A new discovery by my friend last round and they are so keen to bring me to this place that they said its one of the best for beef soup so far and before I fly back to KL we stop by this shop to have our dinner. Kang Beef House is easy to be located as its located nearby the junction of the triangular in Jelutong heading towards Perak Road on the left side.

Kang (1)

Upon walking into the shop near to this little stall, you can smell the fragrance of the soup trailing into the air that makes me instantly hungry and looking forward.

Kang (2)

Kang (3)

not only famous for their beef noodle, also famous for their Beef Steamboat which I would surely come back next round to try it out.

Kang (4)

The outlet is semi air condition as they use alot of chilling fan.

Kang (5)

Price here are very reasonable for a bowl of beef noodle.

Kang (6)

Ordered Crispy Beef Balls @ RM 5 which is quite normal & Deep Fried Beef Lobak with their own special seasoning and eat with chili is something good to kick start with @ RM 5

Kang (7)

Beef Noodle soup with all ingredients added in, from beef slices, beef cubes, beef balls and all other spare part. The soup is thick in flavour, very aromatic and little herbal light taste on the end and love the taste of radish sweet taste. – Recommended~

Kang (8)

Crystal Beef Fried Rice @ RM12.80 is something very unique. I mention unique as with the wording crystal and they actually fried something out with every bite is very crispy with very small tiny cube of crisp. Beef slice is soft and the rice fried with wok hei.

Kang (9)

Claypot Beef Soup @ RM 15 for 2 person with a mixture of beef slices and tendon. Love the soup as its more peppery spicy base with chili padi end that makes it very umph! – Recommended!

Kang (10)

Black Pepper Beef @ RM 15  small  is fried to perfection that the beef slice still soft and not over cook and black pepper sauce all well coated onto the beef slice.

Surely, this is one of the place to hunt for if you love beef noodle soup or steamboat to kill for. Will be back.

[Updated] 22/5/2016 after a reader inform me, this stall is called Wong Ji Bak Kut Teh and have moved with updated address as below.

Quite sometime ago, my best friend brought me to try out a bak kut teh stall that she find very good. Its quite a hidden one as travel all the way to mainland to try it out. One of the reason that she always told me that, have to be there early, cuz its often sold out if we arrive late. So this round we arrive at 6pm. I called it BM Pasar Bak Kut Teh.

bkt (1)

To locate this stall, its not hard nor easy, as its located along Bukit Mertajam wet market, nearby Pos Office. What you can do is either double park if you have the chance or park further behind or front and walk there. I was lucky that day to park by the road side next to the stall. One of the problem is that, the coffee shop doesnt have a name and you just have to drive pass slowly to locate it.

bkt (2)

Mostly they are doing neighborhood business which they do not cook it alot ..

bkt (3)

They have a few pots for you to choose if you do not know what you want, best of all is always go for a mixture of everything.

bkt (4)

One of the trick that make it so good is because they using charcoal to heat up the claypot that makes the taste extra umph. . not like those normal ones using gas stove to make it warm. . .

bkt (5)

Here is my pot of Bak Kut Teh Mixture. .  everything also masuk of all the pig spare part. .

bkt (6)

Quite like the taste of it, which is a bit strong on the herbs taste, yet not too thick and well prepared. Taste of the soup is much better I think its because using Charcoal to boil on it or its just my mind always have the impression using charcoal to cook stuff is always better. Price is pretty decent as for 2 pax is around RM18 with such generous amount of ingredient.

Well, I have visited this place a few times yet often forgot to ask the auntie what is their name of the stall. . .:d

Sometimes, when you crave for Bak Kut Teh, you need not drive all the way to Klang for your favorite stall, sometimes, some where nearby or some where in a commercial area will have a nice BKT shop that was until recently, we found new love for our BKT outing stall which is this Xingang Bak Kut Teh, that located a street away from Leisure Mall, Cheras.

bkt (1)

We were told that this restaurant serve authentic Klang homecook recipe Bak Kut Teh and immediately we arrange to drop by.

bkt (2)

It was Sunday late lunch, and there are quite a number of crowds here too.  As we sat down, the crowd start pouring in till near full house.

bkt (3)

Normal menu they have here, and one thing that caught our eyes was their pricing. I would say a bit cheaper compare to those places like Jalan Ipoh or KL area.

