Over the weekend, I was attending a Photography workshop at Bankers Club, and of course there are breaks in between. Then hit down to dinner and walk pass thru Sungai Wang to head to Lot 10 Hutong, I came across this Polo Bun Shop by the name Polo Zai Bakery Cafe. I love polo bun alot and looking at the texture of the bread surely looks tempting and decided to buy 1 after dinner to test the quality.

Guess what? After buy 1 on the first night, we ended up ta pau and buy for the next 2 days of the workshop, including last night. 😀

polozai (1)

Some fact of Polo bun or 菠萝包 is the Hong Kong style of bun and very popular in Hong Kong. The word 菠萝 is also a Hong Kong word meaning ‘pineapple’ where the skin of the bun looks like a pineapple.

Now at Polozai Bakery Cafe, they have mastered and specialized in baking these Polo bun with 16 choices of creative and delicious flavors to choose from. I believe they are freshly baked daily to get the freshness and quality of it. You will be tempted by the smell of it although its not so strong as compare to Roti Boy.

polozai (2)

I have tried  a few flavours over the past few days. One of the original which is Polo Butter is always the classic. With the cripsy crumbs on the top and butter spread at the base/ bottom @ RM 2.80.

polozai (3)

Next I try their Custard Polo Bun, crust is the same as the filling is custard. Find that the filling of custard is not well spread out as I bite half of the bun still there is no sign of the custard and only realize is only 1/4 of the bun, which is one of the corner.

polozai (4)

To be adventourous, we bought alot a few flavours such as Durians. Durian turns out to be pretty good and generous with the ingredient, with the durian flesh sticking out like that, can see that they are using fresh durian to insert as the filling.

Another 2 we tapau is Cheeze and Polo Ham Sausage.

The range of their bun are from RM2.80 – RM 5 depends on which selection you are aftering. For first timer, I would definately recommend their classic signature which is the Polo Bun, follow by Custard or durian.

Overall, the crust of the top is not bad, not too sweet and bun is pretty soft. Can say that one of the best Polo Bun that I came across, in overall taste and if they are serve pippin hot or warm, it would surely be one of the top seller in Sungwai Wang.

[Update: 1/5/2016 – now have move to SS2)

Damansara Uptown is famous for a eatery place whereby we can hunt a few nice place to eat with a great mix. One of the latest addition outlet to the area is this Private Kitchen that I have been told that they started off with small little privite dining and its popularity had grown then they have to operate into a shop. Hence Private Kitchen was the name and now is available in bigger space  with both ground floor and first floor (more for private functions or family gathering).

Private Kitchen (1)

I have travel to Hong Kong a few times and yet find something similar here. Hong Kong food is definately must not miss. Well this new discovery,Private Kitchen is no ordinary shop like those restaurant in shopping mall as they are offering more authentic home cook Hong Kong Cuisine. The man behind the master creation is Chef Lam with experience of more than 20 years on him. Being in Malaysia for less than 18 months, he had creatively come out with many unique dish to impress.

Private Kitchen (2)

A cosy dining area with wooden chairs with many pictures that resemble on Hong Kong that certainly makes you think you are in Hong Kong Restaurant.

Private Kitchen (3)

Private Kitchen (4)

Private Kitchen (5)

Chicken wings are well deep fried to golden brown, crisps on all edges, with mild spicy and salty at the end. A great way to start off our dinner.

Private Kitchen (6)

Follow by this delicious Smoke Duck with Mango. Juicy and chewy slice of smoke duck which is aromatic and blend well with light sour sweet mango, perfect! – recommended

Private Kitchen (7)

I love my meal to start off with soup, and this double boil soup.

Private Kitchen (8)

Is just a great way to make our stomach warm. Boil along with pumpkin, pork and some other ingredient makes the soup sweet enough just as I like or its just me that love soup, any kind of soup is tasty to me. 🙂

Private Kitchen (9)

As we all had the introduction of the meal, then we head to the next meal section which is their set lunch menu that I am totally jealous with most of the office worker working around the area. Set lunch start off with as low as RM 7.90 and below are some of the items can be found.

Hong Kong style steamed chicken in sand ginger powder noodle soup @ RM 9.50

Private Kitchen (11)

Finely chop ginger slices is one of the extra condiments that you must not miss out to pair with the chicken. I finish it and asked for another additional. Not too spicy ginger taste which had tone down and suits many people I think. Well, if you are not a ginger person its worth for you to give it a try.

