There are some restaurant are just unique in a way and why I mention that is this new restaurant that open to its door to public 2 months ago are serving fresh seafood to you and there are no plates and cutleries being provided. To enjoy the maximum feel of the food is you have to eat it with your hand. Shell Out Seafood restaurant is inspired from US itself as the owner just came back from the states and decided to do something similar for us to try it out.

shell seafood (1)

Shell Out Seafood is one of another restaurant tug inside this busy area where carpark can be a huge problem during day and night, there will be more luck for us. 🙂

shell seafood (2)

Interior here are pretty, as they decorate in a way that we are dining in a mini fishing village that is indoor version, with wooden seating arrangement, fishing net as the wall and you can see crab, fishes on the net too.

shell seafood (3)

It also gives me the Taiwan feeling when I visited one of the cafe last round. They do provide alot of colourful pen for you to pen down anywhere in the shop to make it more creative design as part of their interior.

shell seafood (4)

Menu here is very straight forward as they serve most of the items with shell as mains. That’s how the name of the shop came about.

shell seafood (5)

Set lunch that they are offering are considering cheap. For all your seafood, you can pick the sauce that you would love to add in that comes with 4 types of flavour to add on, Cajun Sensation, Lemon Pepper, Butter Garlic, Spice Up – with 3 level and Shell Bang(which is all sauce mix into one)

shell seafood (6)

Before you eat, you will be given a neck napkins is to prevent the messy sauce flying over and landed on our shirt. We love their quote. Life is too Short to be Serious. Let’s EAT!

shell seafood (7)

Fried Sweet Potato makes a good starter as its being introduce to us,  selling at RM 8.90 per basket. The Fried Fish Basket serves deep fried baby pomfret that is crispy inside out @ RM 10.90 per basket.

shell seafood (8)

When you do not have a proper dining area as they pave the whole table with a huge chocolate sheet of dining paper, and sauce are given to us. See what happen to the table and food. Turn into art pieces.

shell seafood (9)

Seafood serve here is very unique as I said they doesnt serve along with plates and the come in bag. It remind me of MacD shaker fries as this is seafood shaker. 😀

shell seafood (10)

Upon our order, it goes by gram. This is 250 g for 5 pax of us with Scallop in 1/2 shell with Butter Garlic sensation (mild) – The scallops were well marinated, shaken in the bag and till butter garlic paste, are landed evenly. Scallop is so fresh and the flavour is little spicy with lemon sour end. Obvious that they have added lemon in but its fragrant enough to make your engine once start, its hard for you to stop.. Its too little and I guess 500g would be a perfect fit.

Price: RM17.90/250g | RM35.90/500g

shell seafood (13)

Another 2 item that came about is Prawns and Clam

shell seafood (11)

Clam (LALA) in Lemon Pepper sensation (mild) – Fresh clams well marinated in lemon pepper paste, tasted really flavourful especially after squeezed in the lemon juices on it. It has mild peppery taste too.

Price: RM15.90/500g ; RM29.90/1kg

shell seafood (12)

Prawns here are so fresh that I love the texture of the meat, solid and light chewy, with the flavour added on Butter Garlic making it perfect in taste. Not too heavy flavoured, yet you can taste on the mild butter and garlic end. Do squeeze lemon into it, it brings the flavour out more prominent.

King Prawn in Butter Garlic sensation (mild) – @ RM28.90/300g | RM39.90/500g | RM75.90/1kg

shell seafood (14)

This is what we really mean when no tables and cutlers are given. Making sure our finger licking good sensation..keke

shell seafood (15)

Next is interesting as it pack with  jumbo sausages, corn (are all additional added items) with Crawfish (YABBIES) in Cajun Sensation + Butter Garlic + Lemon Pepper sensation (OMG lvl 3)

shell seafood (16)

The taste of it is very unique is like when you cook something fail then you add on whatever ingredient you have then it turns out to be goodFlavour is blended pretty well with sour, spicy, sour and mild sweet is tasted and its a must try for all of you. Spicy OMG lvl 3 is not really spicy after all. We thought that we gonna have huge drop of sweat and tongue go numb and its no where near that.

Price: RM45.90/500g RM78.90/1kg

shell seafood (17)

The most unique seafood that we have on table for that night is Japanese Snails in Cajun Sensation + Butter Garlic + Lemon Pepper sensation (mild)

shell seafood (18)

I must say that the snails are huge and Caroline and Eric is like yew.. don want eat can ah . .

shell seafood (19)

Still need to try at least once. See its, really a huge snail, and the texture is pretty unique that the head part is pretty chewy, centerpart is pretty soft and the tail is really really soft till like taufufa already. Dip with more sauce and you wont feel it. Its like eating some unagi experience for me la.

shell seafood (20)

Crab in Cajun Sensation + Butter Garlic + Lemon Pepper sensation (mild) @ market price.

shell seafood (21)

This is how messy it had turn into by the end of the meal. If you are looking for some new dining experience, do come by this shop and its pretty interesting. Of course you can mix and play with the sauces which is available then my own preference, I would recommend Butter Garlic for Prawns/ Crabs follow by Cajun Sensation + Butter Garlic + Lemon Pepper sensation (OMG lvl 3) .

shell seafood (22)

Since all of us are here, we conteng conteng on their panel also.:D

Its a seafood restaurant and do expect to pay a bit more for this. Please please do order beer. Pairs so well. Yummz!

