cny 2023 price

Golden Phoenix restaurant has long held a reputation for culinary excellence since its inception in 1974.
Much like its mythical namesake, the restaurant has gained legendary status for its celebrated
Cantonese and Szechuan fare.

Chef Choy Sin Sang has been instrumental in continuing the Golden Phoenix legacy for many years. An
alumnus of Selangor Ching Wu School, Chef Choy studied the art of dim sum making at the Taiping Tea
House before working at his first hotel in 1957. He joined the original Equatorial Hotel in 1973, where he
has since ensured that the food from the Chinese kitchen is of the highest calibre and authenticity. It is
with great pride that EQ recreates the Golden Phoenix in all its glory every Lunar New Year.
This year, we invite you to savour a magnificent showcase of classic and beloved oriental creations with
a unique and contemporary twist.

A bit of twist of flavour. Steamed moontail grouper with green lime and garlic chilli sauce Waking up your palate with sourish thai syle flavours. Done to perfection as it is not too sourish yet garlic is not overpowering. Having a Fish on the table also signifies lots of Surplus or abundance. Year year got 魚 (yú).

Just look at the thickness and silkly texture of the gravy. From this already know that it is made with alot of effort and will be pack with flavour. The creaminess of gravy is indeed flavourful and abalone is cook right. Not to rubbery and a dish that gives you a nice chew and crunch. The cabbage soak on the gravy that gives you  a light burst of flavour when you chew on it. Love it. Sliced abalone with sea cucumber, dried oyster, sea moss, and Chinese cabbage

Chynna at Hilton (13)

The perfect ending is with Double Boiled Almond Cream with Gum Tragacanth (also known as peach gum) and premium Musang king dessert. It is only once a year. When it comes to Chinese New Year, company, family and friends gathering is hard to avoid. It really depends how deep you would like to dig into your pocket for once a year for this. For a pork free restaurant, Lai Po Heen is top in my list where one of my favourite Chef, Chef Ricky do cook awesome Chinese food.

Yee Sang on the table had become a tradition for many of us that all of us believe tossing yee sang brings you luck, prosperity, good fortune and health. As for this year, there will be 5 yee sangs available, Sliced Abalone in Thai dressing, Yellow Fin Tuna and Salmon, Soft Shell Crab and Snow Pear, Salmon and Assorted Vegetables as well as Assorted Vegetables and Shredded Fruits in Sesame Dressing. Available for lunch and dinner, from RM138 nett to RM488 nett.

Lai Po Heen (3)

I have tried a few and I could say, by far this is one of the best Yee sang that have yellow fin tuna and salmon. The gravy that they made themselves is unique and blends well.

Lai Po Heen (4)

Love their Double-boiled abalone soup and sea cucumber with morel mushrooms and maca. They have different ingredient in it that makes the soup aromatic, yet clear that gives a boost to body where it is nourishing and good for fertility.

Lai Po Heen (6)

This is a clever mix for a simple slice of fish that opted with yin yeong. Steamed Omega rich grouper with chopped chilli paste and ginger parsley paste. One is mild spicy and one which is more spicy. Fish are fresh and a well balance of taste.

Classic dish would be this corn fed chicken that is marinated and poached, topped with finely grated ginger and spring onion.

Lai Po Heen (9)

This is a nice presented crafted dish wok fried Ming prawn with fragrant chilli paste was beautifully presented in a lantern as well as dainty butterflies carved out from carrots.

Lai Po Heen (10)

Lai Po Heen’s CNY “Fatt Choy” sun dried seafood pot features indeed a “fatt” dish where they serve with large fresh scallops, abalone, fish maw, mushroom and pak choy. I love the broth, as it is slightly thick and fragrant.

Lai Po Heen (11)

healthy grain rice which is fried with golden pumpkin and sea treasure consisting of prawn, dried oyster and dried scallop.

Lai Po Heen (13)

To end the meal, chilled osmanthus jelly with crunchy water chestnut cake indeed is wobbly as you shake onto the plate, light in taste and definitely refreshing for palate.
