First installation of H-Artistry took off in Penang on Wesak weekend, as most of us are partying with another 2000 more party revelers in this arena. H-Artistry which had begun back as early as 2008 and now this would be the second installment for Penang. Its good to see that the staging and everything is bigger compare to last year, along with an all-new setup, world-class production and a stellar line-up of artists from Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore

HA (1)

We are there as early as 7.30pm right after dinner and head to party scene to check it out. As usual, they are all well organise on the whole event to prevent any massive jam on the queuing.

HA (2)

and of course with many of KL bloggers are up in the party scene and how can I not enjoy this round.

HA (3)

HA (4)

As for this round, H-Artistry have their new set up which is slightly different from last year, especially on the photobooth. Last year they have the 360Degree signature and this round .. they are back with something classic.

HA (5)

At the main hall, before opening up the main area, all of us are greeted with Hennessy drinks.

HA (6)

This is the first photobooth known as “Hennessy Moments” at the “Fotobox” with Hennessy Bottle decoration in it and there are 2 of these. One with single shot and another one with multiple shot of 3 seconds for 3 shots(we creatively pose 3 pose) 😀

HA (7)

HA (9)

HA (11)

The usual not to be miss is they have Hennessy V.S.O.P signature long drinks with Hennessy Apple, Hennessy Berry, Hennessy Ginger and Hennessy Soda which were served throughout the night.

HA (12)

HA (13)

Then comes along with some of my Penang best friend into the party scene. . .

HA (14)

Right before the main act, the countdown culminated with an electrifying laser show and striking LED visuals, which kicked off the night’s performances with Julie Woon welcoming every one.

HA (15)

Then 24HERBS, surprise  party goers by taking the stage. The Hong Kong hip hop outfit was bursting with energy, drawing the crowd in with their infectious stage presence as they demonstrated the credibility of Canto hip hop.

HA (16)

With the siau poh’s from Penang  I always party, drink, and eat.. .

HA (17)

With Yuki, Anna and Kelly. .

HA (18)

And how can I miss my bestie Louise and Kelly ..

HA (19)

Then  after 24Herbs with the dimming of stage lights, Dennis Lau, clad in a laser-projecting jacket – took the stage with his electric violin, bringing the crowd to an all-new high as he started off with a violin introduction of Swedish House Mafia’s hit “Don’t You Worry Child”.

HA (20)

HA (21)

Next act is Andy Murphy went on to administer an astounding set of EDM and Big Room tunes for the next hour, firmly setting the momentum of the night with pulsating beats and fist-pumping drops. Taking over from Andy was Singapore’s biggest female DJ export Nicole Chen, who brought her popular style of Electro House and Dirty Dutch onto the H-Artistry stage. Both DJs’ sets, bolstered in intervals by a gorgeous dance crew and breath taking laser projections, shot the energy levels through the roof at H-Artistry as party goers danced through the night with glasses of Hennessy V.S.O.P in hand.

HA (23)

This is the crazy crowd we are looking at for Penang Revelers. . .

HA (30)

With Don the tai lou . .

HA (31)

Partying at VIP zone is nice and manage to take a picture with Andy Murphy . .

HA (29)

Hennessy night in Penang is fun and of course without this whole group of people, my Hennessy experience would not be complete. . .

HA (26)

At the end of the night, drink sensibly not to overdoze like my best friend here. He is lucky being taken care by 2 girls. . kekek

see you all at next installment of H-Artistry . .

Have some of you enjoy your little long weekend over Wesak Day? I did, I had a great party and great dining while I am at Penang. I had lunch with my friend to a place which I have not been since I was a kid. Yap, this shop is quite old already as when I was a kid my grandpa used to bring me here for his favourite plate of chicken rice.

chicken rice (1)

Kedai Makanan & Minuman Hock Seong Choon that located at Penang Road house this famous chicken rice that is quite extra ordinary. A place used to be so famous 20 years ago and till date still standing tall on its business with their very own regular. Offering traditional Chicken Rice in another way, that Dark/Black soy sauce is one of the  main ingredient for the chicken.

chicken rice (2)

chicken rice (4)

The shop is more well know for their dark chicken instead of the white ones.

chicken rice (5)

chicken rice (6)

