What is the first instant thing when people say Hartamas? Instead of luxury housing area, it comes to me food. Smack right in the heart of Hartamas you can see rows of shophouses that is filled with alot eateries and some offices. Well, there is actually one hidden place that is flock with many young people during night.

geo (1)

Its Geo’s Cafe, that had been operating in this area for a few years now, starting off their business by sharing a hawker stall, evolve to burger truck and now they have settle down in a proper shop now. Not only that, their business is so good that now they are planing to take over another shop in the corner to cater for family crowd.

geo (2)

Its not a huge shop but the sitting area are all being place at the walkway pavement.

geo (3)

they also practice open concept kitchen.

geo (4)

geo (5)

Geo’s Cafe food offering are more towards western fusion, with street gourmet burgers, Italian range and some local cuisine.

geo (6)

geo (7)

geo (8)

geo (9)

Geo’s Extreme Lamb Burger @ RM 13 – single homemade lamb patty with cheddar cheese, homemade GorGEOS sauce, fresh lettuce, slices of onions, with sesame bun.

geo (10)

Drench in sauces and smells good when it was serve as it does taste as good as it smells. Patty is soft along with melted cheese and their own special sauce that add the kicks of it. The patty also have little lamb taste that make it nicer. ūüôā

geo (11)

Their Speghetti Carbonara is not bad, creamy and the speghetti is slightly overcook.

geo (12)

Beef Steak serve with Pasta @ RM 23 – serve with a choice of mushroom, blackpepper, garden salad with thousand island dressing and serve with aglio alio pasta. Love their aglio alio which is light in garlic taste and aromatic.

geo (13)

If you are there chilling with your friends then Chicken Wings @ RM 8 – Honey coated chicken wings serve with creamy cheese sauce. Is one of the snacks you must order. Serve pippin hot, crips on the skin and pairs well with their cream cheeze.

Surely this turns out to be one of the hotspot for many young people as during dinner they attract more young family crowd too. Will be one of my hang out spot soon too as they are pretty well known with their sisha.

A new outlet that had just pop out in the neigbourhood of Damansara Kim. Tug in a quiet area but it had start to gain its fame thru online platform. We got to know that KomPassion one of a NON-Halal Thai food, then it makes us even more eager to try it out. Then decided to head to that outlet and do menu attack again..

kompassion (1)

kompassion (2)

I love the interior of the outlet which is creatively set up, that is very simple yet look elegant, with zink atap roof, wooden platform chairs on the side with pillows and lights below  . .

kompassion (3)

Water paip s as the support frame of the lap. .

kompassion (4)

A group of us sitting there quietly browsing on the menu, then got slightly excited as they offer quite a range of food to choose from and many new items or signature to hunt for. Price are slightly more expensive . .

As usual, when we go in a group of food bloggers without any invites, the usual still we will be equip with our gear Рlights and camera. As the food came, every one in the restaurant were very curious on what we are doing. Then only the owners drop by our table to introduce themselves as Desmond Wong and Tan Huat Jin (who are brothers-in-law). Even better to know that both of them actually  teamed up with Chef Nikom Uatthong to set up this restaurant.

How the name Kompassion came up is they know the chef have alot of passion in cooking hence by using his last 3 character of his name and combine with this and that is how the name being created.

kompassion (6)

We started off with starter. KomPassion Chicken Wings @ RM17.90 A very simple dish that well marinated with spices and I was saying, if order a beer would have been perfect.

kompassion (7)

Stir Fried Kai Lan @ RM15

kompassion (8)

First pork dish and we are all excited, as The Paneang Curry Pork Loin came first..

kompassion (9)

A bit dissapointed on the other end as for the price of RM 35 its a rather small portion. Curry is thick with a hint of basil taste after that. Its not bad to go along with rice.

kompassion (11)

If you prefer something light and more soupy gravy, Green Curry Crispy Pork is the one that you should go after. Filled with basil leave taste, slightly creamy curry gravy and the pork cook along can still taste the¬†crisp¬†of the [email protected] RM35

kompassion (10)

