I have heard quite many bloggers rave about this cafe Antipodean, and wanted to pay a visit at their Bangsar Branch, hunting parking around the area is a pain in da ass. After rounds of hunting we gave up. Then found out that Antipodean have another outlet in downtown KL which is at Menara Tan & Tan.

somersby (7)

It was Sunday and head for the event for Somersby Brunch Club that taking place at this cafe. To my excitement I am keen to try the food there especially on their brunch.

With Bangsar Babe, Rif and Anna along for brunch.

somersby (1)

Love the cafe ambiance here. A typical foreign cafe area that many love to hang out especially during summer if they have outdoor area. Definitely not applicable in Malaysia.

somersby (2)

somersby (3)

What to order? You can view on their giant chalkboard menu on the wall.

somersby (4)

Quite a huge chunk of deserts to hunt for.

somersby (5)

Well, since they fall into the catagory of Shortlisted for best coffee in Time Out KL, wasnt the best I have tried so far. Still above average.

somersby (6)

In Malaysia, if you drink alcohol for breakfast or lunch, many people will stare at you like you are from another planet or alien. Its just different culture we have here. For me, it doesnt matter as long as I have great friends around, alcohol drinking will starts to kick in. This would be my first time tasting this Somersby Apple Cider that had been rated as one of the favourite drink by a few girl friends of mine.

A drink that is all rounder, easy to drink with apple taste is pretty visible, slightly gassy and perfect that you can drink it at all day long.  For a 4.5% of alcohol, you wont feel it when you have down 1 bottle. The kick will only kicks in when you down at least 4-5 bottle. Then you will be starting to float around. 😀

somersby (8)

Its a unique brunch whereby we have 2 great host in da house with Chelsia Ng and Jeremy Teo. Entertain us with their entertained with their humor and kitchen musical.

somersby (10)

Below is the video of their kicthen musical performance. Apologize for my shaky hand on that day . . . 🙂

somersby (11)

somersby (9)

It was a event open to public and patrons were giving samples of Somersby and special bottle price for that day.

somersby (12)

Love this Exotic Fruit Salad with Yoghurt, Honey and Mint. A simple fruit salad that pairs very well with the dressing and some cider. I find it more cider added in it taste much better, that still did not over power the sweet taste of honey. 😀

somersby (13)

Then we got ourselves for All Day Breakfast @ RM29.

somersby (14)

Then after sharing of one plate, we decided to order another plate with extra sausage. Scramble egg and bacon were decently prepare.

somersby (15)

Grilled Chicken with Tomatoes, Green Beans and Balsamic Vinegar @ RM28. Dressing of Balsamic vinegar, definitely stood out in taste along with fresh green beans, just that, the chicken breast find it slightly dry for me. Overall still good.

somersby (16)

Eggs Marlborough with Salmon. Salmon are pretty salty to my liking and luckily it was covered well with the runny yolks. Love the bread as its crips and eat along with the yolk is just something simple and nice.  RM32

somersby (17)

Kiwi Style Lamb Burger with brie and egg

somersby (18)

Lemon Meringue Pie & Chocolate Cake

Antipodean cafe definitely a big hit to many people, and pricing of the breakfast set surely will keep me away.

Plan B had received a huge buzz over blogging for quite some time when they first started, cuz of their unique concept that they have. Modern New York chic concept that had gain many diners heart that is cosy, nice interior that made them stood out from many of other cafe outlet. Then I try out another of their concept or I would call a slight changes of their concept from Plan B which is Journal by Plan B at Publika. Many people say good things about this outlet on their food. I try out their brunch turns out to be good too.

plan b (1)

with one of their latest outlet, Plan B at Paradigm Mall that located below Star bucks is one of the latest addition to the mall or expansion of their cafe.

plan b (2)

Check out their interior design as this section is outside. . .chilling  .. .

plan b (8)

Lets check out their menu . ..

plan b (9)

plan b (10)

Latte @

plan b (11)

Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti Carbonara @ one of the more oustanding dishes compare to the rest we have although its near tasteless, with soft shell crab quite oily. .

plan b (12)

This soup is very normal, nothing special as it taste like alot MSG in there and its very salty . . .

plan b (13)

Cheese Burger

plan b (14)

It had won our heart when we first saw the presentation with melted cheese on top of the patty. Nothing special, yet sligltly salty . .

plan b (15)

Signature of the night which is Lamb Pie, over baked that the crust is hard as the colour itself already mention it, lamb in it is overcook and the best of all, its way too salty.

This is the first time we never finish our food yet Marcus was way too hungry, he tried to finish it just left a few bites and gave up. We ended went down to the lower ground to hunt for snacks. 😀

One thing I understand which is different mall have different market as this outlet we think that its a let down or the crowd for Plan B just love salty flavour or it was the chef that had overdoze it. Anyway, with the price that we are paying, we can try other food. 🙂

Hopefully they improve on that.

plan B (22)

My friend, Immi opted for something healthy as she is on her diet then she go for Egg Avacado Feta Mash @ RM 21. First Look I thought it was too green and doesnt look pleasent to me. I cant see too much green in a plate. It suprise me with the taste and avacado mash taste good!

