Heee, as some of you might have seen my previous post on Famous Yew Char Kuih & Ham Chi Peng that is located next to them, is actually related as I went on the same day. Lets head to next door which is the famous Zi Wei Yuen Steamboat Restaurant which is very famous in Raja Uda. One of the reason they are famous is because of the soup base, which is the only super important ingredient for steamboat.

zi wei (1)

I have been talking with my family and friends to come and dine at this restaurant for like bout 1 n half years already till date it was all wrong timing and since this round I am quite free and my friends love this restaurant, the agreed without any hesitation since its their favorite also.

zi wei (2)

To make an efford here, it is highly advise to reach here before 7pm or after 9pm as during peak dinner hours, you have to fight with  many families to get a spot in the area as its super pack.

zi wei (3)

This is what I mean as those who are standing are hunting for a table, so you better disperse your family members or friends to get a spot.

zi wei (4)

We lazy to order what is in the menu therefore we go for their set dinner, my friends opted for the most expensive set RM220 that consist of at least 10-14 items if I am not mistaken.

One of the thing that they are famous for is their special signature Fish Head Steamboat that available in two version, with fried fish head or the steam type. We choose the steam type then another attraction is that their soup base is milky version that you cant really find that in Penang and mostly I would say its the KL version.

Not only that, they use charcoal steamboat version to make it more nice. I only have charcoal steamboat when I went back to my grandmother’s village at some where deep in mainland only get to enjoy it.

zi wei (11)

This is what happen when the pour everything inside and waiting for it to boil as charcoal takes time to make it cook.

Find that the soup base is aromatic and sweet, as you can taste that they really take something to boil it long time to make it there and milky version of soup just make it look interesting. As you refill the soup many times then the soup gets more salty towards the end and the base.

Another thing that best pair with the steamboat is their own homemade chili sauce, that dip along with the ingredient is just perfect.

After a while after the dinner most of us gets very thirsty and I guess that they have added on alot of MSG to make us drink lots of water after that. No doubt that the soup base is good that we drank alot of the soup and just need to drink alot of water hours later. 😀

Its pretty good and worth to try. . .

Every year, once after Christmas Celebration, the next festive season would definitely be Chinese New Year, as it is always the period of the year that I love the most is during end of the year with continues festive celebration. As Chinese New Year Celebration is around the corner, a lot of us would be busying buying new clothes, decoration in house and around the mall will be set up and restaurant owner will be busy preparing for their CNY menu for all family, friends and colleagues gathering.

Then we head to one of the newest mall in Petaling Jaya which is SS2 Mall, open one of the biggest restaurant in the area that can host at least 1500 people in the restaurant itself. So, big family with a lot of friends, this is definitely one of the restaurants to consider as they are not just big, they also do have one of the only concept so far in the area that will provide great host for your friends and family.

Not only they are good in their restaurant management as if you ever attend a wedding with few other weddings together at one shot? with their new style, they are able to cater as much as 3 wedding at one go in this spacious restaurant with each of the wedding have their private stage and with many railings to be pulled to cater just for your family and friends without disturbing another wedding next to you.

Its a restaurant that well decorated with comfy and much need for us as a diner.

dynasty (4)

This is what I mean that they do have a special concept that host our family and friends whichs is a pool party will be throw out when you purchase their packages. With bikini girls serving mocktails or cocktails based on your favourite selection and the whole place will be decorated according to your theme.

dynasty (5)

when your guest arrive early, this would be definately a perfect place to hang out or chill with family and friends.

dynasty (6)

In their range of menu, they sure do have extensive array of food to be choosen from, start as cheap as RM8. Another highlight on this restaurant is that the menu, some of the special dishes, you are able to get in this restaurant only as the onwer hire 5 executive  chef in its 5 outlet and 5 of them have their very own signature dish. Therefore, what you eat here might not get a chance to eat in other restaurant.

dynasty (7)

A little early for Yee Sang? Don think so, as it is only around 3 weeks away from CNY. Alot of people aready made bookings for their ‘Sau Gong Jau’ (closing lunch/dinner before CNY is to mark that’s the end of the year in Chinese Calendar).

In Penang, most people consider it a food heaven that cannot be deny, that one of the hottest place to dine at night and you love to rob a dinner table for your family and friends, which is a very normal things to do in a coffee shop, then you must not miss one of the famous place to dine Bee Hooi Restaurant. A place where you can find simple hawker food enough to kill off your hunger and craving that filled with a few famous stall, with cheap food yet good.

Bee Hooi

If you come here during public holiday or weekends, you might have to be a efficient robber.

Bee Hooi (2)

A stall that I would not miss is this Frankie’s Pizza with in the standard menu, ‘Hawaiian Chicken, Tuna, Seafood, Mutton, and a few more. ‘

Bee Hooi (3)

One of my personal favourite in the stall is ‘Hawaiian Chicken or Mutton with extra cheeze topping’ yum~

Bee Hooi (4)

With my ‘Mutton Pizza with extra Cheeze’ RM 7-8 (Small) is well toast and ready to be eaten. Please do not compare the one with the restaurant as this is the kopitiam version as the crust might be thicker and hard a bit but after toast it well with well marinated ingrediant, its one of the best to get. Nice melted cheeze, with soft mince mutton with onion in it. Recommended~

For oyster’s lover, ‘Fried Oyster’ is one of the dish you would not want to miss. I find the fried oyster here is very classic, that fried it in soft layer with egg, mashed it a bit and top it up with Oyster. Its very aromatic and dipping it with the Chili, its just perfect.

Bee Hooi (9)

My plate of ‘Fried Oyster’ RM 6 as the price ranges from RM6-RM15

Bee Hooi (10)

One of the famous hawker in the kopitiam is this ‘Char Koey Teow’ stall run by the whole family, as the mom prepare the ingredient, the dad fried on it and the son deliver. You can be expected to wait from easily 10minutes to 30 minutes depending on the crowd as this mini hawker stall did feature in a few newspaper as seen in front of the stall which I forgot to snap it.

Bee Hooi (11)

One of the good ‘Char Koey Teow’ to make it delicious is by using charcoal to fried along and plate by plate to ensure the koey teow and the ingredient are fried evenly. To eat the best ‘Char Koey Teow’ is always must go along with ‘Duck Egg’ if the place do offer and fried with charcoal.

Bee Hooi (12)

My simple plate of ‘Char Koey Teow with Duck Egg’ RM4 which is my cheaper and nicer compare to the famous one Lorong Selamat. I do have big prawns too on my plate with well fried with wok hei, and dry with each koey teow is not that sticky and aroma of duck egg is well blend.

Bee Hooi (13)

Then my mom ate ‘Koey Teow Theng’ RM3 which is a simple dish which is definately taste alot better than most of the KL stalls.

Besides this mention above, there are other famous stall too, like the ‘Loh Mee’ and a few other stalls. . . With no complain that this kopitiam serve quite a good range of food, worth recommending.
