Ipoh is also known as one of the food hunting ground where you can see a lot of write-ups on online media or local newspaper. We were stop by in Ipoh during our road trip up to Hatyai, that we purposely start our journey early to stop by here for their famous tim sum. For the first time being here and much review readed regarding on this stall, yet Jonathan being at his hometown lead us they way to this Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum.

Ming court

This is one of a famous restaurant to dine in the morning and we have to look out for table ‘Siapa cepat, dia dapat’ kind of thing.

Ming court (2)

The business is so good that some of them do not mind share tables with strangers.

Ming court (3)
As we were very hungry, and we just ordered most of the tim sum we see that passing by on cart, carried by the waitress or randomly ordered.

On that morning, all of us were disappointed with the quality of the tim sum, most of the tim sum we did not finish till we got no appetite to continue and Jonathan also said that it is very different from what he had last round and it is not cheap, for a simple order like that it cost us RM100 which I find it VERY expensive! I guess next round I would want to try out the opposite tim sum, which is also another famous restaurant.

Ming court (21)
We were still hungry and looking for food to eat, and found this uncle selling ice cream potong that so many auntie ta pau it, then we decide to join the crowd also.

Ming court (22)
The ice cream that store in cold temperature by using dry ice to maintain its freshness.

Ming court (23)

Ming court (24)
We tried out ‘Cendol’ for RM1.20 a stick that have ‘Red Bean’, ‘Durian’ and ‘Mango’ (if not mistaken). It would not taste exactly the same as the Ice Cendol we eat but with a strong taste of gula melaka that overpower the taste of it.

This uncle had been selling ice cream for many years since his dad, as in the morning he would be selling in between the dim sum restaurant till 11am then he will move to another area to sell.

After this place, we head to another shop for second round of breakfast~

This restaurant is no longer a stranger to us as they served quality food. We had 2 occasions here that was during our first time got to know this place for a review on their food and second we did a Chinese New Year Photo shoot here. I heard a few feedback from my friend mentioning that their tim sum is pretty good too, and this round we are here for a round of great tim sum!

It was quite some time ago that me and my friends had eat all you can dim sum. As I remember on the last round was my colleague keep arranging Tim Sum buffet till got phobia of it and stop for quite some time till last weekend which was organize by Ken.

Then we head to Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant which is located at 1st floor of One World Hotel, PJ that pamper most of the tim sum lovers with their latest menu with an unbelievable price.

ZuanYuan

ZuanYuan (2)

With chinese vase, and some look alike artifact had decorated the whole wall upon the nearby entrance.

ZuanYuan (5)

When we were walk through pass the entrance, I just love their interior design with luxurious interior furnishing with traditional colour of red, silver and gold.

ZuanYuan (6)

ZuanYuan (7)

If you feel that you need more privacy or need some gathering, the sure do have VIP rooms to cater on your needs.

ZuanYuan (8)

Not long after we were seated down, then the table was bombard by all the variety tim sum, while we were busy taking pictures of it, it never stop till the whole table is full, then I was like Wow! Wonder how are we going to finish it.

ZuanYuan (9)

In this buffet I got shock that we get to order ‘Steamed Seafood Dumpling with Superior Stock and Shark’s Fin’ or as the picture below. I love this very much, with its strong taste that been steam for long time, and the seafood dumpling remains soft and filled with ingredients. Recommended this compare with another one.

ZuanYuan (10)

‘Braised Shark Fin’s with Crab Roe’ is a bit starchy and added on with vinegar, it just taste awesome.

ZuanYuan (11)

I just like their vinegar taste that make the whole soup so nice.

ZuanYuan (12)

‘Water Prawn Noodle’ is served next in the set menu with a plate each. Chewy juicy prawns hints the freshness of it and end with an egg top on it.

ZuanYuan (13)

The ‘Chili Oil’ is something that I constant attack on, as its very fragrance, a bit salty and with dried shrimps and not very spicy.

ZuanYuan (14)

‘Pan Fried Shanghai Dumpling’ I always bite open the tip of it and stuff it with Ginger Vinegar that served upon. Just loving it as its been pan fried well on one side of it.

