[close down – only left at Bandar Puteri, Puchong]

Any of you love Penang food? I guess most of you do right and most of you would travel up North during long weekend for the awesome street food. Guess what! Now we have discover one new outlet that newly open in Kota Damansara recently that sell alot of best Penang street food under one roof, known as Penang One. Their first outlet is in Bandar Puteri, Puchong.

pg 1 (1)

Located in the heart of Kota Damansara where parking would be a big headache for you and this doesnt stop us from hunting it. Since our first visit, we have been going back as regular and I must say that the food is as good as where you can find in Penang. Definately not 100% but its at 80% similar which is good for us down in Klang Valley here.

pg 1 (2)

I am sure many of you still have yet discover fully where is the best food in Penang and the same goes to me. The owner have this big mission that wanted to provide folks in KL for good Penang food and therefore he himself as a Penangnite have work out a contract with all this famous hawker people to provide all the ingredients. All this being transport down to KL 2 days once. Therefore the taste is pretty much 80% the same as the famous hawker owner train all the staff themselves..

pg 1 (3)

The owner have marked down all the famous hawker stall location in the map and light history on the wall where he brought down here.

pg 1 (4)

Here you go on the list if you fancy any of the street food.

pg 1 (5)

Place here are pretty cozy and service here is pretty good~

pg 1 (6)

If you worry how they cook your meal and they have open concept kitchen for your viewing and those of you who loves the Tambun Biscuits & now they are available here too with the brand Him Heang which is one of my favourite brand. Now you need not queue that long as its while stock last daily.

pg 1 (7)

Lets see what we can have here and 8 of us are already very hungry.

pg 1 (8)

What is available in the menu is sufficient to stop our craving back in our hometown and we particularly ordered the whole menu, to try out on the taste.

pg 1 (9)

Homemade Otak Otak which is one of my favourite, no doubht that this taste exactly the same as one of my favourite stall. Steam to perfection that its soft on the outside and a huge slice of fish being inserted in the middle with fragrant leaves that absorb it very well. RM4.50 I have no complain in that.

pg 1 (10)

Those of you that miss Chee Cheong Fun, its all the way from Macalister Road. Prawn paste is good and just thick enough to coat around the chee cheong fun and although its not from my favourite Genting Kopitiam but this is as good as an alternative for me. @RM 3.90

pg 1 (16)

I certainly love Bak Chang – Special Dumpling @ RM 8.90 and alot people come here make a take away back to other country as they are being made fresh and air tight it in a pack of 8 if not mistaken. Then just put it into a boiling water for 5 minutes then you can eat it after that, with sticky rice and not too salty yet with generous amount of Ingredient.

pg 1 (21)

Another version of Bak Chang will be the white base and if not mistaken is the Teo Chew style as the filling is more towards peanuts. Not bad either as Ken loves this one and me prefer the traditional one.

pg 1 (17)

For Loh bak is hail all the way from Kheng Pin Kopitiam if not mistaken as I did saw a visual on that kopitiam on the wall. The Loh Sauce is as good as it is that is thicken, prawn crackers are fried to perfection. @RM 11.90

pg 1 (18)

The Asam Laksa is pretty well known in Lorong Selamat that I have not try before. When you talk about Lorong Selamat everyone’s thought would be Char Koey Teow! Nevertheless this is as good as it is, that cook with alot of mince fish meat and top with a few slices of fish as the top as we add on with additional RM1.50 . Soup is as good as the famous ones in Penang, sour enough and light spicy end with fish fragrant taste.. @ RM 8.50

pg 1 (11)

This is another stall that I have not tried before in Penang which is Kampung Jawa Char Koey Teow and I ask my friend they say its very good and their business hours is only from 7am – 10am daily and have to wait at least 30 minutes – 45 minutes for your plate to be serve. Will go back and try the original one but before that, the Char Koey Teow in this outlet best most of the stalls in KL. Cook till with wok hei and the koey teow is slight dry to my linking and top with huge prawns @RM 9.50

pg 1 (12)

This is the Yam Cake @ RM 5.50

pg 1 (13)

Ahh, version of Curry Mee is hard to find in Klang Valley they need to be serve along with pork blood. Most of the curry mee here is in curry soup base. Penang version is, soup is fragrant with light pandan and mild santan taste the follow I add in one full scoop of curry to make it fiery red. Perfect as it is. @ RM 8.50

pg 1 (14)

I get to know that Klang Valley is not pretty well known for Duck Meat Koey Teow Soup but i have always love mine in this version. Sou is sweet and filled with duck meat, fish balls, pork balls and fish cake that all is home made except pork ball.

pg 1 (15)

If you love New World Park Ice Kacang then you gonna love this as it taste exactly the same. I prefer the Ice Kacang @ RM 6.50 more than the Cendul.

