uma (1)

The Uma which located in Kota Damansara next to the Strand that offers a great selection of Balinese food and best of all, its a shop that offers NON-HALAL food. The chef cum owner had work in Indonesia previously and decided to come back to spread Balinese cuisine to locals.

uma (2)

The whole interior was decorated to get as much feel of Balinese as possible, with wooden chairs and tables, and if you prefer something different for dining, you can head upstairs.

With simple decoration that put on the wall of scenery of paddy field, makes you feel like as if you are dining next to it and up in here, they do not have chairs, that offer to sit on the floor style with pillows for your comfort.

uma (6)

They are reasonably price with the portion they serve, you better opted to share and it is advice that for a pax of 3 person you order 2 person’s meal. If not enough then only decided to order extra.

Then I google up what this place have to offer as it is more like a friends and family gateway to enjoy their activities such as Flying Fox, Swing and Swing, and of course some restaurants. For more info can check out at their website : KampungGajah

Just spend a few minutes to take a quick snapshot then we heading to Kampung Daun which is Highly Recommended by me if you do visit Bandung. A place that filled with very classic traditional filled with their culture ambiance that located right in the middle of the forest that had transform to a perfect dining area.

a big New Year Eve party was organised here and heard my friend said that it was a blast.

All the dining area are build in their very own unique way and it is really a huge place to walk around. You would like to dine in a very homey ‘Kampung Style’ dining, then can go for this kind of ambiance, that seated with a table of 6 and if you have more pax they have bigger place.

daun (5)

As we walked further up at this chill and fresh environment with the sound of waterfall flowing, we feel so fresh and relax. . .

daun (6)

Another type of dining area which is more casual that be seated on a ‘rattan’ style with pillow to support. . .

daun (7)

With the natural water flowing from the top of the hill, they had make it as the heart of the restaurant as hut or dining area can hear the sound of it. . .

daun (8)

Then we choose a hut that filled with mat paved on the wooden flank, then just lye on the cushion enjoy chatting and the ambiance of it, with the group of new friends. . . .

Ginger Cinnamon Tea. . . .

After spending 1 hour at this cozy place, its time for us to get even more relax as we were brought to this Hot Natural Hot Spring at 11pm at night and the weather around the area is around 21degree which is just perfect to dip in this warm pool.

There are 2 pool which is 1 about room temperature and the other pool which is warmer.

Do bear in mind that to come to this place, will need to bring your own clothing, trunks or swimwear, and of course towel, if not to purchase there, its extremely expensive.

daun (15)

Soaking ourselves for quite a while and on the way heading back, they introduce us a place which is nice for satay especially the meat is ‘Rabbit’

daun (16)

daun (17)

daun (18)

daun (20)

I have always miss the satay in Indonesia as their peanut sauce is a bit different that do add in some of sweet soy sauce and their own spicy sauce. So sad that they do not served Rabbit meat that day as it was their signature if not mistaken, then ordered mutton and beef. It was good too, as it was just bbq as it is.

daun (21)

daun (22)

Their ‘Jagung Bakar’ is always better then our local Malaysia version as they do season it a while in milk + their own sauce then spread with heavy butter and leave it a while there till the butter soak into the corn till its very aromatic .

It was quite a tiring journey as in a short span from 7.30pm – 1.30am we went to 4 places and the journey in between is not near. . .

When I look through what to do during at night in Bandung on the net, there are actually nothing much as I know that I have friends there that they will bring me to the best of the places that available in Bandung. Maja House at Bandung.  Of course different people like different kind of environment, one of the place that I came across that suggested by many people of its sunset view overlook a huge paddy field, then my friend told me that they will bring me to a new place which just operate last year which turns out to be one of their favourite hang out place.

