It has been quite a while since I last step into Pavilion and I have read a few blog post that new restaurant opened on the 6th floor which looks pretty cool with its concept. Then few days ago, whereby, I came down to meet up my friend which had been quite long time since I last met her. Then I suggested this place Market Hall and she said not a bad place.

[UPdated Jan 2012: No longer in operations]

market hall (1)

I like their restaurant concept, which is similar to one of my favorite seafood restaurant when I was in Melbourne in Crown Casino.

market hall (2)

Right at the entrance they do sell other items more on Italian range and also some bottle drinks ..

market hall (3)

I like their concept with its simple contemporary rustic style, that place wooden tables and chairs, using chalkboard on the wall to draw what is the specials of the day.

market hall (4)

market hall (5)

market hall (6)

A very huge open concept kitchen and you will be amaze to see how many chefs and assistant are in there.

market hall (7)

Their pasta are made fresh daily or would say, when we place order then only they will prepare it ..

market hall (8)

Not only that, you get to choose the seafood too . .

market hall (9)

in the chiller, the desert looks tempting too . .

market hall (10)

market hall (11)

In the menu, they do offer more on the Italian side, with Risotto, pasta, pizza and others. . .

market hall (12)

Then comes by this complementary bread stick with salsa sauce I guess and its nice, soft loaf that prepare fresh and warm then dip with the salsa sauce is just perfect. Eat it while its warm.

market hall (13)

Then in the menu found this dish to be very unique ‘Tagliatelle – Fresh Salmon tossed in Vodka, citrus zest, and mascarpone cream sauce @ RM 32.90. For the price of this and the amount of small chunks of salmon in there is very generous, which I can say that every bite will filled with salmon. I love the taste of it , which is a bit sourish of the olive, and the sauce just coat on the tagliatelle which is fresh made. I love it .. – Recommended~

market hall (14)

Now days, I am hook with anything that state with blue cheeze ..  although not many people can accept the taste but if it is done well, the taste is super nice. Then I try out Market Burger Spicy Mayo, caramelise Onion, Bleu Cheeze @ RM 22.90

When it was served, my friend she kept laughing cuz it looks like baby’s diapers been wrap up and ready to throw away . .I was like ‘Oi..that’s my food ler’ . . . .

market hall (15)

I love this burger how it was done compare to other restaurant by using fluffy buns, and this the made it more like focassia bread that been toast on both side till the top is crisp’s and the butter just soak into the bun welly. The beef patty is home made by judging its compact meat and was cook medium well to my liking. The juicy sauce combines well with the taste with the burger doesnt make it too dry and the bleu cheeze was stuff in the middle of the burger that very mild in taste and make the aroma stood up and combines well. I enjoy this burger very much . .- Recommended~

market hall (16)

Then only I realise that the side entrance I used to see alot people queing up on weekend is a bar behind the restaurant which is called the Bedroom, more on foreign style too which I rate a bit of opera decor on the ceiling with comfy leather sofa and huge dance space.. I will sure come and check it out one weekend. .

I am quite satisfied with the food quality that they served in Market Hall and the service is not bad too, or I guess it was just weekdays whereby only a few dining tables were occupied. Anyway, I will return to try out their desert as I was full on that night. If you are looking for nice ambiance to hang out with friends, its a Recommended place by me ..

I guess recently I really eat a lot when I am not in KL, went back to Penang for a short trip to cover one event, then meet a few of my friends that I didn’t manage to meet during Chinese New Year and one of my best friend brought me to this place which I do love Yam Rice at Bukit Mertajam and which is one of her favorite stalls. I never came this far for this only in Chai Leng Park, Butterworth (click here on previous post).

This place is not that hard to find as you need to be very aware which turning to turn in, as the alley to tunr in here is very small . . .

All pork spare parts are available and see which part you like and ask them to boil for you into this ‘kiam chai’ soup.

More like a kopitiam style and its not very hot as they have  a few big fan on the wall to keep us cool . . .

To come till so far, yam rice is a must order as they rice is a bit dry as it needs to be and a few chunks of yam are in the rice, flavorful with a bit of dry shrimp taste too. The best is the soup, quite sour with the ‘kiam chai’ as it needs to be and the soup is not that clear and with sweet taste of all my favorite pork spare parts.

