Some is located within Kuala Lumpur itself and others are 2-4 hours drive away from this main City. You can located the list of theme parks in Malaysia thru here.

To those have limited times in Kuala Lumpur, many would end up here:

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is one of the most sort after theme park after Genting Highlands (which is currently under huge construction to make way for one of the most anticipated theme park for most of us Malaysians – 20th Century Fox World. Targeting to operate 2019).

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is located in Petaling Jaya, just about 15km southwest of the Kuala Lumpur city centre. Most family and friends would spend about a day here as ¾ of time in the theme park and to cool it off at the shopping mall – Sunway Pyramid which is just right beside this massive theme park.

A park that sits in this massive 80 acre land is divided into a few zones, water slides that whirl and twirl, a man made ‘river’ ride, a surf beach, a wave pool, a 360° revolving pirate ship and. the world’s largest manmade surf beach – the list goes on. However, with light upgrading and the new look, it has expanded and encompasses a total of five different zones – the water park, Scream Park, Amusement Park, Extreme Park and Wildlife Park.

Ipoh had recently become another new state to hunt for food. With many of their local food to hunt for, they are also keeping up with the trend that Klang Valley has. Hello Elvis serve softserve where is just a stone throw away from all those famous food joint, Lou Wong Chicken Rice.

HEllo Elvis (2)

Love their ambiance, which is simple and cozy yet have a few corners that filled with some drum set, cozy living room kind of set up at the back would give you many angles to take nice pictures. To me, if feels like modern Kedai Runcit display center.

I am impress with their menu as there are actually quite a good offerings in it.

HEllo Elvis (7)

HEllo Elvis (9)

Start off with one of their best seller item. Ice cream is soft enough, filled with little biscuit pretzel, nutz and drizzle with chocolate syrup.

HEllo Elvis (10)

HEllo Elvis (11)

I am totally in love with thier home made brownie that baked fresh daily. Love the little crack on the top which is crispy and those little chocolate chips that give you little cracking feeling in your mouth and the base cake is moist enough to give you little hint of bitterness yet not too sweet. French Vanilla soft serve just pairs well with it. A perfect combination and its a must order!

As to compare, I love their vanilla ice cream more where I can taste fresh vanilla flavour compare to their chocolate.

HEllo Elvis (13)

I am a fan of conney dog as its a little mixture is like a homemade version where the mince chicken meat is mince, topped with finely chopped fresh onions. The gravy taste like bolognese sauce. The best part is their chicken sausage.  Thick and juicy.

HEllo Elvis (14)

HEllo Elvis (15)

The outlet actually located at the main road and it is just 3 minutes walk from Lou Wong chicken Rice where it is totally worth your visit, where in Ipoh there are not many modern Ice cream

My favourite is their vanilla flavour and their brownie.

[Repost on this blog with minor amendments and add ons as old picture was all gone]
I was on my way driving back and oh hell, forgot to ask the number of my friend, where she just came back from Melbourne and was at Ipoh. Totally forgot about that. Then dropping by at this Ipoh town where every one been talking about the Ipoh Nga Choi Kai at Restaurant Onn Kee. Came here for the 3rd time but the other stall did not open so try up this stall. No Choice. Either this or that. So it is this.

ippoh (1)

onn kee (1)

Trying out at restaurant Ong Kee. It was around 6pm and the tables was nearly fully occupied. This shows how good the business are but of course cannot compare with Murni @ SS 2 or Steven’s Corner @ OUG / Jln Genting Klang. They are crazee. Occupied the whole street.

onn kee (2)

onn kee (3)

Not only that. They are quite well known for their chicken feet too.

ippoh (2)

As some of them order chicken skin with some spare part like chicken gizzard, none of the people on my table eat it besides me. Smooth chicken skin with soy sauce just make it simple and nice to chew.

ippoh (3)

To be in this town and eat chicken rice, their fatty juicy tauge (bean sprout) is not to be miss, and why is their tauge is thick and juicy. Well, I was being told by my friend that they grow in natural mineral water flowing from moutain. That is why the tauge here is fat, juicy and crunchy.

ippoh (4)

One of my favourite in this stall is their pork ball and fish ball. Something nice to chew and dip onto their chicken meat sauce.

ippoh (5)