Tom Yum Fried Rice with Grilled Seafood @ RM18.90 , is cook in a healthy way with multi-grain brown rice is used and the serving came with grilled squid rings, a medium-sized prawn, crabsticks and salmon fillet. At the price I find this is very reasonable and rice being fried to fragrant and the sauce pairs very well, with seafood is fresh.

kompassion (15)

If you travel to Thai often, then many of us would not miss pork leg rice, as its the same in Kompassion Pork Leg Rice, when we saw this in the menu, its a must order. Pork meat is soft and juicy with gravy and the chili sauce that pair along is mild spicy and sourish end taste.  @ RM25.90

kompassion (13)

One of my favorite which is under KomPassion Special, we ordered the Double Cooked Pork Belly and Soft Shell Crabs with Cucumber Salad @ RM65. The pork skin is awesome, that its crispy on every bite and the meat is tender. Unami sauce that shower into it that makes the taste even better. Soft Shell crab on the other end fried to perfection till crisp and top with ebiko to make it even more bitefull feeling. РRecommended!

kompassion (14)

Tom Yum Fish¬†@ RM45 with a spicy level of 2 (choose from 1-3, 3 being the spiciest). For those who cant really like spicy then would advise to go for level one. As the spiciness doesnt kicks in immediately, will suddenly shot up and I down a glass of water instantly. Its challenging yet I would not mind to go for level 3. ūüėÄ Fish slices that cook along is soft and fresh. – recommended!

kompassion (16)

Tako @ RM10 is one of the signature in the outlet as its better for you to pre-order first when you are ordering your meal. Smooth coconut milk texture on the top and pandan base makes it hard to resist and and Ice Cream with Jackfruit and Red Ruby @ RM10, I find it pretty average..

Cheese cake are complimentary for us to try (bottom left)

In the end our bill came into RM 382.50 for 6 pax. Slightly more expensive than normal dining restaurant but its pretty satisfying with the offering in the restaurant. Surely will come back again as there are a few dishes that I am looking to back for.

Remark: do note that this is a Fusion Thai restaurant as the taste might not be at your expectation as the taste had been tweak.

If you are looking for some nice Thai food, surely this would be my another recommended restaurant.

[Update: 1/5/2016 – now have move to SS2)

Damansara Uptown is famous for a eatery place whereby we can hunt a few nice place to eat with a great mix. One of the latest addition outlet to the area is this Private Kitchen that I have been told that they started off with small little privite dining and its popularity had grown then they have to operate into a shop. Hence Private Kitchen was the name and now is available in bigger space  with both ground floor and first floor (more for private functions or family gathering).

Private Kitchen (1)

I have travel to Hong Kong a few times and yet find something similar here. Hong Kong food is definately must not miss. Well this new discovery,Private Kitchen is no ordinary shop like those restaurant in shopping mall as they are offering more authentic home cook Hong Kong Cuisine. The man behind the master creation is Chef Lam with experience of more than 20 years on him. Being in Malaysia for less than 18 months, he had creatively come out with many unique dish to impress.

Private Kitchen (2)

A cosy dining area with wooden chairs with many pictures that resemble on Hong Kong that certainly makes you think you are in Hong Kong Restaurant.

Private Kitchen (3)

Private Kitchen (4)

Private Kitchen (5)

Chicken wings are well deep fried to golden brown, crisps on all edges, with mild spicy and salty at the end. A great way to start off our dinner.

Private Kitchen (6)

Follow by this delicious Smoke Duck with Mango. Juicy and chewy slice of smoke duck which is aromatic and blend well with light sour sweet mango, perfect! ‚Äď recommended

Private Kitchen (7)

I love my meal to start off with soup, and this double boil soup.

