Although I studied in Melbourne for 3 years, neither did I know that Melbourne actually famous for Peking Duck. Then I went to Google about it and surpise to see that this outlet Melbourne Peking Duck is actually serve awesome Peking duck that written by many bloggers there. Quickly I watsapp my friend there, and she mention its a recent thing that got pick up over the past 3-4 years. Means it was after I left. Most of you studied there would know this restaurant Old Kingdom, that serve pretty good Chinese dish. Guess what? The master chef is here in this outlet preparing and coordinating all the dish here especially on his specialty Peking Duck.

MElbourne (1)

Now to those who are craving for Melbourne Peking Duck you need not take 747 all the way back there as they have just arrive in KL that started operate right about 2 weeks. The restaurant operate right in the heart of Bangsar or I would say directly opposite Alexis, Bangsar.

Easily to be located and the sign board already very prominent to capture your attention.

MElbourne (2)

As I went up here, the restaurant is still under its final touch as for now on 90% complete.

MElbourne (3)

this is what I meant 90% complete as the final 10% touch up are decorations in the outlet.

MElbourne (4)

I find that the price are pretty reasonable especially with Peking Duck set. With RM 78  you get a peking duck with 3 more dish conversion or RM88 with additional dish. Set 2 definitely capture my attention more.

MElbourne (5)

Chili paste taste awesome is something that you must not miss to add into your fried noodle or even into your peking duck roll.

MElbourne (6)

Here came our order that, the duck neck is long it shows that the duck is roast by hanging. Its shinny skin and roasted smell of the duck   distract our attention in take picture of the duck. Smells so good~

MElbourne (7)

As the crispy duck is ready to be skin, we cant wait to grab a piece of the skin and directly put it into our mouth.

MElbourne (8)

The master chef is here, we are proud to have him back as, at first thought I thought he is from China that resides in Australia. Well, all of us are wrong that he is actually a Malaysian with more than 10 years experience working in a famous restaurant for peking duck also stayed in Melbourne for more than 10 years.

As the chef cut thru the skin, can see moist fats oil oozing out from the meat. Saliva dripping.

MElbourne (10)

Here are the fine cut with sligtly cut meat along and ready to be wrap around. I quickly throw one piece into my mouth, I can sense that more peking duck is calling my name. 😀

The difference between the ducks that I previously had over a restaurant last week (click here) are, Melbourne Peking Duck cut with meat are slightly thicker and fats on beneath the skin just perfect.

MElbourne (11)

Then we were thought how to wrap on the chinese pancake along. Not only that, their pancake is home made fresh in the kitchen upon ordering as you can still feel its steamy hot, and have to quickly do the wrapping while its warm.

Lay the cucumber and spring onion on your 3 o’clock direction, add on your prefered amount  of sweet hoisin sauce, follow by laying the duck skin atop, fold half from 9’oclock to 3 o’clock direction and fold both ends together.

MElbourne (12)

Tadaaa…simple and easy to eat. The taste of crispy skin and duck meat along with the sauces just burst with flavours inside my mouth and I love the taste of the pancake. Think yet aromatic, pairs well with the peking duck. We end up having 2 duckie.

MElbourne (13)

As the duck is being slain, do not miss out duck drumstick. Moist meat with crispy skin on edges, dipping along with the sauce is just perfect.

After we have clear all the skin on the duck, what happen to the meat. Well, remember the set I was mention, it was then further slices the meat out to cook along with other dishes as below:

MElbourne (14)

As we were half full then we ordered Fried pork

MElbourne (15)

Salted Egg Yolk with Butter Chicken.
Buttery butter, balmy chili leaves ,with extremely light and thin ‘egg filament’ .

MElbourne (16)

Stir-fry beansprout with shredded duck meat. I prefer this is something light for me, yet this is the first time I came across bean sprout fried along with duck meat. Turns out to be pretty good.

MElbourne (17)

Homemade Tofu with fish meat

MElbourne (18)

MElbourne (19)

Another well cook dish is Shredded Duck Meat Fried Rice. Fragrant with ‘wok hei’ and the chili paste I mention, just bring the extra flavour out of it.

MElbourne (20)

Shredded Duck Meat Fried Flat Noodle. Stir-fry with dark soy sauce, loads of crunchy bean sprouts and shredded duck meat. We were so full when this dish came. Underestimate the make over of the duck.

MElbourne (21)

One of my favourite of all, its a very different version on the salty veggie duck soup I had as this bends towards more mild taste as after all heavy weight being serve first, this retaurant serve the soup in opposite direction. Its at the end. Something mild and nice to close off my appetite.

As last 2 week I also had peking Duck in another restaurant (click here) and here I am again to hunt for another good one. Verdict, this 1 stood out better.

The restaurant is newly operated do give a restaurant a month or 2 to improve on their dishes. If you are looking for nice Peking Duck, no doubt that this is one of the restaurant to hunt for. Good for you guys that stay nearby there. Recommended on their Peking Duck.