Find that Onn Kee ‘Ngah Choi Kai’ a.k.a ‘Tauge Ayam’ taste much better than Lou Wong. Simply because of the method that they cook it differently. On my personal opinion i think that the chicken texture here is soft tender and juicy and of course what stood out is their sesame and soy sauce base make them more outstanding. This is because I had lunch on Lou Wong had dinner here. That is how I manage to taste on the difference even though I came here many times.

ippoh (6)

This is the Koay Teow Soup’ that to be eat with the dish. It is either this or rice. Usually all the people that eat here will take Koay Teow but honestly, after you finishing the whole bowl, a little tip. Prepare a bottle of mineral water after that. You will be very thristy with their secret weapon in there. You really need it. That is why with their secret weapon the food will definitely taste nice no matter what. (This was my tip on 2009) 😀

Looking at the way how I blog last time its funny~ kekekeke

This new edit post is a blend of my 2009 writing style and 2012. Spot the difference~ I find that overall, I like Onn Kee more also just realize that I have not blog about Lou Wong before.

Sometimes, when you want to hunt for food, every state also got their own popular food. As for last round long weekend holiday, some friend brought me to his hometown for Ipoh Food Hunt to eat some great food which is nearby Ipoh called Pusing (click here). After that, we head back to Ipoh town to hit on some great food recommended by them.

ipoh (1)

There is this one particular little stall hidden under this huge tree. Some called it Under the tree Chee Cheong Fun. Its so famous that in a day he do only a few hours business. Not because he is lansi, just that alot people hunt for his food.

ipoh (2)

This uncle a humble and cheerful guy had been running this little stall for more than 10 years and it had gain popularity among the locals.

ipoh (3)

One of the different style compare to Penang is, he have created his own special sauce.

ipoh (4)

And there are 2 types of chee cheong fun, one which is plain and one which is with mince meat if I am not mistaken.

ipoh (5)

So its pair up with another family run little coffee shop and both of them make the whole place packed up within minutes.

ipoh (7)

This is what is so different from Penang style as Penang we use ‘heh koh’ (prawn paste).

ipoh (8)

But in Ipoh, this uncle had created his own special gravy that shower upon the chee chong fun and according to my friend the gravy is made of pork bones and other great ingredients that make it so rich and sweet in taste. Add on with spicy green chili, brown sauce and some chili sauce just makes it perfect for afternoon tea time. RM2.50 per plate

Some people like my friend will need to have 2 plates at least to satisfy their crave. I would say, if you have not given it a try, it is certainly worth to try, consider this is one of the most famous Chee Cheong Fun in Ipoh.

Remark: you might like it or don like it. More like a love – hate relationship.

Operating hours: 2.30pm till finish (means while stock last)

ipoh (11)

Also I notice alot people order White Coffee here, find out that its a bit strong, foamy on the top and just nice to go for afternoon tea. RM2 if I am not mistaken.

Location:
Lahat Lane,
Ipoh, Perak

ipoh (9)

Next is we have to go for what Ipoh is famous for where how white coffee started. Of course I was introduce by one of the best white coffee in Ipoh is located inside this coffee shop, Kedai Kopi Sun Yuan Foong.

ipoh (10)

A normal coffee shop that is packed with many people that usually comes here for breakfast, besides that, the Chee Cheong Fun I mention above, he will operate in this kopitiam in the morning from 8.30am till finish. (where usually finish around 11am)

ipoh (12)

Usually my friend will come here for breakfast and this coffee shop was recommended by 2 of my Ipoh friend already. Guess that it should be good!

ipoh (13)

This is the super star of all White Coffee, as it is in robust coffee that many of our locals will love, a bit thick in texture and for many coffee lovers, you will fall in love with this white coffee. I certainly would love to have 2 glass of this, but surely will hang over later as in yawn and fall asleep. – Recommneded!!!!!

ipoh (14)

This is what my friend will have for breakfast, hot white coffee and with this half boil egg with toast. .

ipoh (15)

Soft break like using the (bakery head brand) where you can find in pasar malam, toast to perfection and topple with this 2 half boil egg.

ipoh (16)

Besides all those white coffee, Ipoh also famous for its Ipoh Chicken Rice, as this is my very first shop I have visited when I first came to Ipoh is Restaurant Onn Kee. One of the reason last time my friend introduce me this shop was because many celebrities came by to this outlet to eat and that’s how I ended up here.

