I am having trouble with my blog at the moment. Text and arrangement surely is not right. Hopefully can solve it soon.

Dai Ban Noodle is another new hidden joint that we recently discover, that this outlet had been operating for quite a while already. The only thing is I seldom drive pass the back area which is the Wondermilk stretch till friend mention that why not give it a try.

dai ban (4)

Food selection here is pretty interesting as the shop name noodles gave me the impression that they going to serve lots of types of noodle but its a good mixture, find that their Pan mee would be their signature.

dai ban (7)

We did quite order a number of drinks that night, with many using fresh ingredient especially passion fruit series that caught my attention with lemon and asam.

dai ban (8)

Dry chili with shrimp here is good as we just ate it like that and very aromatic to go along with noodle and not spicy. Next to it is sambal here is definately will give you extra kick as its homemade and spicy enough to make you sweat

dai ban (9)

We order some starter to start with. As this was serve, Salted Egg Squid smells very good with the trail of salted egg left along and no doubht that it taste as good as it smells. Cripsy with golden brown crust outside that fried to perfection. RM 11.90

dai ban (14)

Crunchy Prawn Roll @ RM7.90

dai ban (15)

Smoked Duck is price @ RM 8.90 and I would say its cheap. At that kind of price it give me doubht on the quality of it and the dish itself proves me wrong. The taste of smoked is strong, just the way I like it. Recommended

dai ban (10)

Dai Ban Pork Burger, find that the patty is a bit peppery as no doubt its thick and juicy top with cheese and dark charcoal bun, accompanied by the crispy golden wedges on the side. Not the best I have come across as it can be further improve on the taste. @ RM 15.90

dai ban (11)

dai ban (12)

Traditional Handmade Dai Ban Mee is one of the signature in the outlet for the handpeel series. @ RM 6.50

dai ban (13)

dai ban (16)

This is one of the dish that capture my attention instantly when I was browsing thru Claypot Pumpkin & Pork Rib Congee @ RM10.90. Serve pippin hot in claypot with golden yellow texture and I must say this is one of the winner in the outlet. Very soft and smooth congee, with little sweet end aromatic and pork ribs pairs well. – Recommended

dai ban (17)

One of the highly recommended by me would be Lemon Grass Pork Chop with Fried Rice @ RM 12.90. Pork chop cook to perfection that its not too hard yet season to fragrant and soft and they are quite generous with it as the pork chop is pretty huge. Fried rice pairs well with it. I must say its one of the simple dish I have come across.

Those of you who love steamboat surely will know this famous Famous Fish Head Steamboat, Zi Wei Yuen Restaurant (紫薇園魚頭火炭爐) at mainland Raja Uda, Penang or a very glory well known brand in the island itself is Goh Huat Seng in Kimberly Street. Eam Huat Teo Chew Fish Charcoal Steamboat is one of a addition in my list that you should not miss.

For this place, it is a recent discovery when I am back for Chinese New Year, my friend introduce me his uncle that also operate a charcoal steamboat in Penang island for the past 9 months that had create his own regular clientele is this Eam Huat Teo Chew Fish Charcoal Steamboat that located infront of Central Park Condo at Jelutong Market here. Since he said its so good that I must die die also come, then I arrange all my best buddy with 10 of us to come attack on it.

eam huat (2)

The location is not so hard to find as you just need to locate this corner shop kopitiam that house with many other hawker stalls in this Kedai Makanan & Minuman Labu opposite the Jelutong Market.

eam huat (1)

eam huat (3)

If you have not decide to dine in here, the menu and pricing are all smack on its stall itself.

eam huat (4)

When we flip thru the menu, we are quite surprise to see the pricing of this steamboat, its quite cheap and definately generous in ingredient. If you do not know what to order, go for their set.

eam huat (5)

Since there are 10 of us, we go for their biggest set which is the RM200 and add on some ala carte just incase not enough.

eam huat (6)

The pot that they are using, is very classic with golden pot that uses charcoal to heat up the soup. Anything with charcoal, I am surely up for it as the taste is always better.

eam huat (7)

Here are all the dish being ordered, one of their signature item is Homemade meatballs and Fook Chau homemade fish ball are very delicious and chewy

eam huat (8)

eam huat (10)

