Food Stall

Browsing

Previously when I was introduce to Anuar’s Fish Head Curry & Indian Apam at Lucky Garden, I was told that this malay food stall also offer great food. Decided to come by since I am on my way back to ease my cravings for apam. Yusof Tomyam is another stall ad the far end that enjoys good business at night.

bangsar (1)

Its funny to see how the guy look at me while eating. .  I can see in the kicthen its operate by young malay chef and its quite busy in there with a few chef in a line.

bangsar (2)

This is one of a very traditional Indian apam next to this Malay stall that I am craving for.

bangsar (3)

Since I was told that thier Tomyum and fish range are a must order then I ordered Ikan Bawal Goreng Tiga Rasa. When it was serve, the aroma of it is so fragrant and can still smell the freshly fried fish smell. The fish is fried to perfection that the skin and tail is so crisps that shower along with this gravy that is so fragrant, with light spicy and sour end. The more I take on the gravy, the more spicy it had become as it cook along with chili padi. NExt is  telur bistik which I forgot to take picture on. Egg fried in gravy that pair with my rice perfectly well.

bangsar (4)

Here comes the Tomyum Chicken. Loving it as it has well balance of spicy and sour to my liking. Chicken is soft that they did not over cook it.

Overall if you are asking me where to get nice Halal food or nice malay food in Bangsar, certainly this is one of the stall that I would be recommending. Decent pricing and the food is above average.

It had been quite a long time since I last step into Pasar Malam (night market) which it had been quite a often outing with my friends during college time. Since then, had rarely been to it not until last week that got a called from my friend asking wanted to go night market which is located at OUG. This is my first time visiting night market in this area and I am quite excited to see what food range they have to offer and operating here on every Thursday starts at 6pm.

Night market in Malaysia do not have a fixed location that operate like Taiwan, if you are looking forward to go night market in Malaysia, it is advice for you to check it out which day and location. The location can spread out over Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Oug

Usually my friends and me will take out some money, one person will hold it as the banker who is in charge of paying all the food and will share by all of us. On that day the place is not that packed as I expected and not that big compare to other night market.

Oug (2)

Besides food, of course they are stalls like selling clothes, some basic utilities, and others.

Oug (3)

When I saw this stall selling this Taiwan Mask a box for RM8 I nearly vomit blood with the pricing here, as I bought 3 box for RM50 at Taiwan and here is RM8 per box that makes me wonder is it fake?

Oug (4)

My hunting begins with this first stall ‘Papa Lai Fried Chicken’ that many people are waiting for it and thought it would be nice.

Oug (5)

Pricing as above. . . . .

Oug (6)

It sure do look like normal fried chicken and the taste is normal, nothing much to brag about, one of the reason being so long queuing is that they need to fried the chicken and a person buying one piece of it, whole group lining up.

Oug (7)

‘Otak-Otak Muar’ is next with promotion of buy 10 free 1 at RM 7.

Oug (8)

Oug (10)

I ate it while its hot and I have just eaten better ones.

Oug (9)

Ice cream that sell in front of the Otak-Otak.

Oug (25)

Among so many food stall that I have came across, this stall is the busiest among all with 3 old lady constantly doing take away for big crowds and this guy is busy frying mini prawn crackers.

Oug (11)

This is one of his signature of the stall, mini prawn cracker.

Oug (12)

Oug (13)

‘Prawn Crackers’

Oug (26)

all the fried dish.

Oug (27)

pricing as above.

Oug (15)

This stall with the word ‘Thai Roast Pork’ surely caught our attention.

Oug (16)

and its ‘Satay Style’ turns out to be not bad if you add on the chili by the side.

Oug (17)

It is purely pork and available with pig spare part.

Oug (18)

Next is this stall caught my attention the most. I pan cake had been one of my favourite but then I have never come across with CEREAL version.

Oug (19)

It is operate by a young lad and with his creativeness and health conscious, he created this version.

Oug (20)

First add on a pack of cereal. . .

Oug (21)

Then add on with the pre mix ingredient and let it harden a bit to add on the peanut and sugar.

Oug (22)

After it is cook nicely, with the skin is thick on the outside and had to cool down before cutting it.

