Last weekend, had a great dining experience that do not cost me a bomb for a lunch menu is at Cassis Restaurant at TTDI, KL. It is one of a fine dining restaurant in KL as they are offering French and Japanese inspired dish. 4 course lunch at RM 180, I find that it is decently priced and for the quality of food and food journey experience is just right.

Cassis Restaurant is not prominent on the main road as they sit just right 1 shop away from LUT, TTDI. Look for a bright yellow lights that lead you up to level 1.

Upon door opening, you will be greeted with soothing French background music, follow by greetings with a friendly staff at the door that will then bring to your seat, if you made a reservation.

For soup, you can pick :

Smoked Clam Chowder
corn, garlic crouton, parsley

Cassis Restaurant ttdi (6)

Little did I know, I order my first dish wrongly as I wanted the puff soup but accidentally order with Smoked Clam Chowder.

Another which I find it excited is Foie gras (top up RM 60) but turns out not to be a soup. It is a side. Perfectly pan seared foie gras that is crips on the skin layer and melt in your mouth inside base is just perfect. with its dressings on top just add on the flavours it needed.

wagyu beefMains:

Opted for Aged MB5 Australia Black Angus Sirloin baby spinach, mushroom, beef jus. I requested medium rare and it is cook to the way I wanted. seared on the outside with a nice little umami taste I like and the jus might be too strong. I prefer to have it by itself is already kinda perfect. I order their Italian red house wine to go with it. I believe its a Shiraz and its goes well with its after taste. a mxiture of shiraz spicy note and jus which is slight bitter and meat seared taste is perfect combo.

you can choose to upgrade : Miyazaki A5 Sirloin (supplement RM180)

lobster meal

Another main that happy over it is Maine Lobster & Scallop perfectly cooked with the taste sweetness of lobster is still prominent. Scallop is nicely done too. Ordered their house wine Italian White which have a bit of sweet floral note to match the seafood that I have. Liking it.

comptoirs richard parisBefore dessert, we are given a choice of Coffee or Tea. Rarely I choose for tea this round is because of the brand. I choose fruit tea because I saw the dessert list that i will be having and I believe will match to my personal taste bud.

When the dessert it serve, I am totally happy over it, with variety explosion of taste. Starting off with:

Varlhorna Chocolate Truffle
Chocolate ‘n’ Peanut Butter Eclair
Earl Grey Jelly with Vanilla Cream
Mango-Yogurt
Shine Muscat Tart

fine dine in kl

Was told by the server that we should start from left to right from the wood platform and end with the chocolate.
comptoirs richard paris tea

It is indeed a pretty satisfying desert ending with variety of flavours to hit on. From mixture of sour, salty and clear earl grey jelly with umami chococlate. Just perfecto!
Cassis Restaurant ttdi (10)

Whenever I travel, at times I will opt for fine dine or good food. For our local and RM 180 for such great food journey, I find that this is certainly one of a recommended menu to all of you. I am satisfied and happy over it. Maybe could be one of a fine dining restaurant in PJ you could consider?

Just would want to say, it is not good to put your expectation up before dining. One of a reason because of their background. Playte Contemporary Dining is one of the new kids on the block in Bukit Damansara, ,KL that is run by 3 young prominent chef with their establishment started since Aug 2019.

Playte (2)

Run by 3 young culinary chef are Brendon Chen, Kae Huey and Sharina Aidid, who first met while studying in Le Cordon Bleu six years ago. With the talent Brendon, had staged at Taipei’s Mume (ranked seventh this year on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants) and honed his craft at KL’s own Nadodi (which CNN recently described as potentially being the world’s next great Indian restaurant) – this is the part that lifted up my expectation.

Playte (3)

A dining place that is set up in modern interior casual dining space. Divided into 2 dining seating area. My preference is always on the bar bench as you get to enjoy chef in action. If you need some private space, then hit for their floor seating area.

Playte (4)

Playte (5)

I believe this is not their permanent menu, as like any other modern dining, their menu is seasonal.

Playte (6)

Playte (7)

Looking at the menu, decided to try out

Playte (8)

Playte (9)

Next is Squid – king oyster mushroom, mushroom broth, thyme @ RM 34. Squid cut to perfection in slices and in the same order of sizes. Broth is fragrant yet I find that the flavour do not match. Freshness of squid and the broth is quite separated.