To get good Indonesian food locally in Malaysia is not easy. Found good ones yet the price is slightly high and not till recently, found out one outlet Restaurant Waroeng Oma that serve authentic Javanese Food that is pretty good, located in Sunway Mentari. We order quite a lot and did not realise that the owner is sitting just right there and she came to our table and greet us. Along that, get to know she is from Indonesia and this outlet is a compilation of recepi.

java (1)

this outlet is pretty easy to find as its facing the main road and few doors away from McD.

java (2)

Then the owner told us, if we love spicy food we should try their own homemade sambal. 3 types available and really depends your kind of preference and taste. The first one is sour mild spicy, middle one is more aromatic spice taste with spicinesss kicks in after a few bite and last one with fiery red, that doesnt look very spicy yet we are wrong, it gives the after spiciness too.

java (3)

Tried out with their Soto Ayam and turns out to be good,  that came out the soup already pass our criteria that to be yellowish that can be done in 2 version, lontong or vermicelli. Served with hard-boiled eggs, chicken slices and bean sprout, turns out to be good and quite authentic. Then I added their fiery red sambal in to make it extra kick. Remark, do not put too much as its really spicy.

java (4)

How can I resist Bakso, with the soup is serve pippin hot chewy springy beef balls that goes along with the soup.

java (5)

Ayam Bakar is another version of their food, that its being grill till some parts are slightly burnt as it is and to eat with this, must eat along with their fiery red sambal.

java (6)

Ayam Goreng Penyet, does comes with rice but we told her we did not want it cuz we are ordering more food to try out. Live up the expectation of look and taste hail all they way from Indonesia, well season and fried. We ended up order another 2 more portion. – Recommended!

java (7)

This Fried Fish(I have forgotten what is the exact name) is introduce by the owner too, its fresh and the meat is soft yet  its pretty huge. For those who don really take chicken meat with fish is the option, then this would be recommended!

java (8)

Nasi Uduk was highly recommended by the owner and we ordered that. True enough, it surprise us with the fragrant santan rice top with egg slices, with the little side dish that compliments well with it and best of all is the chicken been season to perfection that its very fragrant with light ginger and fried till crisp. Top of that with crunchy flakes to make it compliments better.

java (9)

Their ABC special is presented very colourful with the syrup taste very unique. 😀

As I went back early for this dining and I must say, for CHEAP authentic Indonesian food, this is the place to be. Their main range from RM6.50-RM12. Cheap right, I plan to visit this outlet soon again along with the awesome Martabak Manis(click here) not to be miss. Highly Recommended outlet~

Previously when I was introduce to Anuar’s Fish Head Curry & Indian Apam at Lucky Garden, I was told that this malay food stall also offer great food. Decided to come by since I am on my way back to ease my cravings for apam. Yusof Tomyam is another stall ad the far end that enjoys good business at night.

bangsar (1)

Its funny to see how the guy look at me while eating. .  I can see in the kicthen its operate by young malay chef and its quite busy in there with a few chef in a line.

bangsar (2)

This is one of a very traditional Indian apam next to this Malay stall that I am craving for.

bangsar (3)

Since I was told that thier Tomyum and fish range are a must order then I ordered Ikan Bawal Goreng Tiga Rasa. When it was serve, the aroma of it is so fragrant and can still smell the freshly fried fish smell. The fish is fried to perfection that the skin and tail is so crisps that shower along with this gravy that is so fragrant, with light spicy and sour end. The more I take on the gravy, the more spicy it had become as it cook along with chili padi. NExt is  telur bistik which I forgot to take picture on. Egg fried in gravy that pair with my rice perfectly well.

bangsar (4)

Here comes the Tomyum Chicken. Loving it as it has well balance of spicy and sour to my liking. Chicken is soft that they did not over cook it.

Overall if you are asking me where to get nice Halal food or nice malay food in Bangsar, certainly this is one of the stall that I would be recommending. Decent pricing and the food is above average.