ZuanYuan (15)

ZuanYuan (16)

This is my frist time with ‘Steamed mince Squid Ball with Dried Octopus and Crab Stick’ as I thought it was a sushi ball, it taste simple and nice.

ZuanYuan (17)

‘Steamed Shark’s Fin Dumpling’

ZuanYuan (18)

‘Steamed Teo Chew Sui Mai’

ZuanYuan (19)

‘Steamed Prawn Dumpling’

ZuanYuan (20)

As I always love to have my plate of ‘Barbeque Char Siew Chee Cheong Fun with Sesame Seeds’ added with their chili oil…

ZuanYuan (21)

‘Shredded Dried Scallop Chee Cheong Fun’ as when bite on the scallop its juicy and springy, like the feeling of it.

ZuanYuan (22)

‘Flaky Barbeque Char Siew Pastries’

ZuanYuan (23)

Certainly this taste unique as ‘Taro Dumpling Wu Kok Style with Scallop and Miso Sauce’ the sauce itself had blend in well with the taste of the wu kok, a bit salty and crispy edge.

ZuanYuan (24)

‘Deep Fried Prawn Dumpling and Salad Dressing’

ZuanYuan (25)

ZuanYuan (26)

‘Fried Loh Pak Kou’

ZuanYuan (27)

‘Oven Baked Mini Egg Tarts with Caramel and Cinamon’

ZuanYuan (28)

‘Oven Baked Cheese Tart’

ZuanYuan (29)

‘Deep Fried Sesame Balls with Peanut Paste’ crispy on the outer part and inside filling is warm and I like it. I had a plate of these myself.

ZuanYuan (30)

With every Tim Sum that I always go, I must always end it with their desert range. With this two Behind: ‘Double-Boiled Crystal Pear with Fresh Ginseng, ‘Chilled Aloe Vera Infused with Lemon Grass’ as both were rather chilling and refreshing, which is good for me to cool down to get the satisfaction of it. Surely a must have desert to end off your meal.

It was a great new discovery that with just only RM48++ we are getting such luxurious range of it. Definately I will be coming back for second round~ is available on daily lunch from 12pm – 2.30pm.

Thought of eating Dim Sum for the past few days, then did a research on where to eat. Then finally book one of the restaurant at Renaissance Hotel for its buffet dim sum which quite a number of good review on that. Then suddenly 2 days b4 the eating spree my friend called me up got something cheaper ah..
Then again go do some research and come across this eat all you can buffet which is at Li Jin Restaurant at Pavilion.
When we reach there around 11.15 am there were quite alot ppl waiting outside. Then I went to go ask the lady for the reservation name and she said I have to wait till 11.30 am to be serve. Then never care and just stand outside and chat with my friends.

Why this restaurant was because they give such a promo which under my friends budget RM20.80++ for eat all you can which most of them agreed and good thing was included weekends. Went to this eating spree with 10 ppl. They have 2 session for this which is the first batch is 10.30 am – 12.30 am and 12.30 am – 2.30 pm. We thought of going for the 2nd session as Brunch. 😀

While on the way walking in, they have the open concept of the open kitchen and as always the way steaming the tim sum always look tempting. The taste of it NO IDEA.

As I read a few food blogger, they mention that the roast duck here is highly recommended but never find a review on the tim sum. Will go hunt for its duck next visit~

They have quite a classy interior from inside out. Sure a pretty nice place to dine for tim sum with such a pricing.

While we were seated and this is the first cart that reach our place. We were very hungry as previous nite drank too much and today a bit hang over.. so just hantam what we can. So told the lady, everything 2 in our table.

