Last weekend we head down to Melacca for a great weekend escape. Philea Resort & Spa is one of the resort that hidden with the greens which one of the most unique hotel available in Malaysia. The whole resort was build up with log which makes them the biggest log resort in Malaysia that build in a 15acres of land with a total investment of RM140mil which is owned by Majestic Hotels & Resorts.

Lets lead to the pathway of the resort and one best things, if you are lazy to walk, then you can take on their buggy service which is available at the lobby or a call away from your room.

When we walked into the area, we were impress by the whole ambience that gives the feel we are not in Malaysia. Totally a good escape from the city to be in such a relaxing environment.

“Philea was built utilizing natural resources. The resources are Malaysian-made; using 8,000 pieces of disused railway sleepers for staircases, more than 6,000 tons of marble from Perak as block fencing and recycled materials found from shipwreck as furniture in the lobby”

Philea was also awarded the ‘First Log Resort’ and the ‘Largest Log Resort’ by the Malaysia Book of Records.

Then we head to one of the room viewing, Philea Suite which had its whole unit by itself with its spacious bed room and the concept I like the most is the toilet. When we enter there room, some people might not like the smell of it which is the heavy log smell as it is still rather new. Were told that the highgrade log is imported from Russia.

Where most of the hotel room put a tag out on their room for DND sign or clean up room here, just pull out a small plank of wood. .its cute. .

42 inch flat screen on the hook on the wall you can just relax in the room. . .

big bean bath tub located in the middle of bath room and a rain drop type shower head located next to it.

while you are soak on this lovely tub, just press along with the tv channels and lay there in the environment.

after your bubble tub bath, you can just shower off  . . ..

Sink is more like seashell which is so nice to match along the whole ambiance.

they have all the shower gel ready for you to pamper you in this environment . .. . .

After the mini  tour, we head back to our room. . .

Pavillion Villa that host 4 rooms in a single building. . .

A bit smaller compare to Philea Suites as we are impress too with the rooms which is made fully with log.

The bed is so comfy with its soft conforter and pillow is melting us to take a short nap. . .

a complete bath room set kit is provided. . . .

Love their shower gel smell, with a scent of ginger and aromatic flowery scent  that makes it so relaxing.

If you plan to rest at the balcony, the be seated at the bench or you can pull it out and transform it into picnic table. .

After we check out our room, we head out for lunch . ..

They have mini hakwer area also ..

Hainanese Chicken Rice

Grilled seafood – you can choose seafood of your choice. . .

Italian selection . . .

Desert area. . .

where the girls are having fun chatting around. . .

After lunch, went back room to change and head to chill at their swimming pool area. . . .

this is where we enjoy our time here just by relaxing at the lazy chair while listening to the sound of waterfall .. .

Esther was so in love with my new camera and she decided to venture herself by capturing portrait for Racheal ..

This is how the pool’s look like with natural waterfall sound. . tempting!

our camwhore queen, Esther . ..

Now let the night shots begin, at the main entrance of Philea Resort & Spa Ayer Keroh, Melaka.

Main Lobby .. .

Swimming pool view. . .

On that night we also celebrated Earth Hour 2011 at the resort, where the whole resort was lit up with candles. . .

It was quite dark in the whole resort and we use our handphone light to shine for our route for the way to dinner ..  Guess who is thiss?

we felt it was quite Romantic that the restaurant was lit up with candle lights and we were dining just with candles right in front of us.

Finish our dinner, we head to their Chill Out Bar to chill for the rest of the night .. .

The music R & B played in there was pretty good. . .just that it was not blast loud enough . . as we understood that its a place of social not to party or dance. . .

welcome our sexy bar tender for the night making our cocktails. . .

ops, Marcky is at playboi mansion bar at the moment. . .

Tiger was our best friend for the night .. .