Maja House which is located on the east side of West Java (if I am not mistaken) as the road travel to this area is nearby my homestay located at Dago area, it is only about 20-30 minutes ride from there. Actually the distance is near just that the road condition is not that good, that’s why it takes a while to reach a destination.

maha house (1)

A restaurant that located at the peak of the hill which there are not only 1 restaurant available, there are quite a number of restaurant around the area. Just that my friend told me this is more famous.

maha house (2)

When we reach, I was like… Woahhhh .. . so nice. .  it looks more like a huge mansion converted into a restaurant with hits multiple staircase to climb up that really force you a bit to exercise. 😀

maha house (3)

The first level that we come accross locate this very huge dining area that accomodate only a not many table at this huge space with lights brightly shine in the area.

maha house (4)

As we climb futher up, we reach the top level of the restaurant and I certainly agree 100% on this quote that ‘If a Man Keeps telling you He loves you over and Over again, Then Something is Wrong’. *Like

My jaw drop so big when I See the top level of the area. It is so hugeeeee and so comfy to be seated in this such great weather~ chill as on the night it was around 18 degree. . .. I was wearing short and t-shirt just perfect to my favourite weather.

maha house (5)

The have a huge long dining table area with sofa and on the back of this wall. . ..

maha house (6)

Located this huge seating area with sofa bed style along the strech at the end, which is perfect for people who do not like to be seated outdoor yet like a bit of wind, then here would just be perfect.

maha house (7)

Walked accross this mini bridge, we reach another huge area. . . .

maha house (8)

Reached this very nice wooden style bar, that makes me think of a game in Facebook how I decorated my bar to my likings. The bar tender was very nice and friendly.

maha house (9)

maha house (11)

Behind this wall, locate a huge dining area which is perfect to host private party that I think can accomodate up to 100 pax. . .  Then I choose to sit outdoor and want to soak myself into this sofa, enjoy this chill weather and my view and my crazy new friends .. .

maha house (10)

The view might not be so perfect but this place certainly is a blast~

maha house (13)

Food here is not cheap as you know, located up at the peak of the hill, you sure would expect to dip a little deeper into your wallet for such environment. The price range from ID10,000 to ID150,000. Depends on your order.

maha house (23)

First order was someone trying to go diet so they order salad. It was very green when it served, suprise with how it taste when they mix it all in.

maha house (24)

Comes next saled which is not much green, with meat of course, find that the meat is a bit soggy.

maha house (15)

This drink turns out a bit too sweet for me.

maha house (14)

Then here comes my drink, peanut milk shake, which is very thick in flavour and I quite like it. As I remember for the first time my best friend’s sister did it for me to drink. .. then I start to love this combination but some find it very filling.

maha house (22)

maha house (16)

Next is this Ribs, is highly recommended by me if you do dine here. Very soft till like the whole meat going to fall off from the bone just like that and it was well marinated and cook. I just wish the whole place there is more ribs instead of rice.

maha house (17)

‘Tenderloin Mozarella’ RP 56,500 Steak in medium well, was well prepared with more like a slice of cheese baked on top with its side gravy to dip along a bit of sour and bitter turns out to be quite unique.

maha house (18)

maha house (19)

‘Sup Buntot Goreng’ @ RP 47,500 is mild in taste and nothing much to boast about.

maha house (21)

this is one of a great desert to end with,’Green Tea Ice cream with deep fried sliced apple’ that comes in a set. The fried slices apple is to dip along with the smooth green tea ice cream that makes it a perfect combination.

maha house (20)

Indo Auntie and Malay Auntie . ..

maha house (27)

Here ends our first stop of the night and there are 2 more stops to go that has a very unique style of dining. Sure you will be impress. Wait and look out for more.

One thing I like about this mall is the F&B area located directly at the sidewalk which is so convinient and under their cool temperature, it is very ideal to sit outdoor.

I travel to Bandung last month and alot of my friends told me that town is not only famous for factory outlet is also a food paradise. I felt that there is like Penang where Bandung Street Food is also one of a must to do. Most of their hawker on the street are very nice. Simple just dip into one of the road side hawker then get the taste of it. Our first stop for the day while we were shopping at Dago area, we try out Durian Ice Cream which cost RM3.50 for a cup with durian meat in there.

