Over the weekend, I was attending a Photography workshop at Bankers Club, and of course there are breaks in between. Then hit down to dinner and walk pass thru Sungai Wang to head to Lot 10 Hutong, I came across this Polo Bun Shop by the name Polo Zai Bakery Cafe. I love polo bun alot and looking at the texture of the bread surely looks tempting and decided to buy 1 after dinner to test the quality.

Guess what? After buy 1 on the first night, we ended up ta pau and buy for the next 2 days of the workshop, including last night. 😀

polozai (1)

Some fact of Polo bun or 菠萝包 is the Hong Kong style of bun and very popular in Hong Kong. The word 菠萝 is also a Hong Kong word meaning ‘pineapple’ where the skin of the bun looks like a pineapple.

Now at Polozai Bakery Cafe, they have mastered and specialized in baking these Polo bun with 16 choices of creative and delicious flavors to choose from. I believe they are freshly baked daily to get the freshness and quality of it. You will be tempted by the smell of it although its not so strong as compare to Roti Boy.

polozai (2)

I have tried  a few flavours over the past few days. One of the original which is Polo Butter is always the classic. With the cripsy crumbs on the top and butter spread at the base/ bottom @ RM 2.80.

polozai (3)

Next I try their Custard Polo Bun, crust is the same as the filling is custard. Find that the filling of custard is not well spread out as I bite half of the bun still there is no sign of the custard and only realize is only 1/4 of the bun, which is one of the corner.

polozai (4)

To be adventourous, we bought alot a few flavours such as Durians. Durian turns out to be pretty good and generous with the ingredient, with the durian flesh sticking out like that, can see that they are using fresh durian to insert as the filling.

Another 2 we tapau is Cheeze and Polo Ham Sausage.

The range of their bun are from RM2.80 – RM 5 depends on which selection you are aftering. For first timer, I would definately recommend their classic signature which is the Polo Bun, follow by Custard or durian.

Overall, the crust of the top is not bad, not too sweet and bun is pretty soft. Can say that one of the best Polo Bun that I came across, in overall taste and if they are serve pippin hot or warm, it would surely be one of the top seller in Sungwai Wang.

How many of you do you actually dine or yum cha at local kopitiam especially on local franchise chain? Often that we do not have satisfactory food or drinks in certain outlet. It was not until recently that Carmen insist to bring me here for the main reason they serve pretty good food for a franchise chain and second because her friend operate this outlet. This outlet certainly have my vote in ..

Hailam (1)

This shop is located at one of my favourite Pork Ball Noodle Kopitiam (click here) which is directly behind is this Hailam Kopitiam, also facing directly Bangsar Village.

Hailam (2)

A place that you can dine quite cozy with marble tables and wooden chairs, as there are alot of fans in the ceiling that keeps the cool air around.

Hailam (3)

They have pretty wide range of food and drinks and price wise I find it rather cheap compare to another 2 brands. One good thing about this shop as it is a HALAL kopitiam.

Hailam (4)

Hailam (5)

Traditional Hazelnut White Coffee, Ice Roasted Coffee and Hailam Milk Teao

Hailam (7)

Passion Fruit & Dragon Fruit Shake @ RM 7.50

Hailam (8)

Traditional Hailam Tea and Traditional Hailam Roasted Coffee @ RM3.20

I am not really a coffee drinker as most of my friend know, as I drink coffee I have the opposite effect which is getting sleepy. One thing that really love is the coffee here. Certainly beats quite a number of places that the taste of coffee is robust, well blend, strong in aroma and did not go too milky. If you are here, certainly its a recommended drink!

Hailam (9)

A simple Toasted Sliced Bread with Butter & Kaya @ RM2.50 where you think most of us can do it at home, I just do not know what is the trick that it can be toasted out crispy and with one bite, you can see the crumbs dropping off and a simple spread of butter and kaya makes it a simple bites to be wobble down. Must eat it while it is freshly out from the toaster! If you pair this with the hot coffee and  half boil egg it would be the most perfect combination of all!!

Hailam (10)

For the price of RM 7.20 for Chicken Deluxe Sandwich, it is certainly reasonable in price with generous amount of ingredient added in, chunks of chicken and vege with sauce evenly spread makes it nice to eat.

