On my first night of arrival, my best friend directly drove me to one of his favourite Fish and Chip place Kailis Fish Market Cafe which have more local diners compare to the other one right opposite. This restaurant is also known for their award winning fish and chips and recipe since 1928.

Kailis (1)

Moving from Fishing business to restaurant where since the opening of Kailis’ Fish Market Café in December 1986, turnover has more than trebled and the business has garnered numerous accolades. It has won on 3 occasions the coveted “Sir David Brand Award for Best Popular Restaurant & Food Service for Tourists” and has been inducted into the State’s Tourism Hall of Fame. Victor was named ‘Employer of the Year’ by the Restaurant & Catering Association and, most recently, Kailis’ Fish Market Café was voted ‘Best Fish and Chips in the Metropolitan Area’ at the Western Australian Fishing Industry Awards.

Kailis (2)

This place sure do give me the feeling of classic fast food chain like our A&W at Amcorp Mall or KFC lot in Penang nearby Penang Plaza. Of course the ambiance here is much better and they have 2 counters. One is for you to choose on all your favourite fresh seafood and cook accordingly after that. Another counter is where you place the order of all classic fried items.

After you pick up your order, you can hit into their condiments counter.

Kailis (7)

This is their first counter as you walked in you will be greeted with all this fresh seafood.

Kailis (9)

Their pastries and dessert counter. So tempting.

Kailis (10)

Kailis (11)

Gelato Taste good too as I tried some by testers.

Kailis (12)

Ordered Traditional Fish & Chips Family Meal (4 pieces of fish) @ AUD  28.90 and a bowl of seafood Chowder @ AUD 12.70. Love the classic fish and chips where it did not over fried the fish yet fish is fresh, soft, juicy and do eat along with their tartar sauce. Seafood Chowder is quite decent too as it is quite thick in flavour and thick in where it is more like a gravy instead of soup.

Kailis (13)

Kailis (14)

Ordered pan fried scallop with chips at the fresh seafood counter and a bowl of marinated octopus with olive seasoning @ AUD 6.90 per serving. Scallop is so fresh and cook to perfection.

Kailis (15)

Kailis (16)

Try out some of the beers. Pipsqueak Apple Cider.

Kailis (17)

3 of us finish the whole ordered and we were too full. Was tour around the area and it is very windy that night. Love the cold wind.

One of my purpose by travelling to Perth is to visit one of my favourite boutique beer, Little Creatures Brewery that located at Fremantle. This suburb is also one of my favourite suburb that is filled with many nice scenery and food. This micro-brewery has built a strong reputation, being one of the largest you can find in the area. This micro brewery also turn into one of my favourite hang out spot where I drop by here 3 times for their beers.

Little Creature (3)

It is hard for you to miss them when you are at the fishing village area.

Little Creature (4)

Love this kind of set up as the interior is a huge warehouse setting being situated right next to the large brewing containers, and all the beers are from this huge barrels.

Little Creature (25)

For visitors/ travelers like me, drop by Little Creatures Brewery Brewhouse first where you can get a tester set for free and they are pretty generous over it as they gave you a full platter of their series in shot glass. Besides that, it is also a purchasing warehouse where you can buy off all their beers back home and also their merchandise.

In Perth, of course  am looking for wine and whisky to buy back and I was searching all over google and stumble upon this brand that sits right in Perth City which is about 10-15 minutes away from city and also accessible thru their free city buss. Whipper Snapper Distillery  is Perth’s first urban distillery where owners and Alasdair Malloch, Jimmy McKeown and Tom Cooper are crafting premium moonshine and whiskey using 100% Australian ingredients.

Whipper Snapper (1)

They have very cool story on how it started (click here)

Whipper Snapper (3)

This is no ordinary Distillery where inside them house this one of the best coffee that I have across during my stay there. It has mild acidic taste and fragrant coffee aroma that just suits to my liking. Quite alot neighbourhood peeps drop by for a take away and the barista is very friendly.

I thought they have daily tour for the distillery and the tour have to book in advance (click here), Since I could not do that might as well sit down and taste their whisky and for tasting, they have minimal charges for both bottles which I have forgotten how much it would have cost.  Then you will be serve by per shot each.

It will be damm awesome, where I was told that their aged whiskey is realease on Feb 2016 this year with limited stocks. ahhh, I am gonna miss it) I bought a bottle of Moonshine Aged.

Ribs & Burger (1)

I have decided to drop by next day lunch for my meal to avoid those crazy dinner crowd and if you are here for lunch, you will enjoy the queue too. This place specialises in mouth-watering slow cooked Ribs and Burgers.

