Being a Hailanese myself, I actually have not really tried how this traditional cuisine taste like except the very famous and located most of the coffee shop the Hainanese Chicken Rice not until Lingzie and CK introduce us this Restaurant Hailanese Delights  newly open restaurant at Hotel 1926 which is located at the very famous Green House Coffee shop.

Hailanese Food Delight

But this newly open restaurant does not only offer authentic Hainanese food but also a cross over with western also which turns out that there are a few of their signature item.

Hailanese Food Delight (3)

Lets kick start off with the very authentic first dish which is ‘Hainanes Mushroom Soup’. As I heard the name I was like ‘WHAT’? puzzle in my head that is this consider authentic dish? It’s a clear soup style (which I thought the creamy soup or Campbell soup) as in the soup base is cook with chicken gizzard, mushroom, and some veggie ended up with ‘Tang Hoon’.

The soup base turns out wonderfully flavorful as I have not taste before, a bit of the gizzard taste yet chopped mushroom did not over power the soup. RM 12 for small and can serve for 4 person.

Hailanese Food Delight (4)

‘Braised Lamb with Lady’s Finger’ carefully cooks and stew of the New Zealand lamb that cooks till very juicy and tender. The gravy is just as good if you eat it with rice. RM18 If you are a lamb lover, this is a dish you must try.

Hailanese Food Delight (5)

‘Inche Kabin (Deep Fried Marinated Chicken)’ is deep fried till crispy on the skin and soft on the inside. RM15

Hailanese Food Delight (6)

‘Choon Piah (Hainanese Spring Roll)’ as I get to know that its different from Popiah. As I know the way the prepare, skin and ingredient used is different yet when it was deep fried out, the outer layer crispiness is different too but when diff with their very own homemade sauce its totally thumbs up.

Hailanese Food Delight (7)

RM 6 per roll

Hailanese Food Delight (8)

‘Chicken Curry Kapitan’ is a bit different from all the curry I have eaten before. The spices taste is different not really spicy yet its fragrant and is cook till dry. RM12

Hailanese Food Delight (2)

Another dish which is different And abit of western style which is ‘Macaroni Pie’ . I did not know this is also consider one of the Hainanese food but to me is more like a bit modern dish. Perfectly baked till the crust is a bit soft and crispy on the top yet when the fork is poke down to the bottom the aroma just flew out and make us very hungry. The macaroni is soft, cook till flavorful with chicken, button mushroom and carrot. RM 25

Hailanese Food Delight (9)

Hailanese Food Delight (10)

Next is the ‘Chicken Pie’ RM 25 as its about the same with pie but I prefer this more. We ended up having 2.

Hailanese Food Delight (11)

This is the dish that is very famous among the local crowd or among all Hainanese people which is the very traditional ‘Hainanese Chicken Rice’. The chicken is steam and cooks till the meat is juicy and soft then mixed with their very own style of soy sauce make it very flavorful. If you dip with their homemade ginger and chili sauce taste better. RM10

Hailanese Food Delight (12)

‘Fried Koay Teow’ I just had taste better ones before.

Hailanese Food Delight (13)

If you are a coffee lover, their ‘Black Coffee’ taste good too, brew aromatically.

It’s a great exposure to Hainanese authentic food. If you would want to taste something different you can look for this restaurant.

My last trip back to Penang, I was requested to think of a Halal place that my malay friends can enjoy their dinner and Jemput Tree came into my thought. With their price and food quality on my past experience did thought that it’s a nice place to dine in.

‘Singapore Fried Bee Hoon’ not only pale in taste which is more like when you are sick it almost tasteless. One of the worst Singapore fried bee hoon that I came across.

‘Tom Yam Fried Rice’ that I have eaten better before and the sour taste is too strong that had overpower any of the taste available. Its more like taking sour fried rice.

‘Tomyam Bee Hoon Soup’ it taste something similar like the tom yam fried rice. Quite disappointing.

The food quality on that night was rather disastrous on that night and even some of them didn’t even finish their food. Compare to the first time that I went, their difference is big. Maybe they are using different chef on that day. If their quality remains like that, surely this is the shop I wont be paying a visit for quite some time.

For those who always wonders around late night, drunkyards, after club session or late night Karaoke this Kopitiam is usually flock with alot of people after 1.30am especially on weekends or public holiday(those those other state 1..)

I seldom will miss out this shop or even though miss, I will ta pauz go back makan.

‘Curry Mee’ is my hightime favourite in this shop even thought Hokkien Mee is the signature but still I never miss out Curry Mee. Filled with ‘Huek’ my fav and the soup is clear but I prefer it in……..

fiery red. Damm satisfying although its spicy. my highly Recommended! RM2.80

Followed by the kopitiam signature which is the ‘Hokkien Mee aka also prawn mee’ which you can add addtional side dish like extra prawns, pig spare part, egg, fish ball, this and that. I never really like this stall cause its over rated and also alot of outstation people spoil the pricing for this stall. Used to be very cheap but now, rangers from RM3-RM10 with the added on side order. The soup, many other stalls taste even better than this 1.

This my all time favourite ‘Porridge’ always add on with Salty duck egg. Wah lau…I am writting this and my stomach is drumming. Cannot tahan. Taste yourself to feel the kick’ness of it. Can side order the ‘Pak Cham Kai’ very smooth and nice. Price from RM3-RM15

AT LAST I manage to find back this western food stall which were located beside Green House Kopitiam, which my friend introduce to me famous for its Corden Bleu…Then let my friend kutuk me saying I outdate, they have been here for quite some time d.

Their kitchen looks more like a good western food stall already.

This is their menu with limited choice to choose from and those in red are consider their signature. They have slightly increase in price which I think is reasonable as the last time I dine was bout 6 years ago. Lol

Again I ordered ‘Mushroom Soup’. Which the price thought of just try la… Very nice and creamy, quite alot of mushroom slice in there as every scoop you took up there will be mushroom in there. RM4 only.

The next order was ‘Ribeye Steak’ medium rare. I got shock when the portion was serve. I am like ‘wowwww, so big piece punya lembu’.. I cant take beef so no comment on this as I get to know this is one of the nicest also mention by my friend as not many hawker area western food can cook something out like this. RM19.50 for this fat ribeye.

This is of course my favourite back in those donkey days. So I ordered back the same thing. ‘Chicken Corden Bleu’. When got served I was quite happy with the condition, as expected dry and golden brown. Once I use my knife cut it open, the cheeze in there start flowing out, you know like those water overflow, someting like that. It is stuff with ham and cheeze. With the first mouth into this mouth watering bleu, it just taste as nice as back in those days. Still have not dissapoint me after last ate it. Still have the cheeze taste yet you can still taste the ham and chicken with the strong aroma after being stuff in there and fried. Cost RM9 which I think is reasonable. The last time I ate was RM6.50 6 years back.

In my life, I really believe that some people have luck in doing a business. Like this Ah Guan Apong Stall. It is located in front of Union Primary school nearby Green House Kopitiam. This apong stall, have huge order every day . Every time that I am buying, at least there will be 60-100 pieces of apong to be made before me. To make it like 20-30 mins wait.

Ah Guan APong

This is the lucky uncle and the wife I believe operating the stall.
This is how the apong is being made. Pouring the mixture onto the hot plate and let it baked for 3-5 mins.
When about to be cooked, only put on the following banana and corn into it and wait for further 1-2 mins.
Tadaaa…this is the apong that been made out. Honestly, this apong does not taste nice, cant really taste the banana or corn taste or with the base taste also very minimal. But I must say that luck is always with him as all the customer ordered is massive. Got even more order during public or school holidays. It is only RM0.30 per piece.