A few scoop of ice cream. . .

street food 1 (3)

and add on their local brand Indomilk Susu Kental Manis Cokelat and carnation on the topings.

street food 1 (2)

The ice-cream is soft and it taste like the one I had when I was a kid, not too sweet and the durian meat flavour was not strong enough as I like. . .Overall its quite a good catch for RM3.50. . . You can just find it any where along most of the streets . ..

street food 1 (5)

As we walk further up nearby Citibank there are a few Warong located next to the bank and we were already very hungry as walk n shop the whole morning. . . try out de Robi Batagor with Kuah Kering. . .

The ingredient steam first then added their very own style of soup.

street food 1 (9)

street food 1 (10)

This is Baso Soup with Bee Hoon and Mee added. Added with lots of their chili to make the whole bowl spicy in taste. Just that this soup sold by this guy did not meet my expecatation.

street food 1 (11)

Then head to next area while we were shopping at House of Mode, Setiabudi area. . We try out ES Campur Special that added many ingredient inside like coconut, sago jelly, cincau, lychee and some others. To me, if it is less sweet abit then it would be perfect.

street food 1 (12)

Next to House of Mode, Batagor Riri is one of the stall that highly recommended by a few blogger from Indonesia. Batagor means (Fried Taufu) which is originate from Bandung and it had been so famous till spread to many places in Bandung.

street food 1 (13)

As the lady saw me doing some photoshoot, the offer let me take pic of the taufu before fried.

street food 1 (14)

This is after freshly fried and you must eat it while it is hot. Fried Taufu and Siew Mai squeeze with lime and a bit add on with the stall special chili, is just nice, crispy on the edge and the peanut sauce is thick and nice.

street food 1 (17)

Its is filled with half bowl of soup and chili sauce with another type of local special sauce to add in the kick of it and after mix it till all the chili coated onto the mee as what others do. . .The noodle is a bit springy and for a local taste like that I would say it taste pretty good for just ID 5000.

street food 1 (18)

Next to it Den Han Klappertaart is another one of a famous brand in Bandung.

This street snacks I had it at Setiabudi (next to House of Mode) . . .

Part 2 of street food is coming soon .. .

Bandung is like consider a shopping paradise where we can purchase alot of goods from. Most of the factory outlet there are filled with some genuine, some rejects and some fakes outlets. Of course it depends on your budget and the area that you are heading to. Bandung have 3 districts that are famous for shopping. As the place I am staying is called Dago, an area which is only 5 minutes walk out to this great factory outlet shopping district.

bandung shop

In the streets of Dago, located at downtown area is where this factory outlet are located. The first factory outlet that I went, Glamour already cost me 60% of my budget alocated for shopping. The clothing materil is good, the brand that I love Nudie Jeans which is a famous brand in Australia, is available in this outlet too, took us about 2 hours in this shop as its huge in there. Besides that, can get Polo, Paul Smith, Hugoboss, Ed Hardy, and many more at a cheap price, ranging from ID 45 000 – ID 500,000, which means as cheap from RM20-RM300.

bandung shop (2)

The whole streets have about 20 outlets here, so be prepare to get heavy damage here, do prepare alot of cash when you do come here, major credit cards are accepted too.

bandung shop (3)

In this area also do have Indonesia local designer too, which is about 15 minutes walk from here.

IMG_0083

Next destination we went for shopping was highly recommended by my friend is Setiabudi area that is filled with alot of branded factory outlet and one of the famous one in the area that shall not miss is ‘Ruman Mode’ which host alot of international branded brands with some of them are rejects.

bandung shop (5)

Its more like a open concept area and it might look nobody outside but inside the factory outlet, its filled with LOTS of people. They have cafe and Javanese coffee is available here too, besides this the first shop we went in sell LV, Gucci bags with very reasonable price.

This is the 2nd area that I got totally broke for my first day of shopping. Just took me half a day to spend all my money.

bandung shop (4)

The outlet is located at the streets of  41 Jalan. Dr. Setiabudi. All taxi driver SURE know this place.