All hungry people already asking me to quickly snap on the pic.

eam huat (9)

This is the basic ingredient that given to us for a start as we have yet to add on any of the side dish we ordered yet. For a basic pot of soup, it comes with seaweed, deep fried bean curb, fish meat…and others. This Teo Chew steamboat is definitely different from the famous mainland as its not milky soup base, and the soup is very sweet by itself with fish meat and yam, we cannot imagine the amount of ingredients being used and hours to cook in it. All the seafood ingredient that being serve are fresh and good as the owner believe in serving fresh ingredient to his customer.

eam huat (11)

This is what happen when the pot got put down and with hungry people like them, the pot was clear within seconds, and we go on for 4 rounds. At the end of the night, every one is stuff and we could not even finish some of the ingredient.

eam huat (12)

At the end of the night, here is the cheeky boss that my friend keep pranking of him to get discount. As a result, we did not get any discount and our bill came about RM 250 with each person paying RM25 which is CHEAP for a steamboat quality like that.

Its good news for all of us that now we need not drive all the way to Raja Uda for a good steamboat, yet some of my friend prefer the famous Raja Uda steamboat, the difference is soup base quality. For me, I personally prefer this with less MSG detected as I do not drink as much water as I do compare to the other one. Certainly this falls into one of my recommended steamboat if you are craving for one, it wins because of pricing and quality.

There is no reservation allow as based on walk in only. Do note that their dinner time is pack with people and advise to go early.

Hmmm, this year I do travel alot and lets start off with my Australia journey that I have done which I have always wanted to go back visit my friend. This round did not stop by Melbourne but head direct to Sydney. One of a trip that is pretty last minute but nevertheless I have to thanks to Jun Wen for all the best hospitality and knowing I love food he bring me to all his favourite restaurant – Bassim.

On my late arrival, it was well just nice for dinner time. Therefore he introduce me one of the place that he drop by at least once a week to whack on all his favourite beef slice. When he ask me am I okay for Korean BBQ, of course my reply is hell yah. As far as I know till date, there are still none of the Korean restaurant can still beat anything here yet.

Bassium (1)

Bassim – Steak and Seafood House is like a neighborhood restaurant that located in Strathfield which is about 25 minutes drive away from city. The reason being here is that nearby my friends house.

Bassium (2)

Its a place that fully pack with humans during dinner time as I snap this pic when they are about to close the shop. Yap, we ate from 8.30pm till closing. That’s how much and how long we spend our time there.

Bassium (3)

This is what I mean when getting a spot in the restaurant wasnt easy.

NED_3114

If without any conversion rate, the price is definitely much cheaper to any Malaysian restaurant can offer.

Bassium (5)

Normally, Korean restaurant will give you alot of side dish, but this shop give you selected side dish to pair along with their bbq.

Bassium (6)

AFter BBQ this is the ingredient that you have to wrap along with, a slice of cabbage, garlic, cucumber and green chili.

Bassium (7)

Dipping along with the sauce to make it even more perfect.

Bassium (8)

Charcoal BBQ that bout to bbq your favourite ribs away.

Bassium (9)

Before that, order Denjang (if I am not mistaken) Bean paste soup with vegetable and beef. A perfect dish to go along with its winter outside something to bring back body heat. Pouring the soup over to the rice just  makes it a perfect combination to eat along. Slightly sour with mild spiciness.

Bassium (10)

2 types of meat we order for the night is Spicy Dak Galbi @ AUD 16 marinated along with special spicy sauce.

Bassium (11)

Here comes our ribs So Galbi @ AUD 19 with 3 portion. Look how pretty the red meat is with their own special marination sauce.

Bassium (12)

AS the ribs was added on top, the smell of it generated is aromatic. Cant wait to get a bite of it.

Bassium (13)

Grill till its medium well and left the bone there to char grill. Beef had been own grill to perfection, flavorful, and the seasoning that they use, makes the beef slice juicy. I keep picking up the beef slice and keep ordering till I was totally stuff.

