Cuz they start operating after 2pm. Go too early also don have.

As I tried 2 attempt previously as once they were closed, 2nd time I was too early thought of trying my luck as I was there in that area early, mana tau..don have..

Dining in here can be very hot and if you do not mind for a good plate of nasi lemak with some sweat then do drop by.

nasi lemak (9)

This is what I usually order back in those days, their signature fried chicken wit white cabbage & mutton (curry banjir)and of course……….

The fried chicken that must not miss. I waited 15 minutes for the chicken and yet they still taste the same as last time.
I highly recommended this place to eat if you stand a chance to go nearby that area.

It has been long long time since I last came to this coffee shop and I think the last round I came here was bout 12 years ago, during college time. Used to come here to have our breakfast weekly before class and since then did not really come over. Its one of a famous kopitiam, New Cathay Kopitiam known for breakfast that you will be spoil for choices, as the food here are pretty good.

new cathay (1)

Till last holiday, went for hiking and came down, then my friend keep asking me where to eat and I mention why not go back to our old kopitiam and he mention good idea where he also did not go there for quite a while.

new cathay (2)

As usual, I will order my few favourites in a shop and I am suprise to see that this Curry Mee stall is listed as one of a top 10 food to eat in a online guide and my friend told me that their business been so good that make them actually a star in this kopitiam. They also got feature in Penang Food Trail and Rasa Rasa Penang.

new cathay (4)

All the classic food are available as you name it, most of the food you can get it here, from Char Koay Kak, HOkkien Mee, Char Koey Teow, Wantan Mee, and many more. . .

new cathay (5)

Not only that, this kopitiam had gain its popularity to many tourist, as the table I am sharing, have Indonesians, Ipoh People and Thai people.

new cathay (6)

Oh, one of my favourite Indian Apam as Penang version is slightly different to those in KL. Right in the middle we have an egg that makes it flavourful. I forgot to take pic of it. 😀

new cathay (7)

HOkkien Mee here are pretty good as the soup base are pretty sweet with prawn head taste and I always love mine to have lots of Chili to make it extra kick.

new cathay (8)

Although Curry Mee are listed in food guide and online guide, I find that the soup flavour is pretty mild with coconut taste and the curry paste they have is slightly different. The squid sauce that make it slightly sweet that doesnt comes to my liking. I prefer other places but well,

new cathay (9)

This is not Chinese Pan cake, but more like a modified version and used to be famous back in those days and now, I guess many prefer hawker food and I still find this pretty good,as its filled with Banana, raisins, egg and pair with my kopi kau just nice.. @ RM 5

If you are in Penang, you can put this kopitiam as one of your hunting ground for breakfast. . Wan TAn Mee here is quite another signature too. .

It has been a long long time since I last came back here and hunt for Chuan Chiew Bak Kut Teh in this area. Used to be one of my hang out spots when I was studying, till I have a few disappointed bak kut teh hunting around my housing area till have to come back here for a decent one.

bkt ss14 (1)

SS14 is already quite well know with a street filled with Bak Kut Teh with many offerings. Every shop have their very own customer base and down till which stall you prefer. As too many years back and little did I remember which one was the best and start off with 2nd outlet on the street which is Chuan Chiew.

bkt ss14 (2)

Early dinner it is as the uncle already busy preparing all his ingredient and cutting it off for waiting customer.

bkt ss14 (3)

To dine Bak Kut Teh of course the ambiance must be in Kopitiam Style ..

bkt ss14 (4)

2 types of soup base, one which is all the ingredient being boil along and another one is to mix it around.

bkt ss14 (5)

After mixture or order, and putting it into claypot, its left on this stove to boil till pippin hot.

bkt ss14 (6)

I quite like the Dry Bak Kut Teh here as its cook along with dry shrimp, taste of squid that make the slight saltiness and thick soy sauce to make it thick, along with chili padi to make it slightly spicy. Just perfect.

bkt ss14 (7)

My pippin hot claypot bak kut teh ..

bkt ss14 (8)

I have a mixture of meat, variety of parts, meat is not too tough yet cook till soft as i prefer. The sad part is always remember to order your needle mushroom to be separated if not the taste of it will over power the taste of the soup. As I order another portion without it. Soup base here is mild not so herbal which most of the locals prefer. Soup definitely can be refillable. I prefer mine to be strong in herbal taste but this is good enough to satisfy.

bkt ss14 (9)

Overall came up to RM61.20 for soup with portion of 4 and dry bak kut teh with 2 portion and 3 of us just whack it.

Movie Genre: Animation/ Comedy/ Family

It has been a while since I last do a movie review as most of the movie I watch was on average or nothing to shout about, and yet this movie I must really do a review on it. I always love to watch animation, that it gives you the happy feeling after that with 3-D effect and always watch animation in 3-D, its just so cool. Although this movie is been in the screen for quite a while and yet still near full house.