Dining in here can be another experience as this is one of a few rare coffee shop that still maintain its classic dining area with wooden cubical at the side and wooden table and plastic chairs in the  middle area, along with cheque titles that remains the heritage look of it.

chicken rice (7)

A normal plate of Hainanese Chicken Rice for single person comes in a side plate of chicken, a bowl of soup and I did order extra herbal egg to go on. @ RM 4-RM 10

chicken rice (8)

Oily rice are used here as they cook the rice with some chicken soup to make it more fragrant. Little ginger is detected.

chicken rice (9)

AS for the special homemade dark soy sauce are added ontop of the roast chicken, to make it more fragrant, not too dry and easy to eat. The taste is little sweet salty and I would prefer my side of chicken is drumstick. Love the chicken texture at that part and my friend whom usually do not eat chicken breast and he would only eat here as the sauce did tone down the hardness and make it nice to chew.

chicken rice (10)

Although the famous one are the roast chicken, I like the white chicken more as the texture of the meat is smooth and cook to perfection along with the sauce added on makes it taste much better.

chicken rice (11)

Herbal egg is a little disappointed as with the term Herbal Egg, there is not much taste of herbal is detected. This herbal egg is ordered separately from the coffee shop owner.

chicken rice (12)

To make the chicken taste more interesting, try to pair with their very own homemade green chili sauce dressing, light spicy with sourish end and you will enjoy all 4 taste in one plate.

This place do bring back alot memories for me and if you are looking for something little different from the rest of Hainanese Chicken Rice, then its good to try it this version here.

DO note that the event is in PENANG.

While we were on the way back from our great exploration of a homestay that is located in Orchard Heights at Karak (click here), we were introduce by Major Ng there is a restaurant that we need to hunt on the way back we need to stop by Bentong right before into Genting tunnel if you coming from Karak, as to disappointment that restaurant, closed for private function. As for second alternative that we got introduce is Restaurant 126 along the stretch.

126 (1)

Its a simple Chinese restaurant with plastic chairs and wooden round table.

126 (2)

This is their signature dish, Pork Noodle @ RM 25 – as the pork slice being deep fried to perfection as every bite is filled with cracking sound if the pork doesnt soak too long in the dark sauce. Can taste that the yee mee noodle is more like a homemade version, springy and we ordered another plate of this with a comment “wah lau, can finish meh” ended up finish also. Highly Recommneded~

126 (3)

With Something soupy, we  were introduce with mee hoon with fresh ginger chicken. The soup definately taste ginger spicy as they cook along with lots of ginger, and its very nice. Next round I would order less mee hoon more soup.

126 (4)

Kai Lan with Garlic slice.

126 (5)

126 (6)

Order Fish slice, with mushroom and vegetable.

126 (7)

Wild Boar Pork Curry is another dish that we are enjoying with light spicy and pork being slice thin and cook to perfection.

126 (8)

Second in our top list for the lunch is this Marmite Pai Kuat, well caramelize with sauce and its satisfying. Recommended.

126 (9)

Who can read the bill please help me translate too. It comes with a total with this for 8 pax. Still cheap.

If you wanna make a turn before Genting, you sureby can stop at this area if you coming from KL, as this row of shop house is located right after Genting Tunnel and you have to drive another 15 mins down hill to find the next U turn. It would be another great pit stop for food. Recommended!

Instagram really had made friends connected more and I do follow a bunch of hungry goers and whenever they always eat, sure they will insta first. I guess now insta had become a term of it. Nevertheless I came accross Kelly’s Insta when she said she had one of the best ajitsuke tamago, along with comment in this ramen shop is worth trying, can be rated as one of the best Ramen in KL City or within Golden Triangle is this Marutama Ramen.

Since I am in KL and its rainy Sunday yesterday, will make it a pit stop then. Located on 1st floor in Farenheit 88 located this Ramen Shop hidden at the back corner. Manage to find it thru Foursquare (I guess app now pretty usefull).

Mafu (1)

Mafu (2)

With traditional Japanese dining ambiance.

Mafu (3)

I never have enough when comes to ramen add on. Will usually top up.

Mafu (4)

Price in the menu are pretty decent, not only that, I am keen to try how their chicken broth will taste like. Since most of my favourite came from is with pork bone or pork soup.

