Sometimes we do crave for food and defiantely Ramen falls into one of the cravings and I am sure when this Hakata Ippudo open its door in Pavilion on 20th February 2013, there is a huge hype of it. Not only that, for this round they have come up something unique for us. I have often heard wine pairing and when I received an invite for Ramen & Cocktail pairing, this is surely something new!

ippudo (2)

With this new style, IPPUDO hopes that the introduction of this new range of cocktails to its KL store will enhance the overall ramen dining experience for Malaysian diners and help them to discover this great alternative to the typical green tea or soft drink accompaniments.

ippudo (3)

Calpis Hai – A ‘spike’ up yoghurt drink. One of my favourite drink to be mix with alcohol, is definately good. Sweet light milky texture with the sweetness of the shochu and light alcohol end. Just perfect.

ippudo (5)

Hakata Momo – Bold & balanced with a hint of peach after taste

ippudo (4)
From top left -> Clock wise

Hinode- Fruity & flavourful crafted with an after taste of citrus
Umeshu Limonatta – Classic Japanese plum wine blended with a zest from sparkling lemon juice
Hakata Momo – Bold & balanced with a hint of peach after taste
Sawayaka – Perfect blend of light refreshing freshly squeezed lime and the sweetness of rum with a slight fragrance of coconut

ippudo (6)

Oolong Hai – Humbling earthy oolong tea with a touch of shochu

ippudo (7)

Among the startes we try, I love this the best, Buta Karaage – Deep Fried Pork – Loin with special sauce. Deep fried to perfection that inside is not dry yet juicy and the sauce os perfect. Pair well with Umeshu Aranciatta with mild sourish end.

ippudo (8)

Curry Cheeze Haru Maki – Deep Fried Curry Spring Rolls.
Best paired with: Umeshu Limonatta

ippudo (9)

Serve in raw with special sauce added on the side. Ishiyaki Chicken – Grilled Chicken with leek in hot stone bowl
Grilled chicken with leek in hot stone bowl served with wasabi dressing and lemon citrus. Stir well in this hot stone and then you can pair it with Hinode or Oolong Hai.

ippudo (10)

Salmon Katsu – Deep fried Salmon with Cheeze
Best paired with: Sawayaka or Hakata Momo

ippudo (11)

Salmon Misoyaki – Marinated Salmon with Japanese Miso
Best paired with: Calpis Hai

Before we are heading to eat our main dish which is Ramen, in between we were given a task. We are to create our own cocktail and winner for the night will walk away with great prize. We are given with 3 types of alcohol, mixer and some ingredients to finish it off.

ippudo (14)

Then I come out with don know what I have mix and the girls are being creative, we name our drink 3 Girls & a Guy.

ippudo (15)

We have 5 other contestant in the list and the rest all looks good.

ippudo (16)

Judges in action with the chef of the outlet start tasting on the creation.

ippudo (17)

Before we dine our Ramen, we are being serve with some fresh garlic and if you need it just add on. I find that it really add on the taste to the soup to be more fragrant.

ippudo (18)

Shiromaru Motoaji
Original recipe Tonkotsu broth served with Hakata-style ultra-thin noodles and topped with belly chashu, bean sprouts, kikurage and spring onions, cooked expertly to produce a smooth yet classic Hakata ramen.
We personally love this best as the broth made me tasted its originality. Clear yet flavoursome, we could finish the whole bowl of soup!
Best paired with: Umeshu Limonatta

ippudo (19)

Akamaru Shinaji
The 25-year old recipe requires slow cooking over long hours to achieve a perfect emulsion of oil and liquid, creating a rich and flavorful Tonkotsu that enhances the essence of pork-bone topped with Ippudo secret miso, garlic oil, belly chashu, kikurage, bean sprouts and spring onions. This version of broth carries a more pungent taste that stimulated our tastebuds even more.
Best paired with: Calpis Hai

ippudo (20)

ippudo (21)

Spicy Karaka-men
The Karaka Men features Ippudo signature Tonkotsu broth and Hakata-style wavy noodles, topped with ground pork and our spicy Karaka miso for the spice that you crave!
Best paired with: Hinode

Its another great night for all of us to hang out again and thanks to Ippudo Malaysia for showering me this new experience. If you are hunting for their cocktail, my favourites are Hinode & Calpis high. Easy to drink and to pair with the food. Price range from RM 15 – RM 22 per glass as I find it pretty reasonable. .