They have a huge chalkboard menu right at the front of the shop while you are lining up, you can read thru. There are alot of flexibility in the menu that gives you with many types of add on’s.

Ribs & Burger (7)

Right after payment, you are then handed this cute kettle box that is filled with two of their signature sauce.

Ribs & Burger (8)

Here is my slab of Full BBQ ribs @ AUD 29.50, where according to the cashier thats their signature and also standard size. It look huge but it is actually not where I can finish this by myself and I can finish another slab too if were given another option.

Soft meat, fragrant with their house special sauce and its grill to perfection. Loving it.

Right after my dinner at Jamie’s Italian, I was then brought to Whisk Creamery,  that is located at Rokeby Road, Perth about 10 minutes drive out from city to reach this latest Ice cream place (Aug 2015 when I was there). According to my friend, Whisk has gain its popularity and hype through social media for their presentation and quality.

#throwback Aug’15 trip

Whisk (1)

Usually there is a long queue and we were lucky that night, there werent much crowd.

Whisk (2)

Whisk (3)

It is a soft-serve gelato by freshest ingredients and a traditional family recipe.

Whisk (5)

Whisk (7)

Whisk (8)

Went for their classic series first – matcha.

Whisk (9)

Pink Panther Cone @ AUD 6.50 – top with sesame mochi and finished with raspberry/rose water meringues. I am not a sesame lover but I am in love with theirs. tasted like some roasted seseame, fragrant, not too sweet and just perfect to my liking. Certainly its a pretty cone.

Whisk (10)

Rocky Pro do look like a mini volcano. – a waffle base topped with creme anglaise, flamed marshmallow, peanut butter gelato, finish with milk chocolate peanut pieces @ AUD 13.

Whisk (11)

A Caramel Sandwich – a cronut filled with sesame gelato (where I change the gelato flavour by adding AUD 1, burnt salted caramel sauce, topped with whipped cream & caramel sauce @ AUD 13 + AUD 1 = AUD 14. First time trying out cronut and find it quite good. Soft and it feels like there are slices in between. Love it with their sesame flavour.

Whisk (12)

Tried their milkshake and find it too heavy for me and a little too sweet too.

Whisk (13)

Whisk (14)

Whisk (15)

I am in love with their Matcha latte. Love the fragrance and smooth milky end of it.

Whisk (16)

Whisk (17)

Thanks guys for bringing me around when I was there.

Now looking at their menu (click here), they have grown extensively and I only can imagine the taste of it. Love their gelato series, which is smooth and indeed great stuff! Worth to give it a try if you are an ice cream/gelato lover.

One of my very first restaurant that I hit when I was in Perth is Jamie Italian. Well, who do not know prominent chef Jamie Oliver ? Started in Oxford and now have more than 40 restaurants all over the world and thought that its a restaurant that I must pay a visit.

Jamie Italian (1)

It is located right in the heart of city where just right next to Perth main underground station.

Jamie Italian (2)

Jamie Italian (3)

Menu are quite extensive and spoilt with choices.

Jamie Italian (4)

As I step in, I am in love with their interior design. It is a relaxed Italian chain, with rustic menu and antipasti bar

Seeing there are local beers available, I instantly place my order.

Jamie Italian (12)

We started off with -one of their daily specials. Love the coconut fragrance meat with mild marinated chicken with herbs and its a pretty simple dish to start off with.

Jamie Italian (13)

Porcini Arancini  @ AUD 14.50 – It is a very simple homecook Fried balls risotto with fontina, mozzarella & arrabiatta, taste were rather blend.

Jamie Italian (14)

Chicken Al Mattone @ AUD 31 – free range marinated chicken with a creamy wild mushroom sauce, lemony rocket, crostini & paramesan. Stack up nicely and one of a better dish for the night.

Jamie Italian (15)

Grilled Free Range Pork Chop @ Aud 29.95. Marinated & cooked under a brick with bagna cauda, apple, kohlrabi, mint, lemon and crackling. Taste alright as the mint apple did balance the taste of pork and pork was cook just nice.

Jamie Italian (16)

Jamie Italian (17)

Jamie Italian (18)

This was mine as I ordered Jamies Italian Burger @ AUD 22 – prime Aussie beef with mortadella, balsamic onions, and others. It was quite disappointing where I have tried better ones around the area.

One lesson I have learnt thru here that I have put too high expectation for this meal where its because it is Jamie Oliver and must have been something great. His style of cooking is more towards home cook version therefore what is serve in this restaurant is more like a casual homecook food. For Asian taste bud, lower down your taste expectation then you will enjoy.

I guess with the amount spend in here, you can get better food some where else and worth to try once if you are a big big fan of him.