Playte (10)

Playte (11)

Service here is definitely not top notch as I do have expectation that each plate to be cleared upon arrival of each dish.  However my first 2 dishes plate still sits right next to me before arrival of mains. This is even I am seated at the bench and right in front of the chef’s.

Playte (12)

Playte (13)

Playte (14)

I did not order the fish, guessing this is Threadfin @ RM 56. – thouchu butter & charred greens. It does looks good though, as the fish looks done to perfect.

Playte (16)

My original order was Waygu Triptip and after seeing the first order went out on the Duck, we decided to go on this instead. The duck believe is sous vide as to keep the colour and the meat cook just right. I just wish the skin is pan seared to crisp. The sauce that comes along is quite interesting, bitter and sourness of it does pairs a little well. The char-grilled cauliflower do give the taste a little lift.

Playte (18)

Duck is a tricky dish, should have stick back to my original order Wagyu as it does look much promising as below when they prep on it.

Playte (19)

Playte (20)

For dessert, we try on the recommendation from the floor staff that Gula Melaka Ice Cream is their signature. – warm chocolate mouse and roselle. Warm chocolate nicely done, warm and punch with bitterness. A ring of chocolate biscuti covered ontop to support on the ice cream. However, there is no hint of gula melaka.

Overall, I brought high expectation to this dining experience. A piece of advise is to go in without any and dine accordingly. This place perhaps might suits your palate.

Among other new young chef restaurants that I tried over past 6 months, the 2 below fares better for me.

  1. Little Pig @ The Hub, SS2 – modern Spanish dining
  2. Gooddam @ The Hub, SS2 – modern Italian with local twist
  3. top 3 modern fine dining in KL

I am starting to like Setia Walk in Puchong to be appear another main joint of drinking and eatery place. Spreading out their lovely landscaping that is one of the main crowd puller that provides great ambiance which is something unique compare to other mall. Bondi Junction.

This would be my second time here as still find parking here is a bit confusing or there weren’t proper signage up yet at the moment. Last round that I came, I visited Sushi Tei and now came back here for second round, we are in hunt for one Mediterranean food located at Block F level one. First timer here looking for this shop, surely will be lost locating. Just look for Ding Tea, and its above it.

Bondi (1)

A simple casual dining place whereby you can just hop in anytime. A place whereby its decorated with simple hanging decorations, and why Australia flag is there, its because mainly the influence are from Australia, hence Bondi Junction is the name of the shop whereby its a place in Sydney.

Bondi (2)

Bondi (3)

Bondi (4)

Bondi (5)

Bondi (6)

Its pretty amazing that they have this open concept kitchen yet you don feel that the smoke from kitchen is coming out. Maybe its non-air condition and pretty well ventilation around the area that do not make us feel it.

Bondi (7)

A simple menu with good offerings for us to hunt from. Price of dish are pretty decent.

Bondi (8)

I have tried this previously when we first drop by after my meal at Sushi Tei and instally we fall for this Focaccia Bread with 4 dips @ RM25. Made freshly by the chef with only limited offerings available. When it was place onto the table, the aroma of the freshly bake bread with rosemary and olives dotting the flat loaf entrails into our nose and just couldn’t wait to get a bite of it. .

Comes with 4 dips: sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, black olives and balsamic vinegar, and I prefer the sundried tomato and feta cheeze are awesome combination.

Bondi (9)

Wild Mushroom Soup @ RM 11 are all in homemade style with fresh ingredients that cook on the spot. Its flavourful that we need not even add in any black pepper that the taste is already there. How could we resist the temptation of this.

Bondi (10)

Roasted Pumpkin and Red Capsicum Soup @ RM 11 would be something unique for the night as there are hint of little spicy pepper taste and both are equally good. In the end, we order the soup again for another round.

Bondi (11)

This doesnt look like pizza as the own version of Bondi Junction Meat LoversRM25 topped with turkey ham, pepperoni, minced beef, onions, capsicum, olives and mozzarella. The dough are prepared daily for pizza and made fresh. Its slightly different from any other pizza that I had as the crust is thin and near to bread. I prefer meat lovers more.

