After taking along break from MCO last year till now, I am quite sure some of you are craving some kampung flavours. This year, Quan’s Kitchen at the Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown preparing their Ramadan 2021 with Bazar Selera, a culinary marketplace back to the ancient Silk Road and nostalgic Malay flavors.

Inspired by the country’s melting pot of culture,  which was once a major stopping point and important centre where intellectuals from all across the world gather to share ideas and exchange goods. The cross-cultural interactions and civilizations introduced a unique and complex fare using trade ingredients and cooking methods influenced by traders and conquerors in the early years.

A curated a menu by Executive Chef Gerald Chong that will bring you on an epicurean journey back to the ancient trade route of Silk Road, bring you the flavours like Live Lanzhou La Mien, Xinjiang Roast Lamb, Uzbek Plov, Ikan Patin Tempoyak, Sambal Udang Petai, Kari Kambing, Satay, Lemang, Satar, Otak Otak and many other classics..
Ending with manis note of Persian Saffron Brittle or Soham e-Qom, Fried Ice Cream, Kuih Muih, Cendol, Ice Kacang and Teh Tarik!

The traditional hand pulled Lan Zhou La Mien, is the first station that I hit on. Rarely say no to hand pull noodle station.

This is one of the most unique yee sang that I have come across this year. Da BEST! Their signature ingredient is a A mix of smoked meat (Bak Kua) that gives this Triple Prosperity Yee Sang (Half portion for RM 38 and full portion for RM 68) one of its kind that featuring a trio of Chicken Bak Kwa, Chicken Lap Cheong and Chicken Crisps drizzled with a sweet and tangy pineapple and apricot dressing.

This is so good as the smokey flavour of the bak kua and the tangerine sourish taste of the sauce that mix pretty well.

Legend has it that Pun Choi, a colossal one pot meal was thrown together by villagers with limited resources in the Song Dynasty for the royal family fleeing the Mongols. They gathered their best ingredients and cooked them in a big pot giving birth to this celebrated dish. We pay homage to history and tradition with the Eight Treasure Happiness Pot, an extravagant one pot feast brimming with 10-Head Abalone, Tiger Prawns, Fish Maw, Hokkaido Scallops, Roast Duck and Steamed Chicken. To add to the fanfare, enjoy colorful decorations and live performances like Guzheng Instrumental, Chinese Knots, Lion Dance and Traditional Calligraphy from January 24th – 26th for the Classic Chinatown Buffet Dinner, served from 6.30pm – 10.30pm at RM 138 nett. The expansive buffet features international favorites alongside local food from Satay Celup, Dim Sum to a Chicken and Duck Rice carving station.
