Japanese Food

Browsing
Most of us we love Japanese food, like Sushi King, Sushi Zanmai, Sushi Tei till recently I receive and invites from Shirley to try out their latest ala cart menu in their Japanese restaurant in the hotel, Enju which being my latest adventure. When comes to Japanese food, hardly anyone could resist it.

If you need some privacy, or talking about business deals, VIP room is always a good option.

Not long after everyone arrive, then we were asked, you guys want any sake? I am surely up for this, who would want to miss that, enjoying a great meal of Japanese food and with sake definitely its a great combination.

Then we were first serve with hot sake, and this device caught my attention which actually the sake was actually heat up in this pot ‘Charcoal Stove’ and until at a warm level it was pour to a small bottle and only pour to the small sake cups. This is to preserve the smoothness of the sake and also the taste of it.

Ichinokura Junmai Taruzake’ @ RM50

Moments after that, we were serve with ‘Sawanoi’ a Cold Sake. Loves the design of the pot and ask Sid whether can I steal it or not. Lol~

Till now, I am still learning how to enjoy my food with sake without knowing what is the difference of Hot and cold which is like Red Wine, White Wine. For me, I just love the taste of both the serving, smooth down the throat, not too strong yet I feel very warm after that.

‘Sawano’
Then we start of with a appetizer that was serve instantly ‘Akadashi Miso Shiru’ that are prepared differently everyday.
‘Tatami Iwashi’ is undeniable good that is grilled baby sardine sheets , which is very crispy yet a bit salty and the next thing came into my mind was how nice if can take it with beer.
This is how thin slice it is. RM 8

I have always in hunt to look for nice ‘Gyoza’ and this is quite good with well pan friend on one side yet preserving the ingredient soft and juicy inside and dipping it with the soy sauce is good. RM15
Then we went off to the chef there to see him preparing the sashimi, impress by his cutting skills that just prepare the sashimi in a very short time.

‘Sashimi Fuji’ was well cut and prepare by the amazing chef…
‘Chef Thomas’ and his sashimi presentation. The fine texture, and freshness of the sashimi when was serve by the chef, it was gone moments later and some of them did not stand a chance to get a glimpse of it. Its like now you see, now you don’t.
‘Enju Dynamite Roll’ by its name, you will know that this will blast you off. It had blast me of for this very the first time, I see a roll with pure ingredients of fish roe, tempura, salmon and Japanese cucumber. What have you notice? A roll without a single rice. Just by dipping it with the wasabi, gosh…it would be one of the best roll I have eaten. RM22
If you are thinking ‘Rock and Roll’ will give you a roll, roll it up as it is one of their signature dish with a great combination of mango and fried tempura (deep-fried tiger prawn). RM24

Just love the presentation of ‘Tekka Maki’ with a small rice ball and top with tuna slice and with light sesame shake on top, eating it raw like that and having a sip with hot sake, is just something I do not know how to describe. RM24
‘Gindara Saikyo Yaki’ is one of my favourite dish of the night with its smooth texture of black cod, with its small meat insert to your mouth, it just melt into thin slices to your mouth. Just never had enough of it and wish I could have the whole piece. RM40
‘Okonomiyaki’, I would say its a Japanese Style pancake fried in with prawns, tako, and the bonito flakes topping, is just something you cannot stop eating while chatting and have to eat it while it is warm. When it is cold, it taste a bit weird to me. RM30
‘Sanma Shioyaki’ is one of the diet fish they called healthy dish that with a simple grill and squeeze with lemon is taste as good as it looks. RM10
‘Shake Honey no Potato Salada Yaki’
Grill salmon with a bed of potato is something which I cannot resist. RM19

‘Gyunku kushiyaki’ @ RM15. Juicy and tender which is perfectly grill shower with japanese sauce had made me finish this by myself.

