Pipers (1)

Hidden in high rise residential, smack this few restaurant and bar that operate in Mont Kiara residence area and you will be surprise on what you will discover. One of them is this lovely restaurant & bar – Pipers. If you are around the area, you would not notice this building as it is pretty camoflush with the rest of the residential area or more like a club house, but its actually a public area.

Pipers (2)

Previously was known as another name and now under this new management they have switch it to Pipers.

Pipers (3)

Its more like a neighbourhood bar that gives you some quiet space that you wanna chill with nice background music and personal touch of the bar tender. Not only that, they do have live band playing on Thursday – Saturday. Best option is to go for their bottle beer.

Pipers (6)

Food menu is rather simple with a few pages to flick around. Price here I would say slightly expensive for this kind of ambiance.

Pipers (9)

Tried their Crispy Calamari with Bali Hai sambal @ RM22. Seldom I would really like appetizer or this might look normal. One of the taste that makes this pretty good is chef own made Bali Hai Sambal as the taste of the sauce is light lime sour and spicy end. The rings of calamari is fried to perfection that its crispy on the outside yet the meat still maintain moist.

Pipers (10)

Thai Style Crab & Avocado Stack with creamy Lemon Dressing @ RM23. Presentation looks awesome, that filled with top layer creamy lemon dressing, then finely cut tomato, a layer of fresh season crabmeat with thai sauce and avocado base. Among so many starters, this is one of a kick ass. Slighltly creamy  and all aroma burst into flavor in the first bite, you can taste on the pale lemon taste yet freshness of crab meat and avocado.

Pipers (11)

Wild Mushroom Salad with Mizuna & Crispy Noodles @ RM24

Pipers (12)

Pan Seared Foie Gras & Grilled Eel on Daikon bed with Truffle Teriyaki Sauce @ RM45. A well balance dish and not too salty. Foie gras is fried to perfection that one side layer is slightly crisp and inside is so soft till nearly melt in my tongue. Eel been added to add on some mouthful bite of meat.

Pipers (13)

1) Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio @ RM 32

2) Asparagus Risotto @ RM28

3) Slow Braised LAmb Shank @ RM 45

Pipers (14)

1) Duck Confit with Miso Mash potato and Onion JAm @ RM 33

Crème Brulee

Overall, their starters do kick ass. Their main and dessert still need rooms for improvement. Believe that the chef is master in sauces as all his sauces is well balance and really really good.

I have always miss Indonesian food, especially on their street style. When I was there often few years back, there are a few things I will always eat, their sate, roti bakar and a few more. Guess what? Recently I found a place that sell one of my favorite savory originate from there known as Martabak Manis or Terang Bulan pancakes at Waroeng Oma.

Yap, you can say it is something similiar to our local market Ban Chang Kuih where you can find it in pasar malam or Pasar Pagi. The only big difference is the ingredient they use.

mbi (1)

Operate by 2 young lads, one of the owner of The MBI Martabak Manis actually originated from Jawa Indonesia and to make it better, they operate this little stall in this restaurant that also sells authentic Indonesian food which I will be blogging next.

mbi (2)

mbi (3)

Pricing for the Martabak Manis is very reasonable as they are huge in size and the ingredient they added in is very generous. Martabak Manis comes in 2 version one which is Original – means the thicker version and Tipker means the thinner or you if you love crispy then go for Tipker.

mbi (4)

All of this are prepare fresh upon order. It takes very fast for them to prepare one as, it takes a few minutes for them to get 1 piece ready for you.

mbi (5)

My all time favourite order would be .. . . .  when the base is form till the side is crispy, then first layer they spread with butter .. .

mbi (6)

 Follow by Cheeze ..

mbi (7)

Follow by Chocolate Rice and peanut. .

mbi (8)

Lastly, added on condense milk ..

mbi (9)

Then my they cut it and you can hear the cracking sound of the edge. . .

mbi (10)

This is my order, Original Martabak Manis Special @ RM 10. Rich in ingredient and very aromatic compare to our local stall. Just exactly like what they offer in streets of Indonesia. It might look sinful at first but after first bite, you will continue eating till its gone. Pretty addictive. Of course cant compare in price as its way too different. Cheeze that they use, taste nice and fragrant as event though they using Kraft and its imported all the way from Indonesia, as the owner find it our local one is more mild.

This portion I would say its pretty huge and best to share at least with 2 people.

mbi (15)

Next order is Original Cheeze with Milk @ RM 8.50

mbi (11)

After getting our thick version then we hope onto their Tipker version which is done like paper thin and the pieces that they cut all crack . This is best to eat it while its hot and not advisable to make it take away as it turn soggy very fast. Unless you go something of the ingredient that doesnt have wet base like peanut and chocolate rice, it might last a bit longer.

mbi (12)

Our next order is Tipker Pisang Special (Tipker Banana special) @ RM 11 filled with, chocolate rice, cheeze, condense milk, peanut and banana. The whole plate was gone in seconds and order another same portion again. It is so crispy and fragrant that make all of us hard to resist.

mbi (13)

Then last order we go for our favourite style which is filled with corn and peanut only. Never disappoint as the way they do the skin is already good.