Bassium (14)

Along the way my friend order this, to be eaten along with Beef slice to make it even more kick. We ended up ordering 7 portion of beef and 3 portion of chicken for 4 pax. Definitely all of us are big eater. :p It was a very satisfied dinner, whereby I have long forgotten the best taste of it. At the end of the meal only understand that why this is his favourite Korean place or he rate Bassim is the best Korean BBQ restaurant in Sydney so far. If you do have the time, this is definitely a restaurant worth trying.

One of the place that me and my friends had been talking for ages is to come to this very old classic for breakfast. It was on the long weekend when I was back to Penang and I got drag by a few of them to hunt for this place and finally we are here. Toh Soon Cafe operates in a small ally at Campbell Street that this place is one of a favourite hang out place during my grandparents time.

Toh Soon (1)

It was those good old times whereby you can see alot of people sitting here enjoying their coffee while reading newspaper as this place serve Hainanese breakfast, that operate by an old couple.

Toh Soon (2)

Cannot deny that this place is pretty well known now by many people, thanks to blog and Facebook had sligltly popularize this place. AS it is long weekend, definately you will see alot of tourist in this cafe.

Toh Soon (3)

Please do have patients in this cafe while waiting for your toast and coffee as it is handle by these old couple and help of friends.

Toh Soon (4)

Many people came here just for the classic breakfast, which is toast, steam bread, half boil egg with coffee.

Toh Soon (5)

Keke, you will never get to see this super classic toaster, that is modified from oil barrel burn with charcoal at the bottom as at the deepest level, there is where your bread are toast and head further up, there is where your hot water is being boiled. 2 in 1.

Toh Soon (6)

Toh Soon Singature drink, Kopi  . .. Not so bitter compare to the others, slightly robust in coffee and I always prefer mine with milk. My friend ended up having 2 glass of this.

Toh Soon (7)

I still prefer mine in hot for breakfast.

Toh Soon (8)

another signature here I would say is their steam bun. Its soft near to cotton that spread with simple kaya and butter. Definitely they are more generous in their ingredients compare to any franchise chain.

Toh Soon (9)

To eat it in more classic, I usually will dip it into my kopi as taught by my grandfather. To be even more classic, you can pour your coffee onto the base plate and drink it from there.

Toast bread range:

Toh Soon (10)

Toh Soon (11)

Toh Soon (12)

Toh Soon (13)

This is one of a unique one as the bread had slight chocolate taste and toast then spread with kaya and butter. Nice.

Toh Soon (14)

so this is how I enjoy my simple classic breakfast over the morning. Just perfect. Nothing much to shout about as only one thing that you must not miss is their steam bread. Loving it.

Parking here can be  a pain in the ass as its very limited. Therefore you can try  Lorong Kampung Malabar (next to Lebuh Campbell) where there’s a lot of parking always available and just walk into the lane only about 50m away.

I guess the hype of burger will never cool down in blogsphere. First you have a big buzz on pork burger over the years and one of the most recent buzz is homemade American burger style. I bet many of you have read reviews about this place before, MyBurgerLab that had made a huge buzz over the blogsphere for the past 2-3 months.

After bugging from my friend and finally I decided to drop by. I thought the huge buzz of this will cool down over the months, I guess it just proof me wrong, as they have strong crowd of loyal customers and I do even have friends that go every week as their burger is just addictive according to one of them. Beware, as their operating times are very limited.

myburgerlab (1)

A new outlet that recently open by 3 buddies that had made burger ventures into new dimension. MyBurgerlab is like an experimental lab for them, or more like a food playground that their creative creation being put onto the menu for customers to hunt for.

myburgerlab (2)

I am here as early as 6.30pm on weekdays and look at the crowd. Its Crazy and people are queuing out thru the door to order their favourite burger. Some people are hunting for seats. Its a small area, I would best advise you order and make a take away.

myburgerlab (3)

Calling number is 77 and the order number had went up to 130. Average waiting time for your burger could take up 45minutes – 70 minutes. So be patient while waiting for your burger as if you do come here and dine, do expect to wait.

myburgerlab (4)

myburgerlab (5)

myburgerlab (6)

Their menu are pretty straight forward with a few choices to choose from the either Beef, Chicken or Vege.

myburgerlab (7)

Everything is prepare fresh from the kitchen. . . Even their charcoal bun they made themselves.

myburgerlab (8)

myburgerlab (9)