Oug (23)

If you are sick or looking for some healthy option, then you can give this a try as the taste is quite bland but surely its healthy. RM1.30

Oug (28)

‘Fried Kuih Kak’

Oug (29)

Love to  have mine with more bean sprout and add on spicy but on that day according to my friend, the uncle fried it till quite  wet that turns out not so good which usually is quite dry, with wok hei.

Oug (30)

When I was a kid, I love to eat those uncle that ride motorcycle that sells home made ice cream and it has been quite a while I am looking for this ice-cream. Poo’s Ice Cream which is operate by one old uncle that do those home made ice-cream that I had missed.

Oug (31)

The flavour of that day was Cendul and it is good, smooth, not that sweet and thick in flavour. RM1

Oug (32)

When I first walk through this ‘Nasi Lemak’ the amount of ingredient that left there was still a lot and after 40 minutes walk back, it is nearly sold out. Then we decided to try a pack. The rice is fragrant with coconut milk and pandan flavor and the best part is add in their own dry sambal udang to add the extra kick in it.

I feel that this night market is quite small and not many food or stalls available, so far I still prefer the one at Cheras-Leisure Mall or SS2 but after this food outing, I have decided to hunt for other night market too, especially on Wednesday at Cheras which is one of the biggest.

Most of the time when I am back to Penang, I would always try to dine in this place or my friend would eventually suggest this place also. This western food stall is quite well known to alot of people in Penang for its price, serving and the quality but it is always a pain in the ass as have to wait quite long.

This is the point where you order your choice.

With the price list and variety available, it sure wont disappoint you.

I do not know why, most of the time I would order this ‘Mushroom Soup’ which had a style of its own, taste a bit like Campbell soup but with their own recipe, a bit thick in flavour yet a very small pieces of mushroom chunks in it and also button mushroom slices. RM3 (if not mistaken)
‘Chicken Chop’ which happens to be one of our favourite in our ordering since from high school till now. A very plain style but the best thing was the gravy that shower on it. Well fried with crispy on the outer layer yet the chicken taste soft in the inside. RM6.50

‘Chicken Maryland’ not my type of order which comes out to be everything very dry, but my friend do like it very much. RM8

My usual order ‘Mixed Grill’ RM15 which had a price increase already but still with the amount of meat I got no complain, as it comes with lamb, pork, beef, bacon, egg and sausages. One plate is enough to kill me. My order of this as I always request for the ‘Chicken Chop Gravy’ which goes along with it perfectly.

Advisable to go there early or after 11 to avoid long wait. If you are very hungry, I would not advise to go there also. The usual wait if you are lucky 20 mins is the fastest. One of my favourite place to look for western food, which I still think the price is quite cheap. This place is very easily spotted as its just right on the roadside. Recommended~

After very disappointed lunch and still hungry cuz did not finish the meal and thought of having desert here, again as alot of times I passby saw quite alot of ppl and the food they offer seems good.
The food stall is mange by 2-3 auntie, thought that ppl around that age would cook good food. As I look around alot of ppl are eating the Nasi Lemak which I think is their signature food. Judging from the Nasi Lemak it is a very plain, just with egg, nuts, anchovies and sambal. Do not look tempting to me.

This is the look of the stall.

From the picture of the ‘Tong Sui’ it sure look very nice and so to be happened that on that day itself I forgot to walk over to see the quality of the ‘Tong Sui’ as you can peek at the counter where they warm it with rice cooker.

This is what I order Yi Mai Fu Chuk (front) and ‘Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut Milk’(back)

To my dismay, I was like so watery till ike drinking water. Do Not look like tong sui at all! The ingredient that they gave in there is like 1/8 of the bowl the rest is water. Too little. The taste totally gone..no sweetness or the taste of fu chuk or bali. Hopeless drink. I only manage to drink 3 sip.

This is the ‘Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut Milk’. By looking at the picture will know that it is a bad 1. I have never seen such tong sui before. Not sticky, the coconut milk like mix with water as the colour of it is so pale.