Hotel Transylvania is a movie that says something about parenting with famous voices behind such as Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez and many more.. Count Dracula who operates a high-end resort far far away from the human world with a tragedy that his human wife being killed by humans because of him. Left behind is his new born daughter and raise her by himself. As a pain in the tragedy that, he is being over protective over his daughter by building a huge spooky forest with zombie and ghost in between to scared the humans away before reaching his huge castle.

On the special weekend whereby his daughter 118 birthday, he invited all his best friend Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and many more for this occasion, with a castle that is free from human for long long time till a hiker (human) found this castle. Later scene, by creating all the funs that all monster had never enjoy before and soon fall in love with Dracula daughter. Things grew from there.

I must say its one of the best animation that I have come across so far in year 2012 with great story line, laughter and music. A highly recommended movie that you must watch if you feel stress or not in the mood. Will be a great movie to cheer you up. 🙂 Of course must watch in 3-D.

It has been long long time since I last went to Petaling Street for food and walk around the area. I think it was 3 years ago since I last visited the place.

Petaling Street or Chee Cheong Kai is know as Chinatown located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is infamous for pirated clothes and accessories along with bootleg DVDs and CDs. Petaling Street however does not exclusively offer pirated products. Haggling is a common sight here and the place is usually crowded with locals as well as tourists.

The area has dozens of restaurants and food stalls, serving local favourites such as Hokkien mee, ikan bakar (barbecued fish), asam laksa and curry noodles. Traders here are mainly Chinese but there are also Indian, Malay, and Bangladeshi traders. (source Wikipedia)

If you wish to stay around the area, there are many budget hotel available too.

One of the food stalls that used to be very famous was this ‘Ikan Bakar’ that is located in front bank. The last time I dine here was about 6 years ago that it was so famous that we have to order first as usually need to wait for around 1 hour and we stroll around the place to see any nice thing to hunt. .

Now the order came less than 5 minutes and the place was not as pack as before.

chinatown (6)

chinatown (7)

BBQ under this hot stove pit.

chinatown (8)

I ordered the ‘Sting Ray, Lala, Squid and Prawns’ RM16 for small. The taste was not as good compare to last time, as it was very spicy (at least I need 4 glass of water to cool it off) and this round, the bottom was burn, and the whole spicy dish is filled a bit with that flavour and the sambal taste is not as nice as it used to be.

chinatown (9)

When I always come to this area, one of the drink that I will not miss and it is always pack with people is this ‘Air Mata Kucing’ RM1.80 per cup. It is sweet, refreshing and filled with longan at the base of it. A recommended drink if you do go there.

At the end of the night when they are ready to pack up. . .

It had been a long long time since I visited this island Pangkor Island Beach Resort , as I still remember that when I was kid that my dad bring me to this island, when I landed at the dock, I stare at the sea water and I can see many school of fish swimming around the area but now it had change as I went to another jetty. This island Pulau Pangkor, famously known as one of the jewels in the crown  of west coast peninsular Malaysia, that offers travelers the ultimate tranquil gatewa from the hustle and bustle of city life which is located 2 and half hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. To get here, travellers can purchase a direct bus ticket from Bukit Jalil Bus Station (a temporary station) with the price from RM27-RM35 per way but bring a neck pillow as it depends on driver that, it can be a painful ride as it took us about 5 hours to reach here.

*Dissapointing Fact:
During the trip, I realise that we are not the only people that going there as on that day, half of the bus were filled with international travellers from HK and Aus. As approching to the destination, as a Malaysians, I am VERY dissapointed with that xx bus comany driver of his attitude towards the tourist, or maybe he did not know that they were from international as one of the lady went to ask the driver are we reaching soon, and the replied from the bus driver ‘GOING TO REACH SOON! Can you please SIT down!’, 15 minutes later, The Aus couple were getting very uncomfortable as the journey on that day took us very long, then the guy went to ask the driver by ‘How Long does it takes us to reach there? The bus driver replied ’30minutes!!!!!!!’ he was like near yelling  and I was shocked~ This is how you treat people? I was like keep shaking my head . . .. . Well, what the hell…

Now I get a chance to come here again, with all thanks to Ee Lune for helping me to arrange this wonderfull trip, as I was send here by her to do some photoshoot for a resort. The main shooting of the resort is to help to capture children friendly environment and facilities and other nice facilities of the resort.

Pangkor

What I get to know from the locals there, it is usually packed with local tourist but its seasonal as towards end of the year, there will be many travellers around the world will flock the place.

Pangkor (2)

It did shock me a little that I didnt know the surroundings area of the dock had many nice building and well taken care off, which I hope, Penang will have this kind of feel and look.
