Kok Siong Nasi Kandar Penang @ Puchong

I rarely did not know about this stall till I see some one posted in Makan group. Kok Siong Nasi Kandar Penang located in Puchong which is actually a stone throw away from Tesco Puchong or so called newly revamp Lotus Puchong. I believe this is a hidden Gem in Puchong as I have rarely come across any Chinese Nasi Kandar except those in Alor Setar.

Little did I know also Penang got Chinese Nasi Kandar.

Never the less, this is only the super long queue stall inside Restaurant Kok Siong which I certainly believe he also runs the kopitiam. There are other stalls too is just that Kok Siong Nasi Kandar in PJ is super prominent.

This Chinese Nasi Kandar not the typical usual you see like our mamak as they only offer super limited dishes only.

  1. fried chicken
  2. each plate comes with veggie
  3. sotong (super huge and my next aim)
  4. mutton curry
  5. salted egg
  6. and 2 other dishes of the day

Just look at the colour of the gravy! it is super tempting and as I stand at the spot where I took this picture, the aroma of curry just cut thru my mask and imagine how pungent the taste is.

Of course all my nasi Kandar is always banjir with gravy. Need to mix all of it. Mine is filled with :

2 x fried chicken, mutton curry, papadem, salted egg @ RM33. I think its on the steep side. Fried chicken is fried to perfection, where it is juicy inside and outside remains crispy as just fresh out from the wok. Mutton is perfect for me too as it is soft, slightly chewy to my liking and mild mutton taste as where it needs to make it umami!

Be Prepare to queue, but it moves fast as everyone just pack and go and it is not much choices too. I will certainly come back again for this as I find the curry is punch with flavours like classic Penang Nasi Kandar. BEST!

Yap Chuan Bak Kut Teh @ Bandar Puchong Utama

Hmmm, in Puchong certainly there are many places to hunt for food especially in Bandar Puteri. With a stone throw away, you can easily find any eatery shop. The question is how many outlet serve nice food? When I was staying in Puchong few months back, then craving for Bak Kut Teh, asked my brother where is the nicest one and he brought me to this place which is quite deep inside Puchong. Apparently Yap Chuan Bak Kut Teh is one of a famous one around the area . .

Located in 2 rows of busy shop house then reach this bright red orangy sign board on the corner unit.

The tradition of ordering BKT is one pot with soup base and another one dry version.

Right after the BKT being serve in pippin hot, smell of it is pretty good with herbal smell and ingredient is pretty generous by the owner. Trying out to sip the soup turns out to be good, slightly strong in herbal taste as the soup is not too thick, just nice to my liking and ingredient been cook to perfection. A perfect combination with my rice and I drank a lot of the soup.

Just love the spare parts that they put along and look at the intestine, multi layered chewy and good!

Next is the Dry BKT, being cook in thick soy sauce, little sweeten yet the gravy being cook till all well coated onto the pork ended with mild herb taste. I find that both are pretty good and just that the dry version stood out better.

Overall, I would find this BKT shop are pretty good that can go on par with those at Klang and I am sure that this Yap Chuan Bak Kut Teh is one of the best can be found in Puchong. Set back is, its too far for me now as I have move to Segambut. I guess I have to start hunting BKT around these area.
