Currently for year 2022, I think one of the most famous night market in Bangkok is this Jodd Fairs Night Market at Central Plaza Grand Rama IV or nearby the Rama 9 MRT station.
Then I did a further search, only realize that this is kinda replacement of famous Ratchada Train Night Market which now known as Jodd Fairs. Jodd Fairs night market offers more than 600 food vendors ranging from restaurants, street food stands, beers and others.
Of course we used to know those other famous night market like
The new artbox now is right in the city which can access by the MRT blue line. I stayed not too far from this area and took taxi to this place and been here for 2 nights in a row, I just love the feeling of chilling in this huge tent and variety of beers that I can get. Beers start from 600 Baht (RM 8.50) for 1 big can. You can even chill at those some beer bars.
this boat noodle is actually pretty good. Pack with flavours.
It seems that this night market is famous for ribs, quite numbers of stall doing that. You can paint your own bearbrick series too
you can aim for this stall if you are looking for those current famous fresh shrimps’ salad. This is one of the famous stall for the leng lui owner. Alot people just purposely come to see her making drinks.
Another famous ice cream that alot people quieing. They have alot of unique flavours. I tried Ice Cream Bacon Strawberry jam – if I remember correctly.
If you want a happy drink, you can aim for this store, which is next to the scallop store. While waiting, you can order weed tea or even you can add booster also.
In this night market, this store is also very famous for its cheap big scallop. 3 pcs for RM 10
This is one of my favourite coconut stall. 20baht (RM 3.50) for a mini small Thai coconut and it is absolutely refreshing. One of the best in the area. I whack 3 in one go. It is fresh, sweeet and aromatic.
For girls, do conquer this manicure. I think one of the cheapest and if not it is one of the biggest and better finishing. only 200baht (RM23) to do your 10 fingers. It is so cheap and too bad guy cant do, even for simple clean up. Ladies only! There are so many places to chill and beers stall around. I tried nearly half of the beers that I have not try before. As many of us know that now we can take weed in Thailand. In this Jodd Fairs, there is only 1 weed stall. I thought this were the cookies but you got the seller explain to you in variety of options available.
Overall, I love this place and always curious why Malaysia can do such a cool Pasar Malam!

