I think nowdays we are not only spoilt on food choices, we are also spoilt on beer choices, with so many new imported beers coming into Malaysia shores surely we can now enjoy our happy our with more choices. One of the new beer launch I went that I went was this French beer Kronenbourg, then now the latest addition under Carlsberg family is this new Belgium Beer, Grimbergen beer.

This new beer launch at one of my favourite bar, Brussels Beer Cafe at Menara Hap Seng

By far any beer, this is one of the oldest beer that I had come accross so far, even must more older than Guinness which this beer started way way back since 1128 and the history started when St. Norbert founded the Abbey of Grimbergen in the village of Grimbergen near Brussels in Belgium. The Abbey’s Norbertine Fathers helped those in need, primarily by offering food, drink and shelter to passing pilgrims. The area surrounding the Abbey produced hops and barley of the highest quality over a number of years the Father’s perfected a range of Grimbergen recipes that were eagerly drunk by patrons of the inn attached to the Abbey.

The license to brew and distribute the Grimbergen brand was acquired by The Carlsberg Group as a part of the Scottish and Newcastle acquisition.

The drink also were accompanied by some of great food prepared by Chef Jochen Kern (Director of Cullinary Art of Berjaya School of Hospitality KL). The foods were created with Grimbergen beers infused which goes along very well with the beer.

Now, the license to brew and distribute the Grimbergen brand was acquired by The Carlsberg Group as a part of the Scottish and Newcastle acquisition and had bought over this brand to our local Malaysia market. This briing us another premium beer and unique taste of its own, and seriously one of a beer I would go after if even more if offer draft as for now they are available in bottles only. . . with its smoothness bubbly foam that sunk down makes the clear yet a bit thick on the top of the beer, then the took first sip, its soo smooth, and after taste of it a bit bitter sweet fruty taste. Its very smooth then I took big sip like how I usually drink my Guinness, indeed its good~

Besides beer, we were pamperd with Master Chef from Germany specially created this dish, “Baked Mussels with Grimbergen Infused Cream & Cheese Sauce Topped with Shredded Bacon”

The mussels were really good, well coated with cream cheeze and the bacon is abit salty to blend in well with the cheeze then take a sip with the beer

Pork sausage, meat balls in cameralized onion sauce, calamari rings and chips platter which is a good companion for my glass of beer for the night.

Followed by warmly prepared a Roast Pork with the crispy part a bit salty and fats just evenly spread out, soft on the top part and a bit chewy on the meat is just how I like it .. The sald turns out to be good too, as me and Marky are fighing for that small portion

Then come this ‘Sausage Platter’ with mustard sauce. . .How could I resist it. .

All of us just enjoy this beer, I think we had at least 3 bottles each, and their beer bottle is not normal beer bottle, i think can pour for 3-4 glasses of what we holding. . with seriously beer lover – Marcky, Master Chef, Me and Esther.

Me, Joshua Ong, Esther and Marky with his trademark hamsap face. . .

Another great night for all of us to hang out, chill, enjoy every sip of it . .

Mid Valley or The Gardens shopping mall is one of the places that most people hang around and shop, but when it comes to food, this mall also do offer a huge range of food and there are a few famous one too, one of it would be Ko Hyang, that it had a few months I had read in blog about this place, many bloggers mention about how good the food here.

It was not until recently I drop by and decided to give it a try.

Kho HYang

It was the usual, that its always packed with people to wait on this small little stall, that is owned by Koreans.

Kho HYang (2)

One of the drinks that I enjoy when comes to Korean food which is ‘Sik Hye’ that I called it barley in korean style, some people might not like it but I do enjoy this drink alot of its taste wise. RM 3.80

Kho HYang (4)

Usually you eat in big restaurant or small restaurant you will be given appetizer first, just that restaurant have huge range of it and can refill.

Kho HYang (5)

One of the thing that I seldom miss is to keep trying out on ‘Pancake’ RM9.80. It was completely cook with the edge are crispy but it still had strong taste of flour in it, by dipping the with the sauce a bit only can eliminate the taste of it. I would say, I had better ones before.

Kho HYang (6)

Kho HYang (7)

One of the normal dish to choose that not to go wrong is their ‘Ji Gye’ RM14.90. Spicy in taste that the expecatation is there and its always cook with taufu.

Kho HYang (9)

‘Bul go Gi’ is one of my favorite in Korean range, although the beef texture been cook very well, just that if the taste wise been improve or they do have spicy range, it would taste even better.