There are a few other mini side dish to order, my friend ask me to try on their ‘Tu Kar Chor’ which I find it nothing to shout about.

A must order is only the Yam Rice and mixture of pork spare parts into the soup.

If I do go back to Bukit Mertajam, it will be one of the stop I will be stopping by. Recommended

It was until recently that I went to this restaurant Social KL.

Social KL (1)

A new groovy place with a very cozy ambiance. . .

Social KL (2)

Social KL (3)

That we are seated just right in the middle of the dining area. Wooden floor and customise chairs and tables are specially design just to suit to their concept.

Social KL (4)

When I walked to the end of the dining area, I was suprise to see there is a huge wine area which they are the first restaurant that I come acrross to have this huge area and they sell it too. Variety of unique wines can be purchase and its going to be one of my hunting ground for wines.

Pan Mee no longer is a stranger to most of us and even some of you guys loving it with the original taste especially with the hand kneaded it out from the flour as that would be the authentic style, that I like  Ah Tee or Jojo Pan Mee. As now, more people are eating healthily, and I got so surprise that when I heard about this shop, House of Ceggo Food Station that located inside Taman Desa it’s a must go for me to try it out, with their unique preparation of soup base and cooking style of Pan Mee.

Ceggo

This shop is not hard to be located which is directly inside the whole stretch of shoplot.

Ceggo (2)

To me, the first feeling is more like those Hong Kong style cafe as what we seen in TVB with those push door and glass panel with two big chinese wordings on the glass panel.

Ceggo (3)

‘Lemon Grass Drink’ as I never really like the taste of the lemon grass but suprisingly the taste is not that strong as it taste quite fragrant and I end up having two glass of it.

Ceggo (4)

As I mention with those Hand Peeled or Hand Kneaded is one of the authentic way to prepare this Pan Mee but as the picture shown in the menu for the types of Noodle available, its quite cute for its description.

Ceggo (5)

Ceggo (6)

‘Fried Sui Kau’ Deep fried with solid mince meat, mix with small chunks of water chestnut, and some finely chopped spinach is good, crispy on the skin and dip with chili sauce is always the best.

Ceggo (7)

We start off with ‘Aunthentic Pan Mee’ which you can order with Hand Peel which is hand peeled from a big chunk of flour or

Ceggo (8)

Flat Rolled noodle as shown in the pictures.

Ceggo (9)

Next that got served, which really caught my interest is the ‘Tomato Pan Mee’ with most of the ingredient added on are the same which is anchovies, mince chicken meat, fried Tau Kee and the most important is the tomato soup base. Rich in flavor that create a bit thick milky taste and the noodle is perfectly cook, I just love it as it had the similar taste like Spaghetti Bolognese but appear in soup version – Recommended

Ceggo (10)

‘Ma Lat (Extra Spicy) Pan Mee’ that we got deceived by the fiery red colour of it and thought that it would be extremely spicy, but it turns out to be a bit of sour and spicy level which is not that Spicy to me and the rest.

Ceggo (12)

Another star of the night is ‘Pumpkin Pan Mee’ that I have always love pumpkin soup but now it had add in noodle and its not that milky and thick in taste as the soup serve purely in the restaurant as this had some modification that makes it blend very well with the soup base and the noodle. – Recommended

Ceggo (13)

If you are yam lover then you would want to miss their ‘Yam Pan Mee’ that used huge piece of yam cook inside the soup then cut into pieces to serve along with noodle and you just imagine, the yam fragrance and the soup did taste a bit ashy from the long boiled yam in the stove. Good Soup base I would say.

Ceggo (14)

Opt for something healthy or you dont feel well on that day, ‘Spinach Pan Mee’ is the one you are going after with finely chopped spinach that blend with flour and it is more like 80% pure of veggie in it that serve along with authentic soup base.

Ceggo (15)

‘Curry Chicken Pan Mee’ after shooting and it was gone in seconds. Thick Curry Chicken that pour upon the dry noodle that mix with black sauce just mix it very well, chicken is soft and juicy.

Ceggo (16)

‘Loh Pan Mee’ cook in the form of thick soup base, that do not taste very salty and a bit like shark fin soup taste but if you eat it pure the taste would not be that good, the trick is add in vinegar, it will pull up the taste and we add in the available vinegar given to us and finish fast.

