Continuing on my last trip at Bangkok, the last night itself we wanted to visit some sky bar in the city itself as I have seen many bloggers went to many nice sky bar that available in Bangkok. Then told Goft about it and she mention to us that she will be bringing us to this Red Sky Bar which is located in Centara Grand Hotel in Central World.

Red Sky (3)

As you head upon the bar you need to do a lift transfer as you need to head to the lobby floor then change lift to head up to level 55 whereby the RedSky Bar is. Love the hotel lobby as it feels so luxury to walk in and all of us were greeted by the friendly staff there.

Red Sky (4)

Ding Ding, here we are upon reaching the highest floor of the hotel at level Fifty Five.

Red Sky (5)

Welcome to Red Sky Bar, a bar which is located on the 3rd highest building in Thailand and from the 55th floor itself with 360 degree view accross Bangkok City.

Red Sky (6)

Here are the details of the bar. .

Red Sky (7)

Red Sky (8)

The bar offer relaxing ambiance that filled with jazz band, a perfect interior whereby you can bring your love ones to this place for special occasions.

Red Sky (9)

This would be their private function room covers with huge curtains that make it a total private space for you and your friends that totally no one can look thru it whereby the table will be facing with magnificent view of the city itself.

Red Sky (18)

The careful consideration from the bar also offer a single seater area for people who just love being a long for a moment  ..

Red Sky (10)

The place are pretty pack for Friday night and many people came here just to chat or hang out.

Red Sky (11)

The bar is serve full range of spirits, wines, champagnes, cocktails and beers along with happy hours between 5pm and 7 pm. Get to know that it is one of the popular time with many locals on that time to catch the nice sunset.

Red Sky (12)

Live Jazz from 7.15pm – 11.30pm daily.

Red Sky (13)

Too bad that we cant be seated outside that night as it was raining quite heavily and sad to enjoy a perfect view of the city from last night itself.

Red Sky (14)

I manage to take a few pictures from the top how it looks like ..

Red Sky (15)

Then heading back where we are seated, as for the night we were super full, so we opted to drink wine for the night.

Red Sky (16)

Nancy and Goft

Red Sky (17)

Me enjoying the drinks, companion of my best friends and the ambiance~

Red Sky (19)

Red Sky (20)

Before we left they are all busying taking pictures of the well lighted wall that fully decorated with wine bottles which is quite impressive.

Red Sky (23)

This is the new international airport of Bangkok and some predict that it will be one of the busiest airport in Southeast Asia ..

Red Sky (25)

The airport is quite huge and offers quite a good range of mix retailing in the duty free center.

Heading to Day 3, we woke up early in the morning and arrange a driver to pick us up and start our journey to Pattaya. Its actually a trip that takes about 2 n half hours from Bangkok city. As on the way, Goft did told me that we MUST and MUST drop by at this french bakery – La Baguette French Bakery that serve superb food that she never fails to drop by whenever she heads there.

La Bouget (1)

Okay.. What is so special about this shop?  La Baguette is actually a french bakery that serve many types of bread, pastries, deserts and not to miss their signature crepes. Open its door to public in year 2003 and there is where they have started to increase their popularity among locals and foreigners. Its a special place with unique design and very nice ambiance that just makes you want to stick in this shop longer.

La Bouget (2)

When you walk into the shop, there will be a ice cream bell ringing on the door then you will be greated with a smile by their friendly staff. The whole shop is painted fairly white with the shine of the early sun into the shop makes it even brighter. Menu on the ceiling are fitted with chalkboard style  with menu nicely printed on it.

La Bouget (3)

The whole shop was nicely decorated and it certainly blend in perfectly to give you the feel its a french bakery shop.

La Bouget (5)

Most of us are very excited as for the first time, we come into a french bakery shop and we love the ambiance and interior design alot. Very simple and cozy, making us walk around and busy hunting food at the menu and some of us busy camwhore around the cafe.

La Bouget (4)

Its divided into 2 sections, one is bakery and pastries and another side is deserts, crepes and gelato.

La Bouget (6)

This is what Goft told us that must not miss. Their signature crepes.

La Bouget (7)

and just look at the pastries and desert fridge, its fill with lots of selection and I just stare them for quite a while, too bad it was in early morning that I do not have appetite for these, if it were after lunch, I think I am going to force my friend to at least try 1/3 of the fridge.

La Bouget (8)

It was pretty pack in the morning and people just don wait for their seats even though we came first, they tend to go after what is available table to them. Then only I told the waitress that we came first only she advice another family on the issue.

La Bouget (10)

I like the setting of the cafe, that filled with book classic wooden shelf, small wooden table and chairs with old clock on the wall, huge 3 seater sofa at a corner and some huge single seater sofa, makes it very French ambiance.

La Bouget (11)

La Bouget (12)

This is how the three of them sunk their ass on the cosy sofa till don want to move their butt.

La Bouget (13)

Annie busy taking pictures with her new camera.

After having our expensive Americian breakfast at Dean & Deluca (click here)  as we were still early to head for our shopping, then Goft suggested to enjoy Bangkok most famous river cruise at Chao Praya River that transport alot people across or along the river for work or to another tourist destination.