Kho HYang (10)

This set is price at RM16.90

For me, I think my taste is different from others or the food that day it tasted so so only with different chef or people preparing it.-= Ka Ching =-

Fish Farm Thai Restaurant During New Year Eve, whole group of my best friend came down to KL to celebrate and then since they started to know I blog about food and they had arrange the dinner to be somewhere unique and dalam dalam. When they told me about the location of the restaurant I ponder a while, keep recalling what are they talking about and Google through it, there are a few bloggers mention about this place most of them without address. When got the address from them I was like haaaaa…middle of nowhere. On the way there, it took me a few guessing and turning before reaching this place and only I realize that, Ampang Lookout Point is just there. (then only I realise that, the recent outing of Thai food seems to have unique locations and ambience)

Vegie Fish Farm

If you head from Ampang, you will pass through Lookout Point and proceed further down around 500m-800m, on your right you will see this small gate. That is where to turn in which is a private property. Then will have to drive through about 5 mins with the rocky and non tar road up and downhill till you reach this very huge parking space and farms around.

Vegie Fish Farm (2)

This is how the location of the Thai restaurant looks like, build with wood planks above the ponds that filled with fish Koi. If you have phobia of the wood planks broke then you can be seated on this very hard solid ground.

Vegie Fish Farm (3)

It looked like a mini village and its sure impressive when I saw it.

Vegie Fish Farm (4)

The place that where they prepare the desert.

Vegie Fish Farm (5)

Vegie Fish Farm (6)

As I am the last one to reach, I got punish with this glass. I thought it was Barley but to my surprise that when I about to drink it, it smells so weird and the first sip, my face smirk till cant event see my eyes. It taste so awful and only learn that it is ‘Tody’ which is known as alcoholic drinks from coconut. This cup of drink definately not my type but my friend enjoys it alot. Small-RM 5

Vegie Fish Farm (7)

Vegie Fish Farm (12)

This is the star of the night ‘Deep Fried Telapia’ which had been deep fried with very very hot oil that make the skin very crispy and it the taste of the salty skin then you pull of some of the fish meat to dip with the garlic sour chili sauce given it taste good. RM30

Vegie Fish Farm (15)

After read a few post on history as this restaurant at Singapore which alot people recommending not to be miss. . As for Malaysians now, need not have to travel so far to enjoy such a beer that Craft Brews is a Non-Halal Restaurant is the latest addtion to our very local F & B market that all of us can enjoy their special brew beers by locating themselves one of the prime location in Mutiara Damansara.

Craft Brew

Craft Brew (2)

Love their, dim lighting, modern contemporary style yet setting off a soft music on the background had put this place into my list for gathering and hang outs also love their waiter and waitress outfit.

Craft Brew (3)

One of the special beer brew from Singapore that serve on tab along with Monster Green Lager and English Ale.

Craft Brew (4)

At this bar area, you will see pipes pressure gauges and levers around the bar area design with international microbrewery look.

Craft Brew (5)

Craft Brew (6)

Yet we get a warm welcome with a box and a letter that contains our names and a few small packets teaching us how to brew our very own beer.

Craft Brew (7)

Wide range of drinks to select from and to be enjoy.

Craft Brew (8)

When I walked to this area, I got very surprise to see a beer in GREEN COLOUR? This would be my very first encounter and that is the beer that I must try first. The beer starts with (from right to left) Czech Pilsner, English Ale, Monster Green Lagger, Weizen (wheat beer).
Ended up my favourite of the night was Czech Pilsner and Monster Green Lager. Love the smoothness and the barley and wheat boil brew of the taste individually.

Craft Brew (9)

Everyone hit on the food which looks finger licking good.

Craft Brew (10)

Craft Brew (11)

‘Honey Mustard Ribs’ as I used to hate mustard years ago and now I have learn how to enjoy the taste of it. With a bit of honey sweetness that had been grill till the honey had soak into the ribs yet mustard seasoning which is a bit sour just combines both of the flavor very well as I am swallowing my saliva while looking at this pic recalling the taste.

Craft Brew (12)

Craft Brew (13)

Follow by ‘Mex-Tex Ribs’, juicy and succulent yet soft from the inside out with the seasoning that grill on the grill er is something we just do not want to miss out. I clean the ribs solid clean till the bone got dry after left a while on the plate.

Craft Brew (14)

After some chatting, eating and drinking, we are on to our Beer lesson. How do we enjoy our beer to the best.

Craft Brew (15)

All of us looking so serious and paying attention to our class.

