite a few reviews on Flakes in The Hub SS2 and decided to give it a try.

cafe in pj

This is one of a cafe in PJ that famous for is their croissant. Their sweet series seems to be quite tempting.

Flakes (4)

Flakes (5)

Under this new norm, it took us 30 minutes to get a spot here over the weekend.

Flakes (6)

It is full house, and it is quite noisy where the ceiling is low and no carpet in between. So be prepare to talk louder than another table. weekdays will be peaceful here.

Flakes (7)

Try one of their sweet series – Pistachio. RM 9 if not mistaken

Flakes (8)

Flakes (9)

Flakes (10)

Flakes (11)

It seems that their signature is avocado and egg mash. Nothing to shout about, where you can just grab a croissant of the shelf and make it at home. RM 23 if not mistaken

Flakes (12)

For their pulled beef series and caramelize, onion is also the same. (RM 18 if not mistaken)

Both 3 of the croissant is not flaky as many written out there and also quite disappointing. It is bad to read reviews that create high expectation and come out with disappointment.

ss2 hub

Overall that I find the croissant series is so so only over the hype that had been created. Not flaky, fragrant and seems like bake twice. It could be not my choice of croissant and of course to many of you out there. this place is out for me. Certainly there are better cafe in PJ.