Private Kitchen (8)

Is just a great way to make our stomach warm. Boil along with pumpkin, pork and some other ingredient makes the soup sweet enough just as I like or its just me that love soup, any kind of soup is tasty to me. ūüôā

Private Kitchen (9)

As we all had the introduction of the meal, then we head to the next meal section which is their set lunch menu that I am totally jealous with most of the office worker working around the area. Set lunch start off with as low as RM 7.90 and below are some of the items can be found.

Hong Kong style steamed chicken in sand ginger powder noodle soup @ RM 9.50

Private Kitchen (11)

Finely chop ginger slices is one of the extra condiments that you must not miss out to pair with the chicken. I finish it and asked for another additional. Not too spicy ginger taste which had tone down and suits many people I think. Well, if you are not a ginger person its worth for you to give it a try.

Private Kitchen (12)

This is no ordinary steam white chicken. Been perfectly marinated and bath with ginger serve along with hot soup noodle is one of the way to satisfy your lunch. Soft tender chicken meat, with slightly fragrant sauce that blends well with the noodle soup. If I drink the sauce it will be too salty as it is not meant to drink that way. I pour the gravy into the soup it made it extra flavorful.

Private Kitchen (10)

noodle in the soup to pair with the chicken

Private Kitchen (13)

Noodles with mince meat & fried egg in tomato soup @ RM 7.50

Private Kitchen (14)

This is no ordinary instant noodle. Well, I often got scolded for ordering instant noodle at restaurant because of the pricing and its easy to cook. Sometimes I just crave for it and cant help it. This here is a must try. It look pretty ordinary or simple yet the hidden ingredient why I love it so much is they cook their own soup base with tomato and pork that makes it sweet enough (something like ‚ÄėLoh Shun Tong‚Äô) filled with mince meat and a simple sunny side up. Love the soup as its slightly sour tomato base and we just finish it within seconds as the instant noodle cook to springy. ‚Äď highly recommended

Private Kitchen (16)

If you love to have some pork, then you can opt for this Typhoon shelter noodles with Pork Chop in Chili and Garlic Soup @ RM 15

Private Kitchen (15)

Comes with deep fried pork as the side dish and noodle, perfect for raining weather at this moment.

Private Kitchen (18)

Stir Fried Pork Ribs with Rice @ RM 12.90

Sweet and soup pork ribs might looks ordinary, but this is a well balance taste, mild sweet and more pineapple sour taste as they cook along where you can buy chunks of pinapple. Deep fried pork are in cubes and soft that pairs well with the rice.

Private Kitchen (20)

Fried Rice Portuguese Style with braised pork belly & Seafood @ RM 16 is filled with wok hei and too bad that they don have sambal or chili oil to pair with. If not it would make it more outstanding.

Private Kitchen (21)

Private Kitchen Stir Fried Prime Beef Fillet with Strawberry Pepper Sauce @ RM28

Now lets head to more of its ala-carte menu. Begins with this is pretty unique dish with me, as strawberry is being used to cook along in this dish.Cook till the gravy is well coated onto the beef, tender soft and juicy with mild pepper spicy after taste makes it a great dish for me.

Private Kitchen (22)

Something creamy and palatable then go for this one of my favorite for the night, Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Special Salad Sauce @ RM32. Me and Ken just enjoying this dish by just munching it half a plate with it well coated salad sauce, sweet and slightly creamy that make it appetizing.

Private Kitchen (23)

Creating your taste bud dancing, Stir Fried Squids with vermicelli   in Special Chili Sauce is next to hunt for. YOu have to eat it pretty fast and if not, the vermicelli will soak the soup pretty instantly. Soup taste of it is pretty amazing lime, sour spicy and squid is just fresh, chewy bouncy as I like. RM 28

Private Kitchen (24)

oh oh, this dish is pretty Hong Kong style as Portuguese Style Baked Chicken Chop @ RM 18. Slightly can taste on powdery ginger curry taste which definitely relates back to HOng Kong dish as the chef hvae slightly change the ingredient as he mention the ingredient here is pretty good and the base of it is potato is amazing. -Recommended when you have your rice.

