[update: Jan 2014 uncle and auntie had moved. dont know where they are now]

How many of you often crave for food? I often crave for a few food and Curry Mee is one of it. In Klang Valley/ Selangor area, it is definately very hard to find Penang Curry Mee and one which is the nearest to Penang few years ago is Lorong Seratus Tahun in SS2. After they have converted to HALAL status, I no longer go back to that shop anymore. The different between Penang Version and KL version is Penang soup base is more towards coconut taste and KL version is more towards curry chicken ..

Well, the auntie previously did their business at a kopitiam behind KFC and now they have move to Millennium Eighty Six still inside seapark. thanks to Bangsarbabe as I borrow her pics. . :D, the sipek good in food hunting, introduce us this auntie which is from Penang that cook authentic Penang Curry Mee. We used to dine alot and now she move we also follow along.

a simple stall that locate inside the shop which is next to the kopitiam coffee making stall.

curry mee (4)

This picture was taken at the old stall in Seapark but I did not retake the new one at the new stall as the most important is the curry mee still the same.

curry mee (5)

They have a few condiments that is available in the stall as it depends on what you order.

curry mee (6)

This is the thing that you must not MISS. A bowl of simple Penang Curry Mee @ RM4.50 for small bowl and RM5 in big bowl. The auntie is really generous on the portion.

curry mee (7)

This simple Penang Curry Mee is the killer that often makes me crave for it. A bowl that comes along with tofu puffs, prawns, cockles, cuttlefish and best of all got pork blood, mine this round I add on with Pork Ball (RM0.80 additional each). The important is the soup base that hint of coconut, a bit clear, sweet that the auntie use alot of prawn heads to cook the soup and with a hint of pandan too. Then the chili that given separately, as I prefer mine to at least add on 1 spoonfull of chili to make it super chili red and spicy.

Anyway, if you do crave for Penang Curry Mee, I rate this by far the best and its a MUST TRY! The auntie also used to serve Koey Teow Soup and Penang Hokkien Mee (prawn Noodle) which is good too, as currently this is her new location, she will bring back her signature soon. Do watch out if you do go . .

Not only that, my friend introduce me the WEstern food next to the curry mee stall and I must say its a bomb.

2 huge slab of Pork chop that cost only RM10, definately very fresh piece of pork meat being slowly grill on the pan and drench with rosemanrry black pepper sauce is just very satisfying. Another thing to aim for in this coffee shop. – Highly recommended.

One of the thing that I have been asking around from my Malay friends and colleague are which pasar ramahdan is recommended to go? There are a few actually with like of Kelana Jaya, Taman Tun Dr.Ismail (TTDI) Pasar Ramahdan 2010 and one of the most highly recommended was Taman Melawati but then for this round, we, me, Ken and Andrew decided to make our first street photography and food hunt at TTDI.

We reach the place pretty early around 3pm and there are still some stalls setting up but most of them are already selling like hot cakes. One of the reason that the residence are unhappy about this about the traffic is cannot deny that this TTDI Pasar Ramahdan is quite impressive with its size of the bazaar is big, circulating the main middle area of shop houses.  It will be start off with the stretch in front Popeye towards KFC and to Shell end, more like a retangular shape. You Imagine yourself how big it is.

this post will be more on pictures on this lovely Pasar Ramahdan.

One place that we have been talking for months that Ken keep mentioning how good this place was till I tak boleh tahan and request to go but for the last round we head here, it was half way through as it was bloody jam after the Shah Alam Klang Toll. Till few weeks ago, I mention again and directly Ken agree and we drive all the way to Klang just to hunt for one particular restaurant that served Fried Chicken, Ayem Percik and Yao Yao Ping. Kedai Makanan & Minuman Yao Yao Ping

Based on the crowd and people, this place is famous to its neighbourhood and during public holiday draws crowd as far from other states, as I were here on weekend, I find that this place is more like a family gathering as it draws those family with their young children. As I understoond, kids love Friend Chicken, so am I when I was a kid escially I would just go for only Drumstick.

KfC

It was an old kopitam that located some where in Klang Valley as Ken knows the way as he is a regular customer there.

KfC (2)

One thing to start off with is that, I must order this Yao Yao Ping and Mango flavour @ RM1.50-RM2 is the best among all. Ken and Andrew directly order 2 glass each and me, since they order that, I decided to try out other flavour.

KfC (3)

Ayam Percik being grilled and served hot top on with their own special gravy.

KfC (4)

KfC (5)

KfC (6)

Besides their speciality, we get to choose an option of Ham, Hotdog, Crab – China Hamburger and popiah too.

KfC (7)

Do not expect the place to be air condition but consider the style of it, it is considered clean already.