This is not only the restaurant avail as in this stretch of street there are 3 giant players in the area and this restaurant is one of it. Every one prefer different outlet and it really depends on your taste.

ipoh (17)

The crowd pour in non stop and the chef just non stop chopping on the chicken.

ipoh (18)

This is how busy the shop can be during long weekend. All shops are super crowded.

ipoh (19)

You will never want to miss the bean sprout in Ipoh as they are grown differently. According to my friend they are grown by using mineral water, therefore the bean spout in Ipoh is fat and juicy.

ipoh (20)

This is the Ipoh White Chicken (cantonese – Ipoh Nga Choi Kai).

ipoh (21)

Homemade pork and fish balls.

ipoh (22)

Silky smooth koay teow .. . .

Among 3 restaurant available in the area, this shop is my last choice, as the chicken texture and koay teow I do not really like it, but my friend prefer this shop.

Well, it depends on your individual taste as I prefer the one next to this shop. After your Chicken Rice, please do not miss one of the best Soya Bean (Funny Mountain Soya Bean – click here) which is just on the next street which is about 3 minutes walk. Total Damage was around RM 40 if I am not mistaken for a pax of 4

Last 2 weekend when got a bit long weekend holiday, my friend tag me along to a mini makan trip as they are on they way for their business trip and for me, its just more on pure eating~ 😀 . The town is call Pusing.

One of the business partner, introduce me to his small little hometown where by  a few streets away is his grandmother’s place. This small little town is call Pusing, which is located about 20 minutes drive from Ipoh town towards north. If you ask me where the hell am I at the moment, the only answer I can provide you is, I do not know!

Pusing (1)

Its on Monday and the streets here are pretty quiet, a very peaceful town that every one is very friendly. Actually this town is a little Hakka town that according to my friend 90% of them are Hakka. So for hakka speaking people, this will be your chance to shine~

Pusing (2)

If you are talking about to stay in the town, this is the only hotel available which is Pusing Hotel and by far the biggest too, with only 4 rooms available. If you do plan to stay here, book early! :p

Pusing (3)

Then he brought me to this shop that sells one of the local specialty that have no signboard like Ah Seng Kopitiam or watsoever, the only thing for you to recognize is this Blue Zink corner shop with fruit stall right at the front.

Pusing (4)

or directly opposite you can see this gate  . . .

Pusing (5)

This is the noodle that he is very keen on introducing me, as we are very far from heavy breakfast this morning or I would say a while ago, Its hard for me to finish this bowl by myself. If you guys know what is written in Mandarin, please help me translate.!

Pusing (6)

I ask the store owner what is their signature noodle, and they told me curry soup base is their best among neigbourhood. Well, give it a try then . .

Pusing (7)

Love the curry as its, very mild and light in flavor, right after taste is a bit spicy at the end whereby the coconut milk is not too milky yet the soup is aromatic with a bit pandan taste. Its totally different type of curry flavour I have tried so far and the best thing is according to my friend that the noodle is homemade by themselves that the texture taste a bit like laksa noodle and spaghetti, its very unique.

The best part does not only stop on the noodle, GUESS how much is this bowl of noodle? RM1.50 . . ( I was like haaaaaa ??!!! RM 1.50 where the hell can we get a meal in that kind of price.)

You will be surprise how cheap the food in this town is. Yet most of the stalls operate in this kopitiam are homecook style!

Pusing (8)

Another stall that the guy called Ah Chong highly recommend is his favourite Nyonya kuih stall.

Pusing (9)

There are 3 kuih stalls operate side by side that sells different type’s of kuih~

Pusing (10)

This uncle that sells a bit of nyonya kuih style which is highly recommended by my friend.

Pusing (11)

We bought everything in the stalls 2 pieces each that comes out in a 2 big bag and it cost us RM8.70 which our jaw drop again. This uncle made his kuih fresh daily and alot of his business are more on neighbourhood business.

I am definitely coming back for this uncle again as the kuih is good, aromatic and nice!

Pusing (12)

another stalls that selling other types of kuih~

Okay, now that’s the question . .. . HOW to come here right? I have no freaking idea but then if you can find PUSING Police Station then you can find this place easily as its just about a row of shop houses away~

If you are asking me, if you want some cheap nice food, PUSING town is one of the place to hunt for. I will sure be back for their food again if there is a chance and will ta pau a whole big bag of Kuih back to Penang or KL.
