Authentic Style

Browsing

On our very next morning, woke up early and Agnes came by and bring us to breakfast hunting. .  So the very first shop mention by her is one of her favourite that served quite authentic style of Bandung Style Breakfast. . .

A few street shots on the way to our first stop. .  .

Early morning people stop by at newspaper street stand to read the latest news. . .

then saw this stall sell this quite unique cake and it smells nice. . . so I bought a piece to try out .. which is located right infront of the shop . . .

We had reach our first stop of the day Warung Kopi Purnama which is located at Jalan Alketeri 22. . .

with a few paintings on the wall .. .

Even some people just sit outside of the shop to enjoy the morning chit chat and tea. . .

I just love this place, which is classic out of town coffee shop feel

Even their early morning kopitiam culture and ours is pretty much the same where our parents or grand parents would love to sit and hang out to chat with their friends in the morning before heading to work or after shopping from wet market .. .

This is their menu offer in the Warung. . .I felt that its more like our Hailanese Breakfast just that its in Indonesian style .. .

This is the pancake that sell outside the house, which is very nice in aroma, well mixture of ingredient then baked in between iron rod with outer layer very crips and soft inside with a bit of custard cream . . Nice. . .

Kick start our breakfast with Tea, and their tea is a bit mild that taste a bit like taiwan bubble milk tea. . .

Roti Dadar Ham is piece of bread wrap with a thin layer of egg then add on with chunks of ham. . .just dip it with chili sauce will be very simple and nice. .

Risoles is more like a breaded pastry that coated with breadcrumbs and filled with their own ingredient then deep fried. Something new to me ..  and we finish it within seconds. .. To me, it is like a popiah with a bit gravy ingredient inside. ..

I seldom miss out this which is ‘Roti Cheeze Bakar’ with butter spread at the bottom and lots of fine sherreded cheeze on top`

Otak-otak in Bandung is something new to me in the taste. Very sticky in texture,  with no hint of spices in it and it is not my preference. . .

After the first round, we head to next destination , Mie Rica Kejaksaan at Hyper Square. . . ..

A shop where served most of its food spicy and there are a few levels for you to choose from . .

that can select a few types Mie Rica the original, Mie pedas Udang Goreng and a few more. .

signature of the shop is their chili or sambal paste. . .

We order Mie Rica with spiciness of level 3 ..  and a bowl of additional gravy then you can add more of the sambal into your noodle if you feel that you can take more spiciness. ..  I had only 2 bites and I am KO’ed. . It was so spicy but the taste is so good, noodle was springy and I am sweating away while eating this.

If you do come to Bandung.. This is a shop you must not miss. . .Mie Rica @ Hyper Square .. .

After the meal, we then walked opposite the shop to buy one of their local desert Amanda Brownies Kukus. . .

many types of pastries to choose from  . .. . .

and the Brownie Kukus are available in so many flavour. ..  I bought the Choco Marble and I find it very sweet, nothing much to boast a bout. . .

It was super full or super heavy breakfast then we will go for a stroll at the non-active volcano . ..

Pan Mee no longer is a stranger to most of us and even some of you guys loving it with the original taste especially with the hand kneaded it out from the flour as that would be the authentic style, that I like  Ah Tee or Jojo Pan Mee. As now, more people are eating healthily, and I got so surprise that when I heard about this shop, House of Ceggo Food Station that located inside Taman Desa it’s a must go for me to try it out, with their unique preparation of soup base and cooking style of Pan Mee.

Ceggo

This shop is not hard to be located which is directly inside the whole stretch of shoplot.

Ceggo (2)

To me, the first feeling is more like those Hong Kong style cafe as what we seen in TVB with those push door and glass panel with two big chinese wordings on the glass panel.

Ceggo (3)

‘Lemon Grass Drink’ as I never really like the taste of the lemon grass but suprisingly the taste is not that strong as it taste quite fragrant and I end up having two glass of it.

Ceggo (4)

As I mention with those Hand Peeled or Hand Kneaded is one of the authentic way to prepare this Pan Mee but as the picture shown in the menu for the types of Noodle available, its quite cute for its description.

Ceggo (5)

Ceggo (6)

‘Fried Sui Kau’ Deep fried with solid mince meat, mix with small chunks of water chestnut, and some finely chopped spinach is good, crispy on the skin and dip with chili sauce is always the best.

Ceggo (7)

We start off with ‘Aunthentic Pan Mee’ which you can order with Hand Peel which is hand peeled from a big chunk of flour or

Ceggo (8)

Flat Rolled noodle as shown in the pictures.

Ceggo (9)

Next that got served, which really caught my interest is the ‘Tomato Pan Mee’ with most of the ingredient added on are the same which is anchovies, mince chicken meat, fried Tau Kee and the most important is the tomato soup base. Rich in flavor that create a bit thick milky taste and the noodle is perfectly cook, I just love it as it had the similar taste like Spaghetti Bolognese but appear in soup version – Recommended

Ceggo (10)

‘Ma Lat (Extra Spicy) Pan Mee’ that we got deceived by the fiery red colour of it and thought that it would be extremely spicy, but it turns out to be a bit of sour and spicy level which is not that Spicy to me and the rest.

Ceggo (12)

Another star of the night is ‘Pumpkin Pan Mee’ that I have always love pumpkin soup but now it had add in noodle and its not that milky and thick in taste as the soup serve purely in the restaurant as this had some modification that makes it blend very well with the soup base and the noodle. – Recommended

Ceggo (13)

If you are yam lover then you would want to miss their ‘Yam Pan Mee’ that used huge piece of yam cook inside the soup then cut into pieces to serve along with noodle and you just imagine, the yam fragrance and the soup did taste a bit ashy from the long boiled yam in the stove. Good Soup base I would say.

Ceggo (14)

Opt for something healthy or you dont feel well on that day, ‘Spinach Pan Mee’ is the one you are going after with finely chopped spinach that blend with flour and it is more like 80% pure of veggie in it that serve along with authentic soup base.

Ceggo (15)

‘Curry Chicken Pan Mee’ after shooting and it was gone in seconds. Thick Curry Chicken that pour upon the dry noodle that mix with black sauce just mix it very well, chicken is soft and juicy.

Ceggo (16)

‘Loh Pan Mee’ cook in the form of thick soup base, that do not taste very salty and a bit like shark fin soup taste but if you eat it pure the taste would not be that good, the trick is add in vinegar, it will pull up the taste and we add in the available vinegar given to us and finish fast.

Ceggo (17)

On that night it was Lionel Birthday and Sunny had prepared a Passion Fruit came for him.

Ceggo (18)

Lionel the happy guy for the night~ and of course it was a great discovery for us that we found a new nice place to eat and certainly I am going back for more that I would be recommending this place, as it is very reasonable in price starting from RM5.50 – RM9 per bowl.

To hunt for nice food is always not easy, especially with home cook and traditional style, it was not until recently we discover a place that cook good Teow Chew and Hakka food which is located at SS14, a place which I went pretty often for the nasi lemak during my college days.

This restaurant is more than 20 years old which first the family run its business on southern Johore and until few years back one of the siblings decided to open one branch in the urban city area that run similar menu. Their signature dish to look for is more on soup and porridge.