The Bak Chang’ also not nice, it is dry, full with nuts and abit tasteless. Quite expensive for noting much in a chang. Only nuts, salted egg yolk and mushroom.
Total for the 3 item is RM10 which is WTF!!! with the quality they are serving. Just not my lunch day. Eat every thing also tasteless and down loh~~~
Just wondering, the food is so not nice, why is it still so many people?

It was a rainy day, and also on weekend which I usually dine with my family on sat night or Sunday night then wanted to go a street nearby Campbell street to eat the char koey teow, mana tau did not open..aiii~ so switch to my dad’s favourite area. Northam Beach Cafe whereby a kopitam with East Meet West Meet Local food paradise. This Cafe a.k.a more standard kopitiam, offers variety of food like Western, French, Mexican, Japanese, Italian, German, Pizza and local food. One of a few stalls that must not miss which is the French, Italian, German, Jawa Mee, Char Hor Fun and Hokkien Char.

This are the outlook of the cafe.

This is the place where usually pack with people is because by the sea with not bad view. Cooling compare to the inside.

It is a big hawker offering lots of food. Was raining that day.

My mom was having ‘Hokkien Char’ which is one of her favourite in this hawker center. It is from the same stall as Char Hor Fun as as strong wok taste, not too salty, mix with some sambal given, wow, the taste is just nice, plate licking good.
This is the ‘Char Hor Fun’. Highly recommended. Got the wok taste and got the hor fun feel not like the one in KL a bit different in taste. The soup is thick in taste and the egg is perfectly match the taste in there which is my dad’s favourite.
This is one of the worst food I had in there, a fried potato with, don know what and what as all three pieces is different flavour but turns out to be all the same. Forgot to ask my parents as they said that they food on that stall not nice which is just next to the French Food stall.
This is from the Mexican Food stall and it is ‘Mexican Combo’. Well, was told by my dad it is nice so decided to try, before ordering the food, I was standing in front of the stall look at that lady cooking. She seems alright in cooking so decided to order. To my disappointment the food does not taste nice. Maybe I have taste before a better one and this is just not my choice. RM11 for this.
This is the firewood pizza as I order ‘Chicken Hawaiian’. Thin layer for the base, nicely baked in their special oven. Has some herb taste and maybe the pineapple that they use that day a bit sour if sweeter abit, will be very nice piece of pizza which I don mind to recommend.
This is from our favourite stall which we rarely miss. One of their signature is ‘Chicken Pie’ with a chicken and mushroom soup base in there. The soup is not too thick and not too watery, goes along very well with the crust of the pie and they were never ‘kiam siap‘ as inside the soup is rich of ingredient like chicken, mushroom and some vegie. RM9.50 for this.

AT LAST I manage to find back this western food stall which were located beside Green House Kopitiam, which my friend introduce to me famous for its Corden Bleu…Then let my friend kutuk me saying I outdate, they have been here for quite some time d.

Their kitchen looks more like a good western food stall already.

This is their menu with limited choice to choose from and those in red are consider their signature. They have slightly increase in price which I think is reasonable as the last time I dine was bout 6 years ago. Lol

Again I ordered ‘Mushroom Soup’. Which the price thought of just try la… Very nice and creamy, quite alot of mushroom slice in there as every scoop you took up there will be mushroom in there. RM4 only.

The next order was ‘Ribeye Steak’ medium rare. I got shock when the portion was serve. I am like ‘wowwww, so big piece punya lembu’.. I cant take beef so no comment on this as I get to know this is one of the nicest also mention by my friend as not many hawker area western food can cook something out like this. RM19.50 for this fat ribeye.

This is of course my favourite back in those donkey days. So I ordered back the same thing. ‘Chicken Corden Bleu’. When got served I was quite happy with the condition, as expected dry and golden brown. Once I use my knife cut it open, the cheeze in there start flowing out, you know like those water overflow, someting like that. It is stuff with ham and cheeze. With the first mouth into this mouth watering bleu, it just taste as nice as back in those days. Still have not dissapoint me after last ate it. Still have the cheeze taste yet you can still taste the ham and chicken with the strong aroma after being stuff in there and fried. Cost RM9 which I think is reasonable. The last time I ate was RM6.50 6 years back.