Mafu (5)

They are being generous with the ingredient with unlimited fried garlic. I just took one slice and eat it just like that, crispy and flavourful. Just perfect to be added onto the ramen.

Mafu (6)

I will as always try on Gyoza (餃子) for RM10. I would say that one of a great quality gyoza that the ingredient that added in is pretty solid, soft meat with hint of ginger soak along chili oild and vinegar base make it nice to bite.

Mafu (7)

Among in the list, what attracted me the most is this combo Kakuni Tamago, @ RM 27 that have all the ingredient that I want, with ajitsuke tamago, slice pork and pork belly. When this was serve, I look down on this petite bowl and thinking will it ever fill my stomach, then quickly I took my spoon and sip on the soup base as very keen how chicken soup base would taste like. Surpise with the taste, thick and flavorful that I continuesly drinking for a few more sips before I stop.

Mafu (8)

Ramen is pretty springy in thinner version and it was not over cook.

Mafu (9)

This is what Kelly meant, and I have to agree with her that its one of the best egg with egg yolk can be ooze out and well season. Every bite is soft and I don mind to order 2-3 more for this. Its a must have in your ramen if you do come here.

I am surprise to dine ramen with such great soup base especially with Chicken Soup base. A soup base that had been boil for hours to make it thick and nice. As good as what others say. I surely dont mind to come back again to dine another round.

[Update: 1/5/2016 – now have move to SS2)

Damansara Uptown is famous for a eatery place whereby we can hunt a few nice place to eat with a great mix. One of the latest addition outlet to the area is this Private Kitchen that I have been told that they started off with small little privite dining and its popularity had grown then they have to operate into a shop. Hence Private Kitchen was the name and now is available in bigger space  with both ground floor and first floor (more for private functions or family gathering).

Private Kitchen (1)

I have travel to Hong Kong a few times and yet find something similar here. Hong Kong food is definately must not miss. Well this new discovery,Private Kitchen is no ordinary shop like those restaurant in shopping mall as they are offering more authentic home cook Hong Kong Cuisine. The man behind the master creation is Chef Lam with experience of more than 20 years on him. Being in Malaysia for less than 18 months, he had creatively come out with many unique dish to impress.

Private Kitchen (2)

A cosy dining area with wooden chairs with many pictures that resemble on Hong Kong that certainly makes you think you are in Hong Kong Restaurant.

Private Kitchen (3)

Private Kitchen (4)

Private Kitchen (5)

Chicken wings are well deep fried to golden brown, crisps on all edges, with mild spicy and salty at the end. A great way to start off our dinner.

Private Kitchen (6)

Follow by this delicious Smoke Duck with Mango. Juicy and chewy slice of smoke duck which is aromatic and blend well with light sour sweet mango, perfect! – recommended

Private Kitchen (7)

I love my meal to start off with soup, and this double boil soup.

Private Kitchen (8)

Is just a great way to make our stomach warm. Boil along with pumpkin, pork and some other ingredient makes the soup sweet enough just as I like or its just me that love soup, any kind of soup is tasty to me. 🙂

Private Kitchen (9)

As we all had the introduction of the meal, then we head to the next meal section which is their set lunch menu that I am totally jealous with most of the office worker working around the area. Set lunch start off with as low as RM 7.90 and below are some of the items can be found.

Hong Kong style steamed chicken in sand ginger powder noodle soup @ RM 9.50

Private Kitchen (11)

Finely chop ginger slices is one of the extra condiments that you must not miss out to pair with the chicken. I finish it and asked for another additional. Not too spicy ginger taste which had tone down and suits many people I think. Well, if you are not a ginger person its worth for you to give it a try.

Private Kitchen (12)

This is no ordinary steam white chicken. Been perfectly marinated and bath with ginger serve along with hot soup noodle is one of the way to satisfy your lunch. Soft tender chicken meat, with slightly fragrant sauce that blends well with the noodle soup. If I drink the sauce it will be too salty as it is not meant to drink that way. I pour the gravy into the soup it made it extra flavorful.