It was a great stay at this resort and certainly looking foward to go back again . . Room Rates start from RM400++

Food hunting now is not only hunting for place, and now it is about hunting for good deal over the internet for value meal or package. Recently before the deal end, I manage to get this deal from MadnessDeal that offer Turkish Fine Dining Food for only RM 49.90 with ori deal RM 103 that offer Lentil Soup + Lamb Doner Kebab + Pide + Desert + Drink and of course I get another RM 20 vouchure after that. So what could I ask for more in a fine dining, Iziint it is a madnessdeal? I would say it is. . . .

I have walk passby this shop alot of times yet have not really try it till this deal gives me a chance to do so. . .

Spacious yet filled with luxury ambience with soft background music with very soft spoken waitress show us our seat . .

In this kind of restaurant this is the kind of price that I am expecting. .  Well, I got discounted deals. . .:D

From the list of drinks is available, we decided to go something more of their local delight, so we tried out Turkish Coffee that has very strong in coffee aroma, more like a espresso shot in Turkish version suprisingly every sip is not that bitter. . .

Turkish Tea

When Lentil Soup was served, we look at the structure of it and the thickness we thougt that it is something off, I guess the look had proof us all wrong, out of our expectation by squeezing the lime in it and stir it, it turns out to be good! Creamy and thick in taste which is something that I do not come accros most of my meal, and I empthy this plate within seconds. . .The soup is so perfect to go along with :

Pide – Turkish Flat Bread, it is freshly baked out from the oven, soft and filled with a bit black sesame taste and I rate it as Turkish Yau Char Guai ..  Soft, chewy and dip in the soup is perfect!

Lamb Doner Kebab again prove us wrong by the look of it, and for those who love lamb without strong gamey taste of it, this would suits you good as my friend do not eat lamb but he finish this whole plate byhimself. The rice is more like ‘yau fan’ oily rice that is very aromatic, a bit dry like our chicken rice taste to eat along with the lamb and dip with the mint sauce I seriously have no complain.

then we decided to go for another extra order ‘Chicken Doner Kebab @ RM 39.90′ The chicken was grill till very soft and juicy in every bite.

I have always miss Baklava with the one that I have always eat in Melbourne and now, I have manage to find one to my liking which is not very sweet, yet teaste so perfect with mild pistachio nut taste in it, and every bite have the ooze like sugar in between without too sweet and I finish 1 n half place of this by steal half portion from my friend.

Honestly, this Turkish Fine Delight did suprise us the taste as we have underestimate them, luckily I have manage to got my MadnessDeal at their website to try out this great experience in this restaurant. I surely, do not mind to recommend this restaurant.

Looking for more deal, log on to their website: MadnessDeal.com

With how many restaurant owners have taken advantage of the awarded pre-war town house renovate it into a classic and cozy dining place. Most of these restaurants are not big but pretty much small and cater for your needs. Soul Kitchen Trattoria  menu surely would not be extensive yet is simple cooking to make it a comfy dining experience.

On my last trip to Penang, after a full day of street photography, its time for us to head to this classic Italian restaurant Soul Kitchen Trattoria being operate by lovely and very friendly German – Malaysian couple. The place is certainly not huge with our booking of 12 pax, we manage to book the whole indoor area.

[No Longer In Operation]

soul kitchen (1)_resize

If you do pass on this street you will surely notice on this small green pre-war building which is just located 50m directly accross of Cititel junction.

soul kitchen (3)_resize

I just love the whole ambience of the whole restaurant that decorate with, and Jason trying to be the model for the place.

soul kitchen (4)_resize

The wall look a bit torn down with a simple white paint and a big logo is painted on it with 2 electric candle light place upon on the wall.

soul kitchen (5)_resize

No much fancy decoration on it as they have used simple and reusable items to decorate the whole place, wooden crates, used luggage, old radio being placed on the stair case.

soul kitchen (6)_resize

Postcards from other countries a being decorated along on the side walls next to the kitchen.