Private Kitchen (12)

This is no ordinary steam white chicken. Been perfectly marinated and bath with ginger serve along with hot soup noodle is one of the way to satisfy your lunch. Soft tender chicken meat, with slightly fragrant sauce that blends well with the noodle soup. If I drink the sauce it will be too salty as it is not meant to drink that way. I pour the gravy into the soup it made it extra flavorful.

Private Kitchen (10)

noodle in the soup to pair with the chicken

Private Kitchen (13)

Noodles with mince meat & fried egg in tomato soup @ RM 7.50

Private Kitchen (14)

This is no ordinary instant noodle. Well, I often got scolded for ordering instant noodle at restaurant because of the pricing and its easy to cook. Sometimes I just crave for it and cant help it. This here is a must try. It look pretty ordinary or simple yet the hidden ingredient why I love it so much is they cook their own soup base with tomato and pork that makes it sweet enough (something like ‘Loh Shun Tong’) filled with mince meat and a simple sunny side up. Love the soup as its slightly sour tomato base and we just finish it within seconds as the instant noodle cook to springy. – highly recommended

Private Kitchen (16)

If you love to have some pork, then you can opt for this Typhoon shelter noodles with Pork Chop in Chili and Garlic Soup @ RM 15

Private Kitchen (15)

Comes with deep fried pork as the side dish and noodle, perfect for raining weather at this moment.

Private Kitchen (18)

Stir Fried Pork Ribs with Rice @ RM 12.90

Sweet and soup pork ribs might looks ordinary, but this is a well balance taste, mild sweet and more pineapple sour taste as they cook along where you can buy chunks of pinapple. Deep fried pork are in cubes and soft that pairs well with the rice.

Private Kitchen (20)

Fried Rice Portuguese Style with braised pork belly & Seafood @ RM 16 is filled with wok hei and too bad that they don have sambal or chili oil to pair with. If not it would make it more outstanding.

Private Kitchen (21)

Private Kitchen Stir Fried Prime Beef Fillet with Strawberry Pepper Sauce @ RM28

Now lets head to more of its ala-carte menu. Begins with this is pretty unique dish with me, as strawberry is being used to cook along in this dish.Cook till the gravy is well coated onto the beef, tender soft and juicy with mild pepper spicy after taste makes it a great dish for me.

Private Kitchen (22)

Something creamy and palatable then go for this one of my favorite for the night, Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Special Salad Sauce @ RM32. Me and Ken just enjoying this dish by just munching it half a plate with it well coated salad sauce, sweet and slightly creamy that make it appetizing.

Private Kitchen (23)

Creating your taste bud dancing, Stir Fried Squids with vermicelli   in Special Chili Sauce is next to hunt for. YOu have to eat it pretty fast and if not, the vermicelli will soak the soup pretty instantly. Soup taste of it is pretty amazing lime, sour spicy and squid is just fresh, chewy bouncy as I like. RM 28

Private Kitchen (24)

oh oh, this dish is pretty Hong Kong style as Portuguese Style Baked Chicken Chop @ RM 18. Slightly can taste on powdery ginger curry taste which definitely relates back to HOng Kong dish as the chef hvae slightly change the ingredient as he mention the ingredient here is pretty good and the base of it is potato is amazing. -Recommended when you have your rice.

Some of you might find the curry slightly powdery but that is what Hong Kong curry taste like. 😉

Private Kitchen (25)

I know I am being called taufulou, yet this is another amazing by the chef. Crispy fried Tofu with Salt & Pepper @ RM 16

Private Kitchen (26)

The chef have made the toufu so delicately soft that nearly melts on your tongue  with crispy base outside with light after taste of pepper and the bite of it taste as soft as taufufa. Is the chef special mixture to make it outstanding. If you have beer on your side, this would be the best option!

Private Kitchen (27)

another dish that was gone within seconds as the aroma of the spicy garlic trail on our nose that make it so tempting. Private Kitchen Typhoon Shelter Prawns with Chili & Garlic @ seasonal price. Huge succulent prawn being deep fried along with chili and garlic make this dish simple and nice.

Private Kitchen (28)

Any vegetable with pork, I am up for it. Private Kitchen Sautéed Chinese Chives with Dried Shrimp and Shredded Dried Cuttlefish @ RM18 is a well balance vegetable that comes with me, and the best part is the small little salted fish is crispy and the saltiness that bite after it with the vegie and pork.. ooo so hard to resit!

Private Kitchen (29)

End with this healthy herbal jelly. Not many people will like it but its something unique to end off with. I am okay with it and I believe my parents would love it.