pg 1 (19)

This make no exception as well Tee Nya Kuih from there as well @ RM 3.50. Have to be serve chill then add in gula melaka to eat along. Soft as it is and gula melaka is not too sweet.

pg 1 (20)

Muar Chee @ RM 3.90, as the difference is the peanut base as its slightly more fine.

pg 1 (22)

Rojak @ RM 7.50 is not the best one from Penang to my own preference but some they love it as well.

pg 1 (23)

This is my very own special request on my chilhood snacks. A huge slice of Seng Kuang then top the rojak sauce on the top add on with peanuts after that.

pg 1 (24)

This is what happen to us when we found something good and hail all the way back from our hometown. We order so much that we inteded to give it a sharing at first and end up most of us having each plate each.

If you are craving for Penang food and lazy to drive all the way up north, here is one of the best place you can find in Klang Valley and no complain at all. It beats alot of stall out there, and had become our weekly affair,  some is daily. 😀

Price is pretty reasonable with the concept that the owner is trying to do and portion is average. Not too big nor too small or if you compare to KL serving portion its definitely slightly smaller. A highly Recommended place by me for Penang food.

I have been working nearby for quite a while and everytime I drove pass by here, its always pretty crowded at this Rojak Stall that you will hardly miss with 2 vans parked side by side with one selling Cendol and another oen selling Rojak. As far as I know this stall had been here for donkey years already and attracted many loyal customers around the area.

The term rojak is pretty different when it comes to states as in my hometown we called it Pasembur and Rojak is those with prawn paste and fruits.

rojak (1)

They do not have a proper seating or tables as there are only a few plastic chairs available and sitting next to their van as the table to eat or when it get pack you can see many people standing around eating or even there are customers taking it to their car and eat.

rojak (2)

a

rojak (3)

rojak (4)

rojak (5)

Here is pretty well know for 2 types of rojak which is the classic and another version is Rojak Mee means with yellow noodle in it.

rojak (6)

Here is Rojak Mee @ RM 3.50 if I am not mistaken.

rojak (7)

Serve along with ingredients such as floury cake, sliced cucumber, hard boiled egg, fried tofu, bean sprout and fried crackers. I prefer mine without the noodle as I find the noodle spoil the taste of the gravy. This stall still not the best as the peanut sauce here is quite sweet for me, I prefer another stall which is in Seapark nearby Maybank.

rojak (8)

Besides the food, you can try out another type of Cendol which is slightly gives you different flavour compare to those in Penang or Melaka. For a bowl of Rm1.20 you really cannot expect alot. Again its just too sweet for me. Not my type of cendol.  Shaved ice is still pretty rough and the red bean they use is quite moist and soft. Well, I just finish 3 sip then I am done . .

Some of you might find this stall is pretty good. Really depends on your own taste.

Looking for nice Chinese food for company functions or family gathering? One restaurant the few restaurant that often pop out in my mind is from Oriental Group. One of the restaurant I prefer cuz of their food quality is there. Nevertheless, I believe some of you do dine one of their outlet, Oriental Pavillion in Jaya 33.

Well, they have now expend to next building with new concept & dining experience which is known as Noble Mansion in The Plaza which is Jaya 33 new building that located directly next to it.

Oriental (1)

It is another huge outlet by them again as one of the latest creations by Executive Chef Justin Hor, inspired by delicacies of Shunde, the renowned food province in Guangzhou, China. Noble Mansion is a modern interpretation of a Chinese traditional mansion. The restaurant is divided into a few sections – The Lantern, The Bamboo Courtyard, The Terracota Rooms and The Grand Hall – to elevate your dining experience to the next level.

Specially for this outlet, there are a few signature dishes such as Liver Sausage in ‘Char Siew’ Roll, Giant Scallops, Fresh Water Prawns, Ocean Garoupa & other Seafoods in a Big Wok with Fish Stock, Pan Fried Live Australian Whole Abalone, Roast Suckling Pig with Liver Sausage, Steamed Live Australian Perch with Chef’s Special Preserved Radish.

Oriental (2)

Upon entering their main entrance, you will be greeted upon and be seated at this huge waiting area.

Oriental (3)

Oriental (4)

Oriental (5)

For big families you will love it here as their private dining room is pretty huge and was told can maximum host 3 tables as we are seated in one of the room.

Oriental (8)

Some of the rooms even comes with karaoke set. Interesting. .

Oriental (9)

Chef Justin did mention before as Malaysian diners are very different compare with other countries, that everything we consume must pair along with some sauces. Therefore he created his own signature sauces and one of the sauces that you must not miss is his Chili Oil. Ken took 1 + 1 for himself when the night ends and some of them too. I love it myself with its fragrant and not too spicy of it. Perfect to go along with almost all dishes.

