3 Malaysian Bartenders Win into #HennessyMyWay 2022 challenge Global Top 40

With over 500 entries across the globe, Hennessy has narrowed down their search for the world’s best sustainable cocktail. The world’s bestselling cognac has just announced the Global Top 40 winners in the #HennessyMyWay 2022 challenge. The cocktail challenge saw three Malaysians as among the Global Top 40 winning bartenders.

The global challenge is Hennessy’s third installment of the competition which encourages bartenders to be inspired by Hennessy to push their creativity to the limit. This year calls on bartenders across the world to create their version of a sustainable cocktail using Hennessy.

“Every year the standard of the talent pool in Malaysia seems to be raised even higher. Beacons of the Malaysian bartending scene, Thanesh Joel (of Backdoor Bodega), Rolend Ten (also of Backdoor Bodega) and Chloe Tan (of Cabinet 8 by JWC) were commended for their strong understanding of ritual and role it plays in a great cocktail experience while demonstrating great ability to integrate sustainable practices in their expressive cocktails.

In demonstrating such exceptional skill the trio have earned a place in the Global Top 40, joining other bartenders from countries including Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Other ASEAN winners included one each from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, putting Malaysia firmly ahead in this region.

“It’s exciting to see how our Malaysian bartenders compete on the global stage. To have not just one but three winners, the highest number of winners from a single country in South East Asia, is a testament to why we must continue to nurture the local talent to their full potential,” adds Charrier.

The Global Top 40 winners will each receive a cash prize of 1000 EURO and 1 bottle of Hennessy X.O. The cash prize is in addition to the 200 EURO received for winning the Malaysia Top 10 challenge round. The Global Top 40 winners will also move into the final challenge round to compete for a spot in the elusive Global Top 5. On this level, they will stand a chance to win another 2000 EURO each, and their choice of either a Hennessy Experience in Cognac or a VIP NBA Experience.

The winners are among Malaysia’s Top 10 whose entries were submitted for the global challenge with three cocktail creations out of the 10 being further selected as the Global Top 40. The judging was done by The Maison Hennessy in Cognac, France, by a panel including Hennessy Global Ambassador Jordan Bushell.

Cocktail lovers can also taste the Malaysia Top 10 winning cocktails at the respective bars as part of the Hennessy Cocktail Trail:

Drinking Asahi @ Carlsberg Brewery

The Asahi event kicked off last week at the Carlsberg Brewery and upon arrival we were greeted by Mr.Asahi the robot~

I believe many of you have not met Mr.Asahi, the World’s First Ultra Robotic Bartender which can serve a lot more than a normal bartender can at a time. He is capable of opening bottles and pulling 300ml pints and can, serve up to 16 half pints or bottles at a time in less than 2 minutes.

Asahi is a very well known brand in Japan and Asahi Super Dry is now available here, brewed exclusively by Carlsberg Malaysia in Shah Alam.

Before the event started, those who came early were lucky enough to catch the Brewery Tour. But that was just the beginning of an eventful night!

And of course, what better way is there to start off the night than to have a pint of Asahi Super Dry fresh from the tap.

It is brewed with a unique karakuchi style to give a clean, crisp & refreshing taste with no bitterness at the end.

The event officially kicked off with a welcoming speech from the gorgeous Emcee.

After everyone had their meals and were all ready with a pint in hand, the first round of performance by the Asahi dancers performance started and it was pretty impressive!

All of us cheered for him . . His dance moves were pretty good too, which I think is definitely better than mine. (click here, my previous Asahi post with my robot dance video)

Jackie won himself a prize too along with all the other participants. It might look easy to dance but it’s actually really tough as this dance move takes up a lot of body energy, and is challenging yet interesting. Groovey~

Last but not least, here’s a picture of the great people behind Nuffnang. Great to see some of them there 🙂

Before we left, we were given a special door gift containing a can of Asahi, a coaster as well as their really cool signature glass.

For the past few weeks, many bloggers had blogged about this exclusive invites to  Johnnie Walker’s Black Circuit Lounge which the location had been kept secret till the day itself I check my email on the location. Arrive at the location and the main entrance was already packed with lots of crowd. .. Johnnie Walker’s Black

with exclusive car Porche being decorated into Black Lable,  being parked infront of the area . . ..

8 lane entry to the pit lounge. . .

Lets Step inside the Black Circuit Longue see what it has to offer. . .

With lots of alcohol being flow all night long . ..

Then we try out a mixture from World Class Raising the Bar Chong Yi Shawn a worldclass bartender . .

that come out with this 2 flavour. . taste super good. . .didnt know that the mixture blend so well . .

Given black lable pendent were given as a door gift. . .

The night was electrify by great DJ line up by Johnnie Walker with DJ Faith, DVDJ I-Tek, half way thru,  Lewis Hamilton gave a speech  . . . . Superstar mix-vixen DJ Sophia Lin really did not dissapoint us with her mixing and Tokyo’s DJ Bento  .. . .

It was a great night to hang out with all my friends with free flow of Johnnie Walker. . I am looking forward for the future 1. .