Private Kitchen (10)

noodle in the soup to pair with the chicken

Private Kitchen (13)

Noodles with mince meat & fried egg in tomato soup @ RM 7.50

Private Kitchen (14)

This is no ordinary instant noodle. Well, I often got scolded for ordering instant noodle at restaurant because of the pricing and its easy to cook. Sometimes I just crave for it and cant help it. This here is a must try. It look pretty ordinary or simple yet the hidden ingredient why I love it so much is they cook their own soup base with tomato and pork that makes it sweet enough (something like ‘Loh Shun Tong’) filled with mince meat and a simple sunny side up. Love the soup as its slightly sour tomato base and we just finish it within seconds as the instant noodle cook to springy. – highly recommended

Private Kitchen (16)

If you love to have some pork, then you can opt for this Typhoon shelter noodles with Pork Chop in Chili and Garlic Soup @ RM 15

Private Kitchen (15)

Comes with deep fried pork as the side dish and noodle, perfect for raining weather at this moment.

Private Kitchen (18)

Stir Fried Pork Ribs with Rice @ RM 12.90

Sweet and soup pork ribs might looks ordinary, but this is a well balance taste, mild sweet and more pineapple sour taste as they cook along where you can buy chunks of pinapple. Deep fried pork are in cubes and soft that pairs well with the rice.

Private Kitchen (20)

Fried Rice Portuguese Style with braised pork belly & Seafood @ RM 16 is filled with wok hei and too bad that they don have sambal or chili oil to pair with. If not it would make it more outstanding.

Private Kitchen (21)

Private Kitchen Stir Fried Prime Beef Fillet with Strawberry Pepper Sauce @ RM28

Now lets head to more of its ala-carte menu. Begins with this is pretty unique dish with me, as strawberry is being used to cook along in this dish.Cook till the gravy is well coated onto the beef, tender soft and juicy with mild pepper spicy after taste makes it a great dish for me.

Private Kitchen (22)

Something creamy and palatable then go for this one of my favorite for the night, Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Special Salad Sauce @ RM32. Me and Ken just enjoying this dish by just munching it half a plate with it well coated salad sauce, sweet and slightly creamy that make it appetizing.

Private Kitchen (23)

Creating your taste bud dancing, Stir Fried Squids with vermicelli   in Special Chili Sauce is next to hunt for. YOu have to eat it pretty fast and if not, the vermicelli will soak the soup pretty instantly. Soup taste of it is pretty amazing lime, sour spicy and squid is just fresh, chewy bouncy as I like. RM 28

Private Kitchen (24)

oh oh, this dish is pretty Hong Kong style as Portuguese Style Baked Chicken Chop @ RM 18. Slightly can taste on powdery ginger curry taste which definitely relates back to HOng Kong dish as the chef hvae slightly change the ingredient as he mention the ingredient here is pretty good and the base of it is potato is amazing. -Recommended when you have your rice.

Some of you might find the curry slightly powdery but that is what Hong Kong curry taste like. 😉

Private Kitchen (25)

I know I am being called taufulou, yet this is another amazing by the chef. Crispy fried Tofu with Salt & Pepper @ RM 16

Private Kitchen (26)

The chef have made the toufu so delicately soft that nearly melts on your tongue  with crispy base outside with light after taste of pepper and the bite of it taste as soft as taufufa. Is the chef special mixture to make it outstanding. If you have beer on your side, this would be the best option!

Private Kitchen (27)

another dish that was gone within seconds as the aroma of the spicy garlic trail on our nose that make it so tempting. Private Kitchen Typhoon Shelter Prawns with Chili & Garlic @ seasonal price. Huge succulent prawn being deep fried along with chili and garlic make this dish simple and nice.

Private Kitchen (28)

Any vegetable with pork, I am up for it. Private Kitchen Sautéed Chinese Chives with Dried Shrimp and Shredded Dried Cuttlefish @ RM18 is a well balance vegetable that comes with me, and the best part is the small little salted fish is crispy and the saltiness that bite after it with the vegie and pork.. ooo so hard to resit!

Private Kitchen (29)

End with this healthy herbal jelly. Not many people will like it but its something unique to end off with. I am okay with it and I believe my parents would love it.

I must say, this is one of the most impressive Hong Kong Restaurant that I have come accross and you do not know where to dine, this is one of a highly recommended restaurant in my list for Hong Kong Cuisine.