As we are feeling up, and I walk back to the desert counter and start pointing what I want, Banana Cake attract my attention and I would just say I had better ones before. @ RM 10

plan B (24)

Something that I have miss alot, as not many places are able to produce Rocky Road, is filled with mash mellow, chocolate and cookie crust base like at the bottom, not bad for a version in Malaysia @ RM 5

Then, I have check out other reviews and there is actually some bad experience from other bloggers too, on their lunch and dinner, So far I have only tried on their breakfast set its pretty good,  luckily we had a great time there besides their slow service as we believe they are understaff. Besides that, evertyhing is just nice. A good place to hang out for coffee with nice ambiance. Sure wont mind to drop by again for cuppa.

Thought of eating Dim Sum for the past few days, then did a research on where to eat. Then finally book one of the restaurant at Renaissance Hotel for its buffet dim sum which quite a number of good review on that. Then suddenly 2 days b4 the eating spree my friend called me up got something cheaper ah..
Then again go do some research and come across this eat all you can buffet which is at Li Jin Restaurant at Pavilion.
When we reach there around 11.15 am there were quite alot ppl waiting outside. Then I went to go ask the lady for the reservation name and she said I have to wait till 11.30 am to be serve. Then never care and just stand outside and chat with my friends.

Why this restaurant was because they give such a promo which under my friends budget RM20.80++ for eat all you can which most of them agreed and good thing was included weekends. Went to this eating spree with 10 ppl. They have 2 session for this which is the first batch is 10.30 am – 12.30 am and 12.30 am – 2.30 pm. We thought of going for the 2nd session as Brunch. 😀

While on the way walking in, they have the open concept of the open kitchen and as always the way steaming the tim sum always look tempting. The taste of it NO IDEA.

As I read a few food blogger, they mention that the roast duck here is highly recommended but never find a review on the tim sum. Will go hunt for its duck next visit~

They have quite a classy interior from inside out. Sure a pretty nice place to dine for tim sum with such a pricing.

While we were seated and this is the first cart that reach our place. We were very hungry as previous nite drank too much and today a bit hang over.. so just hantam what we can. So told the lady, everything 2 in our table.

Including this cart.
After took all the tim sum we need and me as always hungry as ever and go look around what I can curi. So found this area, with fried noodle and fried rice.
The ‘Fried Noodle’, is nice with the ‘wok’ taste is there and wasnt being too salty. A good dish to start off with
The ‘Fried Rice’ which is feel it taste much better than the noodle, as it is still warm compare to the noodle, and the best part is they are being pretty generous that alot of chinese sausage in there which makes the taste alot better.
Maybe I was still abit hang hang dei, and what ever I eat also nice.
Then the next area spotted next to it was ‘Century Porridge’ on the right, which I feel that the chuk is pretty dry up by putting into the slow cooker too long. Its a bit sticky whereby you throw it on the fly that fly over can even stick on the wall.
Next to it is theFu Chuk didnt manage to eat that cuz thought of leaving that for the last dish and ended up forgot to take.
This was the appetiser in front of the table. The very first infront of the pic I do not know what is that called but it taste sour and cold. Never really like it. The one of the right is call Leng Ngau(hokkien)suddenly forgot what its called in english. Taste not bad. Acceptable for me, which is cold, a bit salty and crunchy to its freshnesss and the one of the top left also do not know call what is it as what I know is to put all this in my mouth and taste it. It is cold dish also, a bit spicy and sour. Not my cup of tea.
So start my eating spree with this Siew Mai’ which is warm in the basket and yit lat lat.. so throw one into my mouth and feel like the siew mai is just out from the fridge and went into stim. The compactness is there but just taste normal.
Next is the Fung Chau aka Chicken Leg’ which I feel it taste weird. The skin taste like eating raw of its skin and a bit sticky too. After eating this plate,me and my friends never wanted for 2nd one.
Next is the Har Gau which is not really big in size. The prawn is not really big and the meat in there is okay and the skin is not too thick. Nothing taste special about this like some of other normal kopitiam style you can get.
Follow by my favourite ‘Char Siew Pau that will never miss in my tim sum eating spree. But dissapointedly, the feeling that it give me was the pau feels like not properly stim which the other side is hot and the skin is peeling and the other side is like just ngam ngam. The taste of it, don really like the sauce and the mince meet in there not small enough.
From top left to right:

Fish Ball
: Not a fan of that but just don taste nice.

Pai
Kuat
: Just taste so so, as its quite oily and the fats in the meat is too much.
The one on the bottom left taste nice, the skin is a bit crispy and the filling in there mix with chili sauce just ngam ngam nice to put into mouth
Siew Mai: which is another version from the up one, and thinks that this 1 taste much better. The compactness of the meat is there, and the feeling of eating char siew although not the best but no comment.
When the cart came by with this ‘Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun’ then also ask for 2 each. Compare this 2, the prawn 1 taste much nicer compare to the char siew. The char siew the piece of meat is there and the taste is just not there. Feels like missing something in it and we cant really get what it lacked off. For the prawns, it taste better as the taste had mix in with the cheong fun. Eating with the chili given is an extra.