Oriental (10)

For a start we kick start with appetizer Zuchinni with minced Ginger @ RM 8. Something simple, with zuchinni is very crips and ginger is not too spicy. Love it.

Oriental (11)

If you want some pork satay to kick start off with first then BBQ Pork in Skewers @ RM 12 per portion is well marinated and bbq with chef special sauce at the side that pairs pretty well.

Oriental (12)

Smoked Vegetarian Spring Roll @ RM 8

Oriental (13)

Premium Anchovies & Star Fruit in the Oriental Cincalok Sauce @ RM 14 will be one of my recommended appetizer to start off with. Its something new that I have not tried before especially to take star fruit to comes out with starter and anchovies that combines very well in taste. A bit sour with light salty sweetness end that makes this one of its kind.

Oriental (14)

Nomally we have pig in the blanket and in Chinese restaurant this will be one of the dish is similiar to that, Liver Sausage ‘Char Siew Roll’ @ RM 16. Drench in its own special sauce before going into pan fried and the fragrant of the char siew has the taste of light smoky end, top with some sesame on top to enhance the light taste of it.

Oriental (15)

If you do dine at Oriental Group often, I am sure that you know a few of their signature. One of it is Steamed Fresh Water Prawns @ RM 28 per pax. Huge juicy succulent prawn being steam along with organic egg yolk to make the sauce slightly creamy, which is just perfect that is not too thick. We drank the sauce till its last drop.

Oriental (16)

This is another new type of dish I am getting, Steamed Ocean Garoupa with Shunde Style @ RM 330 each. Love the taste of it as you can see there are green and red chili being added on top. Steam along that make the soy sauce taste awesome, filled with light green chili sour vinegar taste with chef special season for red chili make it mild spicy. Perfect to go along with rice.

Oriental (17)

Fish meat is so soft, taste sweet and fresh.

Oriental (18)

Ehhemm.. How often do you see such a huge shinning piglet being place infront of your dinning table. I can count mine with 5 fingers. 😀

Oriental (19)

We enjoy every bite of this piglet as its pretty huge. Well marinated from chef own special ingredient then slowly roast it. The skin is so crisps that after put in mouth, I can hear the person next to me on the sound of the crisps. The meat is soft and tender with fragrance of it so aromatic. A MUST HAVE!

Oriental (20)

Before our next dish, we are given lemon, star fruit shots to cleanse our palette before next dish. If I can have 4 more shots, it will be just nice. 😀

Oriental (21)

Lobster with Chicken & Pig Stomach in Spicy Sauce @ RM 80 per person.

Oriental (22)

One of the dishes that not many people will like the whole 3 ingredients being added on, especially me and a few others we feel blessed as most of the pig stomach is finish by us. Done perfectly well, with lobster is fresh and chewy to my likings and the spicy end its nice to end with a little spicy. Optional, you can add on with their chili oil to bring in extra flavor.

Oriental (23)

Oriental (24)

After with a lot of meat, I find that Braised wolfberry shoots with egg @ RM 28 per portion its very appetizing , simple and nice.

Oriental (26)

Next dish is another surprise for us as Roasted Suckling Pig with Glutinous Rice @ RM 330 is another wonderful dish.

Oriental (25)

Oriental (27)

Aromatic enough to make it as a closing dish for mains. Every one just attack on the skin first follow suit with the rice.

Oriental (28)

Rice Noodle with Abalone Sauce @ RM 28.

Oriental (29)

Sauce is thick enough and yet very fragrant as the sauce is being boiled and prepare for few hours.

Oriental (30)

As for dessert, we are being served with Chilled Sweetend Fuji Apple with Snow Jelly, Ginko, Fresh Lily & Red Dates @ RM 13 per pax. A MUST HAVE dessert that the soup is refreshing, mild sweetness and I am enjoying every sip and bite of it.

Oriental (31)

Angry Bird? Nope, this is cute little piglets known as Longevity Piglet Bun @ RM 28 for 4 pcs.

Oriental (32)

Its filled with leng yong and salted egg in it to make it a perfect ending for all of us.

Of course, I do dine at some of their outlets and surely this restaurant offereing is another new range of food by the Chef himselves to make this outlet different from what they have. IF you are looking to dine some Chinese food with some infusion from China, this is certainly will be one of the outlet to pay a visit. Recommended.