One unique thing in this shop is that, you can choose how your Bak Kut Teh to be served, can be either in Claypot or in glass bowl like those in Klang, pricing definitely will be slightly different as for me, I always prefer mine in Claypot.

bkt (4)

We ordered, Dry Pork Ribs mix with Trotter pot to start off with and its quite a surprise to me that they add in ladies finger in it. It was cook till quite dry, that the think soy sauce able to coat with the meat, and you have to stir it fast to prevent the meat from sticking at the side or base of the pot. Will be a very good companion to eat along with rice, as it is not too salty that just nice.

bkt (5)

Claypot Ribs @ RM 9 that served, just enough for me, if I am eating by myself, and by this time, I just cant wait to taste on their soup. The soup that definately comes to my liking, its a bit more strong in herbs taste that I have always like, and the soup is not too watery. Can just taste out that they use alot of pork ribs to cook along as the soup taste sweet too.

Best of all, the soup can be refill, and I had 4 bowls of the soup~

bkt (6)

One of my favourite that I would not really miss is pig’s spare part. ‘Intestine and Stomach’ @ RM 8 as I find it cheaply price with the generous amount of spare part that they gave me. I love the intestine, as its been stuff into multi layer style, just nice to chew and its wash till clean that do not have those weird taste.

bkt (7)

Claypot Big Bone @ RM 18, cook till the meat is soft and dip into my garlic chili with thick soy sauce is just perfect.

bkt (8)

Vegetable in Garlic Sauce @ RM 7

bkt (9)

Besides serving Bak Kut teh, they do have something special in da house with some of their dish are own creation and we try out their Apple Chicken which is something that I have never tried out before, deep fried first then shower with their own homemade apple sauce. Taste pretty unique, that have the sweetness of apple and crispy on the outer layer. I would say, worth to try~

bkt (10)

I am just so jealous of you that work nearby the area, as they do have set lunch for their Bak Kut Teh just for RM 9 that served along with Rice + Bak Kut Teh + Vege + Chinese Tea. Where to find this kind of promo wor, where usually I eat myself also easily cost RM13-RM16.

Well, this shop also do have steam fish, that I accidentally deleted that picture in my camera, which comes in 4 flavours, I did try out their garlic ginger steam fish, that I like how they did their own mixture and strong in garlic taste and ginger taste.

This place had add into my list of bak kut teh hunting place, and I would say, worth recommending to try out if you love those kind of soup base, a bit stronger in herbal taste, soup is also a bit thicker. Recommended place~

Remark: The dish have 3 sizes to choose from, pricing above is base on our order as some is medium, some is small.

After our sightseeing from Tangkuban Perahu, which a place to visit inactive volcano at Bandung, then on the way back to Bandung Town, my friend introduce this stall which is one of her favourite eatery place that I said I want to eat Local delights only. Bandung Food Hunt

Surabi Imut known as one of their local delights that origins from the West Java. On that side, this little snacks are only available in 2 flavours, sweet surabi and Surabi Oncom. Then the owner had modernise the taste of it and now in this outlet, around 27 flavours are available.

The process of making it is using small claypot to cook along and burn under hot charcoal.

These are the four flavours we orderd.

Chocolate Cheese and Milk @ RP 6000

Milk and Cheese @ RP 5500

Sausage, Chicken Special with Cheese

Banana Chocolate Milk @ RP 5000

Overall taste of it, it taste something similiar like my favourite Apom Manis in thicker version, with a bit salty base baked till brownish on the outer layer then add in your favourite toppings. The star among those 4 are the chocolate milk cheese. That taste super good!

Next destination of eating, we were brought to a very hidden area, that have to walk through this small alley to reach the little warong. If you love pork, then this is one of the place you must visit that has no menu, only served 1 kind of food.