Ceggo (17)

On that night it was Lionel Birthday and Sunny had prepared a Passion Fruit came for him.

Ceggo (18)

Lionel the happy guy for the night~ and of course it was a great discovery for us that we found a new nice place to eat and certainly I am going back for more that I would be recommending this place, as it is very reasonable in price starting from RM5.50 – RM9 per bowl.

Recently had rained alot, and my friends suggested us to go get something warm and nice. One of them is a big fan of pork lover and whenever he travels back to Malaysia, the first thing that came into his mind is…woiii, I need pork man.. I just need it. Then we headed to this makan this Zheng Jia Restaurant at Puchong is one of their favourite shop.

Bak Kut Teh (2)

This is one of the Bak Kut Teh shop that serve with ‘Yam Rice’ which is perfect to eat along with bak kut teh. The yam rice is not too dry in rice yet a few chunks of yam pieces in the rice. Quite flavourful with small dry shrimps.

Bak Kut Teh

The normal vegetable, nothing to shout about.

Bak Kut Teh (4)

I love my big pot of ‘Bak Kut Teh’ filled with all the pig spare parts, with intestine, liver, tail, pork piece, button mushroom and otheres. It looks like clear soup with light colour but it was cook well and taste good.

Bak Kut Teh (3)

Another thing which we would not miss is the ‘Dry Bak Kut Teh’ which they order purely on Roast Pork. It was cook in the claypot till the meat was soft and the dry taste had soak onto the meat and I just cant stop eating this.

Food of course meant to be enjoy but the catch is, I drink alot of water after an hour later. The sign of alot MSG added in.

This month is totally full of birthday, it comes in a row that now my pocket had got burn a big hole. First was my mom, then colleage, and 3 more friend and last and upcoming next week is my best friend Yeong. Usually I got kinda phobia when it comes to birthday which usually buy Secret Recepi cake and eat till want to vomit already. Its always those few flavours and then change to Beard Story or History cake which I cannot remember but it is located in the lower ground of Mid Valley in the center court as that shop do sell nice and cheap cakes.

Till then it came to my mind that why not I order a cake from a good friend of mine, Sunny which he had baking history of more than 15 years yet he did feature in newspaper a few times. I did try out his cake before and the taste does come to my liking which is one thing. Not too sweet. With the price about the same as secret recipe of course I do rather choose him over that shop.

For the very first order we did came up a prank as plan with Kebbie to give them a little surprise. Then called up Sunny and ask him is he able to do that cake or not. The response was a big YES and requested 3-D look alike with a few features, he also mention that 4-D also can loh….. Then both of us were very excited yet very curious how it is gonna look like.

Our very own design of ‘Walnut Cake’ in Ku Ku Ciau version, then the whole camwhore session involve and was told not to post any of the pics beside the ku ku ciau cake in the blog. If not I will die very terrible like terrorist plot and attack against you. Kekek.

The cake is good, moist enough which is not too dry yet when you bite on the cake, its soft and get to enjoy biting on the chunks of walnut.

Next a cake ordering is for Kebbie’s son, Hamburger which had turn to 1 years old. Lol, why hamburger is that the son is so cuteeee and so chubby that looks like Hamburger yet we do have another nick for him as he grow then will turn into whopper but every time we mention this, sure kena kick or walap 1 without this mischievous person we could not get a good laugh, Karen. The demon.

‘Pancake Marble Gauteaux’ consists of vanilla mousse, chocolate ganache, chocolate cake and end up with a thin layer of pan cakes which makes it very flavourful. All of us were attacking on that piece. The cake we moist and the flavour is there exactly what been made off. A cake that we would miss.

Florence order ‘Mango Moose Cake’ for our boss birthday. A carefull bend of the chocolate swirl that added on it with a few of the Macaron were requested as its good that taste something like cookie but its not.

The bosses got surprise when try on the cake as the were expecting the cake to be sweet but it does not as it suits to their liking. Most of them had more than 1 pieces and some even took more. For us we like it as it was build on with a layer of mango, a layer of sponge cake, a thin layer of moose and end up with a thin layer of icing. The mango were very sweet and blended well with the soft sponge cake. It was best to be eaten it cold as the flavor of mango was preserve. Surely we are going to get more order from Sunny in the future.

And thanks to Sunny from Bigboysoven for meeting up our fussy request and for cakes order they can be contacted at their website.