KfC (8)

Then I start off with my China Burger – Ham that taste much better than the ones available in pasar malam, which is not that oily yet the big slice of ham is there.

KfC (9)

Then here comes their signature in the house, ‘Fried Chicken’ @ RM2-RM3.50 as I start off mine with two drumstick, then Ken and Andrew asked me seriously! “Are you sure that two is enough for you?” I said might be, then they said don siau la..where got enough. . . .

KfC (10)

This is the reason why they ask me a serious question as this is their portion. After finish my two drumstick, I ended up ordering another 4 more pieces which is two thigh and two wings. I would say, this is one of the best fried chicken that I have tasted so far with the skin is crips, hot, aroma with those kind taste that the meat in it is soft and juicy. Dip with the available normal chili sauce is good enough!

KfC (11)

This is my Yao Yao Ping as I mixed it with two flavour, ‘Red Bean and Asam Boi’ both taste good but under this hot weather and after I ate those fried stuff, Asam Boi stands out more as it is more refreshing and I love the sourness of it.

KfC (12)

Then there is one kid ordered this, all mix. I just wonder how it taste.

For this kind of environment with the food quality like that total damage for my share around RM11 with drinks and Chicken is quite good, sure I am a satisfied customer. If you ever do food hunting in Klang, just do not miss this great Friend Chicken and Yao Yao ping, just be here early before 1pm to get the Mango, as I finish and want to ta pau the Mango Flavour, its all sold out and the rest are available. Next great taste is Watermelon and Asam Boi. A Recommended place by me.

I used to travel to Jakarta quite frequent and did event stay there for a month leisure and business few years back. Since then my Indonesian friend brought me tried out a lot of their local street food and it just taste good. Since then I am back here, the only shop that taste near to that country so far that I have tried is Waroeng Penyet and Ole Ole Bali but now, there is another restaurant called Little Warong Jakarta that newly open about a month ago that cater authentic Jakarta food that more towards Javanese.

[no longer in operation]

Jakarta

The restaurant is located nearby KFC and it wasn’t hard to find afterall..

Jakarta (2)

The whole place was decorated in more like a old classic kopitiam style as according to Remus, most of the shop that operate good food is have something similiar to this kind of ambiance. The wall are covered with many pictures of Jakarta from olden to modern days.

I see Thomas Cup as one of the great matches like EPL but it’s the Asian version where most of the people in Asia, would watch this cup that host every 2 years. The last round that was hosted by Malaysia was 10 years ago and for the year 2010 Malaysia get to host one of the prestigious tournament at Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

I have Google about this competition and the leading Cup winner is China, Indonesia, Malaysia and some other countries, with current Malaysian team playing at home ground, expectations is high and hoping to lift the trophy again as what Rashid Sidek era which was lifted once by Malaysia during year 1992, but this round they are encountering all time favourites China and Indonesia, that had line up a strong team for this competition.

I was lucky enough to watch get an opportunity to watch it live on this very semi final match that full with ‘kancheongness’ and hopes to prevail to Final and lift the cup.

I was here around 6 and the car park was FULL and the amount of people in this place is amazingly alot. I thought of buying KFC to eat but I see the line I also wanted to faint as the people are lining up a BIG S.

While about to enter, Malaysian home fans already cheering, shouting, drumming and the atmosphere of excitment is there.

My friends from Indonesia came over to visit me, so as usual for night supper what I usually bring my friends go is Murni. I feel that the food is nice and the price is reasonable. One bad thing about here is, if you are very hungry, this would not be a place I would recommend as sometimes, have to wait extremely long for your food to arrive. There are times that I waited for an hour.

Surprisingly for that night, the food came pretty instant. Just order and came around 3 mins later. Which I also kacau the guy, saying that ‘ eh eh, this is the orang cancel order 1 iziit?’ he laugh and walk away. But the food is warm and hot. Just out from the kitchen. Told my friend that she was lucky tonite that the food serve so fast. Maybe knowing that, there are tourist s eating, so priority 1st.

So this round decided to try the ‘Roti Dragon’ which waited for around 15 minutes cost RM10.
I have never tried out this before but knowing that it is one of the famous item there but but but when I cut open, it is like chicken pie full with filling.

The taste is extremely good, the sauce taste is abit creamy, like mushroom soup, the slices of ham in there is a lot and huge, the chicken cubes and slices also a lot. It is like a mixture of mushroom soup and chicken pie to make it like this. The sauce on top of the skin is tomato puree which is to make their spaghetti bolognaise which goes perfectly well with the serve. The nan skin is soft and warm.

By just eating one of this, is enough to kill you off. We eat it till the very last bite. With the price tag on this dragon, I feel its pretty reasonable for such a huge dragon and also ingredient in it.
