You may be familiar with Turkish coffee, made in that little special pot dipped in hot sand. But today, let’s step back in time to the social beginnings of Turkish coffee, specifically in the vibrant city of Istanbul during the 16th century.

Back then, it was said that the beans came from Yemen and then blended with coffee from the East Indies and India. People would enjoy the coffee in coffee houses, which are apparently ancient equivalents of kopitiams today where people can basically socialise with others.

This is the story behind one of two Nespresso Limited Edition flavours from their Coffee Houses range: Cafè Istanbul. As mentioned in my Instagram post, I’ll be focusing my review and food pairing with this flavour.

While both have their own personalities, I think Cafè Istanbul is better suited for those who love strong coffee. Its flavour profile is bold but smooth, with a hint of spice from the peppery aftertaste, which goes quite well with dark chocolate.

Like how the Turkish people enjoy their coffee, you can drink Nespresso’s Cafè Istanbul as a shot and  pair it with their classic dessert, baklava. The honeyed sweetness of baklava really adds a lightness to the intensity of the coffee flavour and aroma, perfect for an afternoon coffee break.

I also tried the Cafè Istanbul as a latte, but I personally prefer having it as an espresso. The flavour is more prominent, and you can really appreciate its smoothness of its body that isn’t too acidic.

After Heineken winning a Gold Awards on yesterday dinner and I am back with them for another round to witness the final contest of  Heineken’s ‘Kick-Off to Ibiza’ finale. With many contestant around, it had been then narrow down to 40 finalists to be called upon in this event. Then they are being test again on the day, and with 6 finalist are being up on stage, which will make them a 50-50% of winning the all expense paid trip.

Winners will be joining 200 Heineken fans from around the world in an ultra-luxurious VIP experience at the UCL Final viewing event in Ibiza, Spain – which will see the best of football and music culminating in one spectacular event. .

As it hit the last round anxiety and excitement filled the air during the Q&A session where six finalists who successfully uncovered the authentic tickets were then pitted against each other to test their football knowledge. They were put to test till the question hit the year of 1999.

With a combination of intelligence, imagination and inventiveness, three Malaysians won themselves an all-expense paid trip to Ibiza, Spain to watch the screening of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final on May 25. Congrats to all of you~

Every year, comes to any big festive season, its actually time to give back some to the community known as ‘Prosperity Gives Back’ . As for this year, which is the 3rd year and in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the Prosperity Burger, the prime franchise in Malaysia is dedicating 19th and 20th January 2013 to raise proceeds for more than 60 local charity homes.

Not only that, the word ‘PROSPERITY’ stands for 10 values that McDonald’s holds dear, ” Happiness, Friendship, Love, Satisfaction, Peace, Abundance, Sharing, Family, Affection and Joy”. Prosperity Gives Back marks the first 2013 community initiative by McDonald’s to touch as many lives, as far reaching as possible across the nation. On these 2 days, RM1 will be donated to the ‘Prosperity Gives Back’ campaign with every purchase of a Prosperity Meal.

The campaign comes with a  huge success that help many of the center.

“Thanks to a generous donation from McDonald’s Prosperity Gives Back program, we were able to settle a significant portion of our expenses including the deposit and rent for our premises, at a time when we were in a desperate need for funds. This timely contribution ensured that the folks under my care continued to have a place where they could call home,” said Norma Safa, caretaker of Nur Home for the Disabled.

It was a free flow Moët Rosé Impérial for all night long and many of them are already turn to red, no longer pinkish. 😀

The taste is nice as I have tried on their classic bottle where most happen to be in wedding or special occasions and this creates a flamboyant palate fuses intensity and roundness—fleshy and juicy at first, then firm (fruit stone), with a subtle herbal (mint) finish.

Few days ago went to Absolut Vodka event that held in Ecobar. A event which is truly unique by itself. How many of you have not heard about this brand before? Well, usually I love to see the shelf of Vodka in airport as constantly they do have their limited edition bottle of flavour, and I do collect their limited edition if by chance I came back from travel, till date I have collected 7 different flavours and bottles. Besides that, its one of the world’s best selling international premium spirit.

What I mean unique is that we get to do the mixture ourself and its interesting to learn it by how many ml of liquor x with how many amount of mixer to get the perfect combination.

Aren’t we Malaysians are very pampered with lots of choice so beers? Now, Tiger Crystal is back in action as they are taking this year end festive period to pour into the market again, that it is no doubt clear and easy to drink beer.

When festive mood kicks in, so what is next? of course it will be all down with food. . .

It has no doubt that, at the end of the session, the beer pairing with food either on entree, mains or desert turns out to be a good experience and those of you out there, shall be expecting more Tiger Crystal in the market just during this festive season . . .