I have always been a fan of Vietnamese food, as I had alot nice one when I was at oversea. Well, still nothing to be compared. When this shop open few years back, I have heard much good feedback from my ex colleague when they went to dine there with clients. One of the set back was, its a bit pricey to dine there then timing was right a while ago as they were doing promo and decided to stop by with a group of friends.

sao nam (1)

Sao Nam is easily located at LG of Empire Shopping Mall.

sao nam (2)

sao nam (5)

For a Vietnamese Food, they really offer quite a unique range of food compare to any other restaurant that I have been too.

sao nam (8)

Of course when you are in this shop, Prawn Spring Roll (6pcs) @ RM 18 its pretty classic item to order or one of the dish that represent Vietnamese food. Roll up pretty well with the sauce to dip along and prawn is fresh~

sao nam (9)

I am not sure I put this name on the correct picture or not as Banana Flower & Chicken @ RM 20 its one of a good appetizer to start off with. It was gone within seconds as it has a bit of sourish, and sweet end. Just perfect.

sao nam (10)

I read many review, this is one of a dish that highly recommended by many people and same goes to me. Mangosteen & Prawn Salad @ RM 32 is a very unique salad that I have come across, they used Mangosteen to pair it as we thought it was weird at first then, the flavour is sour with their special sauce make it very good to go along with the prawn.

sao nam (11)

Vietnamese Pancake @ RM 26

sao nam (12)

When this is serve, it looks and smells good but taste differently. Part of it is with the dressing that they have in there. I do not really like it but some of my friends love it.

sao nam (13)

Rice Rolls Lotus Leaf (6pcs) @ RM 21

sao nam (14)

sao nam (16)

If you are having rice and Lamb Curry @ Rm 34 is a must order. Thick in curry gravy with lamb cubes are cook till soft. A bit sweet and spicy and those of you do not like the taste of lamb do not order this. Its quite strong even you can smell it, according to my friend.

sao nam (17)

Chicken Lemongrass @ RM 20 is another dish that you can consider even ordering. The soup that cook along is fragrant with mild lemongrass taste that I would rate it like Steam Chinese Wine chicken but this is Vietnamese version.

sao nam (20)

Imperial Lotus Leaf Rice @ RM 18

sao nam (21)

Sweet Potato Leaves @ RM 12

sao nam (22)

Friend Tofu @ RM 22

sao nam (18)

sao nam (19)

In Vietnamaese Food, of course we must try out their Hue Beef Noodle Soup @ RM 18, soup is sweet with thin noodle and few beef slices to go along. Pretty good though.

No doubht that this place do provide nice Vietnamese Food, and if you are willing to pay a bit more, you can even consider this place for dining.

After bubble milk hit hard on our local shores then what is the next buzz? Well, there are 2 actually as now little cafe’s are popping up in many corner and there are a few good ones and burger is also the next big thing here. One of the latest outlet to open its door to public is KGB (Killer Gourmet Burgers) that located the same row as Antipodean Jalan Telawi there.

KGB (1)

Its a small shop that operating around the area that soon to be filled with many coffee joints. Started off bout less than a month if I am not mistaken and its start to gain its popularity over the neighbourhood with a few bloggeres blogged about them.

KGB (2)

On our first visit we came it was rather dissapointed cuz we did not know the opereate only at night for the 1st month and for the following week, we decided to come back for dinner. STaff here are very helpful and friendly as they are explaining to us what to eat and try for first timer.

KGB (3)

Menu are pretty straight forward with what types of meat you prefer and there is not much to choose from which makes us easier to make up our mind.

KGB (4)

KGB (5)

chicken bites are pretty good though, fried to crips and the best thing to pair with it is their special made sauce. Light sourish end that goes well with it.

KGB (6)

Kimchi with Bulgogi Beef Fries @ RM 13.90

KGB (7)

this is another item that attracted our attention. Looks good but the taste is still room for improvemement as we did gave our feedback to them.

KGB (8)

If you cant take beef then this is one of the choices to go for. Seoul Chicken @ RM 15.90, find that the taste is bit funny.

KGB (15)

on the size of the chicken breast that they are using, its quite thick, and still juicy after fried.

KGB (9)

All their burgers come in their signature and one of the best is not only their patty is also their bun. I love it as its soft and fluffy yet toast to my likings.

KGB (10)

The Bobcat burger @ RM15.90 made with luscious green chili slaw & jalapeno mayo. If you cant take spicy then skip this as the spicy dont hit you instantly. It comes after that. To me its still okay.

KGB (11)

The Shack turns out to be one of my favourite in the list @ RM13.90 nett, the patty is fragrant and juicy top with a slice of cheddar cheese with Shack sauce sandwiched in the fresh, fluffy bread. I just called it Cheeze burger. One of the best in the list that wont go wrong. – Highly Recommended

KGB (12)

The Tornado @ RM15.90 – Looks big that filled with onnion rings, fried egg and fiery mayo. I expect this to be spicy because of the word fiery mayo but didnt enlighten me with that.

KGB (13)

I must say that the chef here are pretty good that able to make nearly all my range of burgers medium, that make it soft and juicy. All of us love it.

KGB (14)

this is one of the special homemade sauce. Its good!

Remark: Do take not that some of the burgers are filled with sauces and it might get messy . . Do take tissue to prepare. 😀