Including this cart.
After took all the tim sum we need and me as always hungry as ever and go look around what I can curi. So found this area, with fried noodle and fried rice.
The ‘Fried Noodle’, is nice with the ‘wok’ taste is there and wasnt being too salty. A good dish to start off with
The ‘Fried Rice’ which is feel it taste much better than the noodle, as it is still warm compare to the noodle, and the best part is they are being pretty generous that alot of chinese sausage in there which makes the taste alot better.
Maybe I was still abit hang hang dei, and what ever I eat also nice.
Then the next area spotted next to it was ‘Century Porridge’ on the right, which I feel that the chuk is pretty dry up by putting into the slow cooker too long. Its a bit sticky whereby you throw it on the fly that fly over can even stick on the wall.
Next to it is theFu Chuk didnt manage to eat that cuz thought of leaving that for the last dish and ended up forgot to take.
This was the appetiser in front of the table. The very first infront of the pic I do not know what is that called but it taste sour and cold. Never really like it. The one of the right is call Leng Ngau(hokkien)suddenly forgot what its called in english. Taste not bad. Acceptable for me, which is cold, a bit salty and crunchy to its freshnesss and the one of the top left also do not know call what is it as what I know is to put all this in my mouth and taste it. It is cold dish also, a bit spicy and sour. Not my cup of tea.
So start my eating spree with this Siew Mai’ which is warm in the basket and yit lat lat.. so throw one into my mouth and feel like the siew mai is just out from the fridge and went into stim. The compactness is there but just taste normal.
Next is the Fung Chau aka Chicken Leg’ which I feel it taste weird. The skin taste like eating raw of its skin and a bit sticky too. After eating this plate,me and my friends never wanted for 2nd one.
Next is the Har Gau which is not really big in size. The prawn is not really big and the meat in there is okay and the skin is not too thick. Nothing taste special about this like some of other normal kopitiam style you can get.
Follow by my favourite ‘Char Siew Pau that will never miss in my tim sum eating spree. But dissapointedly, the feeling that it give me was the pau feels like not properly stim which the other side is hot and the skin is peeling and the other side is like just ngam ngam. The taste of it, don really like the sauce and the mince meet in there not small enough.
From top left to right:

Fish Ball
: Not a fan of that but just don taste nice.

Pai
Kuat
: Just taste so so, as its quite oily and the fats in the meat is too much.
The one on the bottom left taste nice, the skin is a bit crispy and the filling in there mix with chili sauce just ngam ngam nice to put into mouth
Siew Mai: which is another version from the up one, and thinks that this 1 taste much better. The compactness of the meat is there, and the feeling of eating char siew although not the best but no comment.
When the cart came by with this ‘Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun’ then also ask for 2 each. Compare this 2, the prawn 1 taste much nicer compare to the char siew. The char siew the piece of meat is there and the taste is just not there. Feels like missing something in it and we cant really get what it lacked off. For the prawns, it taste better as the taste had mix in with the cheong fun. Eating with the chili given is an extra.

Loh
Pak Kou
: one of the dish which I feel its nice there, its soft, with a bit of peanut fragrance and ngam ngam pan fried it.
the one on the top right, taste so so only, as fried to perfection but I feel like eating more flour than eating the base.
ThePopiah fried too long and its too crispy which makes it a bit hard to bite. Nothing special.
The Crabstick I would called it. Taste not bad, fried to perfection and the filling in there carries the tatse of the crab. Eat with mayo would be nice.
The best part of all I have been waiting and we ate till around 2.30 already. As we chatted the whole way through more than eating. Of course the deserts. The one of the top left do not know what is nice but one of the girl that serve our table, she keeps coming back happily to serve us and told me that since I like to eat desert as I keep asking her, then she bring me this.
Seriously, it taste very very very nice, inside is filled with some duck salty egg, abit of jagung taste, its soft on the outside and hot on the inside and its my recommendation for this dish over here.
As I read the review of the ‘Egg Tart’ not to be miss, which I feel it taste okay as the crust is crispy, the middle cream of it is to sweet and nice. The filling in it is just ngam ngam never too much nor too little.

The last one, taste pretty good also as it is filled with a bit kaya and ended up I wanted to request for more they told me its already finish and pass me the last 1 pack of it. SO DOWN. At the end of the meal onli get to know eat nice nice food.

After eating everything and ready to go surely we ask for our bill. The bills come out to a total of RM29 per pax which we were like har..y so ex and saw in the menu, like HK ppl doing business, added up the 3 cold dish in front of us cost RM5 each, then the towel, the tea and some other little bits and piece. Found it quite expensive for around RM29 each with the food quality and rather add some extra money to go Renaissance and enjoy the food but never try never know. Wont be considering going back at the moment.