Jay Fai is regard as one of the best legendary street food you can get in Bangkok which is famous for Jay Fai Crab Omelette. I am sure many of you know this place after watching Netflix. I was checking is Jay Fai actually Michelin Star Street Food in Bangkok. I guess no cuz I did not see any sticker or I could have miss out.
I visited this place June 2022 and the queue is crazyyy!! Please do spend half a day here and do have patience.
This is also one most expensive ever Breakfast.
The queue starts as early as 7am and Jay Fai Operates at 9am.
Purely base on walk in – no longer accept reservations/ emails
What I learn during the process and let me share with all of you.
Side note: Jay Fai Average queue waiting time is 3-5 hours.
For Malaysians, I personally think you can skip this place for such waiting time and there are other places offer similar food, shorter waiting time.
What I learn from the locals is that, the first thing you see is this list. There will be a list place on the table for you to get a queue number.
She operates on 2 session and at times depending on mood, 3rd session will be open up (that will be your lucky day) with total give out numbers is only 50. Regardless you are 1 pax, 2 pax, 1 number = 1 table.
Session 1: 9am – 2pm (50 number) – best advise to reach before 9am to safely get a number. I reach at 9am and was no.22 – eating time was 12.15pm (that day she delayed 1 hour to start cooking)
Session 2: 3pm – 7pm (50 number)
Session 3: Bonus 7pm – 9pm (depending on her operations) Jay Fai Menu Bangkok 2022 as I capture.
The trick is do not rush the old lady manning the front counter. Once your number is called like as below: They will hand you the menu, just look thru and once know what you want to order, the lady will eventually come to you to take order. No need to head over to rush her to place order.
only 2 numbers will be called at the same time.
There will be 1 lady manning at the table and once the number is fully given out, the sign is clearly stated there, DO NOT WAIT as wait list is full!
Okay allow me to explain why only 50 seats available from my observation and I might be wrong:
Only Jay Fai is the main cook that cook nearly 90% of the dishes
Small eatery with mostly like 10 tables capacity.
If she takes in more crowd, she can only cook so much and waiting time will be longer
She is already 78 years old. Do have patience with the lady if you want foodOne person can do so much. So running F&B is not easy. I see alot people curse there why she runs her business like this especially Malaysians and Singaporeans after their disappointment could not get a number.
This is her legendary stove. Super well season and look at the colour of the stove. just amazing. She use charcoal to cook all her food and that is why taste different. Locals share with me, that she buy all her ingredient fresh and mostly reach at 7am to her store and start to prep.
Signature Crab Meat Omelette @ 1200 Bhat (RM 150)
This is certainly not disappointing. A whole omelette STUFF with fresh crab meat and its the kind chunky, not the small nibs. Fresh meat and omelette is just not too bad. Indeed do lift to the expectation of her own signature dish. just look at picture below. 1 Big chunky crab meat.
As I saw alot people order this Crab Frid Rice (Khao Phad) @ 800 bhat (RM 99) and last minute I decided to add on my order. I thought with her flaming charcoal fire would give alot of wok hei. I guess it turns out kinda normal.
(sorry I am comparing to those Hong Kong egg fried rice/ Malaysian egg fried rice) – wok hei.
Not a big portion, and enough to share for 3 pax if you are ordering alot of food.
This was highly recommended by Jay – Fai Daughter, she is one of the helper at the counter. Drunken Noodle Prawn (Phad Kee Mao Talay)@ 600 bhat (RM 75)
This is kinda unique as cook with wide flat noodle and texture is slightly chewy. Rich with prawn flavour and top with 3 big fresh prawns. A bit with wok hei and have to it eat fast while it is serve hot. Once it is cold, the flavor become flat and more towards salty end.
when reach Thailand, Tomyum automatically is a must order. Prawn Tomyum Goong @ 800 bhat (RM 99). I guess everyone have different palate and what I can taste is mild sour and head towards saltiness.
Not my kind of Tomyum Goong I am expecting for Bangkok standard. Can skip this order as not worth it
My overall bill for 4 dishes is at 3,400 bhat (RM 420) : Okay my own summary:
Very expensive kind of street food – not worth the waiting time of 3-5 hours. You can spend time on other Bangkok street food.
Food overall is kinda okay (Recommended to order : Drunken Noodle and Crab Omelette)
Have to travel here by Taxi/ Grab – no nearby public transportation.
Do not put expectations to dine here. Go with an open mind as every cook have their own style of cooking. Have fun waiting and enjoy her food as she is very old already. Most probably another 3-5 years.

Over my past visit at Bangkok, there are some recommendations from my friend also also some recommendations over blogs from Thailand. Therefore I have only pick and come out with Top 4 Cocktail Bar at Thonglor, Bangkok.
The Most talk about cocktail bar in town is them. The Iron Fairies & Co at Thonglor turn out to be one of the most famous cocktail bar for 3 reasons. One for their spiral staircase, ambiance and their jazz band. So those of you who love jazz band, you would fall in love with them.
As you walk in after the huge wooden door, the place in there is quite dim where is filled with mining lights. I am memorize by the interior decor itself. It gives me the feeling that I have entered into a Dracula or Frankenstein mansion. Cocktail is decent too, but you will be digging slightly deeper for it with the ambiance that you are enjoying.
Surface up with their current trend, with its eco friendly building have attracted some good F&B players into the building. You will be spoil for choices where they have four levels of eateries for you to hunt for, with Roast a famous brunch place and my personal favourite is their Market place, housing variety of food and love their boutique beer bar – The Beer CAP.
335 Thonglor Soi 17, Bangkok, Thailand
(Near Thonglor BTS)
A hidden cocktail bar in one of the streets of Thonglor, that sets their interior like a boutique second hand classic furniture shop.
Well known for their cocktail and the super-catch for the night – do try their Ko-Kaine cocktail. Ol-Bitch. Smooth creamy finishing with a touch of sweetness in it. Girls would love it.
One of a recommended drink is this Smoke On the Water. Smokiness of the drink to be capture for at least 3 minutes then only you are allow to drink.