Craft Brew (16)

One of the lesson is how do you enjoy the ‘Monster Green Lager‘ the best taste of it, is to eat along with a piece of bacon, that the saltiness that add in a layer on your tongue yet you drink with he smoothness, aromatic beer that wash away with the saltiness on the tongue add in extra kick on it. Its like red wine with steaks.
It was a great experience with Craft Brews with great food and beers. Surely I would return for their food as the price range is kinda reasonable and of course all credits to Hsu Jen for the special invites.

Last weekend were shopping around then thought of eating Penang food and always go to Little Penang Café, then I just remembered on whose blog that I have read, giving good review on this restaurant, so fast fast ask them change place to Gurney Drive.

When I reached there, I am quite surprise to see the crowd as it is not many. Can count with your 5 fingers but then what the heck, just trust that person’s taste. Never try never know!

They also bring in the ‘Beca’ to add in more feel on it.

This is what I mean, seriously not many people. The were like only 4-6 stalls operating ~

Just love the cover of the menu. Take closed up, makes you feel like you are row row row your boat.
Then the manager came by to greet us and also to take up our order. The best part is, he also know how to speak HOKKIEN. Kaki lang ah~ friendly person~
As usual, drink order first, so I decided to order the special promo drink of the day. ‘Barley Ice’ RM 1 (usual price RM3.80). Just by looking at it is just a mere normal bali ais loh~ but when I get to drink it that time, I am just falling in love with the drink. Not sweet, rich with barley taste which I like it thick compare the one offer in the kopitiam which is quite diluted or sweet. Highly Recommend!

Penang food, which one of the famous food to crave for is ‘Penang Rojak’. The ‘Hae Ko’ just feel that it is lacking of some taste. Although the paste is quite sticky and thick but couldn’t tell what is it missing to make the extra umph in it~RM8.80

This ‘Loh Bak Set Big’ was this highly recommended by a blogger(which I forgot whom). The har peng is goring to crispy, which is very nice, loh bak – is rich with filling, when you even pick it up the compactness of the meat wouldn’t fall off easily. Goreng perfectly which doesn’t makes the skin over goring. Taufu and egg noting much to comment about as it taste normal. With the price RM16 which I thought pretty expensive, but turn out to be reasonable with the quality they are serving.

Usual hawker food which normally ppl wont miss is the ‘Char Koey Teow’. I was abit disappointed when it got served because of the portion. I said, fine dining meh~…plate so big, portion so small, then my friend kacau me, want me to take soy sauce and sambal to help you conteng to look more perfect boh… ??

But after trying out, you will be surprise of the taste. It was fried to perfect, with the wok hei is there, quite dry and spiciness lvl just ngam.. We had not enough of it. Just finish within seconds. Highly Recommended! RM8.80

As I always never miss one of my favourite ‘Curry Mee’, before with the chili paste was put in, the taste of the soup is pretty pale, and santan taste is just abit.

After putting in a spoonful of chili paste, the whole bowl had turn to fiery red and it is not even spicy at all, just the colour but the taste had changed. It taste much better but still not the best. RM 8.80

Next item not to be miss ‘Hokkien Mee’. The soup is quite rich in taste which is the most important thing in prawn mee. They gave generous amount of mee and bee hoon. It also comes with a few big pieces of prawns. With the charges of RM8.80 is pretty decent.

One of Penang signature is ‘Penang Laksa’. Turns out to be not the best of all. The soup is quite clear, not rich in taste and fish chunks or fish blended that mix in the soup. It wasn’t serve very warm. By adding in prawn paste just makes it taste weirder. Charging at RM8.80

When comes to Penang desert, ‘Ice Kacang’ would consider as one of the item must try out or order. In this restaurant, I would say just thumbs up for this. We seriously enjoy salivating it. Hard to come across a nice ice kacang which the most important is the ice was blended very soft. Perfectly on it. Overall, wasnt too sweet on it, just a great desert to close the meal with. Highly Recommended RM3.80 ONLY.
Next would be the ‘Teow Chew Cendol’. Again, the ice is soft, the gula melaka is not too sweet or they have just put the right amount on it and the santan feels like eating fresh. The coconut taste is there. I would just say, gone within 60 seconds. Also charge at RM 3.80
Overall, we are very satisfied with the food that they offer here which I feel it taste much better compare to Little Penang Cafe. Was just wondering after that, why the food is so nice, yet the ppl is so little. The pricing which I find it reasonable with the quality of food they are serving. Would surely come for second round.
Remarks:
Just feel that, they don have a QC in Char Koey Teow which we order the second plate, it doesnt taste nice at all compare to the first plate and also the amout of time we have waited is more than 20 minutes which we believe we are the only table ordering extra. Maybe the chef go and tangkap si ham.