Reading some website, this river is one of a legendary river which rate as ‘Venice of the East’ that makes it one of a good way to explore Bangkok City by boat service along the river.

river (1)

So we took Sky Train from our hotel and stop at this Station called Saphan Taksin

river (2)

Whereby at the jetty name called Sathorn. As this place is near to alot of hotel, you can see alot of tourist flocking this area to take this boat ride.

river (3)

There are 3 types of service available which is one are meant for tourist, and comes with English speaker on board to explain for you where are you heading and some history of the places that you are stopping, which are more meant for tourist, best if you plan to do hopping around, you can get their One Day Pass at only 150Bhat which is more worth it compare to pay for single stop.

Then there are a few other types of services that you can rent for private use, with speed boat that jet up and down pretty quickly at different rates which of course more expensive.

Or lastly, if you like free and easy, can be like us because I have my friend as she introduce all the places for us, we took the PUBLIC boat that cost very little per person, if I am not mistaken is around 30-50 bhat per stop.

for more info and services you can check out this website i found out: http://bangkok.sawadee.com/canals.htm

river (4)

Our Jaw Drop when we saw the colour of the river as its like ‘Teh Tarik Kau Kau’ colour. So brownish and the river is flowing so fast. We were wondering if we ever fell into the river, will we drown and I think can easily reach another jetty by its strong fast current.

As for the lovely weather today as its so sunny and what ever pic I took just makes it so sharp. . .

river (5)

river (6)

One thing I like about the public boat is that, they use conductor which I have not seen a conductor for very long time already with this manual and coin ticketing system by this lady.

river (7)

You pay her, then she will tear you a ticket. . . must keep the ticket as on and off they will do spot check as to ensure all on board paid for their ride. If not you will be thrown out by the boat man into the river (just joking) as my friend told me there are quite alot people trying to avoid paying.

river (8)

river (9)

As this is how pack the public boat is and the lady shout at us at Thai language where most of us do not understand cuz on that day on our ride, there are quite a lot tourist and my friend told me, if you were to ride on public boat, the CONS are you cannot just stand and park there at the nice window view, as you are obstructing other public people coming in. So once you have been shove into the middle area like where I took my picture, you will miss out all the nice scenery.

river (10)

Then me taking some landscape shot as along the river.

river (11)

This is how the speed boat looks like as they are up to hire anytime.

river (12)

river (13)

So public ride will stop most of the available stop for people hopping in and out.

river (14)

Then if you stay a hotel at the river bank, they have their own boat services for you to get you across or you can arrange with the hotel which area you want to head to, then they will arrange with the boatman to transport you to that location. Most of the hotel along this river bank are 4-5 star hotel.

river (15)

river (16)

river (17)

river (18)

There are even some people live at the river bank .. .

river (19)

This is how strong and fast the current is for that day.

river (20)

river (21)

As we had too heavy breakfast and some of our food could not finish, then not to waste it, we were brought to this jetty, TEWET to feed the fish, as this jetty is also famous for one of the superstitious believe. If you have bad luck or omen, like bad health, need more wealth, then some of the locals head here to purchase some of the creature then given a piece of paper and pray according ly, lastly release it back to real life, to make it smooth ahead for future.

river (28)

river (22)

some of the locals selling bread and its very cheap to buy one big bag, to feed the fish.

river (23)

For us, the fish is lucky today as we are feeding them with our left over high class breakfast. 😀

river (24)

I can tell, you the fish here are big! The locals also believe another thing that, if you do catch fish nearby the temple along this river, you will be curse, either fall sick or something bad will happen to you.

river (25)

river (26)

this is one of the boat transport offer by the hotels.

river (27)

river (29)

As you walk further up a bit then you will get to see the locals selling tortoise, eel, birds and a few more other things as it depends on what you want to wish for then they prepare what creature for you to release.

river (30)

while waiting for our boat to come, then I get a chance to see what are the locals actually doing.

river (31)

As they do a praying first by saying in their heart with the words from the paper, then next they just pour it to the river and let the bad thing wash away.

If I do say anything wrong, please do correct me. Thank you.

river (32)

As we were heading back to our destination where we board on our boat, now we see another side of the river which is more interesting this round . . .

river (33)

If you do  have time, visit this temple which is made of porcelain if I am not mistaken.

river (34)

river (35)

To spend some sightseeing and stopping by a few stops, I would suggest that you will need to spend about half a day here to enjoy the fullest and make use of the river.

river (36)

Time is just perfect when we reach back the jetty to start our shopping galore at Bangkok. Catch up next post for shopping area in Bangkok.

I have been waiting this trip very suffering because for the past 8 months, I see quite a number of my friends keep check in some where in Thailand especially Bangkok. bangkok trip part 1 (4)

The airport is filled with modern design and its huge, that if you walk from one end to another end is 1 km long, which I did when I flew back to Malaysia that time and walk around their duty free area. Freaking long!

the airport is just 25 km away from Bangkok city that makes it very convenient with their new express train system which just operated few months back as now with special fare promo till end of OCT they only charge 90 bhat for a single trip which is only RM 9 per way (express ride non stop) direct skip 6 stations and stop at Phetchaburi station.

bangkok trip part 1 (5)

Then my friend Golf had arrange all the ground arrangement for me which I felt so bad that she is so busy yet help me to arrange all this, and she manage to help me book a superb hotel located in downtown business district, directly infront of BTS Skytrain Chong Nonsi Station is this i-Residence Hotel at Silom District. also 3 stations away from the shopping area Siam station.

i-Residence website: iresidencehotel.com/