Past weekend, I get a chance to follow BangsarBabe for lunch outing. Then she introduce us one of her favourite spot in Lucky Garden that she come very often which is Anuar’s Kari Kepala Ikan (Anuar’s Fish Head Curry)/ Bangsar Fish Head corner. On this spot, its hard for you to miss as during lunch time, it will be very pack and long queue.

bangsar (1)

Then only get to know that, he is no stranger to many local residence there and had attracted many loyal patrons since operating the business 30 years ago.

bangsar (2)

bangsar (3)

This is one of the most simplest stall that I ever come accross that attracted so long queue, with the stall only selling, fried chicken, fried fish and curry fish head,

bangsar (4)

bangsar (5)

The fried chicken is hard to resist whereby I thought I only wanted a piece and ended up having another 2 more. Fried to crisp and well marinated that make it flavorful. Not a big piece but just nice.

bangsar (6)

Then Riff told us, Sotong is a must and fried fish. For curry fish head, usually he and bangsarbabe could not finish and since so many of us here, we must eat the fish head. All are good, with sotong is fresh and chewy, well marinated, curry fish head is huge and curry is mild follow with pairing of fried fish. Just perfect.

Now only I understand why its famous because if you wanna get cheap good food, this is one of the place to hunt for it. Limited choices but good enough to please our tummy.

bangsar (7)

After our heavy meal, a stone throw away, comes to this famous Indian Apam which is a must have after your meal. A very traditional type of eatery that I came across for the first time.

bangsar (8)

Alot people came here for the Tosei and others.

bangsar (9)

This is another busy stall known as OM Shakti Chelo’s Appam stall, sell vegetarian food.

bangsar (10)

bangsar (11)

This lady busy preparing and coordination with 6 woks to meet customers demand, as this apam is cook with small fire.

bangsar (12)

Order Mee Goreng, its pretty plain and nothing to shout about or maybe in my mind, I was thinking of Penang Mee Goreng.

bangsar (13)

This is the famous Indian Classic/traditional apam. I have never come across in this version. It was done with perfection that it smells so good.

bangsar (14)

Crisp on all corner that is aromatic that I even steal my friends portion and right in the middle is filled with coconut milk and sugar. A bit moist and enjoying every bite of it.

If you are looking for cheap eats in Bangsar, then head to Lucky Garden to hunt for cheap nice food.

Heee, as some of you might have seen my previous post on Famous Yew Char Kuih & Ham Chi Peng that is located next to them, is actually related as I went on the same day. Lets head to next door which is the famous Zi Wei Yuen Steamboat Restaurant which is very famous in Raja Uda. One of the reason they are famous is because of the soup base, which is the only super important ingredient for steamboat.

zi wei (1)

I have been talking with my family and friends to come and dine at this restaurant for like bout 1 n half years already till date it was all wrong timing and since this round I am quite free and my friends love this restaurant, the agreed without any hesitation since its their favorite also.

zi wei (2)

To make an efford here, it is highly advise to reach here before 7pm or after 9pm as during peak dinner hours, you have to fight with  many families to get a spot in the area as its super pack.

zi wei (3)

This is what I mean as those who are standing are hunting for a table, so you better disperse your family members or friends to get a spot.

zi wei (4)

We lazy to order what is in the menu therefore we go for their set dinner, my friends opted for the most expensive set RM220 that consist of at least 10-14 items if I am not mistaken.

zi wei (5)

zi wei (6)

zi wei (7)

zi wei (8)

zi wei (9)

All the hungry people are ready in action . .

zi wei (10)

One of the thing that they are famous for is their special signature Fish Head Steamboat that available in two version, with fried fish head or the steam type. We choose the steam type then another attraction is that their soup base is milky version that you cant really find that in Penang and mostly I would say its the KL version.

Not only that, they use charcoal steamboat version to make it more nice. I only have charcoal steamboat when I went back to my grandmother’s village at some where deep in mainland only get to enjoy it.

zi wei (11)

This is what happen when the pour everything inside and waiting for it to boil as charcoal takes time to make it cook.

Find that the soup base is aromatic and sweet, as you can taste that they really take something to boil it long time to make it there and milky version of soup just make it look interesting. As you refill the soup many times then the soup gets more salty towards the end and the base.

zi wei (13)

Another thing that best pair with the steamboat is their own homemade chili sauce, that dip along with the ingredient is just perfect.

After a while after the dinner most of us gets very thirsty and I guess that they have added on alot of MSG to make us drink lots of water after that. No doubt that the soup base is good that we drank alot of the soup and just need to drink alot of water hours later. 😀

Its pretty good and worth to try. . .

Some of us would have dinner outside almost everyday. Sometimes, we are just lost in hunting for what to eat on next meal. There is one outlet that newly operated in Sunway Pyramid new wing that sit directly across Starbucks is this famous restaurant chain from Singapore, Paradise Inn. Yes correct! I think you have the same thought as me when I was like huh? A restaurant not a hotel? Well, the word Inn definitely mislead many of us yet it is confirm that its not a hotel and it is actually a restaurant.