If you are hunting for nice/ authentic Indonesian snacks and food, this shop surely can cure your cravings and it has now falls to one of my highly recommended place to hunt for.

Good food is definitely hard to find, more ever those that you found and like, quality to maintain is another challenge. One place definately did not let us down so far is Sanook Bistro and Spots Bar never let us down so far, even we patron this place numerous time as normal customer, the consistantcy of food is there. I have blog about this place before last year (click here). This restaurant is actually a hidden restaurant right in Kelana Jaya yet overlook the lake.

sanook (2)

As for football fans, its will be a great place to hang out too, with huge screen special beer promo and ample parking around the area. As for this year, the Godfather had decided its time to change its food menu and came out with interesting food range that never fail to impress us.

Sanook (1)

I am totally impress with their wine menu, as this is the first time I came across a restaurant that write the characteristic of the wine and description of drinking. A totally perfect menu for me that I always have difficulties in looking for my bottle of wine yet asking the waiter/waitress they would not know what to recommend.

Sanook (2)

As its still early, we decided to chill with their signature Margarita @ RM11. A glass that is not too strong, with perfectly blend ice filled with salt at the glass and a slice of lemon. I ended having 2 glass. 😀

Sanook (3)

Jeng Jeng JEng.. here is the new menu, a unique way of capturing attention with chef special and road sign being install as a main attention grabber icon in the menu. BY many unique names and description in the menu have the attraction to attack us by telling us everything is good. – Dangerous!

Sanook (4)

Gyro Lamb Pita @ RM18 – Sliced boneless marinated lamb leg with veggies & black olives, stuffed in fresh homemade pita bread packets, with special yoghurt mint mint sauce. It look rather simple like any other pita bread that I am having. With first bite, lamb being well marinated and burst with flavor as the taste is even better when you dip with their yogurt mint.

Sanook (5)

Spicy Mermaid Salad @ RM22

For greens lover, something light to go after with seafood then it is filled with Sauteed tiger prawns & calamari rings tossed with roasted capsicums, asparagus, cubed Japanese cucumbers & romaine lettuce in Sanook’s special house dressing.

Sanook (6)

I prefer Moogus Salad @ RM22

Grilled Sirloin Beef & Asparagus tossed with wild rocket salad topped with parmesan cheese and roasted red capsicums in house special dressings. As its just simple and I always prefer meat over seafood in salad. 😀

Sanook (7)

Kim Yang Lamb Cutlets @ RM52

Kim’s favorite lamb cutlets coated in Korean Spices, charbroiled to perfection & accompany with Korean Kimchi. As unique as the name could tell you, this lamb certainly is one of a recommended dish in the menu. Marinated to perfection and cook to well that the meat is tender and juicy. Sauce is totally unique and nearly bone licking good.

Sanook (8)

Masala Rib Eye @ RM42

Prime cuts of beef rib eye (250 gram) coated with chef’s special mix of garam masala, grilled to perfection and accompany by vegetable kebabs.

Sanook (9)

A mix for us sometimes would be good as it give you the option. Again the sauce is the main item not to be miss to dip.

Sanook (10)

Sotong Otak Otak @ RM30

Sanook (11)

Grilled whole squid (250 grams) stuffed with prawn otak otak (spicy prawn paste), served with sambal tumis , pilaf rice, garden greens, garnished with prawn crackers, almond & fried shallots

Sanook (12)

When I saw this in the menu, I told myself I must order this – Espresso ChickenRM25. Something its totally unique and first time I came across.

Tender chicken chop with espresso honey glazed and then roasted to perfection & served with pomelo salad, corn mojo, citrus bean salsa paired with tortilla chips. Sauce on the chicken is just amazing.

Sanook (14)

Teriyaki Char Siew @ RM22 – Tenderly broiled chicken, brushed with special sweet soy sauce marinate, garnished with piquant plum sauce & green onions served with herbal pilaf rice

Sanook (13)

Tom Yum Goong Pisek @ RM29 – Soup lover that love tomyum, its bad that you miss this soup as the owner himself is nearly half Thai and very particular of his soup that he needs to ensure that the soup stays authentic as possible whereby what he prefer. Spicy enough to make you go numb for a while, sourish enough to my level and a perfect companion with rice.

Sanook (15)

I always told myself, I am going to skip their pizza this round yet I always end up ordering. SPICY THAI MANGO TUNA PIZZA. They are well famous for their hand tossed thin crust pizza. @ RM 33

Sanook (16)

In this bar, their firewood pizza is also one of their signature item that must not miss, home made thin crust with generous filling is always a must with beer while watching football. This is totally new flavour, weird by its name but taste good in your mouth.

