Right after Christmas what is next festive season we have in line? Thaipusam will be kicking off first then follow by Chinese New Year. I am sure many of you arleady see those big malls are busy preparing decorations for you guys to photoshoot for Toh Yuen.

Not only that, all F&B, restaurants are all busy preparing special menu for all of us out there. Toh Yuen at PJ Hilton is coming up with Fortune Menu, Happiness Menu, Longevity Menu and Propensity Menu, that is priced at RM988++, RM1188++, RM1388 and RM1688++ respectively for each table of 10 pax.

Lou Sang in Chinese Tradition is a must which signify toss of luck, health and prosperity. Not only that, that salmon fish is use to symbolize life and longevity.

The sauce are slightly sour end with sweet taste of mango, pineapple and dragon fruit. Something which is easy to start off with as most of the restaurant have different sauces for Yee Sang.

When the waiter open up the cover of the pot of Braised Baby Abalone with Dried Seafood Soup, I was like wahhhh, so rich in ingredient yet its double boil. Something to look for and the light smell of it entrails my nose that I just cant wait to get a sip of it.

Look at the ingredient that they have, with huge abalone dried scallops,  fish maw, herbs and black chicken.

A soup that truly come to my liking that is clear yet aromatic.

Braised Sea Cucumber with Mixed Mushrooms and Sun-dried Scallops. A bowl of rice is needed for this. Top with gravy on top of it and just pairs well with broccoli was boil well not too soft and sea cucumber is soft enough.

Half Half… Roast Chicken, Smoked Duck with Dragonfruit Sauce and Vegetable Crackers. Smoked duck is aromatic and very well prepare that the dragonfruit dressing just add a simple and light taste of it yet smock duck taste still there. Its a dish that shall not miss and roast chicken I just love the skin.

when I look at the menu, this dish definitely caught my attention, especially anything in cod, I would put extra attention cuz I just love cod. Deep Fried Canadian Cod with Honey Sauce comes with huge cube of fresh cod and fried well on the outer layer with cod meat is warm inside, that pairs well with the sauce. I didnt enjoy it slowly, I put in the whole cube into my mouth and let it burst with flavour.

Sauteed Fresh Sea Prawns with Wasabi Mayo and “Sakura Denbu” is nearly juicy and I just wish I have extra wasabi mayo to dip on, then it would have been another perfect dish.

By the time reach this dish we were already surrendering, it looks little but its actually very filling. Then Steamed Glutinous Rice with Sun-fried Oysters, Salted Egg Yolk and Chicken Paste was well prepare and the colour of it already attracted us. At first the girls next to me was planing come lets take one and share 3 portion ended up the take 1 each. Its good, filled with flavour of the leave and salted egg that makes the extra kick of it. Glutinous rice was well cook and steam that just makes it a perfect ending.

Many of the modern Chinese family do not really cook at home any more for reunion dinner and surely this is one of the restaurant to consider.

Usuallly during Chinese New Year, there are nothing much to do in the afternoon besides visiting friends and family houses.. . . .As this year in cinema there are quite alot of Chinese New Year Movie and took the opportunity to watch it  . .. . .

Singaporean movie usually will be a must watch movie for me, with their language which they use and combination of action is seriously funny. This round Jack Neo had combine a few main cast including our local celebrity Ah Niu in the latest comedy flick, Homecoming.

The movie is about a our Chinese Tradition that during the Eve of Chinese New Year would be our reunion dinner and mentioning how important it is for all family members during this date, as with the modern young adults they do not like the tradition. This movie trying to educate back the importance of family bonding during the eve of the tradition.

This movie, you prepare to laugh from the start till the end. Seriously damm funny and highly recommended movie by me.

This movie is acted by most of the TVB crew that form up this ‘I Love Hong Kong movie’. Another comedy flick for Chinese new year that talk about, Hong Kong very own neighbourhood lifestyle that they would want to preserve it that shows the harmony and how lifely and corporative it is for this neighbourhood.

I find this movie so so only, maybe like my friend said, it’s a logic comedy . . so I find it so so only.. .

Louis Khoo most of the time in the movie are quite ‘mou liew’ that team up with Donnie Yen, Chapman To, Angelababy which are quite my favourite actor to come up this movie ‘All’s Well Ends Well 2011’.

The movie is about how they change their character to earn their living in the competitive market in beauty line as professional make up artist. A really funny movie to watch as I enjoy it. . . .

By the title itself you will already know that it is a comedy flick with Sandra Ng and Louise Khoo together. It is about two of them with superhero ability that had retired for 10 years and find it quite boring. In order to get a baby they need to find excitement and decided to go out their old super hero style. Things get even more excited when there is an evil guy that posses with super evil power with the ability to suck their power that make it into his.

It is a bit mou liew but quite okay ah . ..

Genre:Thriller/History/Action

One of my all time favourite actor Andy Lau feature in this latest movie ‘Shaolin’ with Nicholas Tze that shows how they fight against other clan to show their territory and how great they are until Nicholas Tze turn his back against Andy Lau. After the death of his daughter, he regretted his action previously and decided to become monk and join Shaolin. In order to protect all the monk, he willingly to sacrifice himself and they are touch by his action they team up to attack against the army.

While watching this movie, be prepare some tissue to wipe away your tears, as there are a few touchy moments. A great movie to watch . . .

To usher the upcoming year of Tiger, for Chinese traditions, most of the working or business people will usually head for a close meal dinner (Sau Gong Chou) to end with the year great effort and best of all and also after during the Chinese New Year will have another dinner Open Dinner (Hoi Gong Chou) to wish every 1 had a prosperous new and great year ahead and of course this is one of the Halal Chinese Restaurant.