Loh
Pak Kou
: one of the dish which I feel its nice there, its soft, with a bit of peanut fragrance and ngam ngam pan fried it.
the one on the top right, taste so so only, as fried to perfection but I feel like eating more flour than eating the base.
ThePopiah fried too long and its too crispy which makes it a bit hard to bite. Nothing special.
The Crabstick I would called it. Taste not bad, fried to perfection and the filling in there carries the tatse of the crab. Eat with mayo would be nice.
The best part of all I have been waiting and we ate till around 2.30 already. As we chatted the whole way through more than eating. Of course the deserts. The one of the top left do not know what is nice but one of the girl that serve our table, she keeps coming back happily to serve us and told me that since I like to eat desert as I keep asking her, then she bring me this.
Seriously, it taste very very very nice, inside is filled with some duck salty egg, abit of jagung taste, its soft on the outside and hot on the inside and its my recommendation for this dish over here.
As I read the review of the ‘Egg Tart’ not to be miss, which I feel it taste okay as the crust is crispy, the middle cream of it is to sweet and nice. The filling in it is just ngam ngam never too much nor too little.

The last one, taste pretty good also as it is filled with a bit kaya and ended up I wanted to request for more they told me its already finish and pass me the last 1 pack of it. SO DOWN. At the end of the meal onli get to know eat nice nice food.

After eating everything and ready to go surely we ask for our bill. The bills come out to a total of RM29 per pax which we were like har..y so ex and saw in the menu, like HK ppl doing business, added up the 3 cold dish in front of us cost RM5 each, then the towel, the tea and some other little bits and piece. Found it quite expensive for around RM29 each with the food quality and rather add some extra money to go Renaissance and enjoy the food but never try never know. Wont be considering going back at the moment.

I was brought by my friend to this what I called High Class Tim Sum. My first time in such dining for breakfast. Was drag up by my friend saying that bring me to a nice place for dim sum and just go loh.. Ended up here. Well, we came pretty early and the pathway to this restaurant it seems like the my house. No one is walking around, just US!! Then till the restaurant, EMPTY for the whole area. Then my friend prank me, I book the whole area ma. Don’t you know that~ In my dreams. The restaurant is very nicely renovated with classy interior and dim lights. It is so comfortable that once your ass is on the chair, it is glued with it. Would not really want to walk away. Then it was like the whole restaurant waiter and waitress are ready to serve us cuz we were the only customer that time. Wow!! what a service that they providing. The crowd starts pouring in after 12pm, I was there at 11am and alot of Datuk’s and Datin’s came here for their breakfast or what I would say Brunch….
I was the only one with camera, and all the people stare at me like a monkey with a camera what is this person trying to do. No picture please! this kind of feel.

Well, once you are seated they serve you this walnut. Taste good. *beware it is piousness Once eaten will never stop.

This is what I called Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fan’ (fried version)but here is name as ‘CCF‘ on the receipt. Do not know what the hell it means. Very very nice. The skin is crispy on the outsite and inside it is soft with steam type. The filling is with Char Siew. Highly recommended also. RM 11.50

My tim sum will always never miss a few dish, the ‘Steamed Pork Buns’ aka ‘Char Siew Pau‘. The bun is nicely steam and the filling is good. The mince meet is juicy, blacky enough and very nice char siew taste. RM 9 for this.
Must not miss No.2 Siew Mai’ The top of the siew mai is with the egg roe where you can find it in the sushi. You can just feel the pork ah,soft and not too thick the feeling. Mix with ‘Tim cheong‘ very nice. RM10

Wanted to have “loh mai kai‘ they do not serve so ended up ordering this one. ‘Glutinous Rice’ Which I never finish, only eat 3 bites cuz my friends they don eat. It is salty and aroma doesnt taste good. Maybe not my type but what I have eaten in Melb is far big difference. (Cannot compare then).RM14

Must not miss no.3 ‘Chicken Feet’. Not Happy Feet the show. It is a bit spicy, the skin of the chicken leg is alright, would not order again my next visit. Not my type of taste for this one. RM9

My friend ordered this ‘Lunar Cakes’. It is friend. For me I can manage to eat 1 whole piece. More than that please kill me. A bit sweet. Taste nice. Must be shared with more people only taste better. My most preferred for this is that my mom always did it for me, whereby steam it, then mix it with coconut. Wow, that will be so nice compare to this(my preference)RM10

They introduce the speciality of the desert here which is tadaaa‘Avocado Cream’ yucks..I hate avocado but surprisingly in this I took it. Taste nice and sweet, so smooth like eating Gelato ice-cream. Highly recommend on this desert. Will never be perfect if not desert to end with.

RM 12
The whole bills come in total of RM 116 including tea, taxes and service charge. For such a location I think it is reasonable and with their service they are providing. Would rate them 1st class.
