I guess for the pass 6 months is the big buzz off Burger and Cafe. In KL we have quite a few famous one like MYBurger Lab or street Burger Kaw Kaw (which is now overrated) with different version of it. In Penang Island, Marshall’s Burger had been a hit for the past 6 months with them starting selling burger at the road side in Pulau Tikus area, opposite Belissa Row that you will not miss a long queue at night after 8pm, this would make them hold the title Penang Best Burger. Not only that, the best part is they sell pork too.

Marshall's Burger (1)

Few months down the road, now they have successuflly bring the brand to another level by operating in a shop lot at Burmah Road or next to Penang Plaza.

Marshall's Burger (2)

A shop that filled with simple decoration in a old building with wooden menu that place all their signature burger on the wall.

Marshall's Burger (3)

Sitting place in here is rather limited as I was highly advise by my best friend to head there early, and I was lucky that they do operate for lunch on Weekends. as for weekedays only at night.

Marshall's Burger (4)

Marshall's Burger (5)

Menu is rather straight forward with few choices to choose from or different meat.

Marshall's Burger (7)

People like me, sure will do add on’s

Marshall's Burger (8)

Onion rings are pretty good by frying to perfection that its crisp inside out with Marshall special sauce, its like a combination of bbq with light sour sauce, will pair very well with beer. .Ended up order another portion  RM 6.50

Marshall's Burger (9)

The Biscon with 2 beef patty, 2 cheddar cheeze and bacon@ RM 15.80

Marshall's Burger (12)

Classic Beef @ RM 8.90

Marshall's Burger (10)

For pork lover, you can opt for this .. The Boar that comes with 2 patty, 2 cheeze and bacon @ RM 16.50

Marshall's Burger (17)

Here is my special verison of burger as I order only The Bull – with 1 beef patty and cheddar and I add on with 1 pork patty @ RM 6

Marshall's Burger (13)

Then we deconstruct the beef patty . . .

Marshall's Burger (14)

Grill till the meat is just nice, not too dry yet not too solid as in between have slight airy feel. Just nice.

Marshall's Burger (18)

here is my pork patty and I find beef taste better.

Marshall's Burger (11)

Those who do not prefer beef or Pork you can go for chicken which is Bacon Special Chicken Thigh with a cheeze and patty @ RM 8.90

Marshall's Burger (15)

The burger is pretty good and their amazing signature is the sauce that makes the whole thing different. Only set back is the bread that  they are using, not so fluffy and its doesn’t taste fresh. Sauce is good and if they can intorduce another 1 or 2 more then its perfect.

For this kind of price, its definitely a great bargain, and will surely return again.

If in Penang its will be a top  notch place and good enough to satisfy your burger craving. Please do not compare to other joint in KL.

Marshall's Burger (19)

My friends are all a good fan of this brand.

Every year during Ramadan month, I love to hunt for pasar ramadan and I have been to a few that is quite dissapointing around my area. Did went back to TTDI pasar Ramadan and it seems much smaller this year compare to last year as they cover the whole square. This year is only 1 of the street more like 1/4 of the size last 2 year. (click here). Pasar Ramadan Section 14.

Then my colleague mention to me that, at Section 14 behind the mosque. . She mention that most of the food here are pretty good ..

pasar ramadan (1)

Upon arrival I thought its gonna be a big one and I finish walking within 5 minutes. So walk around and scout which stall to buy . .

pasar ramadan (2)

apparently I realize that most of the stalls here are pretty commercialize that they do branding themselves with banners and some with name card. Impress~

This is one of the stalls that is the most popular in the whole area as they have the longest queue. Penang Popiah . .

pasar ramadan (3)

I didnt know Penang Popiah is in this version . . .dry`

pasar ramadan (4)

It looks messy and messy stalls always serve good food, I didnt try because of the queue,  maybe you can try then let me know 🙂

pasar ramadan (5)

pasar ramadan (6)

Ikan Bakar

pasar ramadan (7)

pasar ramadan (8)

Rendang stalls

pasar ramadan (9)

Texture and colour looks good. Definately smells tempting ..

pasar ramadan (10)

Nasi Beriani Gam . .

pasar ramadan (11)

Looks good though and the stall owner is friendly. .

pasar ramadan (12)

Ayam bakar

pasar ramadan (13)

Among so many stalls, this caught my attention the most, first of all with its name Barbarian Grill Sandwich and I guess since after Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw, you can see many grill stall in Pasar Ramadan and I realise that I no longer see burger ramlee style burger selling . . A change of trend?

pasar ramadan (14)

We decided to give it a try as they have their own home made patty that looks pretty good and price ranges, with Special means just add a slice of Cheeze with additional for RM2 I find it pretty expensive for a stall like that.

pasar ramadan (15)

The look of it certainly is tempting ..

pasar ramadan (16)

this is the Special Beef and Chicken

pasar ramadan (17)

Here it comes with my Beef Special for RM7 top with homemade gravy and mushroom. Meat had grill to perfection that its juicy and moist in there with the cheeze half melted on the patty is just perfect!

If you ask me for RM7 for a small packet like that its pretty expensive with its patty light weight and small if you compare with other outlets. It taste good and worth to try.

this is the only place you can hunt for it as its still on their testing stage.

Many of us know Ramlee Burger is a little stall that operate by road side or in neighborhood area to cater small little demand around the place and not many burger stall actually are good and to hunt for really nice one, is just a few. Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar is taking the lead for burger evolve.