For me, this year would be the very first time I lou sang in such a early mood and with the Chinese new Year music background really stir up the mood in such a modern Chinese classic contemporary restaurant.

When I look at the menu, I got all excited about the dish that going to get serve. In Tai Zhe Heen, the food here had always been in top notch with their quality of serving and the taste of it.

Of This would be my very very first time lou sang in such a early mood (1 month earlier) that starts our meal of the night with ‘Ying-Yang Yee Sang’ (Tuna and Salmon Roulade).

For Chinese tradition that, during the process of lou sang you have to wish something you want and the higher you lou, the chances of your dreams or wish will come true on that year or more like prosperity, health and wealth for the year as that is what I have been thought.

I just love the soup and it was awesome that with the thick soup base that rich with flavor eat a whole slab of sharfin, fish moe and mushroom is in it. I would happily to ask for another bowl if I do have the chance.

Awwww….. it has been a while since I had eaten ‘Steamed Cod Fish with Pickled Radish and Garlic in Supreme Soy Sauce’.

As this dish came, we were asking Ricky (the person that serve us) keep saying, I want big big portion 1 ah, I want to be special abit, all of us were fighting for bigger piece of it and of course he being the gentleman, girls get bigger piece~ and after finish our portion we were aiming on next table wonder could tax on their portion a not…

The texture of the fish meat is absolutely soft, yet it will melt into pieces when put into your mouth, sign of freshness and the soy sauce is just perfect to go along with it which is not very salty. (only get to know that its imported cod)

In Chinese custom, fatt choy is often use in the dishes as Fatt means prosperity.. so that makes ‘Braised Dried Oysters with Fatt Choy, Mexican Soy Clams, Sea Cucumber and Wok Fried Greens’.CNY Tai Zhi Heen (16)
‘Braised Duck with Dried Fish Maw and Scallops’ Cook to soft succulent duck meat top with my favorite scallop as I can just wallap this whole plate by myself.

One of my favorite of the night ‘Deep-fried Batter-dipped Prawns Tossed with Fresh Lime Dressing’.

Sweet, chewy, big prawns that cook to perfection left with the shell on the tail for you to take as I keep licking the sauce of out the skin and ate it with satisfaction with the sauce abit salty egg taste with butter and lime is just something I wish I have the whole basket.

‘Fried Rice with Seafood and Baby Abalone’ filled with wok hei and baby abalone is rich in taste. Something for the first time I ate with baby abalone(chewy and delicious which is not too dry after fried.)

Usually in such environment, a desert is a must, to end with ‘Double-boiled Hasma with Red Dates and Glutinous Rice Dumplings’. Not too sweet filled with softness of the rice ball which is chewy that will melt after a while to swallow and with the meaning of reunion (as what tong yuen means)

We were all very satisfied with the Chinese New Year menu and it is absolutely great for those corporate people to host the end year dinner here with such a nice ambiance and good foood.

An inspiration from the Chinese tradition cluture with the weight of flower symbol keeping the Chinese legacy of a dream come true in the modern world. Combination of taffeta and Thai silk material with sparkling diamonds and the beads with rich embroidery work brings love, adoration and unity to those who wear it.

Let me present you, Chef Ricky Thein Yiew Ming’s that will be presenting us his signature Cantanese Cuisine.
We were given a glimps of the Starters and mains.

Crispy yam puf with foie gras and minced chicken
– Crispy on the inside out, filled with yam and the taste of foie grass just melts in it.
Shredded beef with dried tangerine peel
– a very soft and tender piece of beef being covered and the taste of it just travels.
Wok-fried prawn with Asian tomato and black sesame dressing
-something very normal but it had cook to the best quality of it. I like the taste of it. simple and nice.

-something unique which I have not tried before.
Follow with starter :
A duo of duckling and organic yin choy broths with sun-dried seafood, prawn and hairy gourd.
– The best of the best I have tasted. Mild thickness yet excellent soup taste that gives you the feeling of it had been cook for hours before it was served. I just walap within seconds to finish it.
Jeng Jeng Jengggg…commercial break. heee..It was the time that most of us stand up and get busy with our gadgets by aim and shot.
Main Course is someothing that we are aiming on.
Citrus marinated rack of lamb roasted with white sesame seeds, wok-fried bby cabbage, fresh lily bulbs and a spicy minted plum sauce.
– the meat is soft yet juicy from inside out. Was cook medium rare which I preffered it the most and spicy minted sauce just added the extra kick in it.
Main Course is someothing that we are aiming on:
Honey and soya baked salmon with fragrant crab roe, soya beans, bored beans, honshimeji mushrooms and wolfberry sauce.
– very soft and fresh piece of salmon, cook with perfection and we were looking for another piece.
Noodle is what it came next. Dan mee with soy braised beef carrot, raddish and leak topped with a spalsh of red wine.
– I got a bit shock when got to know that spoon is wine which I tought it was vinegar. Doutb to try it at the moment but once try, you are just eating the whole thing within seconds. Great combination of taste that makes the wine bubbling in your mouth.
To make a great memorable night, of course desert is a must ‘Tai Zi Heen Desert Tim Sum’
Chocolate whisky siew mai – very unique in taste, yet soft in the inside and roll it with the chocolate syrup add the kicks in.
Vanilla Ice cream with fresh mango puree, sago and pomelo – something not so sweet yet refreshing.
Crispy water chesnut spring roll – something simple with the extra touch.
A great dinner, of course we have to ask the Chef to take pic, a person who is really camera shy till most of us force him.

A collaboration that they are doing with the art of fashion, wine, and food is a blast. Surely its gonna be a great showcase at MIGF’09.

A night to be remembered for me, with great food and wine and new found friends. Surely a thanks to Shirley and Sidney. Guess now I have to come up with another team letter. Double S’s.. which I already have double K’s.
