ara damansara

After successful set up its stake in Klang, Pims Thai food have now expended to PJ area due to his regular demands. With this new expansion also comes with new concept where this outlet is known as Pims & The Rama – Real Thai Restaurant and Bar that located in Ara Suria. It is also one of my favourite Thai food place also finally open in PJ  for just only about 2 months, serving classic Thai and some street food item. Klang outlet click here.

Pims & The Rama (1)

This new cafe is to set its food and position itself closer to its diners where understood that ambiance is quite important.

Pims & The Rama (2)

Outdoor seating area is quite spacious.

Pims & The Rama (3)

Their indoor seating area definately looks comfy. Looks like a modern setting of home, bar and a restaurant. A clever combination.

Pims & The Rama (4)

Not only that, to be more interactive with their customers, diners can now #pimsramathai at Instagram to get a picture printed out and also a voucher.

Pims & The Rama (5)

Sofa for drinking chilling area.

Pims & The Rama (6)

Private room to cater for family and birthday parties.

Pims & The Rama (7)

For interior, they do decorate some pictures and pieces of the Thai King.

Pims & The Rama (8)

Menu is quite extensive . . .

Pims & The Rama (9)

Pims & The Rama (10)

One of their new item and it is fried to perfection is Rama’s Beloved Fried Donut Prawns (Tod Man Gong) @ RM 18.90. Fresh mince meat with prawns and it is crispy and to dip with their chef special sauce is good! – recommended!

Pims & The Rama (11)

Love their Thai Ice Tea too as it is pretty solid and sweetness is just right for me @ RM 5.50. To be more classic street style then Thai Ice Red Soda is refreshing and a must in our current hot weather. @ RM 4.90

Cocktail not in the menu, but will be available soon.

Pims & The Rama (12)

As this was highly recommended by the manager is Deep fried fish. Whole fish fried to perfection where the head looks fine and meat is cut to a decent size where each piece of meat is a mouthful bite. Just sprinkle with some salt and their thai fish sauce to enhance the fresh fish flavour.

Pims & The Rama (13)

Pims & The Rama (14)

Their signature mini hotpot is one of a deal hunter where it is filled with squid, tiger prawns, eggs, thai roast pork, scallops, clamps just for RM 39.90 only. Below it, is filled with chef special made noodle.

Pims & The Rama (15)

Pims & The Rama (16)

Pims & The Rama (17)

Thai Otah Otah Seafood is also one of their specialty @ RM 25.50

Pims & The Rama (18)

Pims & The Rama (19)

If you love Thai Street food, then one of the item some of you could have try before is the Thai Style Yong Taufu in their special red pinky red soup base. This is a very authentic pot. Love the soup base that carry some sourish, sweetness and a base that gels well with the ingredient in it.

Pims & The Rama (20)

Pims & The Rama (21)

Noodle to end the mini Tomyum Hotpot!

Pims & The Rama (22)

If you are a classic street food lover, then their signature Pork Leg Rice is must order! Braised in long hours to get the skin smooth, shinning and meat that near melt in your mouth is something you could not ask for an item out from Thailand. @ Set lunch set only at RM 12.90

Pims & The Rama (23)

Tomyum Seafood @ RM 29.90 &  Phad Thai is also good but their version is slightly sweet as Phad Thai varies from different region. It is like Char Koey Teow in Penang and KL is different. Personally, would consider this place as one of a better or best Thai Food in PJ.

When Coffee hype first started, I still remember clearly that Coffee Et Cetera or known as Coffee ETC is one of the earlier player in the scene that is well known for their Belgian Waffle. Back in those days, tried a few times to visit this place while on the way dropping or fetching my friend from Subang Airport where I did not pay my attention to their operating hours which cause me visited them 3 times on Sunday and it was closed. Soon only realize, their business is base on commercial crowd and neighborhood around the area.

Coffee Etc (1)

Coffee Etc (2)

Coffee ETC ambiance sure do give me the hint that they are more like a fast coffee concept, where you do place your order at the counter and also found out that they are a locally establish. Over the years that they have been operating, they have created a unique concept where Café by day, Bar by night .

During night, they have live band to add on the vibe of a little music cafe/bar where service is also different. They do have a service floor staff to take order at your table instead of self service concept in the morning.

Coffee Etc (3)

menu 1

For Coffee lovers, you get to choose 3 different types of beans, from Medium Roast, Dark Roast And Darkest Roast.

Coffee Etc (5)

Coffee Etc (4)

Lots of magazine for you to flip through

Coffee Etc (6)

Like any other fast coffee chain, self service counter with all the sugars and syrup is at the side and they do have merchandise for you to hunt for too.

Coffee Etc (7)

Coffee Etc (8)

For coffee on that day, we tried Latte Medium Roast @ RM 13.50, Dark Roast and Darkest roast along with Mocha and Chai Latte. To my suprise, their coffee is actually good where I love their Medium roast with mild hint of bitterness and sour at the end is what I prefer. Heavy coffee drinker or taste bud, Darkest roast would be your ideal. I would rate their Chai Latte @ RM 15.50  is more like a entry level, with mild hint of spice yet it is very smooth to drink.