Hailam (11)

Tuna Egg Sandwich @ RM5.20

Hailam (12)

Star of the night is this Hailam Chicken Chop with Original Sauce. We never expect a chicken chop will taste so good and impress us so far at this kind of restaurant chain. It is juicy and tender, as the meat is not dry, sauce is well balance that I just requested for another bowl of sauce to make it gravvyyyy enough for me on the chicken and fries. Recommended!  RM14.20

Hailam (13)

A dish of Mix Fried Mee (Fried Ying Yeong) especially with HALAL status, caught us by surpise that it was fried perfectly with wok hei, that certainly can match with many chinese hawker center area on quality. I just had this again when I was meeting my friend there 2 hours ago. It is satisfied, and my malay friend find it delicious.Recommended! RM7.80

Hailam (14)

I always love to try tomyam fried rice, not many places that can fried this to my likings, either too powdery, or the taste is too strong. Then find that Hailam Tomyam Fried Rice offer in this shop is well balance in taste, with a bit of sourish and spicy that comes to my liking. RM8.80

Hailam (15)

A simple malaysian delicacies which is Nasi Lemak Special with Rendang Ayam, with rice is very fragrant with coconut milk that serve along with thick curry gravy and eat along with the sambal just goes along very well. RM9.60

Hailam (16)

Fried Kuey Teow another dish that surprise us. Fried with enough wok hei, till the koay teow is very fragrant and while smelling it, already makes a lot people hungry. After the first bite into our mouth, we were stun! the taste is very similiar to the ones in Penang, not only that, it was fried without pork lard and we just cannot imagine that if the chef can fried with pork lard, this dish will be a big hit among many people. Recommended!

Hailam (17)

Hailam Fried Mee/ Hailam Mee @ RM8.50

Hailam (18)

Curry Noodle

I know that many franchise chain food are quite disappointing, but when comes to this outlet, I would want to say that their food certainly outstanding compare to other shops and I have went back here a few times since I was brought by Carmen that I must thank her now, even now I know where to bring my Malay friends when they crave for nice chinese  HALAL food.

To most of us, Jaya One is no longer a place which is a stranger to us, which is currently now hosting a lot of restaurant, café’s and Bar in that building itself. If you do not know what to eat or having headache on variety, take a stroll around the area that you can find variety of food range available.

One of the latest editions into the family is The Bee which just started their operation about 3 weeks and the crowds already start to love this place.

Bee

Most of us do watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S as they usually hang out in a café, but what I feel The Bee has is that similar kind of concept which is a perfect place gathering place for friends and colleague.

Bee (2)

I love their interior that really portray classic style café that I have went when I was at Melbourne, build up with red brick design and coffee counter with cake display fridge and a mini menu of food to choose from.

Bee (3)

A mini bar table type area with wifi and plug available for your online convenience.

Bee (4)

One thing that I love about their concept is that this cake display fridge is that they are going to feature most of our local bakers to sell in this fridge as part to promote local baker talent.

Bee (5)

They have not really launch the place yet and this is their only temporary menu.

Bee (6)

With currently limited choices to choose from but will be more starting from June.

Bee (7)

‘Dukkah Prawn Salad’ RM16

If you love salad for lunch or dinner, then I would say you will surely fall in love with their salad range. Fresh salad that dress with their very own, homemade salad dressing, top with fresh grilled prawns is something I enjoy.

Bee (8)

If you want more healthy or diet meal, then ‘Roasted Pumpkin Couscous Salad’ would be the preffered choice also caught my attention more, RM18 comes with fresh softly baked pumpkin with their own seasoning to enhance the flavor up and sprinkle with the white crumbs(which I forgot the word), and I just can finish this alone. –Recommended~

Bee (9)

One of their in house specialties ‘The Bee Burger’

Bee (13)

With their very own handmade beef patties which is certainly well mince, grill till its soft and juicy then baked with a layer melted cheese on top of it and its nice! – Recommended~

Bee (10)

‘Huevos Rancheros’ wrap with egg, bacon, melted cheeze, sauces, then perfectly toast till the skin is crispy and solid yet not burn with bacon is very aromatic, and so far it is the best I had. – Recommended~

Bee (11)

‘Ebi Fry Burger’ is something unique that I came across.

Bee (12)

Deep fried Ebi which the prawn is solid and fried perfectly add in with their own salad dressing to make it juicy, worth a try.

Bee (16)

‘Chicken Avocado Burger’ with chicken grilled to perfection coated with cheeze.

Opening Promo – ALL burger and drink for RM15 (which is certainly a great bargain)

Bee (14)

‘Deep Fried Ebi’ is something have not include in the current menu that would be added in their new menu very soon. The unique is the sauce that by dipping in it, our tongue get to taste sour yet sweet and spicy and its good till we dip it the whole sauce dry.

Bee (17)

‘Churros’ is something that I tried at Victoria market and not many people enjoy this desert which is very new in Malaysia, as I love to have mine, cripy on the outer layer and very soft in the middle then sprinkle with with cinnamon sugar is good~

I love this place and certainly, to all those who love burgers, go after their burger range which I felt very delectable as the catch is they have hired one of a very famous young lady chef from Australia to prepare the café’s menu and train their chef, thanks for hosting us that night.