Bondi (12)

Bondi Special @ RM27 – with basil pesto, olives, sundried tomatoes, capsicum, pepperoni, egg, onions and mozzarella.

Bondi (13)

To me, super star of the night would be Beef Lasagna @  RM18. After one bite of this, it instantly hit onto my top chart as one of the best. Soft filling inside out with carefully baked melted cheeze on top, with chef special tomato base sauce that make it outstanding. -Highly recommended for Beef as I think it taste much better than Chicken.

Bondi (14)

Beef Bolognese Spaghetti @ RM15 Minced beef  in Napolitana sauce with basil and parmigiano. I think this is not bad as I had the lasagna first and I think it had overpower the taste this. Spaghetti is al-dante.

Bondi (15)

Most people would misfire this dish – Chicken Gordon Bleu @ RM30 for one of a simple reason that the chicken breast would end up very dry. As for here, it suprise us that its not dry yet still quite juicy and aromatic with cheeze & ham taste in it. Well done.

Bondi (16)

Stuffed Seafood Chicken @ RM30 is one of a unique this that I have come across as  pan-seared chicken roulade stuffed with chopped seafood served with pistachio sauce, greens and grilled herbed potatoes. Its a very well balance dish with greens, roasted potato and the sauce of pistachio taste unique. What makes it perfect is with red wine that pulls the taste up very well.

Bondi (17)

Roasted Salmon with Red Pesto @ RM32 a dish that looks very healthy to me. With colourful veggie and lemon for you to squeeze on.

Bondi (18)

Comes dessert time, rarely no one will say no.

Bondi (19)

Crème Brulee, Classic Apple Pie and French Lemon Tart, @ RM10 each.

Bondi (20)

At that point, we were pretty stuff and yet the picture of this Russian Benny @ RM17 – fatty salmon, mushrooms and toast with the thick creamy Hollandaise sauce keep calling our name. Its  agreat breakfast that we order 2 portion. Do let the waiter know you prefer runny yolk as one dish the yolk are pretty cook. Of course with this great breakfast would not be complete with. . . Coffee.

Bondi (21)

Coffee in Bondi Junction are pretty good. I love their Mocha and Flat white. They are price in between RM6 and RM9

Valentines is just around the corner and looking for something pretty simple with great food, definitely this outlet would be another recommendation by me even for ordinary dining with friends and family.

If you been to the new One Utama on their newly refurbish wing, you can get tons of F&B outlet there easily. One of the new discovery that we came accross is this shop located in between old and new wing right in front of Carls Jr I am not mistaken is this shop called Petite Millie.

[Update – No longer in Operation – Currently is Franco]

Petite Mellie (1)

A shop that had another outlet in Menara Kencana Petroleum in Solaris Dutamas called Millesime which some of you might heard of it before, along with the meaning of ‘vintage’ or ‘good harvest’.

Petite Mellie (2)

Why is it called Petite Millie? Is literally translated as ‘Little Millesime’, which opened its door early this year with the concept of modern European casual dining as well as the incorporation of fine dining as Millesime’s heritage.

Petite Mellie (3)

The restaurant serve some French-influence cuisine fresh with daily ingredients.

Petite Mellie (13)

Here comes our dish and being bombard with first Roasted Leek and Potato Veloute @ RM12.50. Looks Creamy and pale to me that garnish with chives and avocado oil and certainly did impress me with the taste of it. Simple, not too creamy yet thick along with the taste of the fish is being detected.

Petite Mellie (14)

Provencale Root Vegetables and Brolotti Bean @ RM12.50. The tapenade is made with black olives, blended in a food processor until it becomes very smooth. I usually do not like anything that have tomato in it especially in soup but this is something that I can accept and well cook along with the carrot is soft by eating along with the soak crouton is just nice~

Petite Mellie (12)

Luv a Duck is a must that I had feel in love when it was serve. Simply look delicious from the serving itself. .Maybe I am a sandwich lover that something came out like that is hard to resist that serve along with peppered duck breast and fresh rocket leaves. The crust bread at the bottom is soft and pair well with all the ingredient and the duck breast is simply being cook well. @ RM23.50Recommended!