Well, I should say that burger do evolve and we do know that alot restaurant do their burger patties to be unique from other restaurant and this is the latest discovery that my friend introduce me, not Ramlee burger, not burger from fancy restaurant. . . Its a burger stall that operate by a malay family that do their very own beef patties that chargrill it as they name it Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar

kau kau (1)

Its a burger stall that located in Wangsa Maju whereby at the stretch of famous mamak stall to Tarc students BRJ with big yellow sign board and the burger stall is located directly the other end of the shop house or consider in front of this shops.

kau kau (2)

This is no ordinary burger stall as they operate quite a huge place and you can see a huge bbq pit sitting there grilling many pieces of burger patties none stop, and there is a little queue.

kau kau (3)

So we just follow what others do. . .

kau kau (4)

and they do offer place for you to dine as you have to wait for other people to finish theirs then you will get your place.

kau kau (5)

kau kau (6)

They actually also have hall of fame on how many patties of burger you can take. On another picture, there is a slim guy that ate , I think 11 patties.. that is seriously OMG! with 180g per pastie. Try to imagine that.

Price wise is very reasonable as a set that comes with extra 2 sausages and 1 drink cost only RM 10.

kau kau (7)

The chef preparing the pattie.

kau kau (9)

So they place the pattie on this hot pit and grill it. .

kau kau (10)

2 versions of meat on the pit, KFC style fried chicken that act as Chicken burger ..

kau kau (11)

kau kau (8)

and this is the beef patties waiting to be park along with the bread.

kau kau (12)

the chicken version with a slice of cheese sitting on top and slowly melting off.

kau kau (13)

I was told by the guy there that this is their signature is to add along with a slice of bacon. Of course I follow his advice

kau kau (14)

A burger that is quite moist and not dry ..

kau kau (15)

How can I not have my burger without a cheese, as its always a must for me.

kau kau (16)

This is what Ken had, triple stack which is crazy. Too huge and lots of meat to consume with every piece is 180g, so 3 pieces about half kg meat already. The meat was grill till moist and not too dry inside. On that day we had, there are quite alot of veins in the meat, so there are a few small pieces need to take out.

As for me one normal set with bacon on top is good enough for me and according to Ken, after the 3rd pieces he felt like eating oil already which I agree with the way they grill it.

Advise is just go for single set and if you are a big eater double is good enough.

Well, if you want to eat something unique compare with other Ramlee stalls, this is one of the stall I would be Recommending because of homemade style.

can check out others: Burger Bakar Abang Burn

It had been ages since I last came to this shop. The last time when I came was back to 2009 which I did blog bout it before when I just started blogging (click here). As today I went for my first medical check up, thought of revisit this shop and Just got to know that they have change their name of the shop, from restaurant Living Food to MKP Lam Mee or Uptown Lam Mee (wondering is it the same) which I thought should be as the whole shop setting still the same.

The only difference in this shop is the crowd as I remember few years back, to get a spot in this shop is quite hard, as it was one of a famous Lam Mee shop in Uptown or among the neighborhood as my friend recommend to me.

Well, I still stick to their traditional signature ‘Lam Mee’ whereby the difference compare to Penang we call this ‘Loh Mee’ as our Lam Mee is in clear soup version. You get to choose their thick noodle or thin noodle as I still remember they are famous for their thick noodle. The soup base is still thick and a bit starchy yet still the same taste as I previously ate before the only difference is the texture of the thick noodle had change. Find it a bit sticky not so nice to chew compare to last time and I prefer mine to add on with their 2 small plate of sambal to make it extra kick! If next round I would order, I would go for their thin noodle. I think it would be better.

Only difference between the thing is the noodle and of course price had increase. A plate of Lam Mee, 2 pieces of ‘Fried Sui Kaw’ and 1 chinese tea cost RM10.10.

Since that now is the starting of the Kaw Ong Yah (Nine Emperor God Festival) which yesterday is the first day. So I am going vegetarian for 9 days during this occasion. It is seriously a big headache if go vegetarian in KL not like in Penang, every corner filled with the stalls on the road side, restaurants are packed with people. Google had been my good friend for this upcoming 9 days.

What is the celebration of Nine God Festival you can click on the link provided that I have surf and came across to get a better idea what is this one of a big Chinese occasion.

During this occasion I will mostly blog about vegetarian restaurant that I eat around. This is one of the place that my friend brought me here and its sardine pack. Not really a big shop and the parking is a pain in the ass. You can double park but please put your name and number on the front.

I don remember the name as it is a economy rice style just pick what you want. So this are the things that we have picked up.

‘Pig’s Tail’ the look very authentic yet similar but once bite even though it is vegetarian, it taste about the same but too salty.

This one is quite alright with the peanut is quite soft and its suppose to be as salty as it is.

If it added abit spicy it would taste even better and the veggie is salty good too.

I like this which fried quite chewy on the thing itself yet the sauce is a bit sweet. Did not too deep fry.

Preserve its original taste and lucky thing did not overfried.
2 types of rice you can try out. The white rice and this 1 cannot remember what is the name.
One of my friend tried out ‘Curry Mee’. It looks fiery red but not spicy, added on the whole sauce plate chili. Would not complain too much on the soup cuz its vegetarian.
Would not prefer to come back to this shop to eat unless no choice, cuz in my taste I still thinking of the vegetarian food taste fronm Penang. So its quite a big different. The price in this shop is slightly above average.
