Previously when I was introduce to Anuar’s Fish Head Curry & Indian Apam at Lucky Garden, I was told that this malay food stall also offer great food. Decided to come by since I am on my way back to ease my cravings for apam. Yusof Tomyam is another stall ad the far end that enjoys good business at night.

Its funny to see how the guy look at me while eating. .  I can see in the kicthen its operate by young malay chef and its quite busy in there with a few chef in a line.

bangsar (2)

This is one of a very traditional Indian apam next to this Malay stall that I am craving for.

bangsar (3)

Since I was told that thier Tomyum and fish range are a must order then I ordered Ikan Bawal Goreng Tiga Rasa. When it was serve, the aroma of it is so fragrant and can still smell the freshly fried fish smell. The fish is fried to perfection that the skin and tail is so crisps that shower along with this gravy that is so fragrant, with light spicy and sour end. The more I take on the gravy, the more spicy it had become as it cook along with chili padi. NExt is  telur bistik which I forgot to take picture on. Egg fried in gravy that pair with my rice perfectly well.

Here comes the Tomyum Chicken. Loving it as it has well balance of spicy and sour to my liking. Chicken is soft that they did not over cook it.

Overall if you are asking me where to get nice Halal food or nice malay food in Bangsar, certainly this is one of the stall that I would be recommending. Decent pricing and the food is above average.

Past weekend, I get a chance to follow BangsarBabe for lunch outing. Then she introduce us one of her favourite spot in Lucky Garden that she come very often which is Anuar’s Kari Kepala Ikan (Anuar’s Fish Head Curry)/ Bangsar Fish Head corner. On this spot, its hard for you to miss as during lunch time, it will be very pack and long queue.

Then only get to know that, he is no stranger to many local residence there and had attracted many loyal patrons since operating the business 30 years ago.

bangsar (3)

This is one of the most simplest stall that I ever come accross that attracted so long queue, with the stall only selling, fried chicken, fried fish and curry fish head,

The fried chicken is hard to resist whereby I thought I only wanted a piece and ended up having another 2 more. Fried to crisp and well marinated that make it flavorful. Not a big piece but just nice.

bangsar (6)

Then Riff told us, Sotong is a must and fried fish. For curry fish head, usually he and bangsarbabe could not finish and since so many of us here, we must eat the fish head. All are good, with sotong is fresh and chewy, well marinated, curry fish head is huge and curry is mild follow with pairing of fried fish. Just perfect.

Now only I understand why its famous because if you wanna get cheap good food, this is one of the place to hunt for it. Limited choices but good enough to please our tummy.

After our heavy meal, a stone throw away, comes to this famous Indian Apam which is a must have after your meal. A very traditional type of eatery that I came across for the first time.

Alot people came here for the Tosei and others.

bangsar (9)

This is another busy stall known as OM Shakti Chelo’s Appam stall, sell vegetarian food.

bangsar (10)

bangsar (11)

This lady busy preparing and coordination with 6 woks to meet customers demand, as this apam is cook with small fire.

bangsar (12)

Order Mee Goreng, its pretty plain and nothing to shout about or maybe in my mind, I was thinking of Penang Mee Goreng.

bangsar (13)

This is the famous Indian Classic/traditional apam. I have never come across in this version. It was done with perfection that it smells so good.

bangsar (14)

Crisp on all corner that is aromatic that I even steal my friends portion and right in the middle is filled with coconut milk and sugar. A bit moist and enjoying every bite of it.

If you are looking for cheap eats in Bangsar, then head to Lucky Garden to hunt for cheap nice food.

Halal

Remark: In the mornings, they serve roti canai

If you are there during the night, I find that this tai chow, Sin Lai Ping is good and cheap . Worth to give it a try. .  (NON-HALAL)

It has been long long time since I last came to this coffee shop and I think the last round I came here was bout 12 years ago, during college time. Used to come here to have our breakfast weekly before class and since then did not really come over. Its one of a famous kopitiam, New Cathay Kopitiam known for breakfast that you will be spoil for choices, as the food here are pretty good.

new cathay (1)

Till last holiday, went for hiking and came down, then my friend keep asking me where to eat and I mention why not go back to our old kopitiam and he mention good idea where he also did not go there for quite a while.

new cathay (2)

As usual, I will order my few favourites in a shop and I am suprise to see that this Curry Mee stall is listed as one of a top 10 food to eat in a online guide and my friend told me that their business been so good that make them actually a star in this kopitiam. They also got feature in Penang Food Trail and Rasa Rasa Penang.

new cathay (4)

All the classic food are available as you name it, most of the food you can get it here, from Char Koay Kak, HOkkien Mee, Char Koey Teow, Wantan Mee, and many more. . .

new cathay (5)

Not only that, this kopitiam had gain its popularity to many tourist, as the table I am sharing, have Indonesians, Ipoh People and Thai people.

new cathay (6)

Oh, one of my favourite Indian Apam as Penang version is slightly different to those in KL. Right in the middle we have an egg that makes it flavourful. I forgot to take pic of it. 😀

new cathay (7)

HOkkien Mee here are pretty good as the soup base are pretty sweet with prawn head taste and I always love mine to have lots of Chili to make it extra kick.

new cathay (8)

Although Curry Mee are listed in food guide and online guide, I find that the soup flavour is pretty mild with coconut taste and the curry paste they have is slightly different. The squid sauce that make it slightly sweet that doesnt comes to my liking. I prefer other places but well,

new cathay (9)

This is not Chinese Pan cake, but more like a modified version and used to be famous back in those days and now, I guess many prefer hawker food and I still find this pretty good,as its filled with Banana, raisins, egg and pair with my kopi kau just nice.. @ RM 5

If you are in Penang, you can put this kopitiam as one of your hunting ground for breakfast. . Wan TAn Mee here is quite another signature too. .
