Somersby Brunch Club at Antipodean @ Menara Tan & Tan, KL

I have heard quite many bloggers rave about this cafe Antipodean, and wanted to pay a visit at their Bangsar Branch, hunting parking around the area is a pain in da ass. After rounds of hunting we gave up. Then found out that Antipodean have another outlet in downtown KL which is at Menara Tan & Tan.

It was Sunday and head for the event for Somersby Brunch Club that taking place at this cafe. To my excitement I am keen to try the food there especially on their brunch.

With Bangsar Babe, Rif and Anna along for brunch.

Love the cafe ambiance here. A typical foreign cafe area that many love to hang out especially during summer if they have outdoor area. Definitely not applicable in Malaysia.

What to order? You can view on their giant chalkboard menu on the wall.

Quite a huge chunk of deserts to hunt for.

Well, since they fall into the catagory of Shortlisted for best coffee in Time Out KL, wasnt the best I have tried so far. Still above average.

In Malaysia, if you drink alcohol for breakfast or lunch, many people will stare at you like you are from another planet or alien. Its just different culture we have here. For me, it doesnt matter as long as I have great friends around, alcohol drinking will starts to kick in. This would be my first time tasting this Somersby Apple Cider that had been rated as one of the favourite drink by a few girl friends of mine.

A drink that is all rounder, easy to drink with apple taste is pretty visible, slightly gassy and perfect that you can drink it at all day long. For a 4.5% of alcohol, you wont feel it when you have down 1 bottle. The kick will only kicks in when you down at least 4-5 bottle. Then you will be starting to float around. 😀

Its a unique brunch whereby we have 2 great host in da house with Chelsia Ng and Jeremy Teo. Entertain us with their entertained with their humor and kitchen musical.

It was a event open to public and patrons were giving samples of Somersby and special bottle price for that day.

Love this Exotic Fruit Salad with Yoghurt, Honey and Mint. A simple fruit salad that pairs very well with the dressing and some cider. I find it more cider added in it taste much better, that still did not over power the sweet taste of honey. 😀

Then we got ourselves for All Day Breakfast @ RM29.

Then after sharing of one plate, we decided to order another plate with extra sausage. Scramble egg and bacon were decently prepare.

Grilled Chicken with Tomatoes, Green Beans and Balsamic Vinegar @ RM28. Dressing of Balsamic vinegar, definitely stood out in taste along with fresh green beans, just that, the chicken breast find it slightly dry for me. Overall still good.

Eggs Marlborough with Salmon. Salmon are pretty salty to my liking and luckily it was covered well with the runny yolks. Love the bread as its crips and eat along with the yolk is just something simple and nice. RM32

Antipodean cafe definitely a big hit to many people, and pricing of the breakfast set surely will keep me away.

After a good meal on their first outlet which is at Pavilion at Tokyo street, now they have opened another outlet in Paradigm mall, one of the mall that I often drop by as its near my working place. Suki-Ya : Eat All You can Shabu-Shabu from RM29.80++ which is more Japanese authentic steamboat. This would not be my first time for this brand and upoh their new outlet opening, we decided to drop by again as their price for buffet lunch is very reasonable at RM 29.80++ that only offer you a spot for maximum 2 hours.

Here would be the price of the buffet with operating time ..

Surprisingly its quite pack or its full house ..

Dining area in this outlet would be slightly different as they have some private rooms available. .

In this counter that offer variety of vegetable for your shabu shabu . .

What do they have for deserts is ice-cream in 3 flavours.

This is my favourite that we can order unlimited of fine cut meat slices, Chicken, Lamb and Beef.

If you ask me which soup base is the best, I still vote for my favourite Suki-Ya soup base, which is abit more salty authentic taste of Japanese flavour that I have tried, but for me dipping too much of red meat into the soup, it turns not so good. . 😀

Miso is not bad after you concrentrate heavily on Sukiya and Kimchi I do not really like it.

Here we are, enjoying our meal and MC really whack alot of the meat. While saying full. . keep eating. .

For a price like this, I would say its a buffet spread that worth a try as it only allow you to enjoy 2 hours dinning which is far more than enough.

I have heard so much about Journal by Plan B or any other outlet under Big Group. Been planning to drop by for so long till make it happen recently. Heading by here for their brunch, as a new place for our group to hang out. .

so we headed to Plan B in Publika that is located directly above Big Supermarket.

Interesting concept that they have. . with combination of Aussie meets New York’s Deli menu in contemporary design.

We are here around 11am and its quite a full house. .

After scouting for a few sections to be seated, this is one of a fridge that I cant take my eyes off, with its delicious looking deserts calling my name. I stood there couple of minutes like a small kid waiting to be given candy.

They have a few seating area, one which is right indoor and pamper with a few led panel tv ..

Outdoor would be sofa seating area,

Menu is pretty simple and direct and you will be pamper with choices that they have to offer.

