Beef Slices

Browsing

In the city, there are actually lots of things to eat. There are one street in particular that pretty well know for a lot of beef noodles. It really depends on your taste preference as many of them love this stall, Lai Foong Beef Noodle that located in Jalan Tun H.S Lee that operate inside a kopitiam called Kedai Kopi Lai Foong. There is one opposite too that some of my friends prefer over that stall.

For this stall, it had been ages since I last visited this place and few years back I was firstly introduce to it as my ex company boss love this stall alot and the secretary have to drive all the way down here to make a take away for him.

I was also told that not to miss their Char Koey Teow and I tried ordering using Hokkien and obviously they don really udnerstand me. Means not Penang Char Koey Teow but the next stall auntie is surely from Penang that sells Jawa mee and stuff. Would try that next round.

lai hong (4)

Beef noodle here are pretty good as you stand nearby the stall you can smell the aroma of the beef noodle soup already. Imagine how many times those beef slices have to dip into the soup to make it cook and towards noon, the soup will be thick enough to make it extra kick.

lai hong (5)

You can actually choose your ingredient. Of course mine, I would love it to have a good mixture with alot of other spare parts.

lai hong (6)

this is what I mean the soup is pretty sweet and aromatic with bones and meat are being boiled along./

here is my bowl of slice beef noodle that some Louise & Anna order.

lai hong (9)

Their Beef balls is a must order. Springy and a bit solid that good enough to chew. I finish half of it. Hehe~

lai hong (11)

Here is my bowl of beef noodle. A good mixture. .

lai hong (12)

I have always love mine with a good mix. We were there around 11.30 am and the soup is strong and aromatic. You can even taste some spices that they have added in there. Beef Slices are good, done medium then let the hot soup make it cook. For an early weekend morning to have this, its sure satisfying. One of a good bowl of beef noodle soup in KL.

If you are new here for the first time, do give it a try~ Parking there is a big issue. You can consider park at Central Market then walk over.

A new discovery by my friend last round and they are so keen to bring me to this place that they said its one of the best for beef soup so far and before I fly back to KL we stop by this shop to have our dinner. Kang Beef House is easy to be located as its located nearby the junction of the triangular in Jelutong heading towards Perak Road on the left side.

Kang (1)

Upon walking into the shop near to this little stall, you can smell the fragrance of the soup trailing into the air that makes me instantly hungry and looking forward.

Kang (2)

Kang (3)

not only famous for their beef noodle, also famous for their Beef Steamboat which I would surely come back next round to try it out.

Kang (4)

The outlet is semi air condition as they use alot of chilling fan.

Kang (5)

Price here are very reasonable for a bowl of beef noodle.

Kang (6)

Ordered Crispy Beef Balls @ RM 5 which is quite normal & Deep Fried Beef Lobak with their own special seasoning and eat with chili is something good to kick start with @ RM 5

Kang (7)

Beef Noodle soup with all ingredients added in, from beef slices, beef cubes, beef balls and all other spare part. The soup is thick in flavour, very aromatic and little herbal light taste on the end and love the taste of radish sweet taste. – Recommended~

Kang (8)

Crystal Beef Fried Rice @ RM12.80 is something very unique. I mention unique as with the wording crystal and they actually fried something out with every bite is very crispy with very small tiny cube of crisp. Beef slice is soft and the rice fried with wok hei.

Kang (9)

Claypot Beef Soup @ RM 15 for 2 person with a mixture of beef slices and tendon. Love the soup as its more peppery spicy base with chili padi end that makes it very umph! – Recommended!

Kang (10)

Black Pepper Beef @ RM 15  small  is fried to perfection that the beef slice still soft and not over cook and black pepper sauce all well coated onto the beef slice.

Surely, this is one of the place to hunt for if you love beef noodle soup or steamboat to kill for. Will be back.

Tropicana is one of my favourite mall for movies based on convinience in parking, much less people and cheaper by 10%. One of the reason its nearer to my house and office. Well, there are actually some eatery in Tropicana that serve pretty decent food that I small little shop that I have dine pretty often is Tuan Yuen that serve Taiwanese food at Lower Ground, same area as Tea Chansii or Carrefour Level.

[UPdate – No Longer in Operation]

Bare in mind that Taiwanese food are mild in taste, not as heavy taste as our local food.

Taiwan (1)

This little shop is a small family business that operate by both the ‘tau keh so’ and her son along with 2 worker. The owner herself is from Taiwan that had migrated to Malaysia and starting up this business to promote Taiwanese food. Since I came back from Taiwan, this is something that is quite near to Taiwan food taste and sadly to say she is tweaking the taste to suits our local taste bud.

Taiwan (2)

Price is pretty decent that starts from RM7.50 and quite a huge range of Taiwanese food that you can choose from.

Taiwan (3)

One of my favourite is the dumpling that you must order, Me and ken love it alot as we find its pretty similiar to Taiwan. Something simple to start off with.

Taiwan (4)

Taiwanese sausage is pretty simple and direct whereby you can eat it in most of the night market . . .

Taiwan (5)

Taiwanese Style Extra spicy Beef Rice @ RM 11.90

Taiwan (6)

One of their signature is this Big Meal Beef Noodle, Extra Spicy @ RM 11.90 that I often order. Colour of the soup gives you the impresion that its not spicy and after a few sips of the soup, it will make your tongue numb as, spiciness are more towards Szechuan style. Loving it~ noodle are not cook consistant as it is suppose to be smooth and thin while eating and it have to depends on who cook it. If cook by both the owner or the son it taste good, and if its the worker, it would be usually overcook.