Paradise Inn (1)

The restaurant is decorated back into the olden days with contemporary look as you can see at the main entrance is like back to the 70’s style design high class restaurant at that time.

Paradise Inn (2)

Paradise Inn is one of a well know restaurant chain in Singapore that they provide good home cook style food at a very reasonable price.

Paradise Inn (3)

The food in the menu looks very tempting, everything in it looks good~

Paradise Inn (4)

One of their signature is their double boil soup that I can see nearly all tables have this classic pot sitting at their table.

Paradise Inn (5)_resize

I love the drinks that they are offering with a very light hint combination of the flavours and my fav is the one in the middle, which is one of the best seller (I suddenly forgot the name) then follow by Lavender Tea filled with some natural herbs and flowers like chrysanthemum too.

Paradise Inn (8)

Traditional double boil soup – Clam with pork ribsRM39.90/pot

Paradise Inn (9)

since every one order this, we were serve along to try it out along. This pot is enough to feed for 2-4 pax.

Paradise Inn (10)

Very clear in taste yet boil till the soup is aromatic, something that I have miss for quite some time and now I know where to hunt for nice double boil soup that is added into my list.

Paradise Inn (12)

Crisp-fried Crystal Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk one of the must order item. A prawn that had peel all the skins out and cook along that the whole prawn meat chew in your mouth blends with aromatic fried salted egg along just burst in flavour in your mouth. I always prefer to have prawns that already peel off its shell so can get the full taste of it. @ RM 29.90

Paradise Inn (13)

Crispy fried Fish With Preserved Bean Paste (Nam Yue) – Dory Fish fillet battered with preserved bean paste that fried till crisp on all side.

Paradise Inn (14)

Sliced Tea Smoke Duck is something for you to go for a start and chew, well marinated and finely cut slice is just enough to keep you going. @ RM 12.90

Paradise Inn (15)

Another one of my favourite which is Crisp-fried Crystal Prawns in Wasabi Mayo Sauce. Sauce is not too watery that is just at the right texture to coat along with the prawns and at the end of the taste a hint of spiciness that just burns your nose a bit.  @ RM 29.90

Paradise Inn (16)

Seafood Supreme Fried Rice is cook with ‘wok hei’ till its a bit dry and best part is you wont see a fried rice that cook along with Ebiko. Its unique. @ RM19.90

Paradise Inn (17)

This is one of my all time favourite, that I had this so often when I was in Melbourne and came back not many people can cook this well. Certainly Poached Chinese Spinach with Egg Trio and Minced Pork in Superior Stock is one of the recommended dish also that cook along with 3 types of eggs (Century egg, salted egg and normal egg) and mince meat. @ RM16

Paradise Inn (18)

The melt-in-your-mouth meat dishes, the Stewed Pork Belly Served with Lotus Bun

Paradise Inn (19)

It would be best to order along this Fluffy lotus bun as it is made fresh upon order.

Paradise Inn (20)

This is how you eat the stew pork with the bun, its one of the way and if you prefer to eat it without the bun also would be a perfect pair with your rice, because of its great sauce.

Paradise Inn (21)

I never like eggplant before because of its soft moist texture and after I have try good food when I was in Hong Kong i fall in love with this dish. Stewed Eggplant with Minced Pork and Salted Fish in Claypot that will pair along very well with your rice as the taste of it just absorbs. @ RM16

Paradise Inn (22)

One of a unique dish for the day is Coffee Pork Ribs, its a bit bitter at the end taste as that’s the result of coffee flavor. Very well prepared as the coffee taste do not over power their sauce that cook along. @ RM 19.90

Paradise Inn (23)

Crisp-fried Shrimp Paste Chicken crisp from inside out. @ RM18

Paradise Inn (24)

Braised Vermicelli with Pork Trotters is something that I used cook often when I am at oversea and now they have it here too. Its not too salty as it looks and the taste of pork trotters is in it without the vermicelli fried too dry. @ RM19.90

Paradise Inn (25)

Braised Tofu with Crystal Prawns @ RM25

Paradise Inn (26)_resize

At the end of the dinner, how can we not have desert when I scroll thru their desert page I am tempted to order all to try. So I guess my wish was granted and we have all it here. Corn and Barley, Mango Desert and Chilled Lemongrass Jelly with Lemonade

Paradise Inn (27)_resize

Mango Pudding, Black Sesame Paste and Almond

Paradise Inn (33)_resize

Double-boiled Hasma with Red Dates and Longan and Black Glutinous with tong yuen.

At the end of the meal, I was so full and satisfied, as rarely a Chinese restaurant that would serve quite a good range of food and taste is control best of all the price is very reasonable.. Definately I am looking foward to come back and dine here.

One of a recommended Restaurant!~