I must say, this is one of the most impressive Hong Kong Restaurant that I have come accross and you do not know where to dine, this is one of a highly recommended restaurant in my list for Hong Kong Cuisine.

Dumpling Festival is another big occasion that celebrated across chinese culture or also know with Dragon Boat Festival. This festival with a story behind it, (click here source wikipedia). For this special occasion, West Lake Garden Chinese Restaurant which is led by Master Chef Chan Choo Kean and his team comes up with  a few unique dumpling.

Sunway (1)

Superior Giant Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Assorted Meat and Chef’s Special Savoury Sauce @ RM118++, by the meaning Giant is really giant to me as this 3kg rectangular rice dumpling can fed up to 8-10 people filled with lots of ingredients, dried scallop, dried oyster, barbecued chicken, lotus seed, chestnut, salted egg yolk, mushroom, dried shrimp and yellow pea. Due to its size, it was steam instead of boiled in the water, the taste come out to be nice, soft texture with all ingredient evenly cooked comes to my liking.

Sunway (2)

Hong Kong Style Steamed Glutinous Rice Dumpling @ RM28++ filled with dried scallop, barbecued chicken, salted egg yolk, black mushroom, chestnut, dried shrimp and yellow pea. Quite mild in taste compare to the others, still the aroma is there.

Sunway (3)

Star of the night as this is my very first time I come accross with this flavour is Steamed Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Yam and Lamb @ RM 23++ with yam, dried shrimp, mushroom, chestnut and seasoned lam meat. The meat was soft and the aroma of lamb had soak into rice dumlpling that make it very nice in taste.

Sunway (4)

Never knew that Steamed Vegetarian Glutinous Rice Dumpling can turn out to be good in taste as this is my first time trying vegetarian dumpling too.  RM 18++

Sunway (5)

Is stuff with ingredients enoki mushroom, abalone mushroom and black mushrooms

Sunway (6)

Steamed Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Sweet Red Bean is consider more like a desert rice dumpling. Dipping it with some honey sauce that makes it extra kick with red bean melt in mouth n sticky soft rice to chew on. RM12++

Sunway (7)

As for comes to real desert, this is one of the desert you must not miss Mango Puree and Vanilla Ice Cream And Tempura Durian Puff @ RM12

Sunway (8)

The Durian puff’s were so crispy on the outer layer with one bite the crack sound was very obvious and the durian meat that they use is good stuff. Then followed by me taking on the bowl of mango puree with vanilla ice cream.

Sunway (9)

Something refreshing at thee very end of the meal Double Boiled Fresh Ginseng with Sea Coconut @RM12.

I did enjoy myself for this early dumpling session as I always love to eat dumpling, and with the festival around the corner you can place your order at the restaurant and wish every one Happy Dumpling Festival.

Open Daily 12pm-2:30pm (lunch), 6:30pm-10:30pm (dinner)

I remember when I came back from Hong Kong for holiday few years ago, and I was craving for Hong Kong desert after that, until I saw one of the outlet that started back in 1-Utama and from that moment the interior was very nice yet the desert was not impressive. Over the years, they have grown stronger and now, that they had a total of 6th outlet with the latest laid in the heart of Kuchai Lama.

My Honeymoon Desert is known for their using finest ingredient to make this Hong Kong Style Desert.

When I walked into the shop, I thought I walked to the wrong outlet as I didnt know they have redesign the whole concept and with this their latest outlet is one of their latest design to be more vibrant, cozy and more young and tredy which we really like the new look of it.

Trust me, you can just go empty stomach in this shop and flip through at this massive range of desert which I think offer more than 70 types of desert.

As I saw in the menu, the special tea section sure do caught my attention with its photo in it, then I ask the lady to recommend me what is special or what is her favourite then comes this ‘Only You Tea’ @ RM 4. When was served that time, we were very curious what is this bebola so special then the girl just smile and ask us wait patiently, few minutes later, the whole bebola like bloom with other flowery ingredient in it. . .Taste very refreshing, sweet and nice in aroma. . .

Pan Mee no longer is a stranger to most of us and even some of you guys loving it with the original taste especially with the hand kneaded it out from the flour as that would be the authentic style, that I like  Ah Tee or Jojo Pan Mee. As now, more people are eating healthily, and I got so surprise that when I heard about this shop, House of Ceggo Food Station that located inside Taman Desa it’s a must go for me to try it out, with their unique preparation of soup base and cooking style of Pan Mee.