4. Dusk Rooftop Bar @ Soi 13, Thonglor
Dusk rooftop bar is one of a new player in the area that you need to find an alley to hit up here.. I got attracted to their bar interior, small cozy rooftop which will be hot at night if there are no wind factor. They do have live band over weekend that plays unplugged music.
You can check out their menu here. They are well known with their craft cocktail by mixologist with seasonal ingredients.

The Iron Fairies & Co at Thonglor would turn out to be one of the most famous cocktail bar for 3 reasons. One for their spiral staircase, ambiance and their jazz band. So those of you who love jazz band, you will fall in love with them.. It is easy to locate this outlet as The Iron Fairies is facing main road with well light up neon lights. The only set back or point that you might miss out is the tree at the front walkway might be blocking.
As you walk in after the huge wooden door, the place in there is quite dim where is filled with mining lights. I am memorize by the interior decor itself. It gives me the feeling that I have entered into a Dracula or Frankenstein mansion.
There are many hidden dark corners where you will see couples are occupying it. It certainly gives you the privacy that you need and jazz music is not too loud.
Many ladders point that guide you to different floors.
The stairways right behind will or right at the main entrance will lead you up to first floor and mezzanine floor where you will see where the live band is situated.
Since my friend could not drink, where we still have third and fourth bar to go, so we ordered one to share. Smoke in a Bottle #1 @ 330 Bhat comes as a red liquid with captured smoke in it. A glass of ice and blueberries is place in it as a stirrer. It is a bit strong for me with hint of oakiness. Lurving it.
A nice place to chill indeed if you are willing to dig deeper into your pockets.

While night hits at Bangkok, what do you do next? Well, this round I did not hunt for clubs as went to search for hidden bar or cocktail place and apparently I found this hidden cocktail bar in Thonglor in one of a road that house this unit like a second hand furniture shop is this Shades of Retro. Coincidentally, this place is also one of a neighborhood cocktail bar that he frequently visit.
There is a potential that you might miss out this place while you are looking for it as the sign board for the bar is so small and the only way to recognize them is this big white led light.
Space is quite limited in here as there are only about 5 tables and bar seatings.
The whole interior is quite interesting as instead of giving me the look of second hand shop, it gives me the feel like I have went into Indiana Jones equipment hunting ground.
One of a recommended drink is this Smoke On the Water. Smokiness of the drink to be capture for at least 3 minutes then only you are allow to drink.
Upon opening the glass cap, you can smell the nice aroma of smokiness of oak, follow by the nice alcohol infuse in it.
For simple oakiness of flavors yet a little strong in taste, then this would be one of your ideal drink. We ended up have 3 glasses each.
For the girls, they had Ol-Bitch. Smooth creamy finishing with a touch of sweetness in it. Girls would love it.
What is up in the cheif mixologist is this very interesting shot platter. If I remember correctly – it is called Ko-Kaine. Spill with 3 different types of powder that is prepack in pill form. With one of the capsule is coffee powder
Then it is divided exactly like you are taking drugs along with a shot of strong vodka (if I am not mistaken). Serve in a platter of 3 shots.
You will be given a short straw and you have to suck hard on the powder follow by a shot of vodka. It is a great mixture as it instantly do hit your head but the after taste of it is very aromatic and follow by hint of coffee taste after it. Indeed a platter highly recommended.
We ended up had 2 platter.
After those drinks, my friend ordered their beef burger, that he mention is one of his favourite but on that night, it was a let down where taste is not like what he have usually tasted, only realise that the main chef to cook on it taste much better.
For a side note, their Basil Chicken Rice is indeed a bomb. After some whisky and shots, this dish taste amazingly good. Chicken filled with wok hei, where the sauce is just nice that did not over powering where you can taste the fragrant of fried leaves too.
We had alot of drinks that night and thanks to the cheif mixologist for making all our drinks. Our bill was estimated 6500 bhat.