Sanook (17)

Some of you might not like the sesame seed like me as I do not prefer the taste yet the aroma of lamb help me pair off the taste well. Sesame Honey Lamb Pizza @ RM35

Sanook (18)

Marie’s Crepe Suzette @ RM17 – Freshly pan fried french crepes flavored with creamy fresh orange juice and citrus zest. Orange zest taste might be a bit strong especially taste of orange skin taste is very visible but when comes to desert its hard for me to say no. crepes are thick in a mouthful bite are just nice and orange pairs it well yet a scoop of ice cream would me it perfect!

Sanook (19)

Every one went crazy of this Henry’s mud cake @ RM11. Serve pippin hot, small portion enough to satisfy your desert crave or end your dinner in style that mud cake is moist with warm chocolate in it.

Sanook (20)

After reading the post, might sound that I have like praised nearly everything, well, this is the Sanook Bistro that we are expecting as it never fail us with their consistant food quality as I have mention and the chef behind all these food are just amazing to make every portion right and perfect. As far as I know their new menu is amazing.

Good for you to give it a try.

Pass here many times, whenever I dine nearby and there is this rustic kopitiam that always draw my attention that tug in the middle of the whole stretch of shop lot. It does not look like a place fully pack with people just that the ambiance and a few chicken that hanging right outside the shop always have the urge to make me go in. You will be suprise on Restaurant Soo Kee.

soo kee (1)

After Google out about this place only realise that they serve pretty authentic Ipoh koey Teow Soup that many of my boss like it also, as its more like a neighbourhood business. According to our boss, this place is one that serve authentic recepi from the family compare to the others available and do not really use MSG in the food, that’s how he is one of the regular there as he is sensitive towards MSG. As he told us, this place is also run by the whole family. .

soo kee (2)

What is written on the stall are all their signature.

soo kee (3)

Just look at this guy how he eat with his expression . . priceless. . 😀

soo kee (4)

One of the signature Prawn Wantan that serve in a bowl with easily there are 8 pieces along. Love the texture of the wantan as its not too solid yet can chew the whole prawn yet not too big. Soup base is a bit strong with peppery as if it is slightly less then would be just nice.

soo kee (5)

When the Steam Chicken is serve, it look so silky smooth and the special sauce that they have is just aromatic that trails through my nose. Undenieable that the first bite of the chicken automate me continuous to pick up 2nd piece, 3rd pieces as one of the smoothest chicken that I have come accross, best of all, its boneless. Every piece can just smack right into your mouth and usually chicken breast part is pretty dry and solid, as I guess Soo Kee have their own style of making it juicy yet smooth.

After check back my pictures only I realise that I forgot to take picture on the smooth koey teow soup. Its actually like you go MacD ordering a set, its the same as Soo Kee that when you come here you need to order their signature set that serve Steam Chicken, Wantan and Koey Teow Soup then that’s the perfect combo of all for this shop.

If you are asking me are they the best, I have no idea. I can say one of the best steam chicken that I have come accross, surely will come back again as its pretty near my office.

Oh Sushi (18)

Then Tatt say their sashimi is a must order cuz its fresh so we hit on Salmon Oyako @ RM 38. With a few big slabs of salmon and by looking at the orange colour shows its a good sign of freshness and no doubt it is!

Oh Sushi (11)

Volcano Roll @ RM 36 find that its a bit over price with the portion they are charging as I have tried a very good one before with this price. Its too much mayo that not well burn overall its not bad la~

Oh Sushi (12)

Agedashi Tofu @ RM16

Oh Sushi (14)

Beef slices for our Sukiyaki . .:D

Oh Sushi (15)

Sukiyaki @ RM 48

Oh Sushi (16)

What you do is just take this thin slice of beef and dip it in for a while then you can enjoy eating it fresh! Sukiyaki pot soup is pretty good with a bit salty at the end taste and just cant drink much type as it will be too salty at the end. pretty good~

Oh Sushi (19)

So this is all of us and looking back at my picture, I look like I have gain so much weight back then . .heheh

Overall, the food in Oh Sushi Japanese Restaurant is pretty good yet I still prefer Sushi Tei (available now at Gurney Plaza), my all time favourite~ if you compare this kind of chain together.

One of the thing that we are looking forward to after a long stroll at the Aborigines Park in Taiwan(click here), we were told that Tina and Eva had already book a very nice restaurant for dinner which served their specializing hot and spicy Sichuan cuisine. Kiki Restaurant is rated one of the best around the area.

kiki

As I was told by Tina that this famous restaurant chain is own by their famous local celebrity Singer and TV host Lan Xin Mei that can only be found in Taipei District. Tina had book this restaurant few days ahead to ensure we get a place in this restaurant which RESERVATION is a must before you head here.

kiki (2)

This building had 3 story and the whole building is fully packed with people. Shows that they do have a serious good business. Their contemporary design with unfancy orangy lighting with wooden and nice chairs to make all of us comfy to dine in the restaurant.

kiki (3)

While we were at Sun Moon Lake we saw this great souvenir to get and give to this 2 great new friends Tina and Eva to thank them for spending so much time with us while we are there. We gave them a token of appreciation of NT 1 mil that shared by me and Pak .. .hahaha. . . .