soul kitchen (7)_resize

They do not have specific menu with most of their food menu are written in two big wooden blackboard on the wall besides that, a small piece of board are place on the floor with their daily specials. When we saw the menu, I told Ken like, I think we are going to order 80% of what is on the menu.

soul kitchen (8)_resize

What I have been told that the menu do change from 2-3 months once by remaining the best sellers.

soul kitchen (9)_resize

As I mention the restaurant is not big, we operate the whole indoor area and it is highly recommended you make a reservation before you coming to this place. As for the night, it was fully booked. there are alot of walk in customer and they turn away dissapointed.

soul kitchen (10)_resize

Beverate wise they do not serve wine, surely you can bring your own wine as long as you order food from the restaurant.

soul kitchen (11)_resize

This 2 girls sure impress the rest of the photographer that not many girls are willing to follow and walk whole day for street photography as they just tag along without complains.

soul kitchen (12)_resize

Bernice is just too hungry till she is hoping there is food place on the table now.

Khadijah Ibrahim, Khadijah’s Kitchen sure do not ring a bell to me, after talked to her in person only realize that she is one of a famous singer in local and internationally arena with more than 31 years of experience that makes her as one of the leading singers of her generation, pioneer and innovator. From her popularity she had been named as a cultural ambassador for Malaysia and I believe you guys are very familiar with a song for Tourism Malaysia,  ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’.

Now besides being a singer, she loves to cook too, a food hunter and also a person whom is humble and willing to share and teach if you want to be a chef  and that creates out Khadijah’s Kitchen which is one of the hidden gem in Petaling Jaya area, thanks to Florence for introducing this place.

khati

khati (2)

A simple and cozy place that offer more on homely ambience that she mention, most of the restaurant furniture are from her house. Her friends are quite shock when visited her house saying that, isn’t that is the same as your restaurant? As she spends most of her time in the restaurant, she had made it her second home that ensure it’s a place like home to provide for diners.

khati (3)

If you are looking for nice local Malay authentic food, there is no doubt that this would be one of the places to look for.

khati (10)

khati (11)

Her shop is also being hunt by Jalan Jalan Cari Makan by TV3.

khati (12)

Not only that, she sang for our ex current Prime Minister

khati (4)

khati (5)

A place that resembles all her unique collection and award that she had got from the past to decorate it around her shop. If you would want to know, what she had sang, her shop would be the best place to see it.

khati (6)

Sang along with many great artist in the past.

Fish Farm Thai Restaurant During New Year Eve, whole group of my best friend came down to KL to celebrate and then since they started to know I blog about food and they had arrange the dinner to be somewhere unique and dalam dalam. When they told me about the location of the restaurant I ponder a while, keep recalling what are they talking about and Google through it, there are a few bloggers mention about this place most of them without address. When got the address from them I was like haaaaa…middle of nowhere. On the way there, it took me a few guessing and turning before reaching this place and only I realize that, Ampang Lookout Point is just there. (then only I realise that, the recent outing of Thai food seems to have unique locations and ambience)

Vegie Fish Farm

If you head from Ampang, you will pass through Lookout Point and proceed further down around 500m-800m, on your right you will see this small gate. That is where to turn in which is a private property. Then will have to drive through about 5 mins with the rocky and non tar road up and downhill till you reach this very huge parking space and farms around.

Vegie Fish Farm (2)

This is how the location of the Thai restaurant looks like, build with wood planks above the ponds that filled with fish Koi. If you have phobia of the wood planks broke then you can be seated on this very hard solid ground.

Vegie Fish Farm (3)

It looked like a mini village and its sure impressive when I saw it.

Vegie Fish Farm (4)

The place that where they prepare the desert.

Vegie Fish Farm (5)

Vegie Fish Farm (6)

It taste so awful and only learn that it is ‘Tody’ which is known as alcoholic drinks from coconut. This cup of drink definately not my type but my friend enjoys it alot. Small-RM 5

Vegie Fish Farm (12)