Right after our dinner, few doors away is this yogurt stall is super pack with humans, as when I first arrive it had already attracted my attention to join along the crowd to try out what is so special about this Moochi Frozen Yoghurt  place. My friend had never understand what is the whole buzz about whenever he come and dine at his favorite Korean BBQ food at Bassim.

Moochi (1)

As a tourist, of course I would keen to try on any food. During winter time its quite a good crowd despite yogurt is cold and many people are still keen to get brain freeze. I jump onto the queue and my friend scolded me, because of you I only try out. Normally I wouldn’t care much, as anything that I have to queue, they wont enjoy my business.

Moochi (2)

Moochi (3)

Moochi (4)

I wonder how did this brand came about. . .

Moochi (5)

They even have their own drinks.

Moochi (6)

A simple menu that the have and their price is very reasonable.

Moochi (8)

Moochi comes in different sizes and if you are a big eater then MASSIVE  would be your choice. They have 4 flavours to choose from. Original, Green Tea, Pomegranate and Watermelon

Moochi (7)

Right after the order you can choose your toppings. Ranging to about 21 toppings selection.

Moochi (10)

Then pick up a bottle of Pomegranate peach passion white tea @ AUD 4.50. Slightly sourish, and strong hint of passion fruit taste and we find it slightly sweet to our liking. Its good though if they can tone down the sweetness 20% then would have been perfect.

Moochi (11)

Jeng Jeng Jeng, I choose a small cup to go after as we are super stuff right after super heavy dinner. Chose Original with 3 toppings, @ AUD 5.40 with mango, lychee follow by unique flavor that for the first time I have come accross is Watermelon with another 2 topings, oreo and honeydew (if i am not mistaken). Watermelon is a better selection.

Texture of the yogurt is smooth, aromatic and slightly more creamy that I like it. After putting into your mouth, it melts slight faster and upon so many brands that is in Malaysia, this brand definitely stood up.

First time dropping by here for their chinese restaurant that Toh Yuen Chinese Restaurant have a new menu to be pushing out with master creator of menu, Master Chef Lee that only uses fresh ingredients for his menu. Looking at the menu itself for the night, most of the dishes being serve are more toward China cuisine and some combination, it got me curious as it had been a while since I miss China cuisine.

Toh Yuen (1)

Asked the chef how he got his inspiration that he loves to travel to china for a period of time, learn the ingredients that they used, then cook back here.

Toh Yuen (2)

Toh Yuen (3)

Toh Yuen (5)

Chilled Pacific Clam with Salsa

Toh Yuen (7)

It looks plain from first glance, and guess what? I finish this whole portion myself, as I love the soury taste and its serve chill. Clam is fresh and chewy.

Toh Yuen (4)

Pan Fried Lamb Rack with Mongolian SauceRM28. Look ordinary, that is nothing special, once you start eating it, flavor burst onto your mouth, soft chewy texture well fried till the sauce coated well on the meat and flavorful. – Recommended!

Toh Yuen (6)

This is new to me with Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Garlic and Chicken Floss @ RM22. Something simple for you to start off with that can eat it just like that and will definately pair well with beer.

Toh Yuen (8)

I never say no to soup, especially anything with double boil along with herbal is a must for me! Double Boiled Village Chicken with “Chong Cao Hua” (Cordyceps) Soup, ingredients that added in have curing effect that the herb helps prevent aging and stimulates the immune systems.

Toh Yuen (9)

Double Boiled Wild Chicken with ”Shi Hu” Soup

Comparing both soup, I like both of them and depends on what you need for the day as it helps on immune system by the end of the day. 🙂 Love both of them and if I can get 2 big pot of it, sure loving it~

Sautéed Venison Slices with Chinese Croissants and Cumin

Braised Sea Cucumber with Flower Mushroom & Abalone Sauce @ RM 80

Toh Yuen (12)

Steamed Canadian Black Cod Fish with “Yu Feng” Ginger SauceRM32 per 100gm topped with “Yu Feng” Ginger Sauce. Ginger sauce is just mild and nice that would perfectly pair well with rice. Finely cut ginger slice then fried along and top as dressing. Like how the taste of it and cod fish is very fresh.