An island up in the north, which is rich with heritage and famous for its food, who does not know this island Penang? Well, one thing cannot be denied that, after a few areas have got awarded as UNESCO heritage area. . tourism industry had push up to another level, with a mark on the map by knowing its one of heritage spot! Nostalgie Cafe

[UPdate: No Longer in Operation]

Nostalgie (1)

Good thing is this heritage area had attracted many tourist and many pre-wedding photoshoot had taken place with amazing work from many photographers along with many new cafe’s and boutique hotel bustling up around the area, one of the most recent place we found is this little family operate cafe, Nostalgie Cafe that stood alone in Steward Lane, which is just directly across Muntri Street.

Nostalgie (2)

All the operates in the area have their very own catchy name, not to be surprise that Nostalgie actually come by from French which evolve from the word Nostalgia with the meaning of yearning for the past. As this place is know with its rich heritage, therefore this word been chosen that preserve the whole building outlook and do with a bit more touch up to bring back the look and feel of the place.

Nostalgie (3)

Its like many cafe around the area and every cafe have their very own style preserving the whole building, and I must say this outlet is one of my favourite, as they did it with different style. A bit of art, antique which is a combination of east and west combination. Why is that so? Below is running operate cafe and upstairs is a boutique hotel which expected to be complete by Febuary 2012 and there are already people book the place. I got a chance to preview the place and its nice without completion yet. 😀

Back to my question, why is that so and with following pictures you will understand. . .

Nostalgie (4)

The cafe is operated with chinese antique where the family really put in efford and import it back from China on a certain furniture. .

Nostalgie (5)

This is the running cafe area . ..

Nostalgie (6)

and this is what I mean a touch from the West with classic art paintings been put up on the wall . .

Nostalgie (7)

Nostalgie (8)

Nostalgie (9)

Nostalgie (10)

A glimpse for the room upstairs .. . 😉

Nostalgie (11)

Nostalgie (12)

Right in the middle, they have a mini garden  . ..

Nostalgie (13)

Nostalgie (14)

and this is how people enjoying the place, a classic touch with a bit of simple contemporary design to make it very comfortable to chill for a morning. They are just a very friendly couple~

Nostalgie (15)

As the cafe are moving forward, soon to be they will have many drinks to be introduce into the menu which is coming soon~

Nostalgie (16)

On a hot sunny day, you would not want to miss this 2 drinks which is Ice Lemon Tea @ RM 5 & Cranberry Longan @ RM 9. Which is really a thirst quencher.

Nostalgie (17)

If you are a Lime drink lover, try not to miss this as not many places can serve nice Lime Juice drink and the colour and tone of the drink already tell, made fresh~

Nostalgie (19)

The menu is pretty simple as the have spaghetti, pizza and sandwich, the rest are drinks~ Food range are more like Italian homecook!

Nostalgie (23)

A simple dish to start off with Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawns @ RM 24, taste is light with olive oil and well coated along the spaghetti,  sprinkle upon some cheese powder on top that serve along with two huge prawns. . .

Nostalgie (21)

a meal that cook with their very own homemade sauce is Spaghetti Marinara with Prawns @ RM 24,   sourish in taste with the tomato sauce well coated on which is not too dry and by the time you finish the whole plate, there are little sauce that left on the plate that makes it look like you have lick it off~

Nostalgie (22)

Fettuccine Carbonara with Turkey Bacon @ RM 21, as not many people can take too creamy taste as that’s one of my favourite, a bit salty with bacon that cook along, and enough cream to make it as I prefer.

Nostalgie (24)

The star of the day is this Chicken and Feta Cheese Pizza @ RM 28, a home made base dough which you can see the chef roll in the kitchem that comes with the crust not too thick nor thin which is just perfect! Rich in feta cheeze taste and the flavor is a bit more strong, and a bit sourish with the cherry tomato that makes it blend so well. – Recommended!

Nostalgie (25)

A pizza which is generous with prawns is this Prawns and Chili Pizza @ RM30  that you can see each slice of pizza comes with decent size of prawns. This pizza bends towards more on sourish size because of its tomato base~

Nostalgie (26)

Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich @ RM 14

Nostalgie (27)

Sandwich lovers, you must not miss this with its fluffy homemade bread daily on a very limited bread available that once sold out, you have to come back the next day. I love the bread so much and the chicken is perfectly grill that make it a great sandwich to start your day off. – Recommended!

Nostalgie (28)

Under desert menu, this is the supper star or known as the cafe’s signature cake, Carrot Cake @ RM 12. This cake is also made fresh daily and one of the best seller in the outlet. Often get sold out over the day very fast, and some of the customers even come a few rounds for this cake. The cake is huge enough to feed for 2 person and if you are a cake lover like me, once slice is just perfecT! Its rich in ingredient, that every bite is filled with walnut and add on with a bit of raisins to sweeten it a bit. The cake is not too compact yet its a bit bouncy when you bite on it. A cake that I prefer, soft and not too sweet~

Nostalgie (29)

Chocolate Brownies with Walnuts are a bit on the bitter side because of the chocolate used, and some of you might not used to it. They are not dry, very moist and with chocolate sauce added on makes it even better. RM10

Nostalgie (30)

White Coffee @ RM 5 and Black Coffee @ RM 4

If you are coming to this outlet for dining, my recommendations is do not miss their pizza and sandwich, as their spaghetti taste are more towards authentic taste, therefore some people might find the taste a bit bland or sourish.