NED_0080

One thing that caught my attention that it had been long time since I had dine along something with poutine and this restaurant do serve it. Poutine is actually a dish of French Fries and fresh Cheeze curds covered with brown gravy sauce that origin from French Canadian. Some other restaurant have their own recipe or other ingredient being added along too.

I must say Poutine Cheek in Petite Millie is impressive! Taste of thick brown gravy cook along with shiitake mushroom with chunks of beef being cook medium well is just perfect. Cant stop eating this dish. another dish to be recommended! @ RM26.

Petite Mellie (15)

First of all the name of this dish is very tricky as it is called Very Atas One @ RM26. When other’s ask me what is the name of this dish, I told them is Very Atas One then they said woi..what is the name of the dish, I repeated myself again and they said don play la. .  I  show them with my very serious face~ Really!!! its called very Atas One, and they thought I am joking till I need to show them the menu. 😀

One of the reason that I think its called ‘Very Atas One’ as they have the might cube of blue cheeze sitting on top of  this dish cook along with thinly sliced of beef, and caramelized onions. Its a love and hate relationship of this dish either you enjoy or you do not like the taste of it. SEriously the blue cheese they have tone down already and its not very strong in smell nor taste. I guess its to suits every one taste bud. You have to mix it well, if not I manage to bite a chunk of blue cheeze that will just make you go beserk . .:D

Petite Mellie (16)

Iberian Beef Cecina serve along with Sliced air dried beef loin and capsicum concasee @ RM19,50

Petite Mellie (17)

Avocado and Crab… c’est une boone vie prepared with thyme, balmy lemon oil, refreshing chive, crab meat salad and Avocado @ RM19.50. I would called this French Pizza that serve in thin crust bread. Fresh baked and eat it while its hot.

Petite Mellie (18)

Another delightful dish is Emilia’s Tagliatelle al Duck Ragu is two ducks preparation, pesto and oregano. Love the texture of it and eat along with duck ragu is just aromatic in one bite! @ RM28.50.

Petite Mellie (19)

One of Petite Millie Signature is White Truffle Oil Fish Pie @ RM36.50

Petite Mellie (20)

Love the pippin freshly toast crust that being cook along with white truffle oil baked fish pie with shiitake mushroom. After cutting the crust with cracking sound then the aroma of the soup just burst into the air make all of us eager to try it out. A bit creamy soup base and eat along with the crust is just a perfect pair~

Petite Mellie (21)

Bourguignonne Style Beef Bavette @ RM46.50

Petite Mellie (22)

There are many places to be and hang out to have good meals with friends or casual business meetings, and if you are looking for a place that provide sensual and cozy ambiance, one of the place that I discover is Delucca The Italian Restaurant, one of a restaurant that offers authentic Italian Cuisine.

delucca (1)

delucca (2)

A place where its nicely set up that is perfect for love birds to celebrate special occasion in a section I find it very nice with uncomplete bricks decor and lights just shine towards that table . ..

delucca (3)

delucca (4)

Very much cozy area for dining which give me the kind of more casual, as the place lit with low lighting bulbs . . . .

delucca (5)

and I quite like the bar counter which is located directly in the middle of the restaurant which kinda seperate the area of more casual dining and proper dining area. . .

delucca (6)

if you do have private meetings or functions they do have this vip area for you .. .

delucca (7)

delucca (8)

Menu in the restaurant is quite simple with just one simple page that represent the whole list of it. Browsing through the list of it, the range of it is quite impressive as there are a few dishes that I am aiming for especially with duck.Well, dinner for tonight already arrange by my friend so we will just sit there and enjoy the meal . . .

delucca (9)

Frangelico Lemon @ RM18 is Frangelico added with lemon twist and sugar. One of a desert drink to start of with and the taste is absolutel nice. A bit sweet in taste with hint lemon and end taste, it taste more like Tiramisu in drink version. – Recommended.

delucca (10)

If you love alcohol, and I was told that Italians they do enjoy similiar drinks before their meal as usually they have long dinner over the table by chatting and socialising over the dinner table is to start off with Negroni @ RM25 that is made of one part gin, one part sweet Vermouth and one part bitters, traditionally Campari, garnished with an orange peel, it is known as an aperitif or pre-dinner cocktail intended to stimulate the appetite.