Ceggo

This shop is not hard to be located which is directly inside the whole stretch of shoplot.

Ceggo (2)

To me, the first feeling is more like those Hong Kong style cafe as what we seen in TVB with those push door and glass panel with two big chinese wordings on the glass panel.

Ceggo (3)

‘Lemon Grass Drink’ as I never really like the taste of the lemon grass but suprisingly the taste is not that strong as it taste quite fragrant and I end up having two glass of it.

Ceggo (4)

As I mention with those Hand Peeled or Hand Kneaded is one of the authentic way to prepare this Pan Mee but as the picture shown in the menu for the types of Noodle available, its quite cute for its description.

Ceggo (5)

Ceggo (6)

‘Fried Sui Kau’ Deep fried with solid mince meat, mix with small chunks of water chestnut, and some finely chopped spinach is good, crispy on the skin and dip with chili sauce is always the best.

Ceggo (7)

We start off with ‘Aunthentic Pan Mee’ which you can order with Hand Peel which is hand peeled from a big chunk of flour or

Ceggo (8)

Flat Rolled noodle as shown in the pictures.

Ceggo (9)

Next that got served, which really caught my interest is the ‘Tomato Pan Mee’ with most of the ingredient added on are the same which is anchovies, mince chicken meat, fried Tau Kee and the most important is the tomato soup base. Rich in flavor that create a bit thick milky taste and the noodle is perfectly cook, I just love it as it had the similar taste like Spaghetti Bolognese but appear in soup version – Recommended

Ceggo (10)

‘Ma Lat (Extra Spicy) Pan Mee’ that we got deceived by the fiery red colour of it and thought that it would be extremely spicy, but it turns out to be a bit of sour and spicy level which is not that Spicy to me and the rest.

Ceggo (12)

Another star of the night is ‘Pumpkin Pan Mee’ that I have always love pumpkin soup but now it had add in noodle and its not that milky and thick in taste as the soup serve purely in the restaurant as this had some modification that makes it blend very well with the soup base and the noodle. – Recommended

Ceggo (13)

If you are yam lover then you would want to miss their ‘Yam Pan Mee’ that used huge piece of yam cook inside the soup then cut into pieces to serve along with noodle and you just imagine, the yam fragrance and the soup did taste a bit ashy from the long boiled yam in the stove. Good Soup base I would say.

Ceggo (14)

Opt for something healthy or you dont feel well on that day, ‘Spinach Pan Mee’ is the one you are going after with finely chopped spinach that blend with flour and it is more like 80% pure of veggie in it that serve along with authentic soup base.

Ceggo (15)

‘Curry Chicken Pan Mee’ after shooting and it was gone in seconds. Thick Curry Chicken that pour upon the dry noodle that mix with black sauce just mix it very well, chicken is soft and juicy.

Ceggo (16)

‘Loh Pan Mee’ cook in the form of thick soup base, that do not taste very salty and a bit like shark fin soup taste but if you eat it pure the taste would not be that good, the trick is add in vinegar, it will pull up the taste and we add in the available vinegar given to us and finish fast.

Ceggo (17)

On that night it was Lionel Birthday and Sunny had prepared a Passion Fruit came for him.

Ceggo (18)

Lionel the happy guy for the night~ and of course it was a great discovery for us that we found a new nice place to eat and certainly I am going back for more that I would be recommending this place, as it is very reasonable in price starting from RM5.50 – RM9 per bowl.

Till now I have seen many bloggers blog about Taiwan, how nice to travel there and not to miss especially their food, I have just came back from that country too. One thing that I have learn is that, the taste of Taiwanese food is quite mild compare to our Malaysia local taste but one of the restaurant that I find it quite similar to Taiwan taste is this restaurant New Farmosa Restaurant which is located at the back main road of SS2, which I would say opposite ESSO petrol station.

farmosa

farmosa (2)

A restaurant which is normally decorated with red table cloth and yellow light.

farmosa (3)

In the menu, you will be suprise and pampered by a wide selection of food available and I am impress.

farmosa (4)

Usually a new restaurant to me, what I would order is more on their signature dish or chef recommendation or the recommendation of that captain but what we have got on that day is all pre arrange. Just sit back and be prepared to be showered with lottttsssss of food.

farmosa (5)

One of their signature drink is which I lurrrveeeee it alot Sour Plum Juice, something which is very refreshing, sour level till my jaw is a bit lose yet not that sweet, just as I like it but some of them do not like it.  Homemade Herbal Tea is one on the front.

farmosa (6)