Its a good thing to see another cafe pop up around the area, one set back of this outlet is there are very limited parking space around the area, as you can park in the small lane oppsite the cafe or you have to park nearby area with just about 3 minutes walk by strolling down this rich heritage area`

Now they also have special Christmas Menu in da house check it out and make your reservations:

One place that we have been talking for months that Ken keep mentioning how good this place was till I tak boleh tahan and request to go but for the last round we head here, it was half way through as it was bloody jam after the Shah Alam Klang Toll. Till few weeks ago, I mention again and directly Ken agree and we drive all the way to Klang just to hunt for one particular restaurant that served Fried Chicken, Ayem Percik and Yao Yao Ping. Kedai Makanan & Minuman Yao Yao Ping

Based on the crowd and people, this place is famous to its neighbourhood and during public holiday draws crowd as far from other states, as I were here on weekend, I find that this place is more like a family gathering as it draws those family with their young children. As I understoond, kids love Friend Chicken, so am I when I was a kid escially I would just go for only Drumstick.

KfC

It was an old kopitam that located some where in Klang Valley as Ken knows the way as he is a regular customer there.

KfC (2)

One thing to start off with is that, I must order this Yao Yao Ping and Mango flavour @ RM1.50-RM2 is the best among all. Ken and Andrew directly order 2 glass each and me, since they order that, I decided to try out other flavour.

KfC (3)

Ayam Percik being grilled and served hot top on with their own special gravy.

KfC (4)

KfC (5)

KfC (6)

Besides their speciality, we get to choose an option of Ham, Hotdog, Crab – China Hamburger and popiah too.

KfC (7)

Do not expect the place to be air condition but consider the style of it, it is considered clean already.

KfC (8)

Then I start off with my China Burger – Ham that taste much better than the ones available in pasar malam, which is not that oily yet the big slice of ham is there.

KfC (9)

Then here comes their signature in the house, ‘Fried Chicken’ @ RM2-RM3.50 as I start off mine with two drumstick, then Ken and Andrew asked me seriously! “Are you sure that two is enough for you?” I said might be, then they said don siau la..where got enough. . . .

KfC (10)

This is the reason why they ask me a serious question as this is their portion. After finish my two drumstick, I ended up ordering another 4 more pieces which is two thigh and two wings. I would say, this is one of the best fried chicken that I have tasted so far with the skin is crips, hot, aroma with those kind taste that the meat in it is soft and juicy. Dip with the available normal chili sauce is good enough!

KfC (11)

This is my Yao Yao Ping as I mixed it with two flavour, ‘Red Bean and Asam Boi’ both taste good but under this hot weather and after I ate those fried stuff, Asam Boi stands out more as it is more refreshing and I love the sourness of it.

KfC (12)

Then there is one kid ordered this, all mix. I just wonder how it taste.

For this kind of environment with the food quality like that total damage for my share around RM11 with drinks and Chicken is quite good, sure I am a satisfied customer. If you ever do food hunting in Klang, just do not miss this great Friend Chicken and Yao Yao ping, just be here early before 1pm to get the Mango, as I finish and want to ta pau the Mango Flavour, its all sold out and the rest are available. Next great taste is Watermelon and Asam Boi. A Recommended place by me.

karate_kid

Genre: Action/ Drama/ Family/ Sports

When I saw this movie preview, it instantly hit me with the old movie of Karate Kid with that Japanese Master teaching the guy in winning the competiton. It was one of my favourite movie when I was a kid and I watch it over and over again~

I guess this new movie would be a remake of that version that featuring Jackie Chan one of the famous in Kungu fighting.

The movie is about a kid Dre Parker had move to China with his mom because of work. In the new school he got bullied by a group of young Chinese kid who practice Kung Fu, till Jackie Chan came by and help the boy and decided to take him as him as his apprentice. From there, he train him the knowledge of all Kung Fu to fight the boy and win in that competition.

After the movie, me and my friend thought of instead calling it Karate Kid (which did not involve anything about Karate) should name it Kung Fu Kid instead.

Anyway, we did enjoy the movie and turns out to be quite a nice movie too. thanks to Xin for the movie ticket. . .

Overall ratings 7.5/10, Quite okay movie~ ~~~

– The movie rated by me is by my own personal preference. Watch it at your own risk –

Genre: Action/ Adventure/ Comedy

Current Chinese movie is mostly on China’s history. On Ming and Qing dynasty, I would say that, this would not be the best Jackie Chan film that I find it very boring.

Just watch it during movie day or just grab a dvd lah~