‘Tori Katsudon’ was drench with soy sauce soup base, which I was abit shock, that in my thought wouldn’t it be very salty yet it was not yet very flavorful. I hardly had any space for this but then still enjoying eating eat with the deep-fried chicken cook in soya sauce with shitake mushrooms, carrots, eggs. RM20
During our dinner, Sunny was mention on cold soba and requested to try out one. ‘Santen Mori Soba’ serve with a raw quill egg and watery soy sauce as I know need to pour onto the noodle and mix with it together then dip with the watery sauce. We tried out the first just eating it raw and then mix with the quill egg. Still do not know how to enjoy this dish. RM30
I thought our meal was finish and by stomach was bulging like 3 months pregnant till the serve ‘Yaki Udon’. Very flavourful with the seafood aroma. RM24
‘Ichigo Daifuku Mochi’ had always been in Japanese menu, yet the home made style with strawberry buried inside with the chewy texture and not that sweet is something that I enjoy. RM16
Lastly, a occasion that we must celebrate which is Sidney’s Mom’s Birthday with Sunny (Bigboysoven) bringing his marvelous cake Pancake Marble Gateaux.

On that night, we laugh, we chat, we celebrate and every one was feed very very full, till for me, walk also a problem by using my hand to support my waist to walk. Shirley, have to thank you for your invitation. See you soon~

I still remember when I was in Jakarta for holiday 2 years ago, my Indonesian friend that tour me around and they told me that, there is a shop I must try. One of the best in the states, then they brought me to Sushi Tei, loves their concept and their environment is totally different from any of the Japanese restaurant we have in those days.

Now in Malaysia, Sushi Tei is the latest addition in Japanese Food Industry which is orignate from Singapore , being new in the market which is situated in Tropicana Mall, easily to look for car park space and after meal can head to the cinema.

With their cozy interior design which is quite comfortable to enjoy your good meal as me and my friends were chatting quite long after the meal as it sn’t feel like we need to be hurry, this branch their interior is not as luxury compare to Singapore or Jakarta.

Their menu is not much different from Sushi Zanmai but of course they do have a few signature rolls here which I order back in Jakarta.

‘Tempura Chicken Floss’ Tempura is fresh yet the crust of it was well fried. By covering the chicken floss evenly around it. I am enjoying every pieces of it. RM6

Being a fan of salmon which when I dine at Sushi Zanmai, I surely would not miss this and since its available here, I am looking forward to try what is the difference. ‘Salmon Mentai’, the mayo is a bit thick which the flavor had overpowers the freshness of the salmon. Still prefer the one at Sushi Zanmai. RM6

‘Ebiko’ is like the fish roe which I enjoy eating too as the guy wrapped in front of me. That show’s the sign of freshness. RM3.80

Squid has always been my favorite, but this is ‘Tako Wasabi’ already season with wasabi and its fresh. I enjoy eating it cuz its chewy yet spicy. RM6

In this restuarant they are more famous for their big roll thing as what I have been told by my Indonesian friend. If you thought of eating something different which restaurant menu do not have then I saw this ‘Chiki Roll’ by wrapping it with the rice round the fried chicken and sprinkle with sesame seed and chili powder flakes, it taste a bit spicy yet dip it with wasabi gives you the kick of it. RM18

This is how I ended up. Spicyness of the chili flakes yet with the wasabi dipping my tears also came out. Cannot tahan.

Stimm after from the effect.

This was one of the favorite that I was expose to during my trip and its available here too. ‘Golden Roll’ RM19.80 Fried hot from the wok and wrapped with the rice and end up with a slice of the mango. The mango was fresh and sweet that had blended well with the taste of the prawns and by dipping with the wasabi, just add the kick’ness onto it. Recommended.

As I prefer this shop more than Sushi Zanmai of course I will be returning to this shop more~

During this season, if you are craving for Japanese food, this is the restaurant that you should be looking for. My very first time encounter Vegetarian Japanese Restaurant.

A Japanese sushi menu.

While I was looking at the menu, then do not know what to order and I ask the person to introduce me what is their signature then she request me to try out ‘Shin Yu Sushi’. Even though the structure doesnt look nice but it was something that can cure my craving. Its nice. RM6
Then for my main I order Miso Udon doesnt comes near to my taste but as it rejects the flavor. Nothing near to the taste of Miso soup and the mushroom taste had overpower most of the ingredient in there. RM8
Besides Japanese food, they still do offer alot of stir fried end on their wall, there are a few newspaper cutting mentioning on their dishes even though I do not know how to read Chinese. For this round I am giving what I eat above. Might try out their stir fried if got chance.

