uma (1)

The Uma which located in Kota Damansara next to the Strand that offers a great selection of Balinese food and best of all, its a shop that offers NON-HALAL food. The chef cum owner had work in Indonesia previously and decided to come back to spread Balinese cuisine to locals.

uma (2)

The whole interior was decorated to get as much feel of Balinese as possible, with wooden chairs and tables, and if you prefer something different for dining, you can head upstairs.

They are reasonably price with the portion they serve, you better opted to share and it is advice that for a pax of 3 person you order 2 person’s meal. If not enough then only decided to order extra.

As to end on our meal, we ordered  Es Campur Bali RM9  a bowl of Bali’s ABC brimmed with cendol, jackfruit, cincau & coconut. Something which is not too sweet and I love the jackfruit, if they add in more would be even more nice.

Our dinner was rather simple to order as in sets, a set that can just satisfy us that serve most of the authentic balinese food under one big plate. A meal with reasonable price and companion certainly we will be back for more again!

I love travelling and one of the place I travel quite often few years back was Indonesia, then did stay there for about a month too till I ask my friends to bring me around the whole city and went for food hunting. Since then, its hard to find nice Indonesian food except Ayem Penyet which is one of my favorite that I find it similar to their local taste.  IR 1968 Indochine Restaurant and Bar.

Not until last week, a dinner was organise here by Lisa and Henry at Terrance Hock Choon that a newly build up area that operate not that long located at Jalan Ampang, which is a conversion of an old building to a few combination of restaurant that serve fine dining with a classic old building that provide a perfect ambiance to host a romantic dinner, corporate function or even events.

IR (2)

A few restaurant is in this place and what I have been told by my friend that the Japanese Restaurant Fukuharu serve pretty unique menu for the night, as the menu is a board with a limited choices (served fresh ingredient for the day) with chef’s special.

IR (3)

IR stands for Indonesian Restaurant which I got to know that is one of a famous restaurant that visited by many celebrities in Hong Kong and recently had branches a new outlet in Kuala Lumpur.

Through its great history that the restaurant had been founded as early as 1968 by Hudson’s grandfather operating their first outlet in Hong Kong then operate by his dad and now himself, the cuisine is serve with a hint of Chinese mix Indonesian as they are originally from Indonesia and operate in Hong Kong that the taste changes to suit local taste bud.

IR (4)

Let’s head up to the restaurant for a peek before dining.  . . It was decorated with a very romantic feel at the ground floor with pale white near transparent curtain hanging around the stair ways and candle light lit all the way up to the restaurant.

IR (5)

IR (6)

I love how the restaurant is decorated by painting black on the walls and ceiling, modern Chinese lantern is place up, filled with ashes wooden chairs and tables.

IR (7)

Lovely couples can be seated seated here, with the place is decorated perfectly with candles, laterns and dim oval, lights placed in between.

There is another hidden jewel in Kuchai Lama that just got discover recent which introduce by that Karen which is her turf for food. This makcik which only operate in the afternoon that did draw quite a number of crowd to her small simple stall which locate in front of Cili Padi junction.

Apom Balik

Apom Balik (2)

This would be the malay apom balik version which you can always get at Pasar Ramahdan.

Apom Balik (3)

Her normal recipe would be just with kacang and the way how she sprinkle the kacang on it, its just not the cheap skate type, cover the whole piece with kacang and end up with small chunk of butter.

Apom Balik (4)

This would be my version which is a must to add on Corn onto my ‘Apom Balik’ and told her that I want a bit more crispy.

Apom Balik (5)

As I always order it and eat in front while its hot, crispy on the whole piece with the butter melting and dripping from the other end till I have to open my leg kang kang a bit so that don drop on my clothes. Its simply delicious on how this simple apom can be.. Surely Its in my recommendation list as RM0.60 per piece for normal 1 and RM0.70-RM0.80 for add on corn.