Some of you might find the curry slightly powdery but that is what Hong Kong curry taste like. ūüėČ

Private Kitchen (25)

I know I am being called taufulou, yet this is another amazing by the chef. Crispy fried Tofu with Salt & Pepper @ RM 16

Private Kitchen (26)

The chef have made the toufu so delicately soft that nearly melts on your tongue  with crispy base outside with light after taste of pepper and the bite of it taste as soft as taufufa. Is the chef special mixture to make it outstanding. If you have beer on your side, this would be the best option!

Private Kitchen (27)

another dish that was gone within seconds as the aroma of the spicy garlic trail on our nose that make it so tempting. Private Kitchen Typhoon Shelter Prawns with Chili & Garlic @ seasonal price. Huge succulent prawn being deep fried along with chili and garlic make this dish simple and nice.

Private Kitchen (28)

Any vegetable with pork, I am up for it. Private Kitchen Sautéed Chinese Chives with Dried Shrimp and Shredded Dried Cuttlefish @ RM18 is a well balance vegetable that comes with me, and the best part is the small little salted fish is crispy and the saltiness that bite after it with the vegie and pork.. ooo so hard to resit!

Private Kitchen (29)

End with this healthy herbal jelly. Not many people will like it but its something unique to end off with. I am okay with it and I believe my parents would love it.

I must say, this is one of the most impressive Hong Kong Restaurant that I have come accross and you do not know where to dine, this is one of a highly recommended restaurant in my list for Hong Kong Cuisine.

papajones (6)

Onion Rings. . .

papajones (8)

Hawaiian Pizza.

papajones (9)

Their signature chicken Wings.

papajones (10)

papajones (11)

Baked cheese rice.

papajones (12)

at the end of the meal I can just pay off with my B Card Points that I have collected so far. It is like a accumulation of points that change it to credits that its convenient to use and carry.

There are quite a number of buffet steamboat restaurant in the market but how many of them are actually value for money and nice? Well, during CNY week, we were lazy to cook ourselves and there is a change of plan on changing restaurant as most of them decided to give it a try on this Umami Steamboat buffet with all you can eat that located right at Sunway Mentari.

A restaurant that will cater many people that they have actually taken up about 2 shoplot that offer lots of space.

Umiya (1)

Their business is quite good as when we left all the tables outside were taken out.

Umiya (2)

For me I still prefer to have my steamboat inside with some air condition if not I will be drench in sweat.

Umiya (3)

An advantage of this outlet is that they do offer bbq section with chicken wings. . .

Umiya (4)

BBQ Seafood like crab, sting ray, satay, prawns and squid.

Umiya (5)

Umiya (6)

Umiya (7)

On the inside for you to choose to hammer inside your soup base quite a selection of fish ball. . .

Umiya (8)

noodles and the usual item that we have.

Umiya (9)

Umiya (10)

Seafood lovers this section certainly is your choice with many types of seafood for you to choose from.

Umiya (11)

Umiya (12)

cold platter

Umiya (13)

Some mini buffet pan fried section . .

Umiya (14)

Fried stuff. . .

Umiya (15)

Best of all also you get to have free flow of slice meat which is my favorite

Umiya (16)

There are 5 soup base for you to choose from . . .as was told by one of the staff that Fish Head soup is one of the preferred by customer.

Umiya (17)

We tried on the Tom Yam Soup and Umami Chicken soup. Both of the soup turns out to be better than alot of places that we have tried before. . .

Umiya (18)

As for desert they do have jelly and Ice Cream to offer you  . .

Overall, with about total RM30 per head I find it quite okay on pricing and quality. If you ask me to choose, I would opted for other choices but if you plan to have a great steamboat range, Umami can be one of the choice in my list as I have tried others which is much worst that I don bother even to blog about it.

On the up side, this outlet is pork free that I see a few malay families dine in here.

I am keen to try out another outlet in Wangsa Maju as I was told by a friend that they over a very good range and cheap too. Will arrange to go luuu . . .