Toh Yuen (13)

Sautéed Fresh Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk @ RM 50 would be a perfect dish for lazy people like me that do not like to peel its shelf out. Its all been peel out and fried to perfection in the wok with salted egg yolk coated well with its thick texture.

Toh Yuen (14)

Deep Fried Smoked Duck with Fruit Sauce is something new and one of a recommended dish!  @ RM 38 . Preparation process was smoke along with tea leaves and one of the reason dragon fruit was used is to balance up the taste to avoid it to be oily.

Toh Yuen (15)

Sautéed Venison Slice with Chinese Croissants & Cumin @ RM 50

Toh Yuen (16)

Deep Fried Banana with Strawberry & Cheese CakeRM20 Something new to me, never really like it as I still prefer my classic cheeze cake.

Early Sunday morning and do not know where to head for breakfast. After take a drive around for 15 minutes then my friend come accross this place and saw, eh eh, try this stall, it was one of the stall that I used to eat during college times which is pretty famous. Then I agree since I have never tried this. Bridge Head Hokkien Mee & Loh Mee

loh Mee (1)

After Google up a few article only came across to know that this Hokkien Mee stall is actually quite authentic in taste as the recipe had pass down from previous generation. The family had started selling since 1963 by the Lau family and currently, its 2nd generation that  selling at the moment..

loh Mee (2)

The stall is located at a very obvious junction if you are taking the Jelutong Expressway exit towards Prangin Mall, its a pre-war building right at the corner of the traffic light that you can see people actually sitting there and eat.

loh Mee (3)

loh Mee (4)

It had been a while since I had my last bowl of Loh Mee, and to say that Penang Loh Mee and KL Loh Mee is pretty different as Penang version is black starchy gooey soup base they have. To make the taste even better you have to add in special garlic sauce that every loh mee stall created for themselves and this stall had make it quite strong in taste as you just add abit and some of the chili would be perfect.

loh Mee (5)

loh Mee (6)

Next we order another bowl of Hokkien Mee to share and I add in Pork Ribs. Soup base is rich in flavour as you can taste it with pork bone and prawn heads they have cook for quite a while. A pretty decent bowl of breakfast to go after.

I still say, I prefer other stalls.  No harm to try this out .. 😉

Deserts Lovers, which brand do you prefer since we have Taiwan fever deserts booming in our country at the moment, from drinks (bubble tea) to ice desert series with the brand like Chatime, Gong Cha, Snowflakes and now UFO which in the same area had another brand of Taiwanese desert that I did not even bother to write on.

[ No longer in Operation ]

UFO (1)I

I have heard good feedback from my friend regarding on UFO another Taiwanese Deserts as they rate this second best after Snowflakes (click here). YES. . . UFO is not actually the alien UFO is just a taiwanese desert shop with the catchy name. Since its nearby my work area, I gather my colleague to have dinner then come by for deserts after that.

UFO (2)

UFO Taiwanese desert is located in the heart of SS2 with its super big billboard that is hard to miss, which is the same row of Police Station.

UFO (3)

Of course we are here to try on their ice series .. .

UFO (4)

I guess this is how the name par on it, with UFO calling number. It will vibrate when your order is ready.

UFO (5)

always wanted to start order with Soya series but it was out of stock so go for their classic range, Grass Jelly series. . . .

UFO (6)

Grass Jelly with 3 toppings (mini taro balls, red bean, pearl)

UFO (7)

UFO (8)

Ai Yu Jelly with glutinous balls

UFO (9)

Matcha Special @ RM 6

Overall in this outlet, Grass Jelly certainly have its taste which is pretty strong and did not dissapoint us at all and the best series I would recommend is their Matcha or Green Tea Ice Series that have strong taste of green tea and pair very well with other ingredient and all of us agree that its one of the best to look for in this shop.

Price starting from RM4.50 (1topping) to RM6.00 (3toppings)

If you wanted to order their bubble tea, just save your money and order the ice series. Pretty disappointing.