It is better to be seated outside here with the mini bar counter style its because inside is too smokey already with its poor ventilation when they are bbq’ing the pork!

My friend told me that, it used to be a very run down place, and they old area caught fire, then now they have renovated it a bit to more modern warung style. It is packed with alot of people during lunch time.

In the set,you will be giving their sour soup, special blend green spicy chili to sqeeze along with a lime. and the unique dressing for the pork is this thickend pig blood.

Here comes our porky for the day. Deep fried till the outer layer is cripsy with their own homemade spices ingredient, pork meat is soft and with even fats in between then my friend doesnt like the pig blood, so did not pour it in ..  The difference is that when add in pork blood, the meat is more moist n juicy n taste better.

One of the food that must hunt if you visit Bandung, and of course this is not a commercial eatery place, which is only known by the locals or neighbourhood, reason is this shop doesnt have a name and its hidden back behind alot of houses..

What I can say is, this is the location view that I shoot at which is in front of STT Telkom Didapati Ukur/ Telcom Indonesia building main entrance (if not mistaken), and my friend told me the name of the shop is Siagian.

Food hunting is always in our list on-going where to go for nice food hunt, but sometimes when people tell me on the location my usual  reply would be like ‘Hah! So far? Aiiii . .. . .’. as for this round I know that itu Eric very choosy in food should be okay in his taste then I got tag along into one of the area, Kepong dalam dalam to me. . .to hunt this Heng Bak Kut Teh Delights Place.

heng (2)

By reading some blog, I just got to know that this Heng Bak Kut Teh got some history itself. The story begins when the family started its Bak Kut Teh Recepi in Southern Malaysia, Johor by the Heng’s Family in 1960. Their choice was to create healthier range of Bak Kut Teh which they started to work on it, the aroma of the Bak Kut Teh had attracted many of the neighbor to try on their discovery…  few years later 1963, there is where Heng’s Bak Kut Teh had establish and many students came by to learn from the Heng’s Bak Kut Teh Recipe.

What I found out that, there are a few Bak Kut Teh place with Heng’s wordings also but this place is the original place from the Heng’s Family.

heng (3)

With they way the preparing it, even when I take this pictures, the soup aroma is just so tempting.

heng (4)

I always love my pot of Bak Kut Teh with all spare parts in it, that would be a perfect bowl of BKT!

heng (5)

The Lou Keok Wan – or lou chu yoke. (Dark sauce pork knuckle), love the taste of it, which a bit strong in vinegar taste but then had perfectly cook till the skin its soft and go along with rice, just perfect!

heng (6)

Many people love this dish, Sheen Lat Choy (Sour Spicy Vegie), as alot people like to have it in different taste, some with more spicy less sour, some more sour less spicy, as I discover this bowl which had been cook evenly with sour and spicyness is just there, when you drink much of it, you will feel more spicy towards the end of it which comes to my liking.

heng (7)

I love Bak Kut Teh alot especially those taste with very heavy Herbal taste, in KL just cant find the taste I like. This claypot of Bak Kut Teh Soup is just nice that I think will suits every one, that it is quite clear in the soup, yet the taste of herbal is not that strong.

heng (8)

Next is the Chue Keok Chou (Pork Leg Vinegar) with the amount of fats and the gravy cook till a bit thick, fuh~ its too good to comment on it

heng (9)

Next is the  Black Pepper Soup with some spare parts. I like this soup also, with a hint of mild black pepper taste.

heng (10)

Wong Chau Kai (Yellow rice wine chicken), some of you might find this soup strong in rice wine and heavy ginger taste, its definately very good for those who catch flu. We had this during it was raining heavily and it was just one of a good dish to be served that night.

heng (11)

The Special Rice is the rice that you must try, with their very own unique combination and style of cooking, the rice is very fragrant and rich in ingredient. It comes with daily special rice. So, try on your luck to get this.

This is definately one of my recommended place if you are looking for a nice and cheap Bak Kut Teh to eat. For so many dish on the table and it comes to less than RM70 for that night with 4 pax.