Beef A++ @ RM15

Sharp Cheddar , Caramelised Onions, Shiitake and Enoki Mushrooms

myburgerlab (10)

Elvis Presley is not display on their menu, order upon request. 😀

myburgerlab (11)

One of the best burger I have come accross that its not too dry and peanut bugger mix pretty well with the jam that create the extra umph of it.

myburgerlab (14)

It is advisable that treat this burger as a desert burger, as once you eat this burger, you cant really taste other burger as the taste of peanut will cover the rest of it.

myburgerlab (12)

Say cheeseChicken with cheddar @ RM 11. Something light and delightful. Sure enough to satisfy you.

myburgerlab (13)

Beautiful Mess @ RM18
Grilled Portobello Mushrooms, Sunny Side Up, Mozarella Cheese. With the name itself, be assure that it is going to make a mess for you as you press slightly harder, the egg yolk will ooze out from the burger to make it a bit juicy moist and if do not hold it well, there goes your finger and next destination is basin to wash your hand.
This is how many burger we order for 5 pax.
I must say that burger here are damm awesome! Moist, not too hard as well prepare and every mouth bite is satisfying that the cheddar cheeze is melted on the patty with their own lab dressing, it just makes you want more. Now I understand why people are craving for it.
Personal favorite – Beautiful Mess and Elvis Presley.

myburgerlab (15)

Here we are with the hungry hunters, Anna, Eunice and Me.

NED_8685_resize

and of course Immi, Ren and all the best to you in UK  see you soon eh~

To patron this place, it is highly advisable you eat something like before you come while waiting for it and please do come before 8pm as usually it sold out before 8pm on those signature.

People do come here queue as early as 4pm right before the shop opens as they operate only at night. If you are craving for nice homemade burgers, this would be definately one of the place I am recommending as the pricing of the buger is slightly higher and I am sure many people would not mind to pay as they have its class of its own. Just by Adding additional RM5 – you will get frieds and free flow soft drinks.

Heee, as some of you might have seen my previous post on Famous Yew Char Kuih & Ham Chi Peng that is located next to them, is actually related as I went on the same day. Lets head to next door which is the famous Zi Wei Yuen Steamboat Restaurant which is very famous in Raja Uda. One of the reason they are famous is because of the soup base, which is the only super important ingredient for steamboat.

zi wei (1)

I have been talking with my family and friends to come and dine at this restaurant for like bout 1 n half years already till date it was all wrong timing and since this round I am quite free and my friends love this restaurant, the agreed without any hesitation since its their favorite also.

zi wei (2)

To make an efford here, it is highly advise to reach here before 7pm or after 9pm as during peak dinner hours, you have to fight with  many families to get a spot in the area as its super pack.

zi wei (3)

This is what I mean as those who are standing are hunting for a table, so you better disperse your family members or friends to get a spot.

zi wei (4)

We lazy to order what is in the menu therefore we go for their set dinner, my friends opted for the most expensive set RM220 that consist of at least 10-14 items if I am not mistaken.

zi wei (5)

zi wei (6)

zi wei (7)

zi wei (8)

zi wei (9)

All the hungry people are ready in action . .

zi wei (10)

One of the thing that they are famous for is their special signature Fish Head Steamboat that available in two version, with fried fish head or the steam type. We choose the steam type then another attraction is that their soup base is milky version that you cant really find that in Penang and mostly I would say its the KL version.

Not only that, they use charcoal steamboat version to make it more nice. I only have charcoal steamboat when I went back to my grandmother’s village at some where deep in mainland only get to enjoy it.

zi wei (11)

This is what happen when the pour everything inside and waiting for it to boil as charcoal takes time to make it cook.

Find that the soup base is aromatic and sweet, as you can taste that they really take something to boil it long time to make it there and milky version of soup just make it look interesting. As you refill the soup many times then the soup gets more salty towards the end and the base.

zi wei (13)

Another thing that best pair with the steamboat is their own homemade chili sauce, that dip along with the ingredient is just perfect.

After a while after the dinner most of us gets very thirsty and I guess that they have added on alot of MSG to make us drink lots of water after that. No doubt that the soup base is good that we drank alot of the soup and just need to drink alot of water hours later. 😀

Its pretty good and worth to try. . .