I think their Ice Chocolate @ RM 16.50 blend beats many cafe out there with strong taste of chocolate and well balance.

Coffee Etc (9)

Coffee Etc (10)

To me, this is one of the star drink in the outlet. Icy Fruit Beer is so refreshing that it is quite similiar to those that I drink in one of a night market in Bangkok. It is a well balance of taste of fruit that gives you the sweetness in the blend of beer. A great thirst quencher. RM15

One of a newer item in their list is this soft fluffy pillow buns. Among the two, I prefer Grilled Chicken. Marinated well and love the sauce. Others love their Crispy Chicken with their special home made sauce. Pair it with Icy Fruit Beer, is just perfect. RM 13.50

Coffee Etc (11)

Coffee Etc (12)

Croissant sandwich is one of their best seller in the morning, either Scramble Egg or Tuna.

Coffee Etc (13)

When it hit lunch time, Nasi Lemak is one of their star where chicken is fried to perfection where the skin is crispy and best of all, their sambal do not look only in fiery red, it is indeed spicy enough to make you sweat and go numb.

Coffee Etc (14)

This is something new to me where Spicy Seafood Aglio Olio serve in special bread. Pan Fried Spaghetti with house chicken broth, olive oil, garlic, mushrooms, herbs, chili padi, shrimp, squid and light parmesan cheese @ RM 21.90

Tom Yum Seafood Spaghetti @ RM 17.90 is new in the menu, Pan Fried Tom yum Spaghetti with olive oil, straw mushrooms, herbs, chill padi, shrimp and squid.

Coffee Etc (15)

Coffee Etc (16)

Of course to tried out their well known Belgian Liege Waffles, starting off with original, with Haagen Dazs ice cream is top with Crushed Cookies, Chocolate Syrup & Whipped Cream.

Coffee Etc (18)

Among the four, I love their Original where I like the taste of little sugary and slight crips on the outside yet it is slightly chewy in the middle. The rest might be a little too sweet for me.

Coffee Etc (17)

their Best Seller – Crushed Cookies with Haagen Dazs ice Cream @ RM19.55

Remember that when we were in primary, story telling always start with 3 races that create the harmony of this country. This name really represent our childhood story at school as Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock is one of a quite well know local cuisine in Ara Damansara Oasis that is pretty well know for a few of their local item especially Nasi Lemak is one of the item to hunt for!

ahbeng (1)

ahbeng (2)

A very simple dining canteen style setting that do make a buzz with many families around this area and its pretty pack on weekend.

ahbeng (4)

ahbeng (6)

Price is quite reasonable. . .

ahbeng (8)

Roti Jala was recommended by my friend as its one of her favoureite and turns out to be pretty good especially on the curry gravy. Thick enough yet chicken is soft and tender yet roti jala is not too hard. A perfect match.

ahbeng (9)

ahbeng (10)

Nasi Lemak was the most higly recommended by those 2 clowns as they mention this is their usual spot for nasi lemak.

ahbeng (11)

No doubt that I have to agree with them that the fried chicken is fried to perfection and well marinated with spices, sambal is spicy enough to make it extra kick and most imporant the rice is fragrant with coconut and pandan flavour. Great stuff!

It was one weekend then suddenly keen on trying something new for brunch yet its pretty understand that its pretty expensive, that’s why I rarely hunt for those. Well, decided to give it a try again by hitting on my PC and hunt for good offerings for brunch place.

I suggested The Good Batch and my friend was mentioning too pack over weekend. Find some where else then came by to this at Ara Damansara – Mr & Ms that is a joint that have many mix feedback. Therefore decided to give it a try since will end up good or bad. Verdict is. . .

mr (1)

For a Sunday Brunch place in Oasis Damansara with such a queue is pretty impressive then only my friend told me that they have gain their popularity 6 months back.

mr (2)

For a brunch place on weekend, this is crazy pack.

mr (3)

mr (4)

Menu is pretty straight forward with only 2-3 pager offerings.

mr (5)

Tried out their Latte @ RM 8 turns out to be no complain ..

mr (7)

then ordered one of their Salmon Scramble Egg which is recommended by many other bloggers @ RM 15.90.

mr (6)

It turns out to be nothing special as its just scramble egg with few mini slices of salmon. Only thing that impress me is their bread and find it nothing to shout about.

mr (8)

Another big recommendation by others is Baked Egg with Sausages @ RM 17.90

mr (9)

Baked in a nice small pot that is serve pippin hot with egg yolk is still yolky on the top and its pretty fragrant from the smell of it yet I find it quite sad its the serving style of it makes it pretty empty for me as I find it a bit overpaid for it.

Base of it taste like spaghetti  marinara sauce base which is pretty pungent and you have to dip it with bread.

mr (11)

Find that this place is way overrated and nothing much to shout about. Just that if you do not mind to pay something extra for your brunch then do feel free to drop by.