From breakfast set, to Italian and western dining

Their version of HOt chocolate is new to me as usually I only see marshmallow being place at the side and they include it. Taste pretty good tho @ RM 8

Vanilla Milkshake is not bad after I have tried Fatboysburger and theirs are more outsanding as I prefer mine to be thick and flavourful @ RM 10

Or another version with sunny side up. It looks little and when finish the whole plate it is just perfect.

One of my favourite is their French Toast that being fried with their homemade bread I suppose, top with some honey and nuts is just perfect. Something different to go after @ RM 22 – recommended!

Something new for me to go after, with the bread well toast at the bottom and taste pair everything perfectly, with egg, salty of bacon and a bit sourish cream follow by.

My friend, Immi opted for something healthy as she is on her diet then she go for Egg Avacado Feta Mash @ RM 21. First Look I thought it was too green and doesnt look pleasent to me. I cant see too much green in a plate. It suprise me with the taste and avacado mash taste good!

As we are feeling up, and I walk back to the desert counter and start pointing what I want, Banana Cake attract my attention and I would just say I had better ones before. @ RM 10

Something that I have miss alot, as not many places are able to produce Rocky Road, is filled with mash mellow, chocolate and cookie crust base like at the bottom, not bad for a version in Malaysia @ RM 5

Then, I have check out other reviews and there is actually some bad experience from other bloggers too, on their lunch and dinner, So far I have only tried on their breakfast set its pretty good, luckily we had a great time there besides their slow service as we believe they are understaff. Besides that, evertyhing is just nice. A good place to hang out for coffee with nice ambiance. Sure wont mind to drop by again for cuppa.

Ramadan Buffet @ Cinnamon Coffee House, 1-World Hotel

Fasting month had just started few days back and every one is looking for nice places to ‘Buka Puasa’ and certainly Cinnamon Coffee House, an award winning place located inside 1 World Hotel is one of the restaurant that many of you should consider. For this year Buka Pusa Menu 2012, you will be pamper with more than 100 choices of food that is available and one best part is, you will never get the same menu daily, as they have 7 different sets of menu that will be rotating around.

I start off with soup and bread section that serve along with 4 types of soup that day. I just have to start my buffet meal with this section, just a habit. 🙂

UFO Taiwanese Desert @ SS 2

Deserts Lovers, which brand do you prefer since we have Taiwan fever deserts booming in our country at the moment, from drinks (bubble tea) to ice desert series with the brand like Chatime, Gong Cha, Snowflakes and now UFO which in the same area had another brand of Taiwanese desert that I did not even bother to write on.

I have heard good feedback from my friend regarding on UFO another Taiwanese Deserts as they rate this second best after Snowflakes (click here). YES. . . UFO is not actually the alien UFO is just a taiwanese desert shop with the catchy name. Since its nearby my work area, I gather my colleague to have dinner then come by for deserts after that.

UFO Taiwanese desert is located in the heart of SS2 with its super big billboard that is hard to miss, which is the same row of Police Station.

Of course we are here to try on their ice series .. .

I guess this is how the name par on it, with UFO calling number. It will vibrate when your order is ready.

always wanted to start order with Soya series but it was out of stock so go for their classic range, Grass Jelly series. . . .

Matcha Special @ RM 6

Overall in this outlet, Grass Jelly certainly have its taste which is pretty strong and did not dissapoint us at all and the best series I would recommend is their Matcha or Green Tea Ice Series that have strong taste of green tea and pair very well with other ingredient and all of us agree that its one of the best to look for in this shop.

Price starting from RM4.50 (1topping) to RM6.00 (3toppings)

If you wanted to order their bubble tea, just save your money and order the ice series. Pretty disappointing.

Value worth buffet – Nagomi Shabu Shabu @ RM32.80++

Coming to year end, its all about festive season and festive season means all about eating! Eat, Eat, Eat and Eat non stop and after my much effort in gym, now I have gain back weight to my previous size…:( I have been eating so much and there are a few places worth recommending. Nagomi Shabu Shabu

One promotion is not to be miss is under this Nagomi Shabu Shabu which is a actual Japanese style Steamboat not like those outside in the shop houses mention shabu shabu but localize soup.

This place is pretty packed up by alot people with their current special buffet promotion. Let’s check out what they have to offer~

There are providing fresh salmon too only available at one session which is at 8pm while stock last!

Many choices of soup base paste for you to add on and we have tried all. I still like my miso soup paste.

The actual serving comes with individual pot and with clear soup. You can diy yourself to a multi taste of soup whereby 3 of us have 3 different style of soup. WE have a little make over as mine to miso soup, xiu xiu to Clear Seafood soup and Jean more to mushroom soup. HOw we did that? Secret!!!

Then they do offer fruits and deserts for your ending~

Having dinner with both of them certainly happy…non stop talking and laughing. .

This is their current promotion, a steam boat buffet spread offering at RM 32.80 ++ that we paid about RM43 to be nett and certainly worth every penny, although we had not become a big eater but we are satisfied with the price paid and the offerings in the buffet spread!

Certainly its a recommended buffet by me and while promo ends ( I have no idea when it ends, so just eat it while its still on promo). We are planning to go again. Who wants to join?

Just be there early, to enjoy the full spread of the buffet menu~
