First Experience

Browsing

I remember quite long ago when I first start reading blog, this Sarawak laksa known as one of the best in KL that was blog by many bloggers on the quality of the food that similar to be compare to their origins. Little did I remember or I have nearly forgot about this place existence till my friend bring me here to satisfy on their cravings

Kedai Makanan Nam Chun  is a typical coffee shop where you can find in most of housing neighbourhood that house many types of hawker stall but this particular ones house 2 special stalls that have attracted many East Malaysian patrons to be hunting their favourite food which is famous for Sarawak Laksa and Kuching Kolok Mee.

nam chun (2)

Some where along those lines with a few reviews that I read, apparently this is one of the best but with slight inconsistency of quality      ( in other blogger review)

nam chun (3)

Dining in here could be hot and  you would just want to spend a quick 15 to 20 minutes.

nam chun (4)

Here is my bowl of Sarawak Laksa. I have never tried before laksa from the east and this would be  first experience. 2 prawns sitting on top of the noodle nicely decorated to make it colourful for my picture. Slightly thick soup base with a bit sourish, a bit strong taste of coconut milk, spread with some egg slices and  coriander leaves with a bowl cost RM5.00. One of the most unique thing is the special type of vermicelli that they are using, thicker then normal mee hoon.

According to my friend, today’s quality was so so compare to other time that they have had.

nam chun (5)

Kolok Mee, is another type of East Malaysia food that is top with many slices of Char Siew, some fish ball and blend in taste. IT taste normal for me besides that, apologize that the noodle had been stir as she is too hungry and makan first.

nam chun (6)

This is not East Malaysia food already as I was sitting there looking at old uncle cooking, what makes me order that he have a special pot of soup base that added on to cook along and I thought that must be his own soup base that had boil for long time to cook along. Not only that, he also have another side smaller pot that added on alot of mince meat after he had done the instant cooking.

This would have been a good perfect bowl of Instant Pork Noodle Soup if the mince meat wasnt that salty. The uncle is very generous with its ingredient and a huge bowl like that cost RM6.

nam chun (7)

Right after my meal, I was looking something to much some more then discover this little tricycle and went check it out. Its a motor that filled with home made nyonya kuih~

nam chun (8)

When I saw the selection I drool as the texture and quality that this little stall have to offer. By the look and colour texture had attracted me already.

nam chun (9)

I bought nearly everything a piece each. Conclusion, I love it so much and I ta pau another RM10 bucks worth of Kuih. Highly Recommended if you love Nyonya Kuih. One of the best that I come across.

Food rating 7/10 ,  not bad lah, will come try again -Stamped-

I guess that, most of us had travel more frequent now compare to last time, thanks to AirAsia that had made Asian country near with their cheap flights. During last round of Zero fare, I was unable to get those destination cheap then ended up with a very last minute decision heading to Bandung Trip with very cheap fare of return ticket RM85.

I had travel with AirAsia couple of times and this would consider the worst as my flight first got re-schedule for both heading to Bandung and Returning that had cut off our time there a lot. Then when heading to Bandung, flight got delay, then heading back to Malaysia, flight also delay. I guess this would be my very first experience in this. Aiiii. . . .

Direct flight journey was pleasent with their friendly crew from Indonesia that took us about 2 hours journey to reach.

bandung day 1 (1)

Bandara Husein Sastranegara Bandung is a very small air port.

bandung day 1 (2)

bandung day 1 (3)

After we happily spending some time taking pictures at the landed area, then we have to pay the price for being in the line around 45 minutes. With only 2 immegration counter opened as we are the last flight to be in for the day. As we head out from the area was nearly 10.30pm.

bandung day 1 (4)

Then I told Agnes that I want to try out local food, and Bandung being a small town, as around 11pm most of the shops are close and very limited area to get for food, she manage to think of this warung, Warung Nasi Ampera (Ampera Restaurant) which is famous for their very local cuisine, that served Sudanese food. (Sudanese is West Java ethnic), that operates 24 hours.

bandung day 1 (5)

This famous chain restaurant started as early in 1970’s in the capital city of West Java and till to date they have operations of 50 branches around Indonesia and around 30 branches are in Bandung itselves.

bandung day 1 (6)

With their dining area, classic warung decoration style that potray most of their culture, its something like our Kopitiam style.

bandung day 1 (7)

bandung day 1 (8)

As I see the price list, it is quite reasonable.

bandung day 1 (9)

The way the served are more like our economy rice style, that the bench is filled with array of food, then you can pick what you want they will heat it up for you.

bandung day 1 (10)

bandung day 1 (12)

One of their signature classic dish is with this vegetable dip with their very own local sambal.

bandung day 1 (13)

The sambal might be just the look and let me tell you, you dip a bit  then you will feel the flame coming out from your mouth. Its soo spicy yet it is tasty. A must try~

bandung day 1 (14)

bandung day 1 (15)

Their local tea taste abit like our Teh KwanYin with ginger served warm.

bandung day 1 (16)

My all time favourite drink in Indonesia is Teh Botol Sosro. Hardly miss.

bandung day 1 (17)

This is what they Called Lalab, fresh vegetable with sambal which is one of the popular entree for Sudanese Cuisine.

bandung day 1 (18)

Then Agnes and Mosandy order the food for us to share, and they don provide fork and spoon, we have to eat it by using our fingers. Another new challenging thing for me to do yet I have to snap pictures. Petai is good, that the smell of it is not too strong, fermented Tofu had unique in taste, that goes along with rice is perfect. Ribs is highly recommeded, with its soft and juicy meat that I ended order another 2 more. Beef Brisket that had been deep fried with their own spices is another dish to aim for.

At the end of the meal, we had a very satisfy local delights to begin our food and shopping journey. A recommended place by me if you are aiming for local food.

As I walked into the place, I am very suprise to see the interior of it. Contemporary style yet very cosy place to hang out with friends.

bandung day 1 (21)

With their outside area are filled with rattan chairs with soft pillow for us to seat in and the temperature for the night is chill around 20 degree which such a good weather for beer and chilling.

bandung day 1 (22)

As for inside, the VIP area are filled with sofa’s to host you and your friends. ..

bandung day 1 (23)

Another area. .. . .

bandung day 1 (24)

bandung day 1 (25)

The dance floor is quite spacious for grinding and dancing. . .:D

bandung day 1 (26)

When I flip thru the drinks menu, one columm that certainly caught me by suprise is the price for the beer. Guess how much is it for a bigger jug then ours of Heineken? I was price only at RM28 and for a Tower of 3L, it is price at RM55. Its so cheapppppppppp . .. .

As for this festive season menu, I am heading to Iketeru at Hilton Kuala Lumpur for my very first experience on Japanese food in this menu. I never knew that there is one hidden restaurant located at the 8th floor which at the swimming pool area of the hotel, as I always thought that it’s all located at ground and 1st floor.

On this dining, I just got to know there is one special guest is joining us tonight too. One  TV Host.

Right before the entrance of the restaurant, its decorated with traditional mini Japanese garden landscape with fountain, wooden hut placed next to it.