Revisit Sushi Zenmai again. Was with my friend that she thought of wanted to go on diet, then I mention Japanese food as good for girls on diet, less oil. Lol~ So went there and the best part was did not need to Que up as I was there around 3.30pm on weekdays..Lol~
This is what my friend ordered Kani Avocado Salad’. To me when I saw it I was like ‘yeeewwwww avocado, hate it!!! so soft as in it can just imagine my friend vomiting the things out from their mouth~ yucks!!!’ but do not underestimate this, with the special don know what dressing down on the salad, you will just race to the finish as 1 bowl of dressing not enough, asked for another 1. RM 12.80 for the lovely salad
Me on my diet too, so decided to order ‘Curry Udon Chicken’. Wow, this is the first time I had a nice curry chicken udon, the feeling is just like what I ate back in those days when I was in melb at one of the lunch box restaurant at Swanston Street nearby RMIT. The gravy is nice, a bit thick, sweet and curry powder taste. Some ppl might not like it but to mee its very nice. RM10.80 for this udon.
This 2 are my favourite’s which is ‘Salmon Mentai and Aburi Hotate. Once you try you will fall in love with it. RM 6 each.
Overall, still recommended this restaurant as the service is prompt and good food but I still think that the 1 in One-U taste better.

Was searching for nice Japanese food and Jeslin recommended this Kampachi Restaurant, have heard good food review that they provided here. Been always saying wanted to dine here, and finally get the chance to go with their classy outlook and cozy interior.

This restaurant is pretty huge with its luxury interior settings and spacious. Feel cosy to sit in a place like that to enjoy your meal.

Here are all the shasimi and sushi being prepared by all the busy chef here. All of the raw ingredients looks fresh.

This is what I have ordered. In the menu, the picture looks different from the rest so give it a try. They serve in a set and comes with miso, chawamushi, chicken and the main is Some salmon mix with egg roe. It is a cold dish. Did not know that. I use my chopstick and stir everything in there. Taste a bit weird at first cuz it is cold but then after a while, taste nice. The chicken is nicely deep fried. Chrispyyy on the outside, juicy on the inside. This is ‘Shake Oyako/Wakadori RM35
This is what Ian ordered Teppanyaki Beef Set’. When the set is serve, we were pretty shock of the serving portion. With his size, definitely he ordered the right food. I can’t take beef,so cannot review on it but what he said is the beef is just tender, soft and nice. Not too cook as he order it to be half done. It cost RM48
Jeslin order this as she said wanted to go diet, ‘Sushi Bento. The shashimi is very fresh as this is what I say. It cost RM 48
Jean ordered Unadon & Salmon’. I have no comment on this dish cuz she sat the other end of me, so my hand can’t stretch so what she said was so so only except the Unagi is nice. The dish is RM40

Gyu Katsu Don’ is what Jay Jay have for the night. It is something like Oyako don. This dish I would recommend as it is nicely cook on the chicken meat, the egg is not too cook, nice to blend/mix with the rice. Goes along very well. It is RM40 which I would say a bit expensive for this.

Ian is like a vacuum cleaner, sucking all the sauce and finish the whole dish. Dinosaur. Trying to cover his face not to be identified.

Jeslin too finish everything but I did help her on the last 2 piece of sushi. Trying to avoid too like Ian.
Good meal must always finish with a desert. Jeslin ordered this Macha Zenzai cost RM16. Nothing special about it as a green tea ice cream with red bean sauce and Japanese mua chi. Can get it in MOF on the food court level which is something similar.
This is what Ian get for his desert Goma IC Special’ RM 16. I think it is special because of the biscuits standing tall with red bean, mango, Japanese mua chi and Sesame Ice Cream(which I don like). Special in the deco but taste normal.
After sit, chat and eat by deciding to call for the bill, it comes up the total off RM289. What I can say is the price of the fine dining restaurant. Cant blame for it.