Beef slices are soft and goes well with noodle. They do prepare tissue for you on the table for you to wipe your sweat off. :D, Those who could not take spicy dish, it is not adviseable to order this, or maybe you can request the owner to toned it down for you.

Another thing that its a must order in here is their Winter Melon Tea. One of the best by far that I often came here to make a take away. I personally feel that it beats any of the bubble milk tea shop out there.

One of my personal fav Taiwanese shop.

I have been hearing this famous Nasi Kandar Beratur for very long time, that every time that I passby that area I will tell myself must go eat but always ended up in Nasi Kandar Line Clear which is my all time favourite.

On that night that I arrive back in Penang, we directly head to this place as I was inform that they have the most authentic curry that use all spices available to cook on it. The difference compare to the rest of the Nasi Kandar is the spices aroma in the curry, not really spicy but aromatic.

beratur (1)

With the name itself Beratur (Lining Up) you sure do have to wait for your turn to arrive, as on that night we were lucky that the line took us mere 5 minutes, sometimes you have to wait as long as 30 minutes to an hour.

beratur (2)

beratur (3)

Of course they sure do have some of their dishes would be their signature order,

beratur (4)

beratur (5)

Not many places now that still use coconut shell to take the rice.

beratur (6)

After putting the white rice on the plate its your turn to hunt down your favourite dish that is available on the couter.

beratur (7)

beratur (8)

Of course I love my plate of Nasi Kandar to be very Banjir (flood with gravy) especially a mixture of all the available gravy on the counter. This plate order is with Beef slices, Ladies finger and Telur Bawang. The best of all is the beef which is very soft and the gravy that soak along in it is kick ahh!

beratur (9)

My plate is beef slice, telur bawang and ayam madu. Total damage for both plate is less than RM12 and if it is in KL definately more than that.

Its still worth a try as its famous for its authentic spices used in to cook the curry, but I still prefer Line Clear. After this hunt, I have heard another upcoming best nasi Kandar some where in Jelutong. Will be my next destination!

Plz Note: Different people always got different pricing in this stall, especially tourist might get rip off, so always ask for pricing before you take any!!

Last week, my colleague introduces me to this place where they often have their lunch around this area. They visited this place Yang Kee Beef Noodle quite often and the price charge is quite reasonable. One of their famous signature dish is the Beef Noodle and upon that, what I read from a few bloggers that, ‘Yong Tau Fu’ is also one of their specialties that sell very fast.

I was there during lunch time and expected to wait a while as the crowd starts to pour in, then when comes to ordering, I would always prefer beef noodle in soup version as that’s the best way to test on it with strong sweet aromatic soup base is the best, then my colleague help me to order and recommended to go for their egg noodle as its freshly made.

yang kee (2)

‘Mixed Soup Beef Noodle’ @ RM4.30 for small and RM4.80 for large

My bowl of mixed soup beef egg noodle, that tastes quite different from Penang’s taste, as the egg noodle is definitely a great recommendation, that it is fine and quite springy while eating it, soup base is a bit thick that serve along with beef ball, beef slices and some of other beef spare parts. Its not bad, but I still prefer Penang’s version.

yang kee (3)

‘Stewed Beef Brisket with Radish’ had been stewed for quite some time, but I prefer the meat to be softer a bit as if when add into mouth will melt into slices. RM 4.50

yang kee (4)

‘Dry Beef Noodle’ @ RM 4.50

yang kee

One that catches my attention is that, this is the first time I come across that beef noodle in dry version with minced meat add on. The gravy that added on is a bit spicy, salty but when mixed with it, the taste is quite alright.

yang kee (5)

According to my friend, they said the beef ball here is hand beaten by the chef that is why the beef ball is so springy like what we always see in TVD drama series or in TV.

Overall, three of us did have a nice lunch while chatting all the way. Worth a try if you are around the area, around the area there are not much parking space and just wish for your luck on that day.

Gyuniku Beef Noodle House is a hidden gem in Desa Sri Hartamas that I actually did not know that located directly behind of the famous Soul Out actually hidden another small shop which I find that their food is actually quite good. If not because of my siau gang from Penang bring me here, I sure would not discover another new shop in the area. .

Gyu

Gyu (2)

A very classic shop of noodle stall or I would say modern style if you are comparing with food court or the road side stall. Cosy area and friendly staff had just make our day a perfect start and the owner also speak hokkien. 🙂

Gyu (3)

I was there for second round so I was more like a taster rather than a diner. They order ‘Beef Ball’ which I find the taste rather strong in taste which I prefer it to be, a bit spicy yet sour and the authentic beef taste is detected. RM 7

Gyu (4)

‘Beef Rice’ as the look of it already makes me want to eat it even though I am full from the first round. Soft beef slices add on with the mild gravy that makes the rice flood with gravy is just tempting as it is. RM 10

Gyu (6)

If you are a person who loves spare parts, ‘Brisket Rice’ is recommended by me. The black peper sauce which is just right to cover the taste of the brisket yet its chewy and a bit soft that doesn’t makes it too hard or over cook ( at certain places) is just perfect. RM 11

Gyu (7)

Not a big fan of ‘Fish Ball’ therefore I find it rather normal.

I am sure that I would return here for second round to actually sit down and enjoy my simple dish of beef rice.
